This just happened randomly. I have Airport Express connected wirelessly to itunes, and then connected to my stereo. I have turned everything off (including AE, iBook, router - everything) and back on. itunes is still set to look for remote speakers, but it just does not see them. Yesterday it was working, today it is not.
PS I tried to download a new copy of itunes, but it will not install

I'm having problems with this as well, but I've been streaming audio to multiple speakers for several days. This morning I noticed that my remote speakers didn't showup in iTunes.
The work around for this appears to be to reset the airport (at least that's worked for me).
If you've seen your remote speakers before, then you might try resetting your airport by unplugging it and then plugging it back in or use the airport admin to update something that won't affect it's operation like the "location" notation.

Can't connect to airplay speakers from iTunes

I suddenly can't connect to airplay speakers from iTunes on my new Macbook Pro - they are visible but cannot be selected. I can connect to them from other Macs and iPads. Can anyone help, pls? I have set the whole network up several times, rebooted system ie.

I had this happen to me on the odd occasion but now have it sorted. If I'm going to use my Airport Epress(s) I first make sure that my PC is connecting to the AE before I even turn on iTunes.
A problem I was having was that my PC was connecting to my wireless router by default (specifically when my laptop was turned off) and not to the AE. As a consequence when iTunes started it greyed out the remote speakers and sometimes the button was not even showing up.
Now that I ensure my PC is talking to the AE everytime I do not have a problem.
I do have one annoying thing with the AE setup though, if I'm playing music over the AE and I unplug any USB device (printer, USB Key, External drive etc) the wireless connection is broken and I have to start iTunes. I suspect it is a hardware issue relating to my particular HP PC as I have just reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP and it still happens. I can live with it.

It sounds like you are not able to print to your printer because it keeps timing out when you try. I would use the troubleshooting steps from the following article to help you get that printer going again. It may be something as simple as re adding the printer if you've already restarted both the printer and the computer already:

It sounds like you essentially have a new computer and unless you restored from a backup your iTunes library would be empty. You can transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
SInce you changed syncing computers. after you move the stuff you need to restore the iPod to factory defaults and sync the stuff back to your iPod. If you had the iPod backup file you could restore from backup.
If you have non-iTunes pruchases you can copy them to your computer by using one of the third-party programs discussed in this previous discussion:

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. I was experiencing the same problem. This is the solution I figured out:
Check the wireless settings on your router. Ensure the "Enable Wireless Isolation" is not selected. If this is enabled, devices cannot talk to one another even if on the same network.

Depending on which device you used to purchase the audiobook, you may have to specifically enable its sync.
