I am able to access a shared library, but can't figure out how to sync with my ipod

My son got a new laptop for Christmas. I set up his itunes acct and he lost most songs that were on his ipod. They are in my library so I have set up home shareing. I can access my library in his itunes account, but can't figure how to sync that library to his ipod. When I do click sync, it only syncs a couple of songs that are already on his ipod.
I've tried highlighting all songs and dragging to "hisipod", but they will not drag.

Connect your iPod to the computer with the provided cable.
Open up iTunes.
You should see your iPod in the Device list.
Click on it.
Choose what you want to sync to your iPod and then click Sync.

in a window on the left under devices and I would just drag playlist over from my library but now device is in the right hand corner and I can't figure out

I can't figure out how to get music from iTunes to the iPhone 4S.

I've tried to sync music, but it says there are zero songs. This new set-up of iTunes is the dumbest thing I've ever seen, and doesn't have the side menu to the left where you could click the device that it used to. I have the computer authorized and all that. I even set up home sharing.

The ipod is not a storage/backup device.
You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

I have all my contacts saved to my phone, but can't figure out how to sync them on the cloud. Help me?

I had been without a system to dump pictures, music, etc. on for months and haven't done a back up in a while. I want to update to iOS 8 but I want to back up my contacts. My iCloud storage was full, but shouldn't be anymore, however none of my contacts show up when I log in to iCloud. I have no idea what I'm doing and am pretty illiterate with this stuff. Can someone explain how to get my contacts to copy so I have them backed up?

The default account setting only determines the account that new contacts are added to by default. Changing it to iCloud won't move rhe contacts in the other accounts to iCloud, although if you add a new contact now it will be added to iCloud.
I can give you the steps to copy the contacts from your other accounts to iCloud so the will all sync using iCloud, but I'm running an errand right now so will have to reply back in about 45 min.

Can't figure out how to sync my iPhotos Albums to iPad

Since I downloaded the new iTunes, I can't see a an easy menu that the older version had when I connect my iPad. The past version showed all my images in iPhoto and the albums and I could simply check the ones I wanted to sync to my iPad, similar to the movies. Now it asks for the file and there is no way I can see that I can selet the individual photo albums.
I hate the new format. Seems like Apple is losing its way as they attempt to improve their software. Having a hard time with Mountain Lion too since I upgraded, I should have learned my lesson not to, but they force you to.
Any help would be appreciated.

I can select Albums, Events or faces if I scroll down. Then click apply at the bottom right

I have tried to sync my homepage with the one I created and for some weird reason everything else will change on the website except the home page. I have saved it the put the page to the website then i would hit synchronize site wide. it still will not update the website anything else will. please help i have been trying to get help for a month now. I'm going to guess in the mean time that you might have done one of the following...
1. Uploaded the home page to the wrong location
2. Named the home page something that is not used by the server as a default (myindex.html rather than index.html for example)
3. Improperly capitalized something. Servers are case sensitive so index.html and Index.html are two different pages on the server, on your local OS they would be the same file.
4. Changed the index page's extension to one that is further down the list of defaults from the original while not removing the original file (.php vs .html for example) leading to an old page to show online rather than the new
5. You may just have a sticky cache in your browser on that file, make sure to clear your cache and view the site again

Ok. Here's the results. I tried all the music videos I wanted to put onto the IPod and the results were:
I was able to get good results with 2 full length music videos and 2 video singles(only 2 videos on each disk). For a total of 4 videos.
I was able to encode 5 full length music videos, but the results were distorted (video and audio).
I was unable to copy 2 full length videos due to error failures. 1 was a "No Title Found" error, the other was a "NAVDAT" error.
I guess my next question is: Do you know of any other program(s) that I might try, to see if I can get good results with the videos that didn't work with Handbrake?

Thanks, This caused me to go back and try again since the solution seemed so simple. What I did was when it started downloading, it started with the iphones apps to my computer. I did not want the apps downloaded on my computer so I stopped it. If I would have waited, the music was uploaded right after the apps were downloaded.
