Can't enable hardware sounds/EAX in some ga

Hi all,
I have X-Fi Xtreme Music card and I've noticed that in some games, e.g. F.E.A.R., that I can't enable the EAX options and/or the hardware mixing. I've noticed this in several other games as well.
Suggestions?

I didn't know that... I'm running x64 with 4 gigs of RAM which explains things. A number of other games have this same problem...can't enable EAX options or hardware mixing. Thanks for the info.

Ok after spending hours on this forum and realizing that I just spend $200 on a card to hook up my computer to my home theater to play games on my 37 LCD I find out that I can not get any of the sound card gaming features while using my $50 optical cable. Ok now that that is off my chest.

Unfortunately, this takes the original poster's cost to $350 + cables. That's ALOT of money to pay just for EAX 4.0.
Creative are ripping you off. The technology in the Home Theatre Connect kit can be squeezed on to a single microchip, and is already available on most onboard soundcards, and the Diamond range of soundcards:

Judging by the number of people in this forum who have asked about the digital output expecting it to provide a Dolby signal, I can only assume that the reason Creative did not implement this feature on their brand new range of X-Fi soundcards was so they could milk a bit more money out of their customers by forcing them to buy a separate box to convert their analog signal into a proper Dolby Digital signal.

Can't enable hyperlinks

Hi,
I'm trying to add a new page to my .Mac site. I can't enable text as hyperlinks for some reason - I've read the help file and seem to be doing everything right, but all of the options for inserting hyperlinks are ghosted out in my Inspector. And when I tried making the hyperlink by selecting Insert>Hyperlink, it brought up the Inspector (still ghosted out) and made a link to Apple.com, which is not what I had in mind. I had to Undo to get it to go away.
Please help!

For example, scroll bars will appear when you zoom in on a page.

It sounds like you are unable to get sound from your internal speaker on your phone. I recommend the troubleshooting from the following article to help resolve the issue with your phone, named:

Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.

How to enable hardware virtualisation support?

Today I upgraded to mac os x lion and when I open parallels desktop it asks me to enable hardware virtualisation support on my MacBook pro so that I can run windows xp as a virtual machine. I have searched the net and cannot find a way to access the bios to enable this feature, please could I have some support and advise on how to enable the VT. I did have any problems whilst I was on os x snow leopard and parallels used to work fine.

Boot camp is the way to go then you will be able to turn it on. Run boot camp install windows xp and you be able to get into the bios

MBP Periodically blacks out with a faint "hardware" sound

For the last couple of days, my (approximately 2.5-year-old) MBP's screen has been blacking out periodically. When it blacks at, it does so for 2-5 seconds, and is accompanied by a very quite, and I mean the faintest - I don't know what else to call it - "hardware" sound? A bit like the sound one gets when one's Macbook Pro is starting up, but neither as loud nor as extended. Furthermore, this often happens while I'm writing, and the last two times it has occurred I have continued to write while the screen is black, and once it returns, I notice that what I have written has been truncated (for example, I am writing "anthropocentrism" and, once the screen comes back on, what I see is "anentrism." And yes, I DID hit all the keys. I'm a very accurate typist and this sort of thing has happened on more than two occasions). Does this have anything to do with the last update Apple released prior to the release of Lion? I can't remember exactly when I installed the last update, but there might be some correlation there. I just hope this doesn't have anything to do with my hardware...
If it's any help, I have an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (or is it 9600M GT? System Profiler is showing both) graphics card, although, as my description above would indicate to ME at least, it is probably not a problem with my graphics card.

Exact same specs as Mika on my powerbook, and I just recently got the exact same buzzing sound. It sounds like it is coming from under / near the trackpad. Sometimes it is quiet, and other times it is louder.
Running the diagnostic shows no problems. It sounds like a fan with a loose bearing or something else that is rotating and either hitting something else, or not working as it should. It started all of a sudden, and I'm quiet worried about the situation of the computer overall.
In general, almost the exact same problem as the O.P. and none of the solutions I've seen seem to correct it. I suspect it may have something to do with the video card, but I could be wrong (say an extra fan on it). Otherwise perhaps the harddrive, but I would have to know what the internals looked like to pinpoint it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: After looking at another website to pinpoint where the sound is coming from, it is almost CERTAINLY coming directly from the hard drive.

The hard drive is directly under the trackpad in the G4 Aluminum. Well, looks like my recent backups haven't been for nought.

If the user has disabled hardware acceleration in his flash player's settings, context3d.driverInfo will say "Hw_disabled=userDisabled"
His only way to re-enable it is to open Internet Explorer or Firefox and right click on a flash content, then check "Enable hardware acceleration"
I (we) would like to be allowed to re-enable it directly inside the AIR app (via actionscript code) and not telling the user to open a browser and check some random checkboxes (cause you know it's not very user-friendly...)
A bug has been opened here Bug#3843535 - Disabling Hardware Acceleration in IE flash plugin disables it in AIR EXEs and is marked as fixed but nothing is fixed : there's still no way to enable hardware acceleration in desktop AIR application

If "Realtek High Definition Audio" is listed under the "Sound, video and game controllers" in the Device Manager then that is your sound driver. Some people have had luck with uninstalling the Realtek HD audio driver from their computer via the Device Manager (be sure to check the "Delete driver software for this "), and then reinstalling it. You can get the latest version of the Realtek HD audio driver from the Realtek download site.
Many of us who have the Realtek HD sound driver have had to make several tweaks to improve the sound. Opening the Realtek HD Manager and enabling Loudness Equalization and setting the equalizer to Powerful helps with some of the low audio issues some of us have experienced with the Realtek HD sound drivers.

That sounds like an idea.I've had trouble with Verizon a lot .I I switch ed back to a non andriod phone cause of the expense it took 3 months and at least that many hours of phone calls &store visits to straight in it out...there's been many times things are blocked and a month later its back on the bill,u call and are told they can't do anything ...not there problem, can't b fixed from there end,I asked to talk to a sup. At was told I couldn't then she said I'd b told the same thing I insisted...I was on hold for about 20 minutes I hung up tried to call back they would not answer, I called my daughter had her call they answered when she told them they tried to blow her off too, so she went down to a store and made a complaint.. I don't have a store in our town,the customer should not have Togo through all that trouble some of this is down right criminal... Hello, I have bought a Sound Blaster Audigy SB0570 (I wrote down the product information from it, before it had been installing on PC) but the driver is not listed, I can't get any sound and the board is properly installed.

right click on My Computer then select properties. Not sure which OS you are using (Vista or XP) but look for Device Manager as you should see it regardless of which OS but one will be a tab and the other a link. Either way click it.
Here you will see the titles for every piece of hardware you have installed. Next to those tiles should be a + sign which opens up that category. If you see a yellow ! that generally means you have a driver issue or conflict of some type. You should see a section named Sound, Video and game controllers. Click on the plus sign (will already be open if windows has an issue with that hardware.
If your sound card is installed and Windows has not detected any problems with it, you might see something like Creative SB X-Fi. Either way, click on the name of your device, if it's even showing up, and then right click properties. Now click on the Resources tab. At the bottom of this tab you should see a section that says Conflicting device list. With any luck it says No conflicts.

Enabled hardware acceleration in version 33+ causing everything to render in solid black on Intel HD3000 (on both 2 years old and latest drivers).

I'm experiencing troubles with Firefox versions 33+. Enabling hardware acceleration makes everything render in solid black, even on clean profile, even the "Choose profile" and "Firefox already running" dialogs.
Problem started when developers started to work on MSE.
Also the font rendering is doing wild things - some characters like 'l' (small L), 'i' and '-' at certain font sizes are not rendered at all and some characters like '=' are rendered partially like '-'. Of course with hardware acceleration disabled.
This is pretty annoying, because it appears in places I use a lot like address bar and youtube HTML5 player, leading to those render failures:
'Exit full screen' renders as 'Ex t fu screen'

I had the same thing with a nvidia gpu (660GTX) and ff nightly 33 .... every thing had big black pulsing borders like the css animations code had gone mental and the whole screen was flickery .. and all the text was clipping when scrolling creating trails .. I went into the gpu settings disabled acceleration and it worked perfectly after that so I can confirm that 3D accellerations has issue in 33.
