Can't enable IPv6 on my 3560 Switch

Hi, I got a Cisco WS-C3560-24PS-E Switch today and I can't enable IPv6 on it. I know the global command to enable it is "ipv6 unicast-routing" but that wouldn't show up in the global command list. Cisco Packet Tracer's layer 3 switch is the exact same model as mine and I even used the same IOS image as packet tracer's and it didn't work ("ipv6 unicast-routing" works on packet tracer though). Even tried upgrading to the LATEST IOS image and still got nothing. Can anyone please help? Is there something that I didn't do?

Hi Patrick
Did you configure sdm to support ipv6
If not you can configure it using below command

  • WLan can be enabled only when NB200 is switched on

    I have a n Equium Laptop and a NB200 netbook.
    I set up the new NB200 netbook a couple of days ago and had the same problems experienced by others trying to switch the Wifi on!
    That is now OK, but I'm finding that the Laptop can only access the Wifi now if the Netbook is switched on (the Laptop was fine before the Notebook appeared!). Obviously, in setting up the Netbook access I've done something stupid, but I can't imagine what it is!
    Hopefully someone can suggest a solution.
    Thanks

    I think maybe I haven't explained it very well!
    The problem is that the Equium Laptop can't access the internet unless the NB200 Netbook is switched on.
    When the Netbook is switched off, the Laptop shows messages saying little or no connectivity to access the internet.
    As soon as I switch the Netbook on, the laptop connects fine.

  • 3560 switch

    Guys,
    I would like to use a new 3560 switch & i do want it to perform purely as layer 2, also I need to enable spantree per vlan spantree for the vlans besides configuring Qos for the vlans.
    Is there any thing i should do before connect it to my Network?
    How would I apply Qos on the mentioned switch?
    Do I have to configure some thing specific to enable PVST+ ?
    I appreciate ur feedback,
    thanks,

    Hi Friend,
    Cisco switches bydefaut run PVST+ so you need not configure anything to enable PVST+. But 3560 switch PVST+ mode, supports up to 128 spanning-tree instances.
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat3560/12225se/3560scg/swstp.htm#wp1170819
    To make it pure layer 2 you can ensure "ip routing" is disable at global config mode.It is disbaled by default but you can just double check it.
    To configure QOS you can have a look at this link

  • Can't get ipv6 address assigned correctly.

    I use NetworkManager and dhclient for auto-configuration but it has some weird problems.
    When I boot up my laptop, I only have chance to get access to ipv6 network, when I fail, I tried to delete the connection in Network Management Settings, and then added a new profile, disable and then enable the network again. Sometimes it works well, but sometimes it failed to auto-config.
    If I use the command:
    $ ip -6 rout
    then I'll get the following message:
    unreachable fe80::/64 dev lo proto kernel metric 256 error -101
    fe80::/64 dev wlan0 proto kernel metric 256
    default via fe80::2e0:2ff:fe54:59 dev wlan0 proto static metric 1
    every time the default gateway is configured well, sometimes the address the address is missed , and if I do the following:
    $ ping6 -I wlan0 -c 4 fe80::2e0:2ff:fe54:59
    It responses normally.

    inet6 fe80::1034:56ff:fe78:9124/64 scope link
    valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
    I found I just sometimes can get the ipv6 address start with 2001:
    If the address is assigned, then:
    $ ping6 ipv6.google.com
    PING ipv6.google.com(ipv6.google.com) 56 data bytes
    ^C
    --- ipv6.google.com ping statistics ---
    11 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 10008ms
    response nothing!
    Then I switch into Windows 7, if something like above happened, then I managed to set the MAC address to a random value such as 12-34-56-78-91-23, soon, the problem will be corrected, I'll get a new ipv6 address assigned by DHCPv6 server. If I switch back to arch, set the MAC address in NetworkManager, it didn't have function at most time, and the ipv6 address even won't change!
    Can anyone help me with this problem?
    by the way, I never get ipv6 address when I use dhcpcd.

    This is because you inadvertently used the "Report" link. But don't worry this happens rather often.

  • Can't set ipv6 static address

    As the topic states, I can not setup a static IP to save my life. I've enabled ipv6, I have a hostname6.ce1 I put the hostname (madrid-ipv6) in the hostname6.ce1 file but it will not stay set.
    I've tried the addif command, and it creates a logical interface, but I can't ping out with the address that is set.
    I'm sure I am missing something, and I am new to Solaris. I've got ipv6 static addresses setup in linux with no problems. It's just Solaris 10 that is kicking my butt.
    If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be in your debt.
    Thanks!

    edit: To darren: I've tried that as well. When the system boots, it gives me the error: "Failed to assign ipv6 address to ce1" or something similar to that.
    hmmm, I've tried that, it still doesn't seem to be working. Here is my hostname6.ce1 file:
    madrid-ipv6
    addif fd01::e2/64 up
    this is the output of ifconfig -a6:
    bash-3.00# ifconfig -a6
    lo0: flags=2002000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv6,VIRTUAL> mtu 8252 index 1

    ce1:1: flags=2000841<UP,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv6> mtu 1500 index 3
    inet6 fd01::e2/64
    and this is what I get when I ping fd01::f2:
    bash-3.00# ping fd01::f2
    ICMPv6 Address Unreachable from gateway fd01::e2
    for icmp6 from fd01::e2 to fd01::f2

    for icmp6 from fd01::e2 to fd01::f2
    ICMPv6 Address Unreachable from gateway fd01::e2
    for icmp6 from fd01::e2 to fd01::f2
    I've got to be missing something. This is all on a private switch that doesn't need to connect to the net. I need to connect an iscsi VTL to this sun system but the first step is to be able to ping the damn thing. I've checked the networking to make sure everything is connected. I can ping the VTL using IPV4, but not IPV6. I've checked on a linux system and it can ping the VTL over IPV6 so I know it is setup properly. This is just driving me nuts.

  • How to enable IP SLA on cisco switch

    Hi guys,
    I am trying to enable IP SLA on a Cisco 4948 switch (running 'cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-46.SG.bin') to test CiscoWorks IPM using this swtich as a source device. But I can't run the command "ip sla monitor" on this switch. It just has "ip sla responder". Does anyone can help me, please? Is it possible to configura IP SLA on this source switch? Or can I do it only on routers?
    Thanks,
    Regards.
    Flaviano.

    IPSLA is supported in Cisco 800, 1700,1800, 2600,2800, 3500, 3750, 3600,3700, 3800, 4500, 6500, 7200, 7500, 7600, 10000, and 12000, ASR-1K Series Routers. Future support includes CRS-1, ONS ML Card, and Cisco 7970 IP phones in 2005.
    IPSLA-VO (Video Operation) is supported on Cisco Catalyst 3560-X, 3750, 3750-E, 3750-X, 3650, and 3650-E Series switches & EtherSwitch Service Modules (SM-ES3G-16-P) which emulates a 3560 switch within the ISR's.  You can use the EtherSwitch Serv Mod in the ISR's as well and use IPSLA-VO.
    The 2900/3900 ISR's will support IPSLA-VO natively late this year.

  • AAA and 3560 Switch + CNA

    Hi
    Has anyone got this to work?
    CNA. (Cisco Networks Assistants) and AAA (Tacacs+) on a 3560 switch.
    I can’t get the CNA to work in this setup but it works fine on together with 3500XL and 3550 serie switch. With the same parameter.
    this is the aaa conf.
    aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
    aaa authentication login no_tacacs enable
    aaa authentication enable default enable group tacacs+ none
    aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ local
    aaa authorization exec no_tacacs none
    aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated local
    aaa authorization commands 15 no_tacacs none
    aaa accounting exec default start-stop group tacacs+
    aaa accounting commands 15 default start-stop group tacacs+
    aaa accounting network default start-stop group tacacs+
    ip http server
    ip http authentication aaa

    Hi
    No. I get the prompt for username and password.
    and hit enter. Then nothing happens. It looks like it's trying to build the network but it never get fines. I know it works without the aaa statement. But I can’t live with that.

  • How can i disable ipv6 in OL7?

    Hi everybody,
    how can i disable ipv6 on my OL7 box?
    In /etc/sysctl.d i have test it with the file: ipv6.conf:
    net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
    net.ipv6.conf.<interface>.disable_ipv6 = 1
    But this doesnt work.
    Does anybody know how can i disable IPv6 in Oracle Linux 7?

    What I would recommend is not to set implicit or redundant parameters:
    net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
    net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
    There is no need to disable the "default" interface, since it is already included in the "all" statement.
    I do not know, but there could be a possibility that such statements disable the network card in question, but in turn enable every other. In such case, your 2nd statement invalidates the first. Perhaps that was was part of the problem when using your other configuration.

  • How to Enable IPv6 Connection Permanently ?

    How to Enable IPv6 Connection Permanently ?
    I've searched Microsoft's websites for hours trying to enable IPv6 but no one seems to know.
    I've enabled IPv6 from the registry but it disables after restart.
    I think ESET Endpoint is disabling it.
    I have got IPv6 enabled on the Router.
    Please help.

    Hi,
    Microsoft already provide a hotfix to enable IPV6, you can access to the link below to download it for test.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929852
    Note: I made a test in Windows 8.1, these hotfix also works fine.

  • Embeded Event Manager on cisco 3560 switch

    Can someone help me please? I have EEM configured on cisco 3560 switch. The configuration is below. I want that switch inform me through email when device with particilular IP address become unavailable. For some reason this configuration is not good and I can't tell why. I already try to debug this with debug event manager action mail but didn't see any output .
    ip sla 11
    icmp-echo ip address
    frequency 20
    ip sla schedule 11 life forever start-time now

    trigger occurs 5 period 120
    action 02.0 mail server "ip address" to "[email protected]" from "[email protected]" subject "device is down"

    The mail part looks good, I'm not sure you are hitting the trigger right.
    Why not do a track on the ip sla instead of the snmp stuff?
    Here's a good example of that.

    The trunk ports are working just fine.  I have configured all necessary remote management with no issues.  However, my access ports are not working.  I have set them up exactly the same as the adjacent switch A and it works just fine, but the same configuration on the new switch has not been able to pull IP information.  I have provided information as to how the switch access ports are configured on both Switch A (working) and Switch B (not working).  I should note that I tried this with a Cisco 7940 phone and it got stuck on "configuring IP" then I tried it with my laptop and it pulled a 169 IP address.  Both were direct connections into switch B.  When I run a show mac-address-table, neither device shows up in the table.  Only the gig port MACs.  Any thoughts? Please let me know if you need any more information.

    Hi Mike,
    It looks like you're guiding me in the right direction.  I did a "show port security interface fa0/2" on the new switch and nothing was out of the ordinary with the exception of the 0 MAC addresses learned.  But then I did a "show spanning tree vlan 224" Here's what I found:

    Switch B (new switch):
    Spanning tree instance(s) for vlan 224 does not exist.
    So with this new information, and with my trunk configurations above, what did you mean by a disconnect on the trunk?

  • Doubt abt the EMI and SMI images on 3560 switches

    hi all i have a silly doubt. if i buy a 3560 with the SMI image loaded in it. and then i install a EMI image in it then will it support the EMI images. i mean my main doubt is is it just abt the images or do we need a license on the switch for running a EMI image in it.
    regards
    sebastan

    in short, YES, you can load an EMI on your 3560 as it's currently configured.
    (no license key or such to activate is required)
    if you have an SMI switch that can support EMI image, as in most cases, then you can upgrade to the EMI image with the EMI software downloaded from cisco.com.
    technically, you are required to have purchased an EMI license to be legal to use the image.
    (although you can load an EMI image at anytime)
    the license is NOT installed anywhere, just a piece of paper that confirms you paid for the software.
    if you need further information on licensing please contact cisco licensing at http://cisco.com/go/license (requires CCO login) or call 800.553.2447 and ask for 'licensing'.

    That sounds like an idea.I've had trouble with Verizon a lot .I I switch ed back to a non andriod phone cause of the expense it took 3 months and at least that many hours of phone calls &store visits to straight in it out...there's been many times things are blocked and a month later its back on the bill,u call and are told they can't do anything ...not there problem, can't b fixed from there end,I asked to talk to a sup. At was told I couldn't then she said I'd b told the same thing I insisted...I was on hold for about 20 minutes I hung up tried to call back they would not answer, I called my daughter had her call they answered when she told them they tried to blow her off too, so she went down to a store and made a complaint.. I don't have a store in our town,the customer should not have Togo through all that trouble some of this is down right criminal... I'm going through more problems again....they won't Evan discuss it with me unless I pay what's owed and the amount has still got the internet fees they've never taken off.
