Can't enter non-italic type -- what's up?

I'm a newbie to Photoshop, searched the forums and FAQ, Help, etc., and can't seem to find the reason that no matter what font style I select, all the letters are slanted to the right -- in every single "font family".  I'm on CS4 with the latest patch, etc., on WinXPPro.
I'm trying to create some text-only JPGs to insert into webpages to replace the H1 and H2 text for better appearance.
This seems too basic to be giving me a problem but...I cannot eliminate the slant/italic regardless of what style or font I use.
I'm guessing there's another setting somewhere that's throwing me, but I can't seem to find it.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Glad it worked.
It seems that sometimes opening a file with certain text settings will change the defaults in that panel.
