Can't figure out how to make a working video in iMovie 6.0.4

So I have a MacBook Pro that was given to me by a friend, and it's from 2006 -- ergo, the older version of iMovie.
My problem is two-pronged. First, let me start out by saying that the videos I'm making just involve inserting an MP3 and a static image (i.e., they are music videos). And, in the end, I want to upload them to YouTube.
Problem #1: when my movies have successfully uploaded (this is something that doesn't happen anymore, as I say below) and I view them on YouTube, the static image I've attached to the video disappears after one second. The rest of the movie is sound with a black screen. This is especially confusing, because I watch the videos in Quicktime and VLC beforehand to make sure that the image if there for 100% of the video, and it always is. I've also made sure to export the image from iPhoto (it was infuriating to find out that 6.0.4 makes it impossible to drag and drop images) and, when applying it, extend its length to the length of the song, which I take from iTunes. See image below for what this looks like.
Problem #2: currently, the videos simply will not upload to YouTube, making me wonder if there is a problem with the way I'm exporting them (even though I have changed nothing in the process since the time they were uploading successfully). I am exporting on Expert Settings, since that's how I did it on my previous laptop (a PowerBook G4 from 2005), and I'm saving the file as a .mov. I've attached a screenshot below showing the specifications of the file.

I'm not very familiar with animation using Photoshop. I have a small amount of experience using Illustrator, but not much. I'm not sure what a normal timeline is.
What I'm trying to do should be very simple. I want to emulate a tv screen flickering on, using 2 white bars that expand outwards from the center of a blackish background.

I can't figure out how to make my MacBook (videos, etc.) show up on my TV. Help?

I am attempting to connect my MacBook to my TV. Unfortunately, I am trying to make new technology and old technology talk and they don't seem to like each other (I think my TV is about five years old and I have the current MacBook). I have the cords to hook up the two devices (Component cords, Component to VESA Adapter, and Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter) courtesy of the Apple tech staff. However, when I hook them all up, it still isn't showing up on my TV. I'm on the correct setting for my TV and I know that the cords are not broken or anything. It's really frustrating. I don't want to have wasted my money on the cords...Any suggestions? Thank you!

I have the same problem - but the other way round i.e. the macbook is a few years old and the TV is only a few months old - so I'm hoping for some helpful pointers. The cables bought in the Apple shop on their advice added up to around £45 - worth it if it works, of course, but a big waste otherwise. One website I found suggests putting the macbook to sleep when all is connected then powering it up to get the TV to recognise it - yet to try that out.

Can't figure out how to make "sub-tabs" / Too many "top-tabs" / Other ?

I am having some problems:
1) There are TOO MANY tabs at the top. I can't figure out how to make sub-headings on one page...
For example, I'd like on the "About CDM" page, tabs that can be clicked on to go to other information tabs, but that don't end up appearing on the top (e.g.: having "Remarks" and "What We Believe" tabs go there, but not appear at the top).
Another example, if you look at the home screen, I'd like to have the link to the "Privacy Policy" and Terms of Service" pages on the bottom, but not have them appear as tabs in the top, too.
How do I do this, please? I've searched, and can't figure out/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png
2) How do I add "Copyright 2011" automatically? I saw in the Rapidweaver trial version, it automatically adds it when you publish... is there a way to tell this program to do this? Or do I need to type that in on each page? (I don't want to purchase RW... I'm not ready for that yet.)

Cindee ~ One way to do the copyright notice is to use a Text Clipping — Select (highlight) the copyright text you want to use and drag it to the Desktop. If necessary, change the name of the Clipping icon so that it's more easily identifiable on the Desktop. Then, when you need it in iWeb, simply drag the Clipping icon from the Desktop to iWeb's main canvas.

The digital keyboard on the iPad uses an "Up Arrow" as a symbol to represent its shift key(s). If it's highlighted, then the next letter typed will be upper-case. Just tap on the Arrow symbol and it should be unhighlighted. Now if you type any letter, it will be lower-case.

If your computer is on one minute before it freezes, than you have one minute to secure your serial number.
click the apple----->click about this Mac ------> click on version----> until you see the serial number. You may have to do this a couple of times if it freezes before you have all the numbers. A camera might help.

The window displaying bookmarks is too large (suddenly happened with the new version). I can't figure out how to make the display smaller. Zooming out does not work on the bookmark menu display.

I have version 4, just downloaded, and a Mac w. OS 10.6. 7.
The bookmarks display (when I pull down "bookmarks") is much too wide. I can't figure out how to reduce the display size. The window is not persistent so I can't even get you a screen shot.

It seems there was a change in Firefox 4 where the width of the drop-down is now determined by the length the longest bookmark name in the folder being displayed. Previous versions of Firefox would shorten a long name like that and add an ellipsis to signify the name was truncated.
Sorry, I don't know how to change that other than to advise you to edit the name of that long bookmark name and make it less verbose. Just scroll down the list of bookmarks in that wide folder until you see the culprit, then right-click that bookmark and open Properties & edit the Name line at the top of that dialog.

Ok. Here's the results. I tried all the music videos I wanted to put onto the IPod and the results were:
I was able to get good results with 2 full length music videos and 2 video singles(only 2 videos on each disk). For a total of 4 videos.
I was able to encode 5 full length music videos, but the results were distorted (video and audio).
I was unable to copy 2 full length videos due to error failures. 1 was a "No Title Found" error, the other was a "NAVDAT" error.
I guess my next question is: Do you know of any other program(s) that I might try, to see if I can get good results with the videos that didn't work with Handbrake?

CAN'T figure out how to make/edit movies in QuickTime Pro...

I can't seem to figure out how to creat and edit movies in Quicktime Pro. I would do this in windows movie maker as its sooo simple, but it doesn't save in a format that works on a mac computer (I'm emailing the video to someone who uses a mac!). And, I can't seem to find a program that is as easy to use as Windows Movie Maker...PLEASE help me, I really NEED to get this movie in a format to work on a Mac! I'm at a total loss as to what to do! And I can't seem to find a tutorial, either!

First of all, Quicktime is not really an "editing" program in the traditional sense. If you are expecting to really edit in QT Pro, you will be disappointed. Yes, you can actually import video directly into QT Pro and edit it, but the functions will be limited to roughly selecting chunks of video and deleting them, and you won't have frame-accurate control like other real editing programs. But lets start at the beginning: 1) Your post does not give enough information to anyone for them to help you. Where are the videos coming from that you want to edit? Camcorder? Digital camera that takes MPEG movies? VHS or DVDs? 2) The answer to #1 will be the clue as whether you are plugging a USB device or a Firewire device into the computer. Once this is determined, then instructions will vary as to how you go about editing. 3) I'm not sure if you are using QT Pro on a PC or a Mac. If you have a Mac, why don't you use the built-in video editing program that came with your computer? It's called iMovie? Quicktime can convert some video files into something that is compatible with iMovie, if they're not already. If you are using QT Pro on a PC, then I'm a little unfamilar as if it works exactly the same between between a Mac and PC. Seeing that you come from the PC side of the Universe, I'd bet that you are trying to plug in and use a USB device. On a Mac, QT Pro can record video directly from a camcorder, but it needs to be connected via Firewire. Otherwise for something transferred via USB, you most likely have an MPEG file. QT Pro can open this, but again, the editing will be very rough as QT is not a refined edit program.

SQL Query (updateable report) - Can't figure out how to make one

Hi folks,
Can someone tell me how to make a report where the data can be updated? Not an interactive report, a SQL report that selects only one row. The only options in the drop down I see are "SQL Query" and "SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)", but I have a report elsewhere that says it's type is "SQL Query (updateable report)", but I can't remember how to do it :(

If you're trying to do this in Animate, I would throw most of the concept out and think of what the jQuery is actually trying to accomplish: it's trying to determine which direction the mouse is entering and leaving in order to determine what direction the overlay should run when you actually enter the object. You can do the same thing by looking at the pageX and pageY of the mouseenter and mouseleave events and then doing some kind of comparison.
Without coding it explicitly, this is how I would approach the problem:
on every object's mouseleave (I'd use a symbol in this case, btw), try to determine the pageX and pageY and compare it to the content's dimensions in order to determine whether or not it leaves from top, right, left, or bottom.
Based on this information, play from the symbol's timeline in the out direction (e.g. "outFromTop")
on every object's mouseenter, try to determine the pageX and pageY and see which direction it comes from. If I can tell, animate from that side. If I can't, fall back to the last mouseleave's event in order to figure out where it should come from
Based on this information, play from the symbol's timeline in a different location, from label (e.g. "inFromTop")

Can anyone tell me how to create a hyperlink (such as in an e-mail)? I know how to do it on a Microsoft but don't know how to on a Mac. Am I just missing the blatantly obvious???

Thanks a lot. I am just used to using Microsoft, and couldn't understand why it wouldn't indicate that it was linked (Like how it turns blue underlined in Windows). It makes sense to me now because my friends weren't saying anything about the links not working. Once again, thanks a billion.
