Can't find Akai samples on Hard drive after EXS 24 Mk II conversion

Hi,
I've recently acquired a large Akai sound library on CD and have imported them onto my Mac Pro via the converter in the EXS 24 Mk II. They show up fine in the EXS Library, but I can't find them anywhere on the hard disk, and I want to remove them and re install them into smaller subfolders, ie, Violins, Flutes etc, rather than just Orchestra.
Everything I've read says that the samples should be in a folder called Akai samples, located in Library/Application Support/Logic. No such folder is showing.
It doesn't make any difference whether I use the 'save converted instruments to sub folder' option or not, they are nowhere to be seen, outside of the EXS library.
I've tried it on both my machines, both running 10.7.5, Logic 9.1.8. (Logic is running in 32 bit mode during the conversion)
Anyone else had this or know a cure??
Thanks in advance for any help!
Jonny

Well, I thought that'd cleared it up, but apparently not! The only way I can see the AKAI Samples folder is when using the Reveal in Finder function in the EXS 24. A normal Finder/Spotlight search will not show it, even after re indexing the drive. I can only assume that this is something to do with the fact that the file conversion can only take place through the EXS 24, therefore it doesn't register as existing outside of that... Can this really be? If you go back through the file hierarchy to Library (through the EXS) the Library icon is greyed out too, and double clicking it will not open the library folder. At least I know how to get to it now anyway.

I have a seagte back up plus. I pulled my hard drive out without ejecting it and now finder dosn't find it but I see it in disk utility (although I cant repair permissions) How do I get finder to recognize my hard drive after pulling my hard drive out without eject...? Is my hard drive dead? I see it in disk utility... Can I get my info back?
Thank you so much for any help

In Disk Utility you need to see a volume or partition in addition to the drive.
If all you see is the drive, then when you ejected it you proably corrupted the volume or partition on the drive.
If that is true then your chances of getting anything back are slim at best.
About the only thing I know that might work not is to send the disk out to a service for recovery. This is going to cost like $$$$.
Is the data worth that much?

I am getting the PowerPC applications are no longer supported error, so I downloaded Libreoffice and can not find it on my hard drive anywhere. It did say it would install to Applications, but it's not there. How do I find it and can I put it in my dock?

    In Safari's preferences:
Look in the folder displayed where you see the arrow. The actual Downloads folder is found in your Home (user) folder.

  • Can't find my external USB hard drive

Just downloads OS X Yosemite, and now I can't get my usb external hard drive to show up when i plug it in, can't find it anywhere in finder. anyone know how to fix it?

Right, managed to get my WD Ultra passport working (the external hard drive I'm using) basically if you have a external hard drive in which you need to enter a password, you will have to enter the password before you can access it, the is irrelevant to whether or not you set the settings to automatically unlock the drive when you plug it in which is what i did but i have to now enter my password in every time. also it may take a few tries to get into it, think the new software is a bit glitchy towards the different ports on the mac i.e. usb and stuff. If you don't need a password just keep plugging it again and again, thats what i did to get rid of a error message saying the drive was unreadable.will let you know if i know any other ways to make it work, i didn't try the test disk thing either thought id just try unplugging it again then if that didn't work i'd try it.
    hope this helps.
    good luck.

  • Suddenly my PC can not find out TC's hard drive

I use TC as home sharing hard drive and connect my PC with TC through ethernet cable, but suddenly can not find it at my computer

That sounds like firewall. Or some fault in ethernet.
Are the connectivity lights on.. both the TC ethernet port and the PC port should be alight?
If so, turn off all firewalls and make sure the computer is set in home .. not work or public area.
In the command window type ipconfig /all
Make sure you are getting an ip from the TC.. if not manually set it.
Some recent windows updates have been causing issues.. this is so familiar to any windows user.. a perfectly working system is ruined because MS thinks they are smarter.. use system restore to roll back to time when the PC worked.
From there work out which update killed it by loading them one by one.
This is why I moved to Mac btw.

Yup. Still not there...only my Mac HD came out...my WD external HD can be detected coz it's the one I'm using for time machine back-up but my Toshiba external HD is still not present/ mounted in finder and I still cannot choose it in disk utility even if it is listed there...

  • I can't find my USB external hard drive.

I have macbook pro with OSX 10.6.8 . I have been using a Seagate Free Agent GoFlex Desk 2TB usb Hard Drive as my Time machine backup drive. I had it connected to my airport base station and it was working. I had to move the Base Station to a different location and now the hard drive can't be found. I have even tried doing a direct connection to the Notebook USB drive. The light go on on the front of the drive but I can not find it in finder or time machine. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks.

I have a somewhat similar problem. I've been running my MacBook off an external USB drive. I haven't used it in a while but now I get the flashing question mark as well. Safe mode tells me to restart the laptop. PRAM (sic) reset doesn't work. The drive mounts without a problem on my Mac Pro.

  • I can't find numbers on my hard drive

I had been working a spreadsheet in numbers.  Not sure what happened but now all I can access is a PDF of the spreadsheet.  When Iopen applications and select iWork, Numbers is not there just the PDF.  I can't find my original installation CD that came with my MacBook Pro.  Is Numbers possibly still on my hard drive and I just cant find it?  Please help me get it back!  Thanks

iWork isn't on the OS installation DVD - it's a seperate purchase, either on DVD (iWork '09) or as individual applications from the App Store.
Assuming it was installed from a DVD, you'll need to find it.

  • IMac can't find my attached external hard drive for Time Machine.  Any ideas?

I have a Seagate for Mac external hard drive I have been using for my Time Machine backups.  Last week it was no longer backing up.  I unplugged it, reattached but Time Machine doesn't seem to be able to find it.

Sounds like the external disk drive has died.
If you have access to another computer, try testing it there. If not, you might be able to get the Apple Store to test it for you.

  • ITunes can't find music on external hard drive Help!

We moved my friend's iTunes music to an external hard drive. Everything was working fine until this week. Somehow the location of the music got changed back to her C drive. I redid the location but now every song has the exclamation mark. I would trash the music folder on the external drive and have her import the songs again from her DVD back ups but she has over 4,000 songs. Any other way to do this? I'm a Mac person so please explain the PC steps clearly. She is running Windows Vista.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Somehow the location of the music got changed back to her C drive.
Because iTunes was started with the external drive not plugged in or not online and ready.
I redid the location but now every song has the exclamation mark
Select all the songs in iTunes, right click - Get info.

  • Can't find iTunes Library on external drive after iTunes 8 install

My music library (50GB) has always been on an external drive. After installing iTunes 8 I went to preferences to change from default to this drive but nothing showed up. The complete library is still on the disk. Tried reinstalling V 7 but still no luck.
Any ideas how to "reconnect" the library ?
iPOD is also still complete. Is there a reverse recovery that my iPOD content could be retrieved to my external drive as the library ?

Changing the Library location within iTunes instructs the program were to store future music when Importing - not where to go look for current music.
You music files may be on the ExHD, but your music metadata (Playlists, Playcounts, Ratings, and other potential important attributes) are kept in the Library Database file. See: What are the iTunes Library files?
If you did not save a copy of this file, you may be in for a long recovery.
This well-written iLounge Article is a must-read for anyone who wants/needs a better understanding of how iTunes manages your music. It may shed some light on what you need to do next. or at the very least, help you describe your specific problem here a bit better.

  • I've seemed to have deleted my iPhoto app and can't get back to my desktop.  It had numerous pictures of mine included and can't find them in my hard drive where do i find it and restore it?

I've been trying to do some cleanup on my mac, and somehow have removed my iPhoto from my desktop and can't get it back, i don't know how to get it back.  I've had years of pictures on it and am going to be pretty hot if i can't get it back up.

Is it in your Applications Folder?
    If not
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Can't find iPhoto font on hard drive

I have Bradley Hand in iPhoto. I can use it when I send an email or make a slideshow. However, I can't seem to use it or find it anywhere else on my computer.
Spotlight doesn't find it and it is not available to me in other programs. Any information to solve this issue?
I'm using iPhoto 11 on Lion.
    Thanks...

Odd. On my System it's in
    HD/ Library / Fonts
But you should access via the Font browser built into the apps only.
