Can't enable Google offline mail or calendar

Trying to enable offline e-mail and calendar in Google. It prompts me to download and install GEARS, but then does not complete the install of offline services. This works properly in v. 3.6.1

Try to do it from safe boot. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455

  • Can't enable Google Calendar in iCal

I mistakingly deleted my Google internet account in Mavericks because I was having issues with contacts not syncying.  Now that I am trying to add it again, it won't let me.  I'm getting 2 different error messages:
"Access to account “Google” is not permitted.
    The server responded:
    “403”
    to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation."
The other error message I was receiving yesterday just said that a "secure connection could not be established".  I deleted my iCal cache files as suggested in another forum post which stopped that error message from coming up.  I have also set up the 2-step verification process through Google hoping that would solve the problem, but it hasn't.
I feel like it's something I'm missing, but I'm tired of trying to figure this out on my own.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi there,
I have tested this out on my backup disk and there is a slight modification to the method. Will highlight this with quotation.
    ================================================================================ ==
It appears that once upgraded to Mavericks, the calendar folders are no longer compatible with the latest version of iCal. Hence why it crashes.
    To remediate,
    Close the iCal App
Duplicate the folder (For Backup reason)     /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar
Delete all content with in      /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar
    Go to:-
System Prefences | Internet Account | iCloud
    Uncheck Calendars, Recheck Calendars
    Select the iCloud profile
Press "-" to delete the whole iCloud profile.
Recreate the iCloud profile by select "+" then iCloud
Enter your iCloud Username and Password
It will asked you if you wish to merge the database. (You may have to do this more then once)
    For every other google calendar
Uncheck Calendars (if already checked), Recheck Calendars
Hopefully this will recreate all the calender folders within /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar and start re-syncing.
Once you are satified that all your calender are syncing, delete the /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar copy
    Good Luck.

  • Can't enable "private me card" in Calendar app

I'm running 10.8.4 on my MacBookPro and I want to enable "private me cards" in Contacts. When I go to "Preferences" in the app I can select the option in the section "vCard" however when I want to edit the contact, I am not able to select or deselect any of the fields of any contact. The supposed select boxes are not showing up. vCard Format is set to 3.0 and all my contacts are stored and synced with iCloud.
Has anyone experienced the same issue?
    Thanks

    Hi arviaja!
I have an article for you that can explain a little more about that "private me card" option that you are attempting to use. That article can be found here:
Address Book 6.x: Share your card
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4626
After reviewing this article myself, it seems that this feature is only available specifically for the card labeled as "Me" in your Contacts application. This card should be the one that contains information about you, such as your phone number, address, email address, etc. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden

  • Can I sync my existing iPhone 3G calendar enteries with my new iPad 2 calendar?

Can I sync my existing iPhone 3G calendare entries with my new iPad 2 calendar?

WalleWalle below is right: If you're patient for the release of iCloud some time this fall, that should handle your needs.
In the meanwhile, a MobileMe account (which you can't get anymore if you don't already have one) or a Gmail account will do the trick. Exchange will also work, but you'd already know that if you had it available.
Until iCloud is available, I'd recommend getting a free Google Mail (Gmail) account and enabling it for Mail and Calendars. Both your iPhone and your iPad will sync with it automatically.
As an alternative, look at the free Wunderlist, which you can access on your iOS devices with a dedicated app, on the web, and even on a Mac app from the Mac App Store. The apps and service are free, and it's had great reviews. Strictly speaking, it's a to-do app, but it has decent "calendar" functions.

  • Iphone 4s in settings can't access Notes or Mail.  Also can't access mail from home screen. Can't send email. All else is good.

I need help. I have reset my iphone. I have turned it off then on. Still can't launch my built in mail app from home screen. When I try it goes to blank page then right back to home screen view.
In settings for the iphone 4s I can not access Notes or Mail, Contacts,Calendars. When I tap either of the two they highlight in blue and then go right back to Home Screen view. I seem to be able to access everything else in settings with no trouble.
From home screen I have no trouble I can launch the built in utility Notes with no problem. I also can launch Calendars from Home Screen view. My Contacts are still reachable by tapping Phone from H/S view then clicking on contacts.
I can not launch mail. nor can I send email. Also the built in mail app is not showing it is recieving mail either. All else seems fine.
I can log in to my email from Safari on iphone and from my laptop with no problem.
Anyone have any suggestions?  My iphone is out of warranty. Apples only suggestions are To pay for support.
    Thanks in advance

Just had a thought....was trying to rememberif anything changed last night. I think I installed a mac OS X Security update. That's about the time the trouble started. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • How can I sync Google Calendar with my E75?

This is driving me insane. I've searched and searched and searched the web for a way to sync my E75 unlocked phone with Google Calendar. 90% of the threads and comments Google digs up simply say, "It doesn't work." Some people seem to have manged to get it to work with some very minor variations on the following directions:
    1. On the E75, press the Menu key.
    2. Select Email.
    3. Remove the Mail for Exchange mailbox (if it currently exists).
    4. Select New from the home screen of the Email application.
    5. Press Start.
    6. Enter a fictitious email addres that you know does not exist.
    7. Press OK.
    8. Enter a fictitious password for the fictitious email address.
    9. Press OK.
    10. Select Mail for Exchange.
    11. Type in your Gmail username/email address.
    12. Press OK.
    13. Leave the Domain blank.
    14. Press OK.
    15. Type: m.google.com
    16. Press OK twice.
    17. Type in your Gmail password.
    18. Press Log in.
    19. Go to the home screen of the Email application.
    20. Select Settings.
    21. Select Personal information management.
    22. Select Applications.
    23. Select Calendar.
    24. Select Calendar sync (this will enable calendar).
    25. Go to the home screen of the Email application.
    26. Select Settings.
    27. Select Mail for Exchange.
    28. Select What to sync.
    29. Select Sync email (this will disable email).
    30. Select Back three times.
    31. Press Options.
    32. Select Synchronize.
My problem is that my E75 Mail app doesn't have the Mail for Exchange option described in step 10. The rest of the procedure just goes down the tube at that point. After a great deal of research, I'm left with the impression that either something is wrong with my phone or these directions are out of date. Has anyone had recent experience configuring the E75 to work with Google Calendar either through MfE or through another (free) app?

     Hi there,
didn't read your complete rant, it's clear you've disappointed by substandard product and/or mismatching expectations, I on the other hand have had a exceptional good experience with my N95. It's reaching old age now, so I can't wait for the N900. However I do see Nokia has a challenge to overcome, well two actually. Yes you're right they're trying too hard to create some Nokia-bounded platforms, instead of facillitating the connectivity between platforms. Recently saw some intresting concepts in the beta apps, but they require a similar nokia app on the other side. Well I'm very sorry Nokia, nowadays I don't even know the number of the person I'll be calling, do you really believe I know (or want you to tell me = $$?) who of my contacts has this app enabled?  With some good will and some fantasy I could say it's a part of brandpositioning and solidifing (or some other fancy BS ;-) ). Nokia however also seems to have an issue with postdevelopment integration and streamlining of their apps. Developing apps as more or less seperate entities might seem a sensible develment strategy and it probably is when combined with good (read efficient and thus "cheap") projectmanagement.  If a contact has a birthday mentioned in contacts, don't you think I would want to see that in my calendar? If I try to be smart, I give the input myself, but then what happens? When syncing I get 2 birthdays is my outlook calendar ;-( Similar ennoying feat happens with GPS locations, I´m using serach address, use contactlist. Have a guess where I´d like the coordinates to go to when saved....no it´s not a new and seperate entry in favourites which in turn is read by the address book, these things should have seamless integration.  User experience and ultimately satisfaction cannot be achieved by solely developing series of new and improved functionalities,  cause to us,  the consumer it´s not primarily a functionality. It´s actually a person, either in direct communication or otherwise stored for future communication. As a producer of these communication devices Nokia should show they understand this, preferably through their products. Regarding your issue syncing with Google Calendar, I'm assuming you're already using the calendar. Why not download the Google apps app? Or if you only want the calendar, take the standalone calendar app, Basically you'll have a mobilized calendar view with most of the functionalities there. Can't be online indefinetly? Just save the page locally, nothing you can't handle ;-) The solutions with either MfE reconfig or syncing with outllook/windows calendar in the middle are feasible too, however you do need to be carefull when setting direction and/or dominance of the sync relation. Multipoint syncing can become a severe headache if you haven't set it up proparly..... I've also included a google info mail, they send me some time ago. Loads of info&links, I'm sure there's a solution there which will fit your needs

  • How to enable Google Mail on the N9

So I want to turn on the Mail application with my google account. I click on the create account, select google, add my credentials and it says it's being successful. I can turn on google talk and it works without issues. However, the Mail app just continues to ask me for my password, tells me it's wrong (it's not wrong) and doesn't fetch any mail. Where is the problem and how do you fix it?

    Try this.
But make sure what you want to do with your contacts. If you want to sync your gmail contacts to your phone and choose the mail data to remain it will delete your phone contacts. But if you select phone contacts to keep, it will update the data in the gmail.
To configure the Mail for Exchange application for Google Sync, follow these steps:
Open the MfE folder on your phone and start the Mail for Exchange application.
Select Yes when prompted to create a new Sync profile.
Configure the profile with the following settings:
    * Connection
    Exchange Server: m.google.com
    Secure Connection: Yes
Access Point: your carrier's Internet access point
Sync while roaming: your preferred setting
    Use default port: Yes
    * Credentials
Username: Your full Google email address, e.g. [email protected]
Password: Your Google Account password. (If you're a 2-step verification user, please use an application-specific password instead.)
    Domain: leave empty
    * Sync schedule
Decide when you want synchronization to happen. Leaving this Always On will ensure your data is always current, but will also consume more battery than other settings.
    * Calendar
    Synchronize Calendar: Enable or disable
    Sync Calendar back: your preference
Initial Sync: Decide if you want to keep existing Calendar events on your phone or replace them all with events synced from Google Calendar.
    * Tasks
Synchronize Tasks: No (currently not supported by Google Sync)
    * Contacts
    Synchronize Contacts: Enable or Disable
Initial Sync: Decide if you want to keep existing Contacts on your phone or replace them all with contacts synced from Google.
    * E-mail
    Synchronize Email: Enable or Disable
E-mail address (default based on profile)
    Show new mail popup (yes/no)
    Use signature (default to no)
    Signature
When sending mail (default: send immediately; alternative is send at next sync only)
Sync messages back (default: 3 days; alternatives are 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, all messages)

I'm trying to add my Google Apps (custom domain, not @gmail.com) account to the Mail, Contacts & Calendars control panel. I was able to add Mail, Messages, and Notes without any issues, but it's refusing to connect to Calendars & Reminders. When I attempting connecting, it gives me an error...
A secure connection couldn't be established.
Click “Continue” to continue creating the account. You can edit the account later in Calendar preferences if necessary.
So I click "Continue" to... well, continue. Eventually, I've given this error:
There was a problem setting up the account.
Calendar couldn't discover the account settings for the CalDAV server “google.com”.
Just out of curiousity, I went into the Calendar app to directly add my Google account. Doing so also gives me an error:
    Server with Secure Communication Unavailable
Your calendar account isn't on a server that can receive your calendar securely.
If a server isn't secure, others may be able to view your calendar information. To continue searching for your account on servers that may not be secure, and then set up the account if it's found, click Continue.
So I go ahead and click Continue. After waiting some more, I finally get the error...
No CalDAV servers were found for "google.com".
This message appears on the Account Settings sheet where you can add a CalDAV account. If I manually type in the Server Address here (https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user//www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user), Calendar claims it still cannot connect to a secure connection. This time, clicking Continue does add the account. (I'm assuming through a non-secure conncetion.) If I try to edit the Account Settings, it takes me to the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars control panel where Calendars & Reminders for my Google account is now selected.
I can only assume this is a weird bug with Mountain Lion, but needless to say, this is far from the "it just works" mentality I've been use to.
This was not an issue with iCal on Snow Leopard, which is what I'm coming from.

I was having similar issues and thought I would put down what solved my problem.
In "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" I didn't choose "Gmail" I used "Add Oter Account…" as previously mentiond.
Then I chose "Add a CalDav account"
Under User Name: I entered my entire gmail address
Under Password: I entered a new "Application Password" key as generated by Googles two step verification process.
Under Server Address: I tried to use just "google.com" and "www.google.com" neither of these worked - only errors. So I used the address as listed on Google Calender when clicking on settings for my main calendar. There is a link that will give you your calendars private address. I shortened it to:
    www.google.com/calendar/ical/your_gmail_address_goes_here
    Then it worked immediately!

  • Can't edit Google Calendar events in iCal

I am using Google Calendar's new CalDAV sync system and their "Calaboration" tool to sync my iCal (version 3.0.5, and I'm using Mac OS 10.5.2) with my Google Calendars, per the instructions on this page:
    http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99358#ical
It seems to work ok in that I can now see my google calendar events in iCal. I can also add an event to that calendar in iCal, and it will sync to my google calendar. However, I can't seem to edit an event in iCal that was created on the Google Calendar web page. That is, all my events that I created in Google Calendar do indeed appear in iCal, but I can't edit them in iCal. I can edit events that I create for that calendar in iCal, but not ones I created in google calendar. Not a huge deal, but I was wondering if this is how it is supposed to work, because it seems a tad inconvenient.
(I do have my e-mail address in my address book "me" card, so that's not the problem.)

Yeah, I tried deleting the calendars in iCal and re-synching to them via Calaboration, but the same problem persisted.
I did find the solution after a bit of experimenting, though. To solve it, I basically created a new calendar on Google Calendar, imported all my events from my old google calendar into it, then used Calaboration to sync iCal to the new Google calendar, and now I can edit events in iCal and GCal without problems. I don't actually know what the problem WAS, but this seems to have solved it. Maybe I made my original Google Calendar too long ago and it had some old bad settings I couldn't see? I dunno, but it doesn't matter now.
For those who might have this same problem, here's how I transferred my old Google Calendar events into a new Google Calendar without losing anything: (You actually don't need to delete your old Google Calendar at all if you don't want to, so there's no reason to worry about losing your events.)
    1. In GCal, click the "settings" link at the top right of the web page. Then select the "Calendars" tab. Click the "Export My Calendars" link, which should be under your list of calendars, next to the cancel button. This will download a .zip file to your computer, containing all of your google calendars as individual .ics files. Go ahead and unzip them so that the .ics file for the calendar you want to duplicate is sitting in a folder somewhere on your computer.
    2. Now In GCal, click on the "Create" link on the lower righthand side of the "My Calendars" box, which is on the lefthand side of the screen.
    3. Create a new blank calendar and name it whatever you want. This is the blank calendar into which you will import your old calendar's events.
    4. Now, in GCal, click "Add" at the bottom right of the "Other Calendars" box, which is under the "My Calendars" box on the left side of the web page.
    5. Select "Import Calendar".
    6. Click "Choose File" and browse to the .ics file you want to duplicate on your computer.
    7. In the "Choose Calendar" pull-down menu, select the new, blank calendar you made in step 3.
    8. Click Import. This may take a few minutes, depending on the number of events you have in your .ics calendar file.
    9. Once it's done, look at the calendar to make sure your events all came into your new Google Calendar ok. It should look exactly like the original google calendar, but it will be a different color.
    10. NOW, use Calaboration to sync your iCal to the New Calendar you just made in Google Calendar.
    11. Once it's done synching, you should be able to edit events in the calendar in iCal.
