Can't enroll fingerprints in HP SimplePass (DigitalPersona)

I'm trying to set up my fingerprint reader on my new (to me) Pavilion DV8T-1200 (Windows 7-64; IE9).  I log into Windows as Administrator, & then when I use the same password in SimplePass, I keep getting a message: Unable to verify password.
I just updated (via HP Support driver downloads page) from DigitalPersona which came with this year old laptop, because I kept getting the error: Login failure: Account disabled.
I searched this forum & DigitalPersona's included Help pages, with no luck.
Any suggestions?

Hi
you create new user account for windows and check if it works?

  • New X301 --- Can't enroll fingerprints.

Brand new X301 laptop and can't enroll fingerprint via Lenovo Fingerprint Software.  I enter my Windows password (same as power ON password, right?) and try to click on SUBMIT.  SUBMIT button appears to be dead.  No reaction whatsoever.  Rolling mouse over the button gets no reaction either.  What's up with this?   Machine is 1 hour old.  Help please.  Thanks.
    Solved!

Thanks for all replies.  I went to bed grumpy and when I rebooted this morning, everything worked fine.  (i.e., it registered my fingerprints with no problem).  No clue what happened overnight, but I'm thrilled and will keep my fingers crossed.

  • W550s can't enroll more than one finger in Fingerprint Manager Pro

Running Windows 7 SP1 x64 and Fingerprint Manager Pro v8.01.42 (x64). I managed to get one finger enrolled, but now when I try any finger (both hands, even thumbs), it asks me to swipe my finger, I do so 4 times, it gets to 44%, then immediately jumps to 55% and states "This finger is already enrolled in Database. Please try to enroll again using another finger." Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

Try resetting the fingerprint data in BIOS setup first:
    1.  Reboot
    2.  Press F1 to enter BIOS Setup
    3.  Change to the Security page, and then select the Fingerprint item
    4.  Choose the option to Reset Fingerprint Data, and then wait for it to finish
    5.  Press F10 to save/exit and reboot to Windows
    6.  Try to enroll fingerprints again
Only if the above doesn't work, then see my tip here about deleting the WinBioDatabase folder:

  • Unable to enroll fingerprints for the Win7 built-in Administrator account

In Windows 7 I tried to enroll fingerprints for the built-in Administrator account, but doing so failed every time with the error message The enrollment could not be completed.
I could not find a solution online and the Validity software was working just fine, as there were no issues with other users on the same system. As a work-around, I created another account with administrator privileges and enrolling the fingerprints worked just fine. My guess is that the permissions for the built-in Administrator account are different from any administrator account you can create yourself. What I noticed is that any self created account is part of the Users group, and that the built-in Administrator account is not part of this group. I'm not sure, but maybe this is the cause of the problem.
Anyway, I thought I would share my experience here, in case anyone else encounters the same problem.

    same issue in build 10049.
It would help to be more specific in the symptom description.  E.g. using Narrator may help.  (Win-Enter).  Does it say what you are "seeing" (or should be seeing)?
FWIW I think it is relatively easy to reproduce symptoms which are related to this thread's description using Narrator (Start Screen without Search bar, Search bar without Taskbar, or Search bar with Taskbar but without Start Menu
when the only time that the Search bar should appear is when the Start Menu is there, for example) so that could also help specify what your real symptom is.  BTW there are horrendous delays when using Narrator.

  • OS X Server 3 - Profile manager - I can't enroll any iOS devices

    OS X Server 3 - Profile manager - I can't enroll any iOS devices
I have OS X Server setup on a Mac Mini and an Airport Extreme.
Airport is 10.0.1.1 and server is 10.0.1.3.
Server is setup to use DNS itself by server.mydomain.com
Airport is setup to use the server as DNS and the server then routes DNS queries onward to the internet.
Essentially anyone on my internal network thinks server.mydomain.com is the server itself. This is what I want.
From the outside, anyone searching for server.mydomain.com get's some page on a free hosting site with "Server is not accessible from the internet"
I also use a self-signed certificate to secure communications. It's valid.
Now this configuration has worked for the past two years. Out of curiosity in Server 3.1.1 I decided to give Profile manager a shot. Set it up, no worries.
Installed the Trust Profile first and then the Enroll profile. Done.
I can enroll and wipe, lock any mac in my firm remotely. Everything works, except iOS devices.
Any iOS device I try it fails at "Installing profile", I tried friend's phones, my own iPad... every iPad in my firm. It fails consistently at the same step, with no error code what so ever.
Is there  a checklist I need to go through? Do I need some kind of weird certificate setup?
PS. Is it a problem if my devices are enrolled as development devices, thei UUID is in Apple's device list for beta software and iOS development?

The Problem is your DNS is being pushed locally to the iOS Device from your Airport Extreme and the DNS on your Airport extreme is undoubtedly a public form of DNS that does not recognize your private server's ip address or HQDN, in Airport Utility point the DNS at your server and let your Server provide the public DNS mapping and allow your Router to provide your Server's DNS.  This should resolve your issue and allow you to enroll your iOS Devices by logging into the Profile Manager Web Portal from the iOS Device.

  • [Solved] OpenSSH 6.8p1-1 and keychain: can't determine fingerprint

Is anyone else seeing this warning when starting ssh-agent via keychain?
Warning: can't determine fingerprint from the following line, falling back to filename
The keychain source seems to suggest that this shouldn't really be happening.
Is this a case of keychain, or ssh-agent, just needing to be updated for the current OpenSSH?

This is weird, because if I isolate that function and run my keys through it, they all pass without any error.
If you set your variable with `keys=$(ssh-add -l)` and then pipe that to this script: `echo "$keys | keytest`, it works:
    #!/usr/bin/sh
    shopt -s extglob
    while read key; do
    case "$key" in
    *\ @(SHA256|MD5):[0-9a-zA-Z\+\/=]*)
    echo "$key" | cut -f2 -d' '
    # Fall back to filename. Note that commercial ssh is handled
    # explicitly in ssh_l and ssh_f, so hopefully this rule will
    # never fire.
echo "Can\'t determine fingerprint from the following line, falling back to filename"
    echo "$key"
    basename "$key" | sed 's/[ (].*//'
    esac
    done | xargs
But that is what is generating the error message...

  • Can't enroll in instant ink

New ENVY4500e.  Connected to computer thru USB.  Can't enroll in instant ink according to support because I am not connected wirelessly!  Seems like an HP software deficiency to me!

    Hello AngryMike,
I can understand your frustrations, I really can. Not only does the printer need to be connected to a wireless network, it also needs to have an Internet connection for Instant Ink to work.
With out the printer having a direct connection to the Internet the information regarding the inks can not tallied to keep track of the number of printed pages. I am sure that HP researched the means of tallying the printed pages for some time prior to deciding to use an active Internet connection over a software connected method.
To view all the requirements for HP Instant Ink: What Are the Enrollment Requirements for HP Instant Ink?.
The printer would still be able to have a USB connection to the computer you want to use connection to the computer, the wireless Internet connection is only needed to allow the printed pages to be tallied.

  • I downloaded Firefox 4.0.1 and have not been able to use my DigitalPersona fingerprint login since. Will this be added on or can you tell me how to go back to using the older version of Firefox so I can use my fingerprint login again? Thanks

I have not been able to use my digitalPersona v4.11.3826 (fingerprint login) since I downloaded firefox 4.0.1. Will this be incorporated to the add-ons or if not, can you tell me what the easiest way is to go back to using the older version of Firefox?

EgisTec, who now provide the HP Simplepass application, have made an update of the scanner software for Firefox 4, for details see https://support.mozilla.com/questions/814397

  • My DigitalPersona Personal is no longer working. It does not appear so I can use my fingerprint to fill in user names and passwords.

The DigitalPersona Personal icon does not come up now that I've installed Firefox 4.0 beta.

I found a reference to workaround on an HP forum that has solved the problem for me. DP does not support FF 4 and the company does not plan to do so in the future. However, there is a Firefox AddOn called FingerFoxSE that bridges the incompatibility of DP and FF 4. I have installed it and it works fine. You will have to manually register all of your user names and passwords again but FingerFox handles the web pages and then calls DP to verify the password instead of having FF call DP directly. I am running Windows 7 with FF 4 final ad DigitalPersona 4.10.3790.

  • With Vers. 4 I can no longer use my HP SimplePass Identity Protection, allowing me to use my fingerprint to log into websites. err mess. "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (dpql) isn't associated with any program"

  • Fingerprint reader / HP Simplepass Stopped Working...Again! How to fix it...again!??

Okay, so I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I've been using a fingerprint reader to login to Windows since I've owned the notebook, back in 2012.  It's always worked fine.  Until a few months ago, when after I installed something, it stopped working.  I went through a bunch of steps and methods, and eventually it worked again.  Now, I had to uninstall/reinstall Norton Antivirus this afternoon, and after that, the fingerprint reader has stopped working again.  I tried a bunch of steps, but it just won't work.  I've downloaded/updated the drivers for the reader, everything.
I go into Simplepass, and it asks me "have you found your fingerprint sensor?"  I click yes.  Then it asks "are you ready to enroll?" again, I click yes.  It tells me to select a finger, which I select my right hand pointer finger.  Then it asks for my Windows password, which I enter.  Then it comes up and says "it looks like you're having some trouble. Would you like to try again?" and I click yes.  Again, it asks which finger, I select it, it asks for the password, I enter it, and then it says "it looks like you're having some trouble, etc".
Can someone walk me through how to fix this again?  I'll uninstall and reinstall what i have to, but everything says the "biometric device" is working, the drivers say I already have the up-to-date drivers...what else can I do?  ask me anything...

Just so you know, if you work for Norton, it ALL seems to tie into Norton.  This is how it broke down just the other day:
Computer wasn't even turning on, loading Windows, etc.  So I had to do a system restore, which is what I did.  This allowed me to get into Windows, AND the fingerprint reader/fingerprint login was working again.  Then Norton was popping up and saying there was an error of some kind (didn't write it down), and that I could use their "uninstall & reinstall" program to fix the issue.  I did that, it reinstalled Norton, and then I had to restart the computer.  And now the fingerprint reader doesn't work again.
Additionally, it's now asking me for 15+ Windows updates, but I'm scared to install anything else.
Maybe if I uninstall Norton MANUALLY, then download & reinstall it, then the fingerprint reader would continue to work?  Because right now, the only way to get it to work again seems to be to do a system restore...but then I run into the error with Norton when I do that...

  • Portege R700 - Enrolling Fingerprints on Windows 7

I have been having issues trying to get the Fingerprint Utility to work on my new test laptop. I have created a new SCCM build and associated task sequence which includes the utility.
However when I launch the Fingerprint Utility for the first time the finger prompt pops up which I can't bypass to register any finger prints?
I am using the version 1.0.2.32 on Windows 7.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Did you read fingerprint setup details in the user manual mate?
In use, the fingerprint authentification system will use the same username and password as defined within the windows OS. If no windows password has been configured, you must do this before starting the fingerprint registration process.
Click on Start -> All Programs -> Toshiba Utilities -> Toshiba Fingerprint Utility of click on icon in the taskbar.
The enroll screen is displayed. Enter the current account password on the windows password field. If no windows password has been configured, you will be asked to configure the logon password. Then click next.
Click the non-enrolled finger icon above the finger you want to register and then click next
The note go enrollment operation screen is displayed. Conform the message and then click next.
Then the scanning practice screen is displayed. You are able to practice swiping (three times) your fingers to ensure you use the correct method. When you finished, click next.
Swipe three times with the same finger. If succeeds, message will appear. Then click OK
Further details you will find in user manual page 82
