Can't export sound

I have a video and audio track in a new project.  It looks/sounds fine in Premiere but once I export, the audio isn't there.  Instead I hear this loud buzzing almost screeching sound periodically.  There's a buzz...silence...buzz...silence that are a few seconds apart.  The audio file is an m4a, a song I purchased from iTunes.  Here are my export settings:
Source: 1920x1080
Output 720x480
Why isn't it outputting to 1920x1080p?
Export Settings:
Format: QuickTime
Preset: NTSC DV Widescreen 24p
Export Video checked
Export Audio checked
48000 Hz, Stereo, 16 bit
DV/NTSC 24p
I also converted the m4a audio file to an MP3 and added it to the project.  I clicked the eye on the m4a audio track so it doesn't play.  Only the video track and the MP3 track were available at that point and played in Premiere.  However, once I exported, only the audio played in the MOV file, no video. There was a black screen.  It was also a huge file - 1.34GB.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Here's my setup:
Production Premium 4
Macbook 2Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM
Once last thing, the video doesn't render to well within Premiere.  It's jerky, doesn't render all frames and sometimes can sit on one frame for a while.  Is that because of my machine resources?  What specifically - processor?

Now, MP3 files can often cause problems. They are also highly compressed. I find them to be poor choices on many fronts.
It appears that you are going from an iTunes piece. Is this correct?
Now, I am on a PC, so there will likely be differences here, but this is my workflow from iTunes:
1.) create Playlist in iTunes with the necessary music
2.) Burn that Playlist to CD
3.) Rip the CDA material from the CD as WAV (Uncompressed). This will be 44.1 KHz 16-bit. From my audio editor (where I do the ripping), Audition in my case, I Save_As PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit.
4.) Import that file into PrPro for use.
Note: you might want to use another, non-compressed Mac audio format. I do not know how well, or poorly, Mac's work with WAV files.
I've never encountered the behavior that you describe.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • How Can I export Sound Files for Sound mixing?

Can someone please explain me the process of exprting sound sound files for the Sound Mixer & Composer? How do I deliver it to them?

    Welcome to the forum.
First, what version of PrE are you using, and then, on what OS version?
In general (specifics can come, with the above info), one would Share/Publish+Share (or Export in older versions) the Timeline as an intermediate Audio-only file. That would be Imported, or Opened in the audio-editor program.
In PrE 11, or 12, one would go to Publish+Share, and then Computer. There, they would scroll down the list, to Audio. Note: the scroll bars are not easy to see, but easy to miss. Look to the far right of the Panel. With Audio selected, choose PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit. That will get you the best file to edit further with your DAW. When that editing is complete, use PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit, then Import the resultant edited Audio file into the PrE Project, placing it on an empty Audio Track, say Audio 2, or 3. To maintain its position, I would place the CTI (Current Time Indicator) at exactly the point that you want that edited Audio file to be, perhaps at the start of the Timeline. Then, with Snap turned ON, the edited Audio file should snap to the CTI.
When it is in place, you can Delete the other Audio (that which you exported for additional editing), or just go to the Audio Mixer, and check Mute for any Tracks, that contain that original material.
Hope that helps, and if you can let us know a bit more, then someone can step you through any "gray areas," for your specific version.
    Good luck,

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

  • How can I add sound to SWF Exported from Imageready

I am making an animation in image ready, and I would like to ad sound to it.  I am new to Imageready still getting use to making animations.  How can I add sound to my exported animation?

As Mylenium suggests, using Flash, or Premiere Pro, will allow you to add the Audio. With the SWF, Flash would be the first choice on my system. There are also other programs, with the capability to edit the SWF. Moyea has some, and there are also freeware editors.
I have an old version of Swish (supplemental to my Flash program), but do not think that my old-timer has any Audio capabilities - maybe I just never looked?

  • How can I export m2ts footage with 5.1 audio in PP CS5.5?

    Dear All!
I have a 90 minutes project which made from 4 sequence. Sequence settings are the followings : AVCHD 1080p 25fps square pixels , 5.1 channel master audio.
I made the sequences from avchd file-s, which recorded with Sony HDR-CX700V with AVCHD 1080p 25fps and Dolby digital 5.1 sound.
Right now I finished the project with lots of effects and imported After effects compositions, and I cannot find any setting to create 5.1 sound.
I have Mainconcept codec suite, but this offer m2ts 1440*1080i settings only.( And I cannot configure the mainconcept codec settings.)
Do you have any idea how can I export the project without any degradation, and with 5.1 audio? The original footages recorded with this properties : H264/AVC - top field first - 22.000 Mbit/sec.
    And I use in the project some 720p H264/AVC - progressive - 8.001 Mbit/sec videos.
    Please help! Thanks a lot.

You have to consider a couple of things. Mixing 1080 and 720 material is best done in a 720 sequence, because uprezzing will seriously deteriorate quality, unless you accept black borders. That also means exporting a 720 format as maximum, unless again you accept serious quality loss. Whatever the resolution you choose, exporting AVCHD material to anything else than uncompressed, Lagarith or UT will entail a generation loss and thus quality loss. The best export settings are dependent on your delivery medium. DVD, BD or web.
Since you are working in a 1080 sequence, the quality loss of uprezzed 720 material is not a big issue, apparently, so what is the relevancy of 'the same quality' on export when you have already compromised quality?

  • Can't export 16 bit tiff in A3.1.3  Lion

If I try to export a 16 bit tiff, the extension automatically changes to jpg.  I can only export an 8 bit tiff.  Thanks for any tips.

Aloha Tom and Ashley. Perhaps I should start another thread. This is my first time looking for help in this way. Thanks in advance Ashley are you going from Keynote to iMovie to FCE? Sure would be nice if we didn't need so many steps! The only reason I am in FCE is because I have been unsuccessful in getting a QT export from Keynote that marries sound file with movie and is stable.
Tom here is how I exported. Playback uses: manual advance, Compression H.264, Frame rate 29.97, keyframe - all, data rate automatic, compression quality - best. Then I imported to FCE, married music and movie (so easy), rendered and exported with same settings. Big black area around movie, little tiny movie in middle. Then I discovered on the Sequence canvas there is a drop down with the choices <image> <image with wire frame> <show overlays> When I select image with wire frame it looks like it is creating a larger letterbox. But the export output when it is large is both fuzzy and distorted even when I import a 1920 x 1080 version.
Tom/Ashley perhaps this isn't the program to use. All I need is a high res 16:9 QT with music and movie married into one file and stable being used on computers and LCD players. It will not be TV viewed. I could reframe the Keynote to 4:3 if I have to to get the viewing size and image quality.
What would you suggest. And again thank you. I have been fiddling with this for weeks, with progress but no success. Cathy

  • How can I, or can I export my songs on my ipod back to my computer?

How can I, or can I export my songs on my iPod back to my computer?
The songs on my iPod Video 5th Gen now, were at one time on my computer, but have since been erased. Why can't I export the songs from my iPod back on to my computer? I have this same problem with my other devices (iPad 3rd Gen and iPod Nano 6th Gen). I am really frustrated now, because it seems as if I have to start all over again. This will be a royal pain in the butt! I don't understand why Apple makes this so hard and impossible to do this. Please help, anybody!!

    Greetings Ba25,
It sounds as though you would like to transfer content from your iPod to an iTunes library. You can transfer purchased content from iPods by following the directions in the article below:
Re-download or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to a computer - Apple Support
This feature works only for content bought from the iTunes Store. Any items that you imported from audio CDs or received from other sources won't copy from your device to the iTunes library.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • Can't export (queue) out of ppro into adobe media encoder after update

i just updated everything (cuda, nvidia, os 10.8.2, 6.0.3) and now i can't export from ppro into adobe media encoder.  as soon as i export out with any preset across multiple projects and hit play, i get the sheep sound almost immediately.  before this gets put in the AME discussion queue consider that AME works fine either when importing an AE composition etc.  so it seems to be premiere related.  thanks!

Actually I'd recommend uinstalling all the adobe software on your PC if possible. Because truthfully if you have a decently fast internet connection or you have the installer for the suite on your system it really doesn't take that long to do a complete install. Plus when you do a complete install it's much more likely to fix the issue plus then you can use the Adobe CS cleaner tool which makes your odds for success much higher so that is what I'd recommend. If you follow the instructions from this link everything will go smoothly.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
I know in the past I have fallen into the trap of troubleshooting something for a few days, only to end up uninstalling then using the adobe CS cleaner tool, then reinstalling and then BAM everything was now fixed lol...
Then I always ended up feeling silly for spending so much time on it instead of just doing a fresh install. Although I had no way of knowing that to begin with unfortunately. Hindsight is 20/20 most of the time.
However you can technically try uninstalling Premiere by itself if you want to try that first. If my memory serves me correctly when you uninstall Premiere it will uninstall Encore and AME as well.

  • Can't export as Html (Waiting for all files to be ready...)

Made a bunch of updates last night to a client site.  Everything looks great except I can't export as Html. Had my sister try to export on her computer and we both get to 87%, then it permanently stalls, saying "Waiting for all files to be ready" (See screenshots). We've ensured that no files are open or being previewed. We've rebooted and tried saving to a different location, all with no change, we still get to the 87% mark and stop. Please help. I have a client waiting for this site update.
    Details:
    Windows 7
    Sony Vaio
Muse Version - 4.1 Build 8 *see screenshot
    ****Update:
I can preview the entire site in a browser as well as preview each page individually, but cannot finish a html export past 87%.

Odd are if you wait long enough, potentially a few hours, it will complete.
This huge performance hit sounds exactly like a bug that's fixed for the Muse CC 5.0 release due out next week. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Export Sound to MP3?

Is there a way to Export Sound to MP3 in QuickTime Pro? Is there some sort of plugin that you download or buy to add this feature? I know iTunes can create MP3 files, but I'd love to be able to do it in QuickTime Pro.

Thanks for the info Rob. The sound plays fine in Flash. The export settings are: 16-bit stereo 44.100kHz H264. Could the video H264 compression be the problem? Without the H64 compression the video triples in size. Something I'm trying to avoid. I will give no audio compression a try.

  • Can not export to a quicktime movie

So, I've spent the past two weeks putting this wedding video together on final cut express HD 3.5.1 and I'm all set to burn it to a DVD. I figured the easiest way to do this would be through iDVD. iDVD recommends that, while in FCE, I choose the "Export to quicktime movie" command to create a quicktime file that I can then drag and drop to iDVD. Sounds easy enough, but I simply can not export my project to QT in FCE. Every time I attempt to do so, one of two things happens: 1) after about a second of "writing audio and video" it quits w. the following error message: "file error: unknown file" or 2) the entire project is "written," but the created QT file will not open up and does not give a helpful explanation as to why.
By no means am I married to iDVD or QT if anybody has any other suggestions as to how I can feasibly get my FCE project somehow burned onto a DVD. But if anybody has any suggestions w/ or w/o exporting to QT, please please please help me as soon as you can. This is my sister's wedding video and she and her husband will be moving to colorado next week! I really need to get this to her before then.
My scratch disk is an external HD - USB-HDD (FAT32) Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, Memory: 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

I have to plead ignorance regarding the firewire "drive" that you're referring to. My USB-HD is connected with a firewire cable. I'm not familiar with the distinction between this type of connection and a "firewire drive."
You might be interested to know I was able to successfully export a ten-minute DVD clip (with multiple tracks and rendered video) excerpted from my final cut project and subsequently burn it to a DVD. It didn't look like it had exported successfully, because it was still a .fcp file. I simply changed it to a .mov and changed the default opener from FCE to Quicktime and "voila" I had a quicktime movie. Too bad I can't get the same thing to work for the two-hour project.
Nonetheless, the fact that I was able to get the clip on a DVD gives me confidence that somehow, some way I can convert my whole project to a quicktime file. It's my hope that someone will read this forum and burst forth with a fresh, imaginative approach keeping in mind I'm not about to run out and spend two hundred bucks on a third hard drive I don't need.
Thanks for your suggestions. Please keep them coming if you have any other ideas.

  • I can not export photos onto DVD. After I click export, close iPhoto, click Finder, At this point I can't find the file to burn. (copy to be used on Windows) Sorry for the lame question....new to mac

I can not export photos onto DVD. After I click export, close iPhoto, click Finder, At this point I can't find the file to burn. (copy to be used on Windows) Sorry for the lame question....new to mac

So it sounds like you are trying to burn a DVD with photos on it so the photos can be either transferred to or displayed on a Windows PC, is that correct?
For the purposes of this I am going to assume you are using iPhoto '11.
Gather the photos you want to burn to DVD in one album in iPhoto. This is not absolutely necessary but it sure makes things easier for me.
Select that album, then go to the File menu and select Export...
In the dialog that shows up, select the File Export tab. Select the setting you want to use for export. Click the Export button.
Another dialog will show up. Set the location to Desktop and click the New Folder button. Name the folder something nice and descriptive and click the Create button.
Click the OK button. Quit iPhoto as the rest of this work will be done in the Finder.
You will now have a folder on your desktop with that nice descriptive name. Find it and select it. Go to the File menu and from it select Burn "Descriptive folder name" to Disc...
Insert a blank DVD when prompted.
Let the finder complete the work and eject the disc afterwards.
    That's it. Best of luck.

  • Made  4 min video of Pix, can't export.

Have Fin Cut Pro X for a couple months.  Just installed MacKeeper.  Now I can't export to anything, Youtube. imov. DVD, etc.   Export to imov took about 3hr for 4 min video and then got message Cannot Open File.  Selected imov icon for the video, message read File May Be Damaged.  Can't Export anywhere. DVD said File To Large For Disk.   I heard I may need to reinstall Fin Cut.  If so how do I do it?
    Thanks

Your instinct is probably right. MacKeeper has been a problem for other FCP X users. Search this forum for repeated questions and the usual answer is "Trash MacKeeper." You may also need to redownload FCP X.
The message about "file too large for disc" sounds like a clue as well. How much space remains on the disc to which you wanted to export your 4 minute video?
Finally what version of the operating system are you using? Probably not 10.2 as it says in your message.

  • Can NOT export any files

    Hey all.
I recently bought a Mac book Pro 17" Core 2 Duo 2.33Ghz machine. Love it!
Lightning fast, quick, and so on.
The only problems i am experiencing are quicktime related. For example, I have an .avi movie, and before on my 1.67Ghz 15" PB G4, I had no problems at all exporting it to any file type I want. It was usually for my ipod. Now, I can't export any thing, from any file type, to any file type.
I tend to get the error -43 or 6. I am saving my files to an external FW HD, which gave me no problems in the past, and continues to give me none now on my old computer. When i try to export now to that HD, it fails immediately. If i try to export to my desktop for example, it will move for a few seconds, then fail.
Also, I am using MPEG Streamclip for some of my movies, and I have trouble writing movies there, too. I know it utilizies QT heavily, so I feel that the problems are related.
Also, does anyone know how to play a Xvid file? I can open them in QT, but have no sound, only VLC allows me to play them with sound.
    Thanks so much!

Reinstalling FCP would have been my suggestion, that's what I finally had to do a few weeks ago. Preferences usually do not affect this behavior AFAICT. On my systems, quitting without an error box or without an offer to send comments to Apple indicates a bad media file somewhere in the project. So we configure FCP to open into a blank project and then try to figure out what might have been messed up. It is usually one of the last rendered or imported media files.
Listen, this is not necessarily the best advice. You should wait till you get other suggestions
So, suggest your sort your scratch folders by date, move everything that was created AFTER YOUR LAST GOOD SESSION to the trash and try it again.
Warning, FCP can look in the trash so you may have to actually empty it and recreate all of those missing files.
