Can't establish connection to my hdd plugged to wi-fi router!
On Snow Leopard i solved this problem with nsmb.conf file in /etc directory.
i put this into conf file:
[default]
minauth=none
Now in Lion it doesn't work at all
i have ASUS wi-fi router with usb plugged hdd... i can see hdd in my "shared network" listbut when i trying to read files on that hdd it shows error "Vesion of server to which you're trying to connect is not supported"
how can i solve this problem?!

There were some bugs in some versions of Samba that caused this.
Have you checked to see whether there's an updated version of firmware available for your ASUS router?

Can not establish connection Oracle DB

Hi PI Gurus,
We have a sender JDBC CC, its working absolutely fine in PI dev.
when I check this CC in PI Qality it is giving me error as:
Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:oracle:thin:@204.145.15.141:1521:PERM' using the JDBC driver 'oracle.jdbc.driver.Oracledriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Can not establish connection:: SAPClassNotFoundException: oracle.jdbc.driver.Oracledriver'
It clearly says that driver is not installed, thats why connection is not getting established. Our BASIS team installed the drivers twice copied from Dev systems, still the same error is coming.
Can anyone throw some light on this, is any problem with the version?

Can you check two things:
1. whether the host name of the jdbc server u are tryin to access is present in the PI Quality system hosts file
2. Whether connectivity port is correctly opened with the jdbc server, i.e connectivity exists and is tested.

Tns_alias: ODI can not establish connection to DB with tns_alias

I have a question again.
Problem:
ODI can not establish connection to DB with <tns_alias>
Envirionment:
there is remote computer with Oracle DB (tns_alias) (connection works - tested)
there is another remote computer with Oracle DB (sid)
there is computer with ODI with (tnsnames.ora -> "...CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME = testdbx....")
Scenario:
I create physical schema (Oracle -> Insert Data server) and fill in all fields a press "Test" button and connection successful.
I press "apply", ODI should connect to remote computer for getting information.
- Remote computer with SID getting it correctly.
- Remote computer with tns_alias throws exceptin "java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: t2cGetCharSet" and shows empty blank that means information was not downloaded to ODI.
Question:
Could You generate some ideas why ODI can not download information?
Is it settings ODI problem?
Is it DB problem?

I have found problem!
file ojdbc14.jar was different for ODI and ODB. (different size and date)
I have copied ojdbc14.jar from ODB to ODI.
Now it works.

*DAC Server connection "Error - can't establish connection to DAW Server"

I'm experiencing trouble with the Oracle Data Warehouse Administration Console (DAC) server connection hanging in my Oracle BI Apps 7.9.6 install.
Architecture*
Applications Server - Machine A (Oracle Connection Services 10g R2 + Informatica 8.6.0 & HotFix 4.0 + DAC 10.1.3.4.1 services) = Linux RHEL 64-bit
Database Server - Machine B (Oracle BI Apps Data Warehouse OBAW + DAC Repository + Informatica Repository) = Linux RHEL 64-bit
Client - Machine C (BI Apps 7.9.6 + Informatica 8.6.0 & HotFix 4.0 client + DAC 10.1.3.4.1 client) = Windows x86 32-bit)
Issue*
After successfully following the Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Installation Guide for Informatica PowerCenter Users Version 7.9.6 (E14217-01) documentation I get to section 4.13 Configuring the DAC Server and I cannot create a successful connection to the DAC Server from the Data Warehouse Administration Console on my client machine.
I can confirm that I have started the DAC services on the Linux server with the . ./startserver.sh command. The icon on the Data Warehouse Administration Console turns Orange (Idle), but when I double click the icon a message box appears with the title "Server Log" but seems to hang.
If I stop the DAC services on the Linux server with the . ./stopserver.sh command the Server Log message box closes and a new message box appears stating:
*"Error: can't establish connection to DAW Server!"*
I have tried using the IP address and the actual server name as defined in the Hosts file as the DAC Server Host in the DAC System Properties but I receive the same error message.
I can also confirm that I ran the serverSetupPrompt.sh shell script successto configure the connection between the DAC Server and the DAC Repository.
Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated.

Hi Gary,
If you have the Orange icon then your client is connected to the DAC server. (If it's red then it's not, and if it's green it's connected and an execution plan is running).
If you have never run any DAC jobs (and if you're just doing the installation then you won't have I guess) then your log will be blank and you'll just get a blank log window.
Have you got any evidence that your DAC server isn't running other than the Log won't download properly?
Obviously if you stop the DAC server then you're going to get an error that the client can't connect to the server :-D
If I were you I'd continue with the installation guide, as it sounds like things are working as they should.
BTW don't forget to mark this and other responses to your posts as helpful/correct as appropriate :)

IIOP Connection, Oracle 8.1.5, JDeveloper 3.0: Can`t establish connection

I can`t establish IIOP Connection from JDeveloper 3.0 to Oracle 8.1.5 Enterprise DB Server.
Let me describe my situation:
One PC running Oracle 8.1.5 DB Server under NT Workstation 4.0 (host: leobeln)
Another PC running JDeveloper 3.0 under NT Workstation 4.0 too.
At server side, I used Net8 Assistant to configure a listener as follow:
Name: listener_iiop
Protocol: TCP/IP
Port: 2481
Host:leobeln, and checked the option: "Dedicate this endpoint for IIOP Connections"
I set de Database Service tab as follow:
Global DB Name: Test
SID: Test (both name and SID are correct)
Finally I saved this configuration and sarted the listener using LSNRCTL utility.
When try to test connection from JDev, I receive the following error message:
Can`t find resource for bundle oracle.aurora.jndi.sess_iiop.Message, key UNKNOWN_SERVICE:default.
The connection properties are:
UserName: scott
Connection Type: IIOP
URL: sess_iiop://leobeln:2481:Test
The final objective is to deploy an App Module (BC4J) on Oracle 8i platform as EJB Session Bean

Try connecting with the command line sess_sh tool that comes with your database. If that fails as well, then post a message to the Oracle JVM forum here for assistance.

BI Publisher can not establish connection to SQL Server.

We are trying to create a connection from BI Publisher to SQL Server database. However, we are getting a message 'Could not establish connection'. We tried to google to find a solution.
We are not sure what the problem is. We can ping to the SQL Server machine from the BI Application Server.
Apparently it looks like the required JDBC Driver files are missing. We are using OBIEE version 11.1.1.3.0 and 11.1.1.6.0. How do we know whether or not we have the correct JDBC driver file? And also, where we should copy the JDBC driver/jar files to.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

The "Use System User" check box is disabled. The default value for 'Database Driver Class' is "hyperion.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver". Should that be correct?
We have SQL Server 2012 but 'Driver Type' shows only two versions of SQL Server - 2005 and 2008.
Folder 'C:\oracle\product\11.1.1\obiee11\wlserver_10.3\server\lib' contains three .dll files: "64sqljdbc.dll", "x64sqljdbc.dll" and "sqljdbc.dll". And "wlsqlserver.jar" is present too in the same folder.
Any pointers, please?

Can't establish connection to localhost

As of today I seem to be having a strange issue with Firefox 31, I'm unsure as to when this problem began as I haven't developed on this project for around 2 weeks. I have a PHP Development server running on localhost port 8000 using the following command: "bin\php -S localhost:8000 -c php.ini" (without quotes)
Upon trying to connect to this server via Firefox I'm presented with "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 127.0.0.1:8000." the message adjusts to show "localhost:8000" when connecting via that method, I've tried running Firefox in Safe Mode, reinstalling Firefox and also changing the network settings to "No Proxy" from "Using system proxy settings".
I'm able to connect through Chrome, IE and also by running a cURL command.

about:networking gives no more information than I already know, after navigating to "localhost:8000" there's an entry in the DNS tab:

I've already cleared my cache and cookies and as a result "cookie list" produces "No cookies found for host localhost:8000"
I've already taken the steps in the link you provided (refer to original post), changing proxy settings has no effect, reinstalling has no effect, running firefox in safemode has no effect, firefox is allowed in the Windows firewall (not that this would make a difference since it's localhost)

Can't establish connection to server

I've gone through the Apex 3.2 installation w/o any problem; however, when I try to access the admin page for the first time I get an error:
Browser can't establish a connection to the server at myserver.mycompany.com:8080
any ideas about how I can diagnose this. I have eliminated the firewall as a cause. port 8080 is open.

AppsLogin Firefox can't establish connection to the server at hostname:8000

I have installed Oracle Apps R12......i can browse internet,,,but the AppsLogin page does not come up...i have checked the etc/hosts file ,,,looks fine.....

Can't establish connection to Mac 10 X

I have a Palm Vx using a serial dock and a serial to USB conversion cable. I am trying to HotSync with a Mac running OS 10.5.5, with Palm Desktop 4.2.1. When I press the hotsync button on the cradle, a HotSync Progress window opens on the Mac and shows the status as "Establishing Connection", but it never progresses from there. Eventually the Palm times out and disconnects. What is my problem here? How can I get the hotsync to proceed? I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall the Palm desktop software, but the result is the same.
Using the same Palm, dock, and serial to USB cable, I am able to HotSync to a PC running Windows XP. Help???

A common problem with some of these serial to usb connectors is that they aren't mac compatible. If there was a cd with it, chech it to see if there's any mac drivers. Failing that, check the manufacturer's website.
If there's still no drivers, check amazon.com - there's a veritable plethora of adaptors for very little money available.... Just a word of caution - from experience, while many of them say mac compatible, they are only compatible with mac os9 (and not with the classic environment on older versions of mac osx) so check that it is compatible with mac osx and not just 'mac compatible'.
Also, if you have your firewall turned on, it could block some connections, so check the firewall settings in system preferences.

RE2000 can't establish connection and can't be reset

Last week I bought two Linksys RE2000 Wireless Extenders. I manually configured them with the RJ45 cable provided and the lights were solid green. Both worked perfectly until I had to reconfigure my router.
I had to reconfigure the Extenders as well, I did the same manual steps and plugged one back in because it was solid green. The other extender however won't establish a connection with the RJ45 connected to the laptop so I tried resetting it (holding the reset button for 10 seconds).
I tried connecting to the extender again and did a ipconfig /release and renew to make sure I was getting a DHCP IP from the extender like I did with the other one. Getting the default windows 169.254.x.x all the time. Resetted the extender a couple more times. Tried different RJ45 cables. Green light keeps blinking and can't make a connection.
I figured it might have been the laptop so I connected the extender to the router and manually looked for a DHCP lease there so I could connect to it. Also tried a different computer.
No luck on those options, I have the feeling something is up with the second extender, but I don't know what.

Hi, how many seconds did you reset the RE2000? Reset should be at least 30 seconds and then do a power cycle at least a minute or 2. You can try to use another computer in setting up the 2nd Re2000 to isolate the problem.

Can't establish connection to webcam

when calling
ds = Manager.createDataSource(loc); // where ds is a DataSource and loc a MediaLocator
a windows opens a window where i can choose a media-device. when choosing the webcam the app crashes because of an IOException and a NoDataSourceException.
the funny thing about it is, that it only happens when i start the app in eclipse more than once. the first time it works, the window doesn't appear. if i start it again, windows shows the window as described.
if i run the application from the commandline, it works everytime but after closing the JFrame-window java keeps running, the command-prompt doesn't appear.

problem solved: i simply forgot to exit the application, i only called setDefaultClosingOperation(JFrame.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE); but never called System.exit(0);
so the first connection to the webcam keeps established because the application still runs. if i start it a second time, he can't use the webcam because it's in use by the first instance of the application.
