Can't enable the video on the 30gig iPod Video

When I go in to preferences in iTunes and select "Video" - everything is gray'ed out and I can't select for it to update. The setting is on "Do not update videos" and I can't change it.
I can't even drag and drop the sample videos onto my ipod - it says it can't be played on my ipod.
I'm sure (hoping anyway) there is a simple solution - for my life I can't figure it out though.

Is all the music on your computer? If so, even if it deletes all the music off of your iPod, it will put it right back on (from your computer).
If all the content on your iPod (music, podcasts, photos, videos, etc.) is not on your computer, then do not set your iPod to automatically update songs and playlists.
Why can't you get the sample videos into iTunes?
Try downloading this sample video (the one for the iPod)...
Quicktime: Sample Files
Put that video into iTunes, try to convert it (if it converts), and see if it transfers to the iPod.

Hello everyone,
I am working on my friends mac to get it ready to sell. I went into the advanced options of the user and changed the name of the account. That's all I changed. I did read the warning that said if anything was changed it could cause damage, that's why I only changed the name of the user account. I didn't want to mess with anything else. Well, needless to say, I am locked out of the machine. Apparently the root user, system administrator, account was not enabled and I am stuck at the screen that I can get to with my installation disc. So how can I enable the root user account and get back onto the machine from the screen I am at? Can I enable the root user from terminal? I spent a good 8 hours yesterday researching this topic and have come up empty. Changing passwords from commands in terminal is not the problem. I am given just one account to choose from to log on and it's not accepting the password because of the changes I made in the advanced options menu.
Is there any hope of getting this thing going again? Or have I just screwed myself over?

Do you need to recover data from it before you sell it? If not you can just wipe the disk and prepare it for sale.

OSS note 668764 explains that the special stock indicator field is a display only field and cannot be changed in the source list. it is only taken over from a scheduling agreement.

Hi people, My external hard drive is not working well. When I try to make a time-machine back up a window pops up: ‘Mac-OSX can’t repair the disk. You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can’. So now I am trying to copy my back-up files to another disk so I can reformat it. But when I try to do that, the following text appears: The backup files can’t be copied because the backup volume doesn’t have ownership enabled. The problem is that I can’t enable the ownership of the back-up volume.

You may be able to restore individual items, or even an entire backup, as long as you don't happen to hit the damaged area(s). But yes, your only real option is to erase the disk and start over. You probably don't know yet what caused it. If it's the disk failing, obviously you need a new one. Other things that can cause disk corruption are power blips, being disconnected improperly, or your Mac crashing or losing power while the disk is connected, especially during a backup.
For power problems, the best solution is a U.P.S. (battery backup) system. A good surge protector will protect against power spikes, but not dips or sudden loss of power.

This is usually caused by one or more bookmarks having a long title.
You can check that folder in the Library and shorten long names.

The only way you're going to get facetime is if you purchase your device is a country that hasn't banned its use. However, I'm not sure if it'll even work if you do that. As in the program is disabled on the server level....for example I can bring my US device into Saudi but Facetime will not work until I get outside of the country's borders.
Skype is a program that's often mentioned as a work around for that country's ban on Facetime. (I know it exists for iPad, not sure if there's an iPod version)

Hi,
If you want to enable the transaction in AIX, use kregedit and enable the
same way as you enabled in NT. db_setup is not a utility to enable
transactions, where as to enable the data source for processing transactions.

Grid control should be used if you have multiple dbs to manage.
But if you still want to install dbconsole, you can use dbca as already mentioned. it's much easier to do that using dbca.
With the manual method, you create the repository via emca -repos create.
Then you configure it using emca -config dbcontrol db. This will ask for sys passwords, ports setting etc...
