Can't enable hyper-v on i5 win 8.1 laptop

Folks,
I cannot figure out how to get Hyper-V to run on my new Dell I7352 i5 (5200) 8GB RAM Windows 8.1 touch-screen laptop.
Running 'Coreinfo.exe -v' indicates full support for hardware virtualization (HYPERVISOR - Hypervisor is present, VMX * Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualization, EPT * Supports Intel extended page tables (SLAT)), and the BIOS setting for virtualization
is checked 'Enabled'. But, the Hyper-V option is missing in the "Turn Windows Features on/off" application; and running "Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Hyper-V –All" in an elevated PowerShell
session, generates the error that 'the Feature name Microsoft Hyper-V is unknown'; likewise, running "dism.exe /Online /Enable-Feature:Microsoft-Hyper-V /All" in an elevated command
prompt, generates essentially the same error and says to use the '/Get-Features' option to find the feature in the image.
So it appears that the hardware (BIOS, etc) and underlying OS do support Hyper-V (as MS and Intel advertise it should). What am I doing wrong?
Regards, Trebor

No problem, you're welcome, though you might try VMWare player, it's
another free virtualization package.  I've seen a few VirtualBox problems
lately...

  • H9-1350 Can't enable Hyper-V

I just purchased a new h9-1350 HP Envy Phoenix, running Windows 8 64 bit on i7-3770. I want to enable Hyper-V. I've looked at the BIOS settings and can't see an option for Data Execution Prevention. According to other threads like this one for another Envy with the same motherboard it should be under System Security. But all I'm seeing is the option for Virtualization.
Does anyone know if there's another way to enable DEP? Do I need an update to the BIOS? The version I'm seeing is FOR_814.ROM V8.14
    TIA

    Hi,
You need to be running Windows 8 Pro and VT needs to be enabled in the bios.  Then go to the Control Panel --- Programs and Features and click on Turn Windows Features on or off.  Check Hyper-V as it is not set by default.  See the below image.
    Click OK then reboot.

Hi i installed windows embedded industry pro x64 from dreamSpark Before my computer is using windows 8.1 SL and now im trying build a application to windows phone but hyper v is not enabled i tried BİOS but i can found any "virtualizition= disabled"
    options.
    my device properties;

    AMD A4 QUAD-CORE
and if i install virtualbox can i use with visual studio and it can runnnig windowsphone emulator ??

Hyper-V is an installable option, check the control panel Program and Features to see if it is available for install.
If you use VirtualBox, you will have to install an operating system in a VM.

  • Can't enable iCloud Drive on Win 8.1

I can't enable iCloud Drive on my Win 8.1 PC.  I tick the box, and Apply, a window pops up requesting my password.  Then, the tick box appears ticked, then immediately un-ticks.
    Can anyone help, please?

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is related to network, as I am trying this through a work network managed centrally. I connected through my iPad's hotspot, and could enable iCloud, and all the folders are showing. Once connected back onto the work network, nothing downloads (or is doing it excruciatingly slowly).
Interestingly I can add stuff to the Windows iCloud drive, and these upload and show up elsewhere in iDevices, but nothing appears to be happening the other way...is it normal for a locked down network to allow access out but not in? Any ideas for getting round it (DropBox and OneDrive work fine on the same network)?

  • Enable Hyper-V in Windows 8.1 runing on HP Pavilion E014TX

    Hi to all,
I can not enable Hyper-V on my laptop HP Pavilion E014TX. The OS is Win8.1 Pro. Every time I on from BIOS then save changes then it should be restart but it is not doing just Windows logo with revolving loading dots even i wait for full battery consumption.
Please Help and and answer in some detail format.

    1. Have you updated the computer with the latest BIOS from HP?  If not, try that.  Go to HP, see if there are any BIOS updates and follow the directions there for upgrading your BIOS.
    2. Get coreinfo, download here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc835722) and run "coreinfo.exe -v" from a command prompt.
    Post your results here.
What you need to see from the results is this output:
    HYPERVISOR      -       Hypervisor is present
VMX             *       Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualization
EPT             *       Supports Intel extended page tables (SLAT)
If you don't get these results then your system is not compatible or is not configured correctly for virtualization.

Tried disabling Wi-Fi and BT and rebooting the laptop. Does not help.
    Can somebody help me ?
    Thanks
    Dixit

    Hi,
Multiple attempts to update the BT drivers from HP website and Mediatek website failed to solve the issue.
Disabling and uninstalling the BT driver from Device Manager also does not solve the issue.
Removing the device from the Registry solved the issue as I did not need BT.
The BT device is : PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3298.
Search for this device in the registry (regedit.exe) and delete it.
If you need BT along with Hyper-v on HP Laptops, you are out of luck as the issue is not resolved yet.

  • When I install the Hyper V Feature set (Win 8.1) - I lose my DVI connected monitors.

I have decided to switch over from VMWare Player to Hyper V for my VMs, however I am running into a deal breaker type issue.
After I install the Hyper V  features (via Programs and features) I get prompted for a restart while the system installs the feature set.
When I finally get booted back up I am no longer able to detect my two monitors that are connected via DVI.
I have a Lenovo T430 and all the System drivers and Windows updates are current. VGA still works, but I only have one VGA port and need two.
    Troubleshooting so far:
    Phyiscal Layer:
I tried new cables, new docking station, different monitors.
I removed the Hyper V feature set and regained my use of the DVI monitors.
I don't really know where to begin troubleshooting after that. I am not that familiar with hypervisors. I need access my lab environment. Please help!
Any ideas on steps to troubleshoot with would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Sir,
    >>After I install the Hyper V  features (via Programs and features) I get prompted for a restart while the system installs the feature set.
    >>When I finally get booted back up I am no longer able to detect my two monitors that are connected via DVI.
Do you mean all of these ports can work well at a time  without enabling Hyper-v ?
I checked the laptop "T430" ,it has two video card .
Please try to disable the integrated one for test .

  • Windows 8.1 Pro Crashes When Enabling Hyper-V

So I bought a new HP Envy Desktop specifically for Windows Phone Development and ironically I can't get Hyper-V running. The machine just hangs on startup and eventually Windows 8.1 Pro x64 just crashes after multiple attempts after enabling Hyper-V in Windows
Programs/Features.  It's a Intel i5 with 12GB of RAM and virtualization is enabled in the BIOS.  I've read through multiple threads over the last several days and tried the following:
    - Updating all local drivers and Windows updates
    - Disabling Bluetooth
    - Uninstalling Avira AV
    - Someone also suggested disabling USB 3.0 support but I don't see an option to do this in my BIOS.
I've wasted a lot of time on this and I would really appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    Hi ericvanburen,
I found similar issue with HP Envy Desktop in HP forum , it might be due to blue tooth driver .
And I quoted the genneral solution here :
    1. Enter into BIOS setup and set Virtualization as disabled and reboot system.
    2. After booting windows 8, enter into Control panel and remove bluetooth driver.
    3. Download and install Ralink Bluetooth driver version 9.2.101.10 (SP59632)
    4. Reboot system and enable Virtualization Technology again.

  • Hyper V feature in Win 8.1 after getting installed , system is not able to boot up

I am using Windows 8.1 professional x64 os in my Hp pavilion G6 laptop which has virtualisation technology enabled in the bios , but after enabling hyper v feature in the windows system is not able to boot up and circles around for a long time. I need
hyper v on my laptop , kindly help me out for the same.

    Hi,
Please try to boot into WinRE and run the Startup Repair option.
Generally speaking, when you add feature like Hyper-V, system would take a long time to get this feature configured. if your computer still stay updates configuration steps, you can use Windows 8.1 installation image to repair system. In system repair mode,
you can access into Command Prompt mode, and check CBS.log under C:\Windows\logs\CBS.
This log file would record Windows installation process, we may find the problem of Hyper-V installation.

  • UPnP doesn't work after enabling Hyper-V role on WS2012R2

    Hi,
We have stream/media player which use File share on WS2012 R2. It uses UPnP protocol to connect on File Share and it works fine. But, after enabling Hyper-V role on that server machine, stream/media player can't connect anymore on network share, cannot see
any network computer, I would say master browser service is corrupted.
Do you have advice, how to use UPnP on server with enabled Hyper-V role and virtual network adapter?
    Thank you in advance

Have you tried doing things in the opposite sequence?  Try first installing and configuring Hyper-V and the virtual switches you will be using.  Then install the media player.  Maybe the media player is losing track of things when its underlying
    network is changed.
Of course, Microsoft does not recommend this configuration.  It does not recommend running any other service on a host that is running Hyper-V.  That does not immediately imply it will not work; just passing on that what you are doing is a non-recommended
    configuration.

  • Why can´t I use inport VI in win xp even when I have used userport aplication?

why can´t I use inport VI in win xp even when I have used userport aplication for enabling port reading in this plattform?, I´m getting data from the parallel port in epp mode, my pc´s pararell is ok bcs I can read data in c++

If you have an older LabVIEW (6.1 or earlier) you will need to exchange the in port and out port VIs that came with LabVIEW with different ones and install a DLL. The reason is documented here . This link (which is the first link returned when you search ni.com for "in port") explains basically that the OS won't let you until you have kernel level access. The devzone link at the bottom of the refered page will include all of the code that you need to install (VIs and DLL) to make it work.

  • Cannot enable hyper-v in windows 8.1(EFI from bootcamp)

    Hi Guys,
I wonder whether anybody has the same issue as me.
Use boot camp assistant to follow the instruction to install windows 8.1 and failed at last step said windows cannot write into boot configuration data something
Find one remediation solution to delete the partition created by boot camp and create it from disk utitlity. everything went smooth and get windows 8.1 installed(Bios), can even enable the hyper-v without any issue
Find another thread talking about EFI boot. So try it with the way(need use gdisk to do some patching and finally need recreate bcd record). windows 8.1 installed without any issue, not sure whether it is EFI boot. But I cannot enable hyper v anymore. after tick the option in windows features and it restart twice and nothing happen. The hyper-v option still remain in windows feature.
Anybody has the similar issue and provide your valuable advice? Thanks a lot.
BTW, the hardware is rMBP 15", i7 2.3GHZ, 16G RAM and 512G SSD

    Hi TeddyIsSam
Encountered the same problem on my 27" iMac Mid-2010 (CPU i5-2500s)
I tried for hours/days and could not enable Hyper-V.
If i enabled hyper-v, windows would boot to black screen and could not be repaired without disabling hyper-v.
Found the problem. installing bootcamp from USB with always use latest EFI boot and hyper-v doesnt like it - at least on my old iMac.
Installing windows with old bootcamp style - BIOS emulation (or whatever apple call it) works OK.
non-EFI (or old bootcamp) is when you get 1-2 second of cursor flash in the top left before windows boots.
Unfortunately, i had removed my super drive DVD from iMac... so i could only install bootcamp from USB and this requires EFI boot only.
To remedy this, i used this process which was very, very time consuming, costs $ for winclone and not for beginners
    http://huguesval.com/blog/2012/02/installing-windows-7-on-a-mac-without-superdri ve-with-virtualbox/
However, i can confirm i can now happily run hyper-v with Windows 8.1. great performance. It boots in old non-EFI mode which doesnt seem to have any downside? except the 1-2 cursor flash and i had to manually install latest graphics drivers from ATI as bootcamp drivers we buggy.
Hope this saves someone a lot of time!!!
im assuming later generation Macs happily run hyper-v with latest EFI.

After making the BIOS changes the box needs to be cold booted.
Some BIOS options will not become available without a cold boot.  And with laptops this can equal pulling the battery.
Also, don't miss updating the BIOS.
And last, ensure that the flavor of the chipset that you have really does support the feature.  As there are cases where the motherboard supports it, or the BIOS allows enabling it, but the chipset does not actually have it.
