Can't export to tape !   Help !

Hi,
I'm having some trouble exporting an HDV sequence back out to tape from Premiere Pro CC.
I click on "File > Export > To Tape".
Then the "render and record" window pops up.
I click ok, but instead of the render line coming up and then recording, it just jumps to the "Transcoding to HDV" box, and almost instantly just returns to the "Render and record" one without doing anything.
And when I try to export a DV sequence, the VCR starts recording but received neither picture nor sound from PC.
Import works normally !
The problem is the same regardless of the recording device: Camcorder Canon HV20 and XHA1, or VCR Sony M25 .
Curiously, a few weeks ago, export was ok.
I don't understand !!!
With Premiere Pro CS6, everything is ok, both import AND export.
Has anyone experienced something like this before ?
Thanks in advance for your help !

Same problem here, double checked on another system with Adobe Premiere CS6 export works fine.
The same project settings / sequence settings (HDV 1440x1080@50i in Premiere CC and unable to export to Sony HDV deck.  It starts rendering and writing but image stays black.
Using an other NLE software on the same system exports normally, so the firewirecard / deck and connections are fine.
Device control is the same as in CS6, disabled mercury engine (problem in the past)
Any idea would be appriciated

  • Can't export to tape...HELP PLEASE

    Hi,
I can't seem to export my sequence to tape on my Sony DCR-PC8E PAL camcorder.
I select select File -> export -> export to tape
It says it is ready; starts the camera recording automatically; but the camcorder screen remains blue and no signal is recorded.
The camcorder says 'DV IN' on the screen.
Sending a sequence to tape from windows movie maker works fine.
    Capturing from tape works fine.
Anyone got any ideas on how to make this work?
    Thanks D.

You have to change the playback settings in the sequence settings for each sequence.

  • Can't export to tape on Premier Pro CS4 Extended

When I attempt to export to tape from Premier Pro CS4 Extended, version 4.1.0, to a DV Cam, the tape rolls and records (with device control) but I get no video or audio.
    I have:
-selected the timeline for the sequence
-the work area bar is over the entire sequence
-I’ve made sure the tape is record enabled
-I have tried two DV cameras, and three fire wire cords
-I am able to capture video into the computer using all of the above
-I’ve tried moving my project from my external hard drive to my internal one
    Still no export…….
    Any ideas why?

  • CS3 Exporting to tape HELP!

Hi!  I am using Premiere CS3 on Windows XP. I have a Panasonic mini DV camcorder plugged in. I am trying desperately to work out how to export my project to tape. I have the settings okay. I set the 'Assemble at timecode' to 10 seconds. I had recorded 30 seconds of black onto the tape previously. When I click
on 'Record', the camcorder gets itself to 10 seconds, frame by frame, and then stops-  and I get a message of 'Recording Failed'.
I've tried it having the camcorder playing and on pause, and also stopped, but on playback setting.
    What am I doing wrong?!
PRIZE for anyone who can fix this for me!!!

nope. sorry. to be honest I sorta think I recall that exporting to tape isnt a happening thing with premiere cs3...like it doesnt actually do that...but my memory is not so great as I am losing brain cell function on a regular basis.
is lemonbaden in any way related to baden baden ?..  a great great grandfather came from there ( baden baden ).

  • Can't export to tape - Premiere Pro CS3

I'm using Vista 64 bit and haven't noticed other problems. The file is not HD.
Export to Tape is grayed out in Premiere and other programs. Should I be able do the export even so, if everything is set up right? I'm going through a Sony DSR-11 to VHS. I set the DSR-11 to record (with no tape in it) as well as the VCR. When I put in a VHS tape with video on it, it shows up on TV, but when I try to come in from Premiere, the screen is blue and shows the time elapsed if I play the blank tape or try to record on it. And nothing gets recorded.

Basically what you are doing is a D-A (Digital to Analog) passthru with your Sony, right? I'm not familiar with that camera, but if the manual does not cover D-A operation, you might try placing a blank tape in the camera. If that has no effect, you might try placing the camera in Play Mode. Different cameras behave differently. That's why I mentioned the manual. It *might* have instructions for doing the passthrough operation, though more often, one is doing an A-D passthrough.
Also, does this camera offer passthrough? Many UK/Euro models have this feature disabled, an a lot of mfgr's are omitting it entirely.
Good luck, and please let us know if you find the exact scheme to do the direct D-A transfer.
    Hunt
PS One could record to miniDV tape, and then Play to the VHS recorder. Downside - uses a tape and takes twice as long, but might get you to the VHS in less time than tracking down the exact sequence to do it via passthrough.

  • Help! Deck rental ends Monday, and I can not export to tape...

I am trying to export my movie to tape from FCP to the sony dsr-1500. I started to export, and made the mistake of stopping to go back and see if it worked. Now I have time code on about 3 minutes of tape, and the deck will no longer record on the tape. How can I erase\fix the time code issue, so that I can record to this DVCAM tape? Thanks.

    Frankie,
It is nit true that you cannot control the DSR1500 from within FCP.
It can be done over FireWire and over RS422.
For the latter you'll need extra hardware, so let's asume you don't have that. Then you'll will have FireWire-control left.
I suppose the video Signal goes from FCP to the deck over FireWire?
Then check ON THE DECK: (and see what happens in the deck's display)
    MENU button.
Tap UP or DOWN, until you see SETUP MENU.
TAP Right Arrow once to select this setup menu.
Tap Up or DOWN, Until you see INTERFACE
TAP Right Arrow once to select this INTERFACE menu.
Tap Up or DOWN, Until you see REMOTE I/F
TAP Right Arrow once to select this Remote menu.
Tap Up or DOWN, Until you see i.LINK
    now press SAVE.
Set the deck to REMOTE with the switch top-right.
FCP now can control your deck.
    Go to FCP
    Select the sequence.
    Remove in and out points
Go to File > Edit to Tape
    Go to the Mastering-tab
Under LEADER:Choose Colorbars and black that you want to have before your program.
(Use the checkboxes. and fill in the amount of seconds).
I'd advice to at least have 1 minute of color bars/black before the start of your program.
    Under MEDIA select ENTIRE MEDIA
UNDER TRAILER check the checkbox and select at least 10 seconds of black
Go to the Device Settings tab. Choose the right Device control FireWire NTSC I suppose, because you live in USA right?
Now go to the VIDEO tab.
    Rewind your tape
Look on the deck what the timecode is of the first frame,
Now in the lower left corner of the EdittoTape window fill in a TC that is 10 seconds higher that the start TC of the tape.
In the top-middle of the Edit to Tape window choose MASTERING (not editing)
NOW find your sequence in your browser and pick it up and drag it over the video part of the edit to tape window. Keep mouse down until you have the mouse over the ASSEMBLE part. Release the mouse. Let FCP render if needed and press OK to start when it is asking if you are ready.
    Well. Is this working?
And if not. Tell us exactly what went wrong and in what step.
NB: On the deck menu it could be that you can't find the right settings. Look for ADVANCED menu then. You might be in Basic menu...

  • IMovie 08  v 7.1.1 - Can't export - Error -108 - Help Please!

    Please can anyone help?
I'm a new Mac user and have just imported and edited my first iMovie. I tried to export it (assuming I could then burn it to a DVD?) but never got that far.
I'm attempting to export it as a 'large movie' to Finder.
I get an error telling me it has been 'unable to prepare the movie for publishing due to an error (error code -108)'
Please has anyone got any ideas if I'm doing something wrong?
    Thanks!
    D

Looking up error -108, I got a lot of hits on goggle about memory errors returning error -108.
On this hunch, I simply rebooted my Mac Pro.
I opened iMovie 7.1.1, and exported the same file, no problem.
So it must be a memory leak or some sort of memory related issue. (I have 4 gigs of ram in my machine.

  • How can I export to tape in CS4 without a glitch?

When I export an edited video file to tape, I always get one glitch (i.e., one second delay at some point in the tape) in a one-hour video.  This happens regardless of the video editor or the camcorder. I have discovered that it happens hourly, within the second. Therefore, I have surmised that something is running in the background that is pulsing the system hourly.  Accordingly, I have disabled the internet, the virus protector, the automatic software updaters, the scheduled tasks, and the startup routines.  These actions have not solved the problem.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?

There are many weird and wonderful ways for Windows to auto-start software... not all of them are visible in the "regular" places

  • I'm using latest version FCX 10.0.8 and can't export! Please help!

I just finished editing a 28 minute HD TV program on my Mac Book PRO 10.6.8 operating system, with FCX 10.0.8. Every which way I tried to upload my finished product, it didn't work, and the last time I tried to upload to VIMEO my computer crashed with gray screen coming down, and PANIC report being issued.
After that crash (my first ever) my external sound no longer works.
But that's the least of my problems.
I went to Century City Apple store and a creative employee suggested trying Compressor App. Ok. Purchased, downloaded, and he clearly told me how to transfer my TV show via compressor. My first attempt, my wireless apparently stopped working. I'd been trying to transfer in 1080i. Failed. I call my wireless provider who tells me I have highest bandwidth, premium. So I try to updoad in HD 720p. Failed. So I tried video podcasting option, and again failed.
What do I need to do in order to show and share my TV show?

Have you tried other projects to see whether they will export? Depending on that answer, there are several things that fixed the problem for others and that you might try.
Probably the most reliable method of getting videos to Vimeo s to use their uploader, rather than doing it from within FCP. Since you have Compressor, you can make a custom Vimeo setting and then choose Compressor as your Share destination.

  • Can I export to tape with 4 audio channels

I am editing a short piece in PP CS3 for a TV station who require delivery by tape (I'm proposing to use mini-DVCAM). Part of their audio requirements are that program audio be on tracks 1 & 2, with Music and effects on tracks 3 & 4.
Is it possible to deliver this as one file (video plus 4 audio tracks) or will I need to deliver either 3 files (video plus 2 seperate stereo audio files) or 5 files( video plus 4 individual mono audio files)? The last two options seem a little unprofessional, requiring them to recompile the final product.

    No, yes.

  • Can't export to DV tape

    Hi there
    I have a G5 PowerMac, 3 years old, and a Cannon XM2, 3 years old.
    I have a question I hope a 3 year old can answer...
I can import from my camera - so it's connected fine, but I can't export to tape - it boots me out. iMovie just dissapears and I get the option of sending a gobbledy gook 'report', but that's it.
Strange. Don't remember having this problem before - is there a setting I need to change? On my camera perhaps? Or in iMovie? I just don't get why I can import but not export.
    many thanks

    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

If your problem is not a communications problem between Mac and the camcorder, it is likely the problem is related to your system being too slow to deal with the high data rate of exporting. Try exporting a few second video with no titles and no extra sound tracks for testing purposes. I am assuming that your camcorder moves the tape when exporting and that you just get a blank screen when you play back. If you have what appears to be a blank video recording, play it back again but this time push pause and see whether you see a still frame? Wish you luck.
I had experienced two circumstances that caused your problem, especially when I had multiple soundtracks and effects. Apple support was no help when I struggled to fix this problem and I found solutions below.
    1) I used an external Firewire drive that was PC formatted. I reformatted the drive to MacOS and the problem went away.
    2) I used an Firewire external drive that was too slow where I stored my iMovie project. I could capture and create DVDs just fine, but the bit rate was too slow to export to my Firewire camcorder. (Is your hard drive 7200rpm, not something slower?) Do you have any background applications running slowing down iMovie operation?
    3) Have you disconnected your camcorder from your computer and turned it off. Also have you shut down your iMac, not just rebooting, then started it from scratch and then connected your camcorder? Also try plugging in your powered up Firewire camcorder before starting iMovie. It turned out to be a miscommunications with one camcorder under certain conditions.
    4) In Sony camcorders in the menu system there is a item "A/V to DV out". Try turning that off if you have it.

  • Premiere CS 5.0.3 problem export to tape via firewire

    hi
My problem is that i can't able to export a sequence into a tape dv by firewire
    I use premiere cs5.0.3, matrox rtx2hd, win 7 and a sony hvr-M15J
I've not problem to IMPORT tape from a matrox sequence neither from a premiere sequence but I CAN'T export to tape (i use firewire connecting my hvr-15j to matrox rtx2)
    My workflow
I create a premiere sequence, the device control is online, in sequence setting>Playback setting i set DV 25i (720 x 576) but  when i start to export to tape my sony hvr start to rec, timecode going on but it's all black and no audio
i try different setting in playback setting but nothing change, what's the problem?
Device control is online but maybe i have to change setting ofsony  hvr-M15j ? The strange thing is that I've not problem to import dv tape
    please help me
    thanks

Matrox has no bearing on this - RTX2 just passes video through. It uses Adobe settings for capture and export.
Make sure your playback settings reflect what you are trying to export. Try this:
    1. External Device set to DV, etc.
    2. Audio button set to "External Device Audio"
    3. External Device set to your DV device, not None.
    4. MPE set to software only in the Project panel.
