Can't export large movies

I'm having a problem in iMovie where the larger the movie is, the lower quality I can export it in. iMovie either always quits unexpectedly, or the export just stops and iMovie keeps running. I never had this problem on my old MacBook (late 2009) running Snow Leopard, but now I'm on a MacBook Pro Retina running 10.8.2. I have about 78 GB free on the hard drive, so that's not a problem. And I can't export it to an external drive, either. This is really frustrating: I could always export to full 1080p on the old MacBook, but can't do it on this brand new computer, and as the videos get larger, the lower quality it lets me export in.

Ok, I deleted Perian now. But the crash still occurs..

  • Can't export any movie

    Hi,
I've had Premiere Elements 10 (Education edition) for a while now, however, it's been a while since I've made a movie.  I tried to create a short movie using a range of photos or a couple of videos.  Either way, I can't export the movie.  The "Export"option is greyed out.  I'm on a Mac using 10.8.2.
I'm a novice with this software.  So a clear explanation on what I can do to fix this would help greatly.
    Thanks heaps.
    Joe.

  • How many times can you "Export - Quicktime movie" the same ProRes 422 file until it starts to lose quality?

Lets say you are done with your project & you want an uncompressed copy of it as your master. If you keep importing it back into Final Cut Pro, & keep exporting (Quicktime movie), will it ever start to lose quality?

I've never seen a number given, but would think it is very high.
    Apple describes ProRes here:
    About Apple ProRes
    And in that document says:
"while remaining visually lossless through many generations of decoding and reencoding."
I don't think I've ever seen degradation caused by recompression or multiple compassion, but as a workflow if you output a master file, then re-import it to add graphics and export that, you would only be 1 generation down from the master file. If you wanted to make multiple versions, you can always go back to, and re-import,  the master file and make the changes, then export, so all you exports stay only 1 generation down from the master file.

  • Can not export my movie from iMovie '09

    Hey there,
    Have a problem.
Been working on a nice clip, wanted to export the movie and I get this error message that sais:
Unable to prepare project for publishing.
The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-50)
What shall I do?? Can anyone help me out?
I have enough memory on my disk...
    Thanks in advance!

I cannot help you because your description of the problem is very vague. First what software did you update, iOS or iMovie. Second where are you trying to export iMovie Films to?

  • How can I export a movie with audio that I have edited in logic 9 to a quicktime movie

I imported a quicktime movie into logic and added audio and effects but when i export it the original audio from the quicktime movie is still there even though it doesn't sound in logic!

    Hi
One of teh final steps in the Export to Movie process is a dialog box where one can select which of the audio tracks embedded within the movie are included.
You must actively de-select those tracks that you do NOT want to include in the Export.

  • Can't Export to .mov

I'm attempting to Export using Export > Quicktime Movie... It only gives me the option to Include Audio & Video, Audio or Video Only, Markers and whether or not to create a Self-Contained Movie...
Whenever I hit Save, it creates a Final Cut Express Movie File, not the .mov I'm expecting... I was able to do this before so I'm not sure if I accidentally changed something... Please help...

    Hi(Bonjour)!
When your export a quicktime movie, the file is encoded with the same codec as your sequence (and miniDV NTSC or AIC are pretty too large files for posting on the net).
Did you check on facebook to get specific infos about supported codec and frame size?
Once you'll get those infos, *export with quicktime conversion* and select the right settings to get a suitable format for posting on the web.

  • Can't export to movie / test movie since yesterday... even reinstalled!!

    Hello,
I was working on a project for a few days... It all worked
fine, I was able to export to flash movie, test the movie etc..
But since yesterday, I can't export to mive anymore... it
asks me the file name and then the settings window appears, as
usual. When I click OK, the progress bar appears and either it
freezes, or I get a Windows error message pops up saying Adobe
    Flash stopped responding...
I even reinstalled Flash, didnt work.. I then deleted some
layers , just to check if it would work, but now I got the message
"flash is out of memory"... and it froze again... (i never got that
    memory message again)..
    I'm using Flash CS3, Vista 64bit, 4GB Ram ...
    Please Help

I've had this problem a number of times. Usually you don't
have enough memory. One way I get around it is to take your
completed file and copy all the frames and paste them into a new
document. Do not save the new document and then try and export the
    files. This should work.

  • Can I export a movie other than to iPhoto?

Is there any way to export a movie from the iPhone to the computer other than using iPhoto?  Also, what video formats are used in iPhone and iPhoto?

On a Mac, you can import them to your iPhoto library using iPhoto, or directly to your pictures folder using Image Capture.
Here's how:  Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to your computer, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
Find the formats at the top left of http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
To sync movies back to your iPhone's photo albums, iPhone, iPad and iPod touch: Syncing photos via iTunes, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
If you drag them from your iPhoto library to your iTunes movies library, you can sync them to the iPod app on your iPhone.

  • Adding titles after exporting large movie

Is there any way to add titles to an exported file simply? I just want to add on title to a section that I forgot to put in. I really don't want to wait another 4 and a half hours for imovie to export a new large movie. Any suggestions?

I suppose you could use QuickTime Pro to cut out just the portion of your movie needing titles and import that back to iMovie.
When you're done, export and copy and paste it back in again using QuickTime Pro.

It costs a few bucks, but QuickTime Pro is a handy tool to have around.

  • Can't export entire movie

Whenever I try to export a movie it doesn't export the entire movie, only the first 15 seconds or so. This happens not matter what file format I am trying to export to.. WMV, MOV, AVI etc. When I export the movie on my home computer (PC) it works fine. Could this be a problem with my settings? I've tried many different settings and it still doesn't work.

I paid $29.00 for it. I am starting with a Quicktime file and would like to export it to an AVI file. I am exporting from Quicktime pro not flip4mac (although I do have the full version of flip4mac software). The same thing happens not matter what file format I export too.
I think there is a problem with my Quicktime pro software or I don't have the correct settings when exporting.

  • I just upgraded to the latest version of IMovie and now I can not export my movie so that I can publish it.

latest version of iMovie has share but I can not get my movie to save to a file.  all buttons click and it appears to have saved but I an not find the movie in the folder I saved it.

I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this  thread for background.

  • Can't export because movie is too long (9:42 minutes).

Hello, I have a series of 12 hour long MP4s.  I wanted to merge them all into one movie that I could store under one album cover on my iPad.  I figured I would use iMovie so I put them all in one project.  Then tried to export.  After three or so hours of "preparing the project" an error popped up saying that the file is too long.  I have over 600GB of free space on my harddrive so it isn't that.
What should I do without shortening the video?
    Thanks!

Are you using version 8 or version 9? It's hard to tell because you reference both.
In version 9, if you go to the Share tab and select the Computer option, you'll be taken to a screen with seven output options.
Audio wil be listed as your last option. (You do have to click on the Audio listing to select it.) and MP3s are certainly among the options listed on the Preset menu.
If you can't see it, you need to scroll down or resize your panels -- or your computer monitor may not be large enough. But it's there.

  • Exporting larger .mov files

I've read that using standard (4:3) or widescreen (16:9) projects, iDVD can only handle 15 mins or 7.5 mins of video respectively in drop zones. I know that this is probably a dumb question but how else can I get a larger video onto a disk?
    Thanks

Thank you. That's very helpful. I have a couple of follow-up questions if I may. A 2 hour video would obviously be a very large file. Would this have to be exported from FCE in a compressed form to burn a DVD? If so, which format? Also, when I export from FCE using "Quicktime movie" fully contained, I end up with two .mov files: one wiht the Quicktime logo and another with a clip from the film on the thumbnail. The latter is what I have been using. Thanks again!
