Can't figure this one out! CS4

I'm trying to understand why, in the Flash project above, I get an odd discrepancy between the project as it appears on the Stage, and the version that exports as a SWF.
Here's a description of the problem, though you might find it easier to simply look at the problem, in the blue bunny's legs, for yourself.
I'm animating two characters originally drawn on paper by my daughters, age 4 and 3. The blue bunny character's legs are graphic symbols ("L/R leg squeeze") with a motion tween applied to them, an x-scale transformation, occurring only once per 30-frame bounce cycle.
However, up a level or two at the "lyda armature bounce" symbol, the same transformation unexpectedly occurs three times over the same 30 frames -- seemingly tied to the "pose" keyframes. You can't see this mysterious effect except in the blue bounding box that you get when you select a leg.
If anyone could explain this problem, I'd be grateful. Maybe something to do with my IK armature and the fact that within it, I have moved its component graphic symbols (all of them except the legs) to match the embedded leg-squish animation?

  • I can't figure this one out...

I've imported a .swf file into one of my table cells. The
cell is 700x200. The .swf file is 700x200.

It seems that the flash file is stretching or something, its
off one pixel on the right. When i set my flash file at 699 width,
it was one pixel off on the right.
Can any offer any suggestions. I'm completely out of ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

If the actual image file has the right width, I don't see any
    other possible explanation.
You should double check in Flash authoring, select your
graphic (or your MC or whatever object you
might have converted it to) and open the transform and/or
info panel. One of these panels will show
you the % width and height ratio of your object...

  • HT3235 My second monitor is working but I can't figure out how to use it! I can't get anything to drag. I know how to adjust extended desktops on PCs but I can't figure this one out.

I am used to working on duel monitors. I bought a new MacBook Pro 15' yesterday, the adapter for my monitor, and the monitor is on with the generic background but I can't drag any windows over to it. I can do it on PCs but can't figure out on the Mac. Can someone please help the noob out?
    Thanks
    Nikki

The blue blocks in that screen are Icons for your actual screens. Their sizes are proprtional to the number of pixels in each screen. They can be dragged to new locations relative to each other -- as long as they are touching at some point.  You are expected to drag them so that they correspond with the actual screen location on your bench, so that the movement from one scrren to the other is intuitive.
The white stripe represents the menuBar. It can also be dragged to any screen, and that screen will then be the one with the MenuBar. It will also become the screen with the Startup icons on it.

  • Can't figure this one out - Buddies all grayed out - show offline.

Just helped setup a new Mac convert and I am at a loss to get his iChat to connect. His new broadband connection is Cox cable using a Scientific Atlanta DPC2100 Series. Web browsing is good and fast. When I carefully set up his Buddy list, and have the iMac firewall off, the Buddies remain greyed out even when we confirm by phone that they are online. They also show him as greyed out on their iChat. To simplify, I disconnected my Powerbook with iChat, iSight, etc. all working perfectly from my DSL connection. I then carried and connected to the DPC2100 directly with Ethernet and confirmed web browsing. But, my iChat did the same thing, showing Buddies greyed out and offline and they could no longer see my presence online either.
The only variable seems to be the switch from DSL (ok) to Cox Cable with the DPC2100. Then, returning to the DSL all is fine.
I discussed this with Cox ??tech support?? and two different people said it had nothing to do with the cable modem or their connection. It appears that expecting ANY support from COX cable tech is a losing proposition, so I am turning to logical Mac users. Thanks for any ideas to resolve this.
iMac 1.8 G5 and Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   no router, no firewall, no privacy, etc.

I would look for a cable Modem that is configurable (most you purchase youself will be).
    Something like this
    Or this
Generally go for something that is not going to handle VoIP as well. (Not SIP Aware)
On the other hand if he has a install CD that came with the device there might be Read Me with the default IP Listed to make Access.
Or try the Scientific Atlanta Website (although I can not get the page to load today (Sun 22nd)
This Forum item suggest the default IP is 192.168.100.1 but also suggests problems due to the ISP this was supplied from.

  • MIDI CLOCK stopped working and I can't figur this one out.

I have been sending MIDI clock to my Native Instruments Guitar Rig so I can sync the Loop Machine with Logic, everything was working pretty good till...??? I am not sure what I could have done to goof it up but now I get no MIDI signal out the port ( I set it to all MIDI ports). I tested the cables with a LED tester and all the settings I set to get it working in the first place but now Logic seems to not be sending the clock any longer. I also sync a Micron keyboard and use its arpegiator... well I was till this happened. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Delete Logic preferences from the user>library>preferences folder

  • Help me please, I can't figure this one out!

Alright so I just got a Ipod Video 5th Gen and I also have a mac. The ipod came formatted for windows and when I hooked it up to my mac, itunes wouldn't recognize it and ipod updater wouldn't do anything with it where it would recognize it but it would say that it can't restore it or update it. My mac doesn't have an internet connection at the moment but I have ipod updater 6-28-06 on it along with itunes. I have tryed restoring it on a regualar windows computer but I Couldn't change the format. How do I change the format to Mac? Any help is appreciated.

See put your iPod into disk mode before doing the Restore helps
Try to put the iPod into Disk Mode if it fails to appear on the desktop
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
    Otherwise, For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Eject your iPod and do a Reset

  • My Ipad2 has started adding letters between words when I type.  The letters are usually, but not always, m.  I use Safari browser.  Can't figure this one out!

Adding to the question I posted, my iPad will string words together by inserting letters (usually m, but sometimes n) between.  Even when I back up and delete the extra letter, it will pop up again until the second delete.  So it's in autocorrect?  Have I taught my device to do this by being a sloppy typist?

Try asking in the iPad forum. This forum is for iPhones being used in an Enterprise (corporate) environment.

  • Icon, icon, i can't figure this one out!

After working on my G5 for a few hours after a restart, I find unusual things happening to icons. The Desktop icon (shown in the side pane) is the most susceptible; becoming garbled or taking on another program's icon.
It always goes back to normal after a restart, but I'd like to fix the problem not the symptom.
    Any help?
Here is what it looks like:
    http://web.mac.com/jetalcott/iWeb/JET/Problems.html
    Powermac G5, Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

As I fiddled with the suggestions here, I noticed something I should have seen earlier. Although my desktop icon appears in the sidebar, the folder does NOT appear in my home folder. Spotlight says that it is there. My desktop is working normally (things appear on my desktop, and they are the same things that show up when I click on the icon in the sidebar), but I cannot actually see the desktop folder. I thought I would try changing it's icon, but alas, it aint there!
    Hmmmm.
    Any ideas?

  • So you think you are an Java uber-geek? Then figure this one out. . .

Ok, uber-Java geeks, let's see if you can figure this one out. It' s butt-ugly and got me totally stumped.
This is in a Tomcat 5.5 environment.
I have a jsp (hierarchy.jsp) which has static nested class called MgmtAuthBean. This hierarchy.jsp creates a TreeMap object which contains instances of the static nested class, MgmtAuthBean. So, after compilation of the hierarchy.jsp, I end having 2 jsp's:
    hierarchy_jsp.java <==== original jsp
hierarchy_jsp$MgmtAuthBean.java <==== nested static class jsp
Ok, easy to understand so far. . .now for the rub. . .
The hierarchy_jsp.java then saves the TreeMap object in a session.
Another servlet (ExcelServlet) then accesses this saved session object, but in the process of reconstituting the TreeMap object, it requires access to the nested static class hierarchy_jsp$MgmtAuthBean.java.
The problem is that ExcelServlet craters because it can't find hierarchy_jsp$MgmtAuthBean.java in order to reconstitute the TreeMap object.
Since jsp's are dynamically created when called, how do I point either the Tomcat container or ExcelServlet to hierarchy_jsp$MgmtAuthBean.java?
For reason's too stupid to explain, I can't get rid of the static nested class, so I have to figure out how to make this work. . .
    :)

Tomcat provides a utility for pre-compiling JSP into Servlet class files. This can also be done in ANT. You can precompile the JSP which will create the inner class file and then compile the Java files that need the inner class file. It may take some tweaking to get all of the classes to compile in the correct order.
A possible alternative is t have the inner class implement an interface. the hierarchy_jsp can then refer to the contents of the TreeMap as instances of the interface instead of as instances of the inner class.

  • Bet you cant figure this one out...

    Card: Sound Blaster Li've 5.Video: GeForce 6600GT
Motherboard: K7N2 Delta MSI (tried it on Asus A8... Motherboard aswell)
    Processor: AMD 3200+ XP
    Ram: 52mb ddr 3200
    Problem:
This Sound Blaster Card freezes with a looping sound on every game I try playing on my PC. Figured it was the Sound Blaster card when I took it out the computer ran fine with the integrated sound card. Put the SB back in and updated every driver, BIOS, video driver, IRQ settings, check the voltage, EVERYTHING... Yet still freezes.
Bought another Sound Card Audigy 2 value... Froze with no sound, and have to reboot. I am pretty frustrated now that I have switched the power supply, motherboard, processor, RAM just to figure this problem out.
Note: The computer doesnt restart when I update stuff with the card in the PC, when the card is out of it, the computer restarts without me turning it off and back on again.
If you know what is causing this... I will love you forever.
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem. However, the problem didn't pop up until I upgraded Windows XP to service pack 2. I've seen others bring up this issue on a few boards, hopefully someone will shine some light on this issue instead of pointing fingers. Personally, I've done everything I know to do besides downgrading to service pack , but my PC crashing when playing games is not worth reverting back to SP (although I'm sure it is to some). Anyway, I don't know if you have the same OS & service pack, but thought I'd share just the same.

  • Stacks - I don't know if anyone can figure this one out?

Okay I just got a new MacBook Pro and it had the stack folders on the bottom of the dock (pre-installed) Download and Documents. Here's the problem, I hit and moved the Documents stack out of the area of the dock and it removed the stack. I know this seems simple but check this out. I tried to look up the files that were in the Document Stack and it wasn't on my computer at all. I used Spotlight and it didn't help at all. Here's something else, my VMware Fusion program had an error after I moved the Stack Folder. I had Windows Vista on the Virtual Machine before this happened with the Stack Folder. Now there's no Vista on record or ON MY COMPUTER! I had to re-install all programs..
I didn't have time machine setup because I didn't think I needed it so soon.
Can anyone help me find out where my files are in the Stack Folder that was removed from the dock....?
    Thanks!

*Hi ruhig, Welcome* to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.

You have asked a technical question in an inappropriate place. You are forgiven as a newcomer.
At the top of this page, or the topics list page one layer back, click on the "discussions" page. It will give you a list of Categories, including "Leopard." Click on it and you will see a set of files for various forums. Click on the most appropriate one and a Forum page similar to the one that got you here will open. As here, at the top left will be a button to "post new topic" or similar.
In this forum you will find lots of threads re frustration with forum organization so don't feel bad it you didn't get it right the 1st time. Explore a bit and it will come to you.
There is a wealth of knowledge in the forums. Come often, browse, read threads and learn. 99% of the threads I read I don't post on. On those for maybe 5~10 % I learn something. Now if half vast, see below, could just remember it.

  • See if you can figure this one out...

First off, I use FireFox, not Safari (Safari is great, but FF works better for me)...
So here's the deal: I use MySpace as means of making some important contacts. I have a Power Mac G5 connected to a Linksys router (Model# RT41-BU) which is behind a Motorola SB-5100 cable modem. I also have three Windows XP machines on the same network.
I have no problem with any other website except MySpace. As soon as I log in, I can usually get to 2-3 pages fine. As soon as I click to access probably the 4th page, I start timing out. My computer will stall for up to 1-2 minutes. Eventually the page will either load (usually just partially at this point) or I will get a time-out error (btw, by "stalling" I mean I just sit there and wait, and wait, and wait for a page to load...NOT that the actual computer has frozen and is not responding).
If, after getting the time-out error, I then click “Try Again” the page will usually then IMMEDIATELY load w/ no problem (occasionally I will get the timeout page again after a few minutes).
If I choose to QUIT Firefox during the stalling, but BEFORE I get the time out error, and immediately open it back up, I start stalling again (at this point it’s merely trying to load my homepage, which, of course is apple.com/startpage).
If I try to go to the EXACT same pages on my Windows XP machine using Firefox I have absolutely NO problem loading any pages whatsoever…UNLESS:
If I, again QUIT Firefox on my Mac BEFORE getting the timeout error…walk 5 feet over to my Windows machine and try to load my home page (Yahoo.com), it will stall. I usually have to then wait about 1-2 minutes, and it will start back up again, and I then have no problems.
Here’s where it gets REALLY interesting:
If I DISCONNECT my Linksys router, and plug my Mac DIRECTLY into the back of my cable modem (in other words, disassemble the network, and have the modem shooting stright to the mac), I DON’T have this problem. I can log into MySpace hit any page, just as I can with my Windows machine.
Because the problem DOES NOT occur to my Windows machine while it’s ON the network, and DOES NOT occur with my Mac when it’s OFF the network, all signs point to some sort of issue with certain Macs running on certain Linksys routers. There must be some sort of conflict between the two, but I IMAGINE that there HAS to be either some sort of tweak or some sort of patch that will fix this issue.
I have had this issue from day one of owning this computer (about 4 months). It has never worked on the router properly.
I have tried reformatting the machine and reinstalling everything. No change.
I have tried lowering the MTU on both my router configuration and mac network config anywhere from 1400 to 750, with no noticable change.
I have tried several different browsers (Firefox, Safari, IE for Mac & even Opera) but still have the same results.
I’ve gone into the “about:config” page of Firfox and turned on network.http.proxy.pipelining and set the max requests to 16, with no new results.
    I have tried disabling javascripting…nothing.
I have also tried contacting Linksys, and the only thing they can suggest is lowring my MTU again (It’s obvious by talking to them that English is also not their first language)
    Here’s something weird as well:
WHILE the page is stalling to load, I can open the Network Utility and run a continuous ping to the page I’m trying to hit and get a consistent response on EACH ping, even though the page won’t load.
My cable modem and router BOTH operate on DHCP (IP address and DNS servers are assigned automatically – NOTHING that I know of is entered in statically).
The only thing I haven’t tried is upgrading the firmware on my router. I’d really like to use this as a LAST resort – HP ruined a DVD writer I had once with a firmware upgrade that went wrong.
I’d really like to get this fixed. I have friends in a band that are out on the road right now, and with the exception of wasting valuable minutes on my cell phone, this is the only way I have of keeping contact with them. It’s really irritating that I have to use my Windows machine…despite the fact that it’s only a few feet away, I SHOULDN”T HAVE to.
Anyone want to try and tackle this one?
    Much appreciated,
    --Jbj

    Smells like DHCP spaghetification...
I have tried reformatting the machine and reinstalling everything. No change.
No good, unless you tried anything funny when installing MacOS X, networking issues have are not magically fixed by re-installing the OS. This is a habit coming from the Windows world...
My cable modem and router BOTH operate on DHCP (IP address and DNS servers are assigned automatically – NOTHING that I know of is entered in statically)
What about your Mac (and the rest of your PCs)? How do they get their TCP/IP settings (manually or via DHCP)?
Your issue(s) smell DHCP big time, go to System Preferences-->Network-->Ethernet/AirPort (whatever you use to connect) and click on the TCP/IP tab. Set Configure IPv4 to Manually and post back.
How are your computers connected to the Linksys box (wired/wirelessly)?

  • Problem with an HTML snippit and PayPal button - cant figure this one out?

Hello Mac people. We are really good with these things but this one has got us completely foxed.
We've done a tribute website in iWeb 08 for a friend and his family that were tragically murdered in November 2006 - the address is www.yemi.co.uk
We are trying to add a PayPal Donate button to the Charity Page.
Simple right? We went to our PayPal account, set up the button, previewed it (perfect), copied the code, pasted it into an iWeb HTML snippet window, clicked Apply and the PayPal button appeared on the page... Great, thats sorted right? Nope.
What happens after we publish to our .MAC account is that the PayPal button, when clicked, tries to load the entire PayPal page into the frame / area within the actual PayPal button, which is a tiny, on the iWeb page.
What we want it to do is just link to PayPal in a new window.
Tried everything we can think of to solve it including PayPal technical service, .MAC assistance etc... 3 days later we admit defeat!
Anyone have a clue what we've done wrong? Much appreciated.
    Regards from the UK
    [email protected]

Hi, just a quick update. We managed to solve this one by adding this to the first line of code that PayPal generates after it has been pasted into the Snippit window: target="newFormWindow" - it forces the page to open in a new window and gets round the problem we were having.
Hope this helps somebody else out in the future. Thanks.

  • Can anyone figure this question out?

    Hi ,
Sometimes when you go to a website and you want to ask a question or request something you click on the button and then my automatic email sets up except I don't use the safari email I use hotmail. How could I make hotmail open up with the email address of the receiver already in the To: box?
I know there is a way but I can't figure out where to go.
    Thanks
    Arianna

    Hi,
You can set up your hotmail to work with Mail. Go to:
    http://email.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=email&zu=http%3A%2F%2F sourceforge.net%2Fprojects%2Fhttpmail-plugin%2F
Download the plug-in and configure it so that Mail works with hotmail. Once you have the account setup, when you click on a link Mail will open and you will be able to send a message from your hotmail account through Mail.
Once you download the files, open it and go to the 'readme'. There are detailed instructions on how to install the plug-in.
    Good luck!

  • ?!?! See who can figure this one out first...

ok, so this has been happening on and off for the past 3 months, just curious if anyone else has had this happen as well.
so im working in Logic (this happened in 7 and now 8 as well) and i get done with my session and im going to close logic for a bit. so i quit the program. the logic screens go away and its still thinking for a sec before it completely quits out. as soon as it completely quits, they grey screen of death starts making its way down my monitor. it ONLY happens when quitting logic, and not all the time, just whenever it feels like it i guess.
    any thoughts?
just for the record, ive RTFM and it says nothing about this
    thanks
    c

I used to get this with Digital Performer a few years ago every time I quit on my G5. I ended up reinstalling the OS and all programs from scratch and the problem NEVER came back. My assumption was that somehow a combination of drivers/libraries must have become corrupt. I did try repairing permissions and nothing seemed to fix it.
I know it's a lot of work, but maybe you could test by using an external drive to boot off of that has a clean install with logic and trying running it for awhile with the same projects and see if it ever happens again.
