Can't export without 3:4 distorting wider or narrower

I'm trying to make a video for youtube. Before I even get to posting it on youtube, I'm unable to export and create a file to post without it squeezing or widening, so a person looks either fat or thin. All the 'expert' modes are widening the image. The other modes, like web, web streaming, email, all make the image thinner. The only one that maintains an accurate 3:4 picture is 'full quality' but the file size is too big to use (over the 2 gig limit). I've tried all different variations in expert mode, but no go. I'm starting with a 3:4 digital video. This seems like such a basic problem, but I don't see it discussed. Is it my equipment? mac mini 1.42 ghz, ppc g4, os 10.5.7 Thanks in advance to any who might have any ideas.

Thanks Matti. I appreciate your trying to help. I got the Streamclip program downloaded and operating. However, unfortunately it still is not giving an acceptable result. Using the mpeg-4 option results in the sound not syncing with the video when I play back the file in Quicktime player. I tried a few different settings, but since I don't really know what the settings mean, I'm somewhat limited. I used compression at H.264, itunes at ipod 4:3, sound at mpeg-4aac, interlaced scaling checked and deinterlace checked in separate tests.
Using the Quicktime conversion export in Streamclip seemed to give a good result when played back in Quicktime player. However, when I loaded the file into utube, the video quality had degenerated too much to use. So I'm still at my wits end.

  • Can i export without double quotes in data files?

How can i export without double quotes in data files using dataexport commands in MaxL?

I don't know of any way to do any formatting in a straight export out of Essbase.  BSO lets you choose between a columnar vs. free form (really Essbase) format.  That lack of formatting includes removing double quotes.
If you're willing to put up with the limitations (and formatting issues) of an MDX extract to a log file, that approach does not put double quotes around member names.  The same is true in Report Scripts although I have a vague recollection that you can put in double quotes if you want it -- obviously you do not.
There are limitations to the above two approaches, the biggest being that they they are not as efficient as a true MaxL export.  OTOH, you may want only part of a database to get exported out in which case either approach may be more to your needs.
If in fact you do want to do a full export, there are lots of OS-level ways of removing double quotes.  Here's a Windows-based approach:

What would life be without hacks like the above?  Probably not worth living.

  • Can't export without master

I can see photos but can' export them because the master is not available. Surely, there must be a work around this. I can see the photo!

Sure -- but it wouldn't be the same file as the original Master.
Say you have a 1 MB JPG file.  You import it.  Import means, "Make an Image in my database of from this file, and make the file a Master".  Aperture creates a Preview for, essentially, reasons of better performance.  The Preview settings can be customized in the "Previews" tab of the Aperture Preferences.  When an Image's Master is off-line or inaccessible, you can neither make adjustments, nor print, nor export a Version (or Master).  You can add metadata to Images, and move them around inside your Library, even when the Masters of unavailable, however.  You can also drag the Preview (it's really just a big thumbnail) to other apps, or access it via the OS X Media dialog if you have enable "Share Previews ... " (also in Prefs).
But note that what you are dragging is just the Preview.  If you have Previews set to, say, 1200 px and "8", your 1 MB original will have been reduced to something like a 100 KB file.  This can be useful -- but it is not the same as your 1 MB original.
If you import your 100 KB file, you will two Images, seemingly of the same scene, but each with its own Master.  One will have much more data in it than the other.
What you do, like everything in Aperture, is very much up to you.

  • How can I export a RAW photo from iphoto to anywhere without it changing into a jpg?

How can I export a RAW photo from iphoto to anywhere (PSE, or desktop) without it changing into a jpg???

See if any of this info will help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.  3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).  This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • How can I export a comp or pre-comp to another AE project without having to rebuild or make a movie?

Can I export an AE comp or pre-comp to another AE project without having to rebuild or make a movie? In regard to tweaks or timing changes based on that projects' needs.

First, save the project in a different name.  Delete out the comps & precomps you neither want nor need.  Run AE's reduce project command to remove any unused footage, then save it again.  Now you have a simplified project, which you can then import into any AE project you want.
If you like things nice & tidy, don't forget to use the replace layer (Alt-drag, Opt-drag) trick on any duplicated footage, using the footage from the project into which you import the simplified project.  The alternative: just leave all the footage alone, and know you can't delete it.

  • How to export SharePoint Online sites in an offline format that can be accessed without SharePoint?

    Details:
Non-techie needs to archive SharePoint site and apps content into one convenient file.
    1. Currently SharePoint calenders, contacts and tasks synced to Outlook and exported to an Outlook .pst;
    2. Document libraries to a folder in file system;
    3. SharePoint Online 2013 microfeed cannot sync at all (correct me if I'm wrong).
    4. Pages also not really exportable.
Migration between O365 plans and tenants I can use .wsp but still limited to 50MB export and needs site collection settings access.
Ideally able to access these content offline (no security implications here).
Anyone know of a simple way?

    Hi Tian-An,
SharePoint contents (e.g. document files, list items, pages) are stored in SQL database, it may if you want to use the contents without SharePoint environment, I think you can click "Open with Exporer" from library ribbon and then copy them to
the file system(e.g. a network dirve fileshare), note that the library columns value would be unable to be copied/exported; for the list items you can click "Export to Excel" button form list ribbon to export list itmes to
excel file, or as you have done with connecting to Outlook.
And we have a dedicated Office365 SharePoint online forum, I would recommand you post there for getting a better assistance redarding this SharePoint online contents exporting.

  • Can I export a sequence without rerendering the entire thing again?

    Using the latest FCP..
Im working on a project with some heavy boris effects stuff... SLOW SLOW rendering.. The entire sequence is already rendered.. but when I go to export the sequence as a QT movies.. using the current settings.. it wants to rerender the **** thing.. 4+ hours.. instead of just spitting out a QT built with the ALREADY rendered sequences.. The timeline is 1080i XDCAM. The sequences is only 5 minutes long.. So it should export in a matter of minutes if it didnt want to RERENDER EVERYTHING..
This is killing me right now..
Can I export a sequence without rerendering the entire thing again?

    Joe
Lets start at the bottom and work back ....
What is your target format? You want to export the sequence but for what purpose? Is it for broadcast delivery, for burning to DVD, for web, or ....?
You note that the timeline is 1080i XDCAM ... well that is a native Long GOP format. When you export it as a single self contained clip then all those GOP structures that make up the different elements of your sequenvce must be broken down and re-conformed into a singole semaless GOP structure that describes the whole. Thats why it is re-rendering.
And GOP's are a hog to decode and encode ... thats why you're seeing such SLOW SLOW rendering.
Suggestion number 1) Set your sequence's Render codec to ProRes 422 ... th erender files will be bigger but they rendering itself will be much faster.
Suggestion number 2) If you are not exporting back to XDCAM media specifically then there is no real reason to export your edit as XDCAM HD. Try exporting as ProRes 422 (as per the render setting) ie choose Export > Quicktime Movie w/ Setting: Apple ProRes 422 (+not Current Settings+)
Suggestion number 3) If you are working on a big and powerful mac like the latest and greatest MacPro's, then in future just set your sequence codec to ProRes 422 and edit the XDCAM files directly in that ProRes 422 timeline, when done then Export > Quicktime Movie w/ Current Settings
    Hope thats helpful

  • Help! Can't export DV matte footage without an unwanted background!

I have dv matte blast and it is pulling great keys, but I can't export as a .mov file without getting the background color that I set in properties. I can't find a transparent setting for the background in motion. I have also tried the roundtrip method and I am still getting background when I export to motion and retuen to FCP 5 and render keyed footage. I have FCP 5 crossgrade studio.
Anyone know a work around? Should I export as another file. I looked in all the threads and motion help manual and have come up empty.
    Thanks in advance.

unless you're using the animation codec with + colors selected, you're not exporting transparency.
rather than exporting a quicktime movie, you can place your motion project directly in the fcp timeline.

  • Can't export iMovie 10.0.1 to Vimeo or anywhere else

Just started using iMovie 10.0.1 and can't export or share a thing. Get rendering error 50 when trying to upload to Vimeo (and this ia a small file too).
Just as a side note, I've been using iMovie for well over 5 yrs but this is the first time I've ever experienced continual problems using an Apple product. I don't know why they took a successful software, changed it and in doing so, ruined it.
So my question to all you smart people out there is how does one export without experiencing rendering error 50???

Let me make sure I understand correctly what you're doing:
I'm assuming you have the latest version of itunes, correct?
When you connect your phone to itunes, do you get any pop ups? If you do, click cancel. Click the button, check for update, is this where you're getting that error message? Are you on a windows pc or a mac? If you're on a windows pc, make sure BEFORE you connect your phone that you disable your anti-virus software, turn off your firewall, disable any malware software & see if that will let you upgrade. On a 3gs, to install any firmware(assuming you're running the latest version of itunes), itunes HAS to contact apple's servers.

  • How can I export slideshows created in Aperture v3.3.2 from Mid-2009 MacBook Pro-17 to blank DVDs?

(Fifth futile attempt in two hours, before I learned there was a Post webpage – I’m new to ApSuppCom - and after I learned that I am not allowed to update previous content, so I had to back out, make a few changes, and start over.)  How can I export slideshows created in Aperture v3.3.2 (complete with superimposed captions and music tracks) from Mid-2009 MacBook Pro-17 to blank DVDs ?  (Some other specs: Mac OS Lion 10.7.5; Capacity 499.5 GB;  Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core  2 Duo; Memory 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3; Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256MB)
I cannot do a copy (export) without various error messages appearing and the inevitable stoppage occurring.  Always with the DVD Video Player final message reading, “Supported disc not available.” Advisors and Mac Geniuses at local Apple Stores have told me to try Roxio Toast.  When I visited the Roxio website, and found numerous other company products, the descriptions all seemed to suggest that most of the apps shown can easily export videos to DVDs, but nothing was said about finished digital slide shows being exported.  At future events soon,  I hope to be handing out these finished DVDs (free) to the people in them.   Any help will be greatly appreciated. How can I export slideshows created in Aperture v3.3.2 (complete with superimposed captions and music tracks) from Mid-2009 MacBook Pro-17 to blank DVDs ?
Aperture cannot burn slideshows to a DVD.  It only can export a video of your slideshow.
In Aperture 3 you use the "Export" button in Aperture's slideshow project to render a video to a folder on your disk.
Then you use iDVD or another program to burn a video DVD.
I cannot do a copy (export) without various error messages appearing and the inevitable stoppage occurring.  Always with the DVD Video Player final message reading, “Supported disc not available.”
Could you please describe the exact steps that are causing these error messages?
How are you exporting your slideshow from Aperture? Which settings are you using? And how are you importing the video to iDVD or Toast to burn a video DVD?

  • How can I export an SD 16:9 self contained file from FCX?

    Hi folks,
I'm playing with the trial.  Used another thread to figure out how to import mts files (Loving the fact I don't have to clipwrap them!
Original footage is in HD - 1920 x 1080.  Upon importing it looks like it converts to ProRes422 1440 x 1080 - is that correct?
Regardless, my client doesn't want blu ray. They want DVD and I used BitVice to compress mpeg2s (much better than compressor 3 for quality imho).
Plus, I don't want to pay for compressor 4 or x (whatever it's called).
I've tried Share - Export Media, but can't see any option for outputting to an SD file (720x480 16:9) ?
Thanks in advance for reading and possibly helping me out!
    Cheers,
    Keebler

No, that's not correct, but it depends on the exact type of HD media and your import settings.
You can't export to that without compressor 4. You'll have to export a ProRes master and take that to BitVice.

  • How can I export an entire album to my desktop so any user can access my photos?

Is there an easy way to export photos from my iPhoto library so that other users can access them without needing a Mac or iPhoto?

But if it's a big album, be sure to create a new folder on the desktop first, to export them into. Having hundreds of individual photos on your desktop will slow your computer to a crawl.

  • How can I export an Adobe illustrator CC .AI file to a DWG or DXF file suitable for SolidWorks?

    Hi
    Can anyone help?
How can I export an Adobe illustrator CC .AI file to a DWG or DXF file,  without SolidWorks enlarging the file & converting every curve into hundreds of short little straight lines rather than a single continuous line/s.
I have made sure the file is ungrouped or has any compound paths or colours.
Opening it in Autocad 2010 still converts the DWG file into hundreds of short little straight lines!
The file is needed to laser cut out an aluminium shape using SolidWorks 2008 (Metal soft)?
    Formats they can handle are:
    DWG, DXF, IGES, IGA
There must be a way to export it without re-drawing the whole design in Soildworks again!!??
    Can anyone help?
    INCA

Not really. This is a limitation you will have to live with. Unless you are extremely careful, most paths will be converted to polyline segments by AI and in particular in AI CC this is somehow busted, so it happens more often. You might have much more luck opening a native AI file in DraftSight or a 2D CAD program like TurboCAD and exporting a DWG or 2D IGES/ STEP file from there. The sizing issue is a different matter, but without knowing what units you actualyl used, nobody can advise.

  • How can I export a folder of images using the original file data?

I have edited my images within the "Develop" mode, but now need to export as jpg's using those settings (note: some are now B&W) and then I also need to process as jpg's using the original settings (color), so my client has all the original color files as well. My files were all shot in the Nikon RAW format, but I can't figure out how to export all the images without using the develop adjustments I have made to each file, including having changed many to B&W. Is there a way to do this? Note that I also don't want to lose all of my adjustments, so can't just reset them all, if that's even an option.

    2) Now I need to export all the images that have at least 2 stars
(around 1200), so I can give the client a folder of "originals." This
way, they can view images that didn't make the final edit (album) and
will also be able to print an image that I converted to B&W for
    their album in color.
First of all, I think making a backup of your directory (using Explorer or Finder or whatever) might be prudent before you start this little experiment!
So, all of your originals are in one folder, and ~1200 of those are 2-star and 384 are 5-star and have edits, correct?
What might be easiest (although not the most effecient) is to just click on the folder, then use the Library Filter to select everything that's 2 stars and above. This will select all the images that need exporting.
Then follow Jao's instructions for creating a new collection and removing the edits. Make SURE you create your new collection with VIRTUAL COPIES or you're going to wipe out everything you've done.
Your new collection should then  have virtual copies of everything 2-star and above, in their original unadulterated state. You can then export to JPG.
I think from now on I will export those files with 2 stars first, then narrow down the the final 384 and make adjustments
You could always create a collection of your "keepers" (2-stars and above). Then, for every image you want to edit, be sure to edit the virtual copy  and then put it in a subcollection under the main collection.
That way you kind of have a history of what you did, and you can export (or re-export) at any time. You don't even really need to keep the exported JPGs around, since you can always re-export.
Scott Kelby has a Lightroom book that illustrates this kind of workflow much better than I can. I highly recommend it.

  • How can I export aperture pictures to a new library?

How can I export aperture pictures to a new library? I wan to create a new aperture library at an exernal drive so that I can reduce the size of the current library in the internal drive. Thank you for letting me know.

"File➞Export➞ ... as new Library " will create a new Library from the selection.
The preferred method for making the Library on your system drive smaller is to change some of the Image's Originals from Managed (= stored inside the Library) to Referenced (= stored outside the Library, often on external drives).  There are so many advantages to this that it can be recommended without question.  Unless you have specific reasons for splitting your Library into two Libraries (security concerns are one of the very few reasons), you should keep your Library on your system drive with some Image's Originals Managed, and the rest Referenced to an external drive.
Read up about these options in the User Manual (scroll down).
