Can't even run iTunes.

I have downloaded and installed the 64bit version but when I try to run it, it comes up with the disclaimer, which I accept, then it disappers, then it never opens up iTunes. Can anyone help me out as I don't know how to get it to work.

It appeared to be a usual terms of service disclaimer that you had to agree to. I can't even get that to pop up now! AHH! lol I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it is not working.

    Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

    To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
    Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

    It seems that in some cases the scripts on Apple's site that are intended to query your system to offer the appropriate installer don't work as intended, taking you straight to the "Thank you for downloading" page.  Depending on the edition of Windows you are running, there are three variants of the most recent version of iTunes, with direct links to the installers as follows:
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.2.27  (64-bit) - iTunes6464Setup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 (64-bit "for older video cards") - itunes64setup.exe
    The third of these - which is actually the 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer - should be used if you get a warning about video card incompatibility when you install the standard 64-bit version, but also may resolve issues with playback, QuickTime compatibility, and problems with some third-party applications (including Outlook).

    Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update

    Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

    Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:

    The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

    Check for .dll files
    Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
    If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
    Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
    Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
    Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

  • Can't even run memtest

    Here is my set up, Athlon64 3000+, MSI K8T neo fis2r, zalman h/s (don't think it really matters) FIC 9800+, WD 40Gb 2MB  7200rpm (os), 10Gb seagate, OCZ EL3200 512Mb x 2 = 1gb(2-3-2-6).  When I power up all of the fan spin, I get an error in the promise raid screen, no bios loaded, then it continues to the VIA raid screen.  there it promts me to set up a raid array by press the tab button.  Then it starts to run MEMtest 86, it shows "loading..............." then for a split second I can see the memtest screen and then it reboots.  When I try to boot to windows it does the same thing, it asks do I want to start in safe mode.  then it reboots upon me pressing the enter key.  I've done just everything I can think of, raised the voltage to the ram, changed the timings, tried with one stick of ram, then two.  My psu is a 400w allied(3.3v-28a, 5v-40a, 12v-17a).  Ive unpluged all of the fans except the CPU fan, no workie.  One other weird note, the bios doesn't show a contant RPM for the CPU fan, it jumps from 2678 to 0.  Any help would be appricated.

    I really can't help too much except to say that we have similar systems and I have the same problem with memtest, can't even run it.
    However, I can get in to WinXP but only with the speed set to 333mhz for the RAM.  No matter what I set the timings to 400mhz = no boot.  Even at 333mhz, regardless of the timings the machine is crazy unstable.  Freezes, BSOD's, and spontaneous reboots happen whenever it feels like it.  
    At this point, I'm about to throw in the towel and order new RAM.  Fortunately, I can upgrade my XP 2500 with this RAM and not feel quite so cheated.
    1.20 didn't help in the slightest.

    I upgraded to itunes 5.0 and haven't been able to open itunes ever since. When I try to open it I get the following:

    Does anyone have any suggestions? I have uninstalled and re-installed itunes and quicktime several times. I downloaded them from apple as well as installed from the cd-rom but with no luck.     i just scampered back through the thread to see precisely which question you were replying to ... the tone your reply had me a bit worried about what i might have asked you there ...
    don't panic. when you do a System Restore over top of an installation it will take out a bunch of registry entries associated with the install, including some itunes ones.
    so in this case, it would probably be prudent to uninstall any existing itunes and quicktime you currently have. use the instructions given here:

    and use the Windows Cleanup utility if you run into trouble on the uninstall:

    then follow the standard plan of starting with a standalone install of Quicktime (using Michelle and Katrina's links to get one). download and save it to your hard drive. (run the installation from there rather than online.) once you've got that up and running, download a fresh itunes 6 installer. (again, save to your hard drive and then run it from there rather than online.)

  • K7N2GM-L board can't even run windows text-based setup!!! Help needed

    Surprise surprise another thread about problems with this board...
    Last night I put it all together.
    512mb of Kingston PC3200 memory (clocked @ 166MHz though, so it can't be that it's too fast), 80gb hard drive, Athlon XP 2500+, 300W Antec SmartPower psu. I even underclocked the CPU from 1800MHz to 1100MHz and the FSB from 166MHz to 100MHz, same unsuccessful results.
    Even though I have tried two floppy drives, they always work as if you have the IDE cable plugged in backwards, when it actually isn't. This tells me something is wrong with a controller somewhere on the board...?
    When trying to run Windows Setup (booting from the XP cd), after it loads all the drivers and files needed, and says "Setup is Starting Windows" or whatever at the bottom, it locks up. Sometimes it locks up right after the POST screen. The first time I turned it on the display was somewhat green with funny characters and everything was displayed at a weird resolution. Never did it again after that...
    First I thought it was incompatible memory. So I removed the memory in the board, took a few DIMMs out of this board and tried them; same results. All the other DIMMs I own ARE Kingston if you look at the sticker, however two of them were Hynix 256MB and the other one was a Samsung 512MB if you actually look at the DIMM up close... then I used a different hard drive; same result.
    Then I downloaded the latest firmware update and booted using ultimate boot CD, then swapped discs and flashed the BIOS from CD-R. Didn't do a thing to help. It successfully flashed of course, but it did not fix my problem... so it's gotta be something physical I'm guessing??
    So it's either the board or the CPU. I then took out the Athlon and put it in this A7N8X Deluxe board. Worked FINE; Windows booted, and I even tried booting from the Windows XP disc I was trying to use on the other machine. No problems whatsoever, everything worked perfectly, no locking up.
    The only other possbility is that a 300W power supply can't efficently power an nForce board, but I doubt that's the case. The mobo has onboard GeForce 4 VGA, and then there's the CPU, DVD-R drive, floppy, RAM... that's about it. A 300W (especially Antec SmartPower) should be able to handle that. I read a consumer review on newegg about this board, some guy got a 1.8GHz Athlon (that's how fast a 2500+ is) working with a dinky 220W PSU, so there's no reason why a 300W can't!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated... even if it's just something reassuring. I want to make sure I tried every possible option available to me before RMAing this board and paying the restocking fee. If it's the memory I'm gonna be mad, because Kingston makes good memory, and I don't want to RMA that too (more restocking fees...) I can't take the board back, only exchange. I never should have bought this board in the first place after seeing all these complaints, man do I wish I came across this board earlier!! :(

    I had the same problem, when switching over to iTunes 11. I downloaded the software through Apple Software Update, and when I tried opening the software, it popped up with an error message. The support forums suggest a complete uninstaall/reinstall, which I did. iTunes 11 now works without a single problem. Fair warning, tho: Back up all files pertaining to iTunes (music, videos, etc.) BEFORE uninstalling.

We had the previous version and it worked fine, but we needed to update it after my son got his ipod touch.     That can sometimes be caused by pop-up blockers and/or web accelerators. If you switch all your pop-up blockers off (in the web browser, security software and any other utilities with that function) and/or switch off your web accelerator, does the download go through any better?

  • I tried to restore my iTunes with a previous version on my time machine, but now I can't even open iTunes?

    The iTunes icon in my dock and my Applications folder doesn't look like iTunes anymore.  It won't open or even give me an error message.

    Just guessing here.....I wonder if iTunes would be seen as an older version by the SoftWare Updater?....if so perhaps just updating via S.U. might get you going.....
