Can't enter my account password at startup.

Help! All of a sudden, I am unable to enter my account password when starting up. Everything boots up fine, my account icon/picture appears, but when I attempt to type the password, nothing happens. The mouse tracks across the screen okay, but clicking the mouse button or typing on the keyboard have no effect. Can anyone please help?

It's not that the password isn't recognized, it's that the keyboard doesn't seem to be recognized. The screen is frozen EXCEPT for the mouse cursor, which moves okay. But clicking on the "go back" arrow or typing with the keyboard has no visible result on screen. Tried a different keyboard and a different mouse with the same results.

Call Apple with the Serial and they will send you the ones that came with the Mac. Or search the Net.

You only have to clone your mac when using certain cable modem. You don't clone your mac when using dsl.

Is there a way to bypass entering your account password every time you want to download something from the store.?

The app store interface is maddening. if i enter my password wrong once i have to reset it?! much fail.
all im trying to do is download a free program, why do i have to enter payment information? i dont mind. but why cant i just skip it. so when i actually want to make a monetary purchase i can enter my information then?!

Security. Anything less would be easy for folks to hack your account.

How many times can I enter the wrong password restriction?

I set restrictions on my iphone to disable some apps and save battery. Unfortunately i set it a year ago and I've used it forgotten the password and now I cannot remember it.
I tried to type the password but i did twice failed passcode, i wonder how many time i can enter the failed passcodes before my iphone will be locked forever.

If you've forgotten the password, the number of times that the device will accept an invalid password is irrelevant.
Do as the manual says, restore the device using the computer it normally syncs with and restore as new. Restoring from backup will not remove the restrictions passcode.

Trying to update pixelmator. Anytime I try it tellsme "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." ???????? I have entered my account password several times and nothing happens. Any hints?

I just sign in to my account (the oprevious one, with which I bought Pixelmator was hacked and I changed the Password)
Now,anityme I try to update Pixelmator (V. 2.1) the app store tells me "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

It used to be that Spotlight had to create an index for the boot volume with the /Applications folder in order for the App Store Update option to work properly. I had a habit of disabling Spotlight for all volumes by adding disk volume names to the Do Not Index list under the Privacy tab in the Spotlight System Preferences panel, so App Store never let me update apps until I turned Spotlight back on. I turned it on until I was able to update the apps, then I'd turn it off again.
I'm currently faced with the same error message (Login with the account you used to buy the free package) but Spotlight is turned on. Apple really goes out of its way to not tell you what account you used to buy something. That's not supposed to be a big deal, I only have a couple accounts. But when I tried them all, App Store refused to let me update using ANY of them.
It's just Xcode. I can just delete the darn thing and buy it again (all 4 GB of it), but this is really annoying!

Can't enter any account info in mail after failed attempt to set up icloud.

Setting up my new MBPro I followed instructions for icloud. Couldn't get any mail service through server so went to "help" and tried following those directions on setting up account. Now my Mail feature will not operate at all. unable to input incoming server info in Mail (just remains the example script). Little color wheel just turns and turns and I have no use of mail software at all. Can't get any new accounts set up.....so far MacBook Pro is worthless for email until I can get this resolved.

Yosemite upgrade, right after entering my account password, a file starts loading before my desktop appears. (I see a download bar as if a file is loading). Never saw that before Yosemite. I have a Macbook Air.

Some multiple issues since Yosemite install...working them out. But I am puzzled by this. Never witnessed loading of files before desktop since my Windows days! Is this normal? I am especially curious because right after upgrade, I had, and resolved an issue with DownLite that I did not know I had and somehow possibly got 'awakened' with Yosemite. Want to be sure all is good....

Depends. Passcode can be set to erase all data after 10 failed attempts. If you repeatedly enter the wrong passcode, your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch will be disabled for longer intervals before you can try again. After too many unsuccessful attempts, you won't be able to try again until you connect it to the computer with which you last synced it.

OS X keeps asking mine account password at login

I have a problem. After starting up mine Mac it seems that I can't login anymore. It keeps asking for mine account password.
I'm sure that I enter mine password correctly. The shaking effect when entering a password does not appear. After entering mine account password the login window will disappear and the screen is just blue. After 15 seconds the login window will appear again.
I've already booted from the Leopard CD and reset mine password. It does not work. It just give me the same effect. Safe boot mode can also not login.
Any other ideas? The only thing I've did was installing the Office 2008 SP1 update.

I had the same problem recently. I have 2 accounts on our mac (mine and my wife's) and earlier this week I could no longer log on to mine. I kept being returned to the logon screen after entering my password. I could logon to my wife's account though.
I did an archive installation preserving user accounts and that fixed the logon problem. However, my home folder was still corrupted so final solution after reinstall was to delete my user account, then create a new one with the same name and restore my files from Time Machine.
A lot of mucking around, but all appears to be OK now.

Repeated Request for Account Password

After months of no problems, I am suddenly asked to enter my account password because the POP server has rejected the password in my keychain. Some days I just enter in (the same) password and it logs in just fine.
Other days I am prompted repeatedly for the password until I just cancel. When this happens I restart Mail which sometimes works, or I then have to reboot the computer which sometimes fixes the problem on other occassions.
Or it just mysteriously fixes itself by chance.
Why does this continue to happen? I have not changed my passwords or settings since I began using the software.

Open /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access, choose Keychain First Aid from the application menu, and proceed to repair the keychain. If that doesn’t work, you may try removing the password entry from the keychain and letting Mail create it again the next time it asks for it.
Note, however, that Mail often doesn’t correctly report what the problem really is. If Mail can connect to the server but cannot log into your mail account for some reason, it’ll ask for your password regardless of whether that’s really the problem or not. Don’t keep entering the password every time, because that’s not the problem (click Cancel instead, and take the account back online afterwards).
Some ISPs refuse connection attempts if they are too frequent, for example, or limit the number of simultaneous connections that are allowed from the same IP address, or there may be too many messages on the server and Mail times out before the server responds, or there might be a problem with the network, or there might be a problem with the server...
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Try also turning OFF all the network port configurations except the one needed to connect to Internet and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
What’s the time interval chosen in Mail > Preferences > General > Check for New Mail? If it’s set to Every minute, try changing it to Every 5 minutes.
Try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible, i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc., and see whether that makes a difference.

Stopped receiving email from existing account, now can't re-setup account

A year and a half ago when I got my BB Pearl from my employer I set it up to also receive email from my existing personal Comcast account. Just before Christmas, my BB suddenly stopped receiving any emails from that account. I have rebooted the BB multiple times since then, including removing and replacing the battery. That didn't help. Today I finally decided to just delete the Comcast account info from the BB and start over on adding it as an existing account. However when I get to the account password field, the normal keyboard function that swaps letters isn't working, so I can't enter my correct password. For example suppose my password is "spry". What I get is "aoet"--the keyboard won't switch in the alternate letter if I delete and re-type, as it does for every other piece of text I've ever entered on the BB. Help?

How do I enter a hexidecimal password on my ipad?

Can I enter a hexidecimal password on iPad to gain access to the Internet. I have already tried putting an x at the front of the character string but that didn't work.

I use WEP at home and it requires a hexadecimal password (key).
- A 64-bit WEP key is usually entered as a string of 10 hexadecimal (base 16) characters (0-9 and A-F)
- A 128-bit WEP key is usually entered as a string of 26 hexadecimal characters. 26 digits of four bits each gives 104 bits; adding the 24-bit IV produces the complete 128-bit WEP key. Most devices also allow the user to enter it as 13 ASCII characters.
I use the 64 bit since I have a legacy device that only works with that.
