Can't Find Camera Raw Folder

I have a Mac, and have Creative Cloud download. I can open up a RAW image by using Bridge, and I see that Camera Raw is working, however, I can't find the path to download presets. I get to Adobe but there is only two options: Adobe Patch Files and Flash Player. What am I doing wrong? Just paid good money for these presets and I would love to use them!!!

Does the place you downloaded them from give any directions?
It should be in
/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings

Windows Find File can't find Camera Raw.8bi though it's there

Hi everybody,
Must be my age, but here it is:
Windows Find File (the search utility from the Start button in XP) can't find Camera Raw.8bi although it's sitting perfectly inside:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plugins\CS3\File Formats.
Even *.8bi didn't find it (or any other .8bi file for that matter). The obvious search strings *did* find the couple of archived ACR files I backed up, including the latest, but not the one sitting in it's normal spot.
I then tried my second PS machine (the laptop) and there the same happened (no ACR file found although its there).
On both computers ACR 4.3.1 is working correctly. I was just checking their location, because sometimes after a camera file ingest session, Bridge shows some Raw files as generic icons, which also have no metadata, and have "no" after "supports XMP".
The latter problem aside, maybe someone knows what I'm overseeing in the file find thing.
No folders or files in the above path are flagged Hidden or System, or anything.

Ok, That's ready (pffft!)
Now the file find problem. I put a check on the "hidden files" box, an now it actually finds it.
But it's not "hidden", nor "system". Just "archive".
So then I looked to see if any of the folders in the path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plugins\CS3\" was hidden, but no.
Fine. Heck, I got other things to do. It's not important. Faggettaboutit. Thanks for thinking with me!

Can't find camera raw

Hi gang,
I've got PS CS6 installed on my Mac and working fine with my raw files (NEF) but I can't open the files in camera raw before going to PS.
The option "Open with> Camera Raw" on the riht click in the finder does not exist.
The camera raw extention is correctly installed in PS C6
Is anybody got an idea?
This think make me nuts

Good grief, Fabrice! You need to update Photoshop ASAP. You should be on version 13.0.4 on your Mac.

No, you would never find ACR in the Finder. It's not a "program" or application but a plug-in that can be hosted either by Photoshop or by Adobe Bridge.
You cannot call on ACR by itself. ACR is available only when you specifically and deliberately open one or more supported files, and then it open either hosted by Photoshop or by Bridge.
What you are seeing is perfectly normal, expected behavior.
Now go and update Photoshop this very instant—you are four versions behind! Any file you create or have already created in 13.0.0 is potentially, permanently and irreparably compromised.

Can't find Camera Raw\Cache on my C drive

When I go to Preferences in LR4, it says my Cache is located: C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Adobe\CameraRaw\Cache.
When I do a search under my C drive, I can only get as far as Owner, from there I can't find AppDate or the rest.
Any idea where else to look?

If you are having rendering or thumbnail problems it doesn’t hurt to clear the cache as an experiment to see if it helps, with the understanding that any raw images you view afterwards aren’t going to be in the cache so it will take more time to render them the first time.
You want your raw cache size to be bigger than the working set of photos for one session so it’s not continually purging and rebuilding the cache as you go through your set of photos because the cache isn’t big enough to hold all the photos in your working set.

Aperture put about 700 images in an untitled project folder, but all the images are the JPEGs. What am I missing?

Have you checked your "Import" settings for "Raw&Jpeg" pairs in the "Import" panel?
You can set Aperture to import raw, jpeg, or raw&jpeg.
If you imported Raw&Jpeg, but have set Aperture to use the Jpeg as original, you will see the imported image as Jpeg image, not as a raw image, even if the raw has also been imported. You can switch between Raw and Jpeg originals for selected images from the Photos menu:
Photos > Use Raw as original.

Uh huh...and you'll need to convert those NEF files to DNG files using the free DNG Converter in order to use them with Photoshop CS5. Either that or upgrade to Photoshop CS6. BTW, it's prolly not a great idea to post your personal information on a forum...you might want to edit that out.

Can't install Camera RAW 6.3 into Elements 9

I have downloaded the installer for 6.3 but when I go to install it, I get this message. "Some updates failed to install." When it tells me to fix the problems below, all it says is: installation failed!
I need this update in order to open RAW images from my Canon Powershot S95.
I am working with Elements 9 on both an iMac running OS 10.6.8 and onto a new MacBook Pro.
I have spent an hour reading everything I can and haven't been able to find any place to send this question to Adobe by email. The phone system for help has more than a half-hour of wait time.
Can someone figure out this problem?

Thank you. I couldn't find the Mac update section at the Adobe site by
using the various search options.
But,
The new download 6.5 installed without trouble. However, the "open with"
command still prompted Elements to respond with an "Unrecognized file type"
error, even though Elements was not listed as the default application.
Trying to open a nef file within Actrobat still showed the nef files grayed
out as unopenable with the application.
I tried to do the manual copying of the camera raw.plugin from the Assets 2
folder as you suggested. H owever it does not appear to be used in the
newer version (6.5). Instead, there is a Profiles directory containing two
further directories: CameraProfiles and LensProfiles.
The CameraProfiles folder contains a series of further folders for various
camera types, and each folder had a number of .dcp files. I can't find a
"camera raw.plugin" anywhere within Assets 2.
So, in sum:
1) The disk image Elements9CameraRaw-6.5-mul-AdobeUpdate downloaded from
Adobe installs correctly.
2) The default program type for .nef files was changed to Elements
3) Elements will not open a .nef file either from "open with" or within the
application selecting open from the menu.
Hoping you can help me work around this problem.

It's not entirely clear to me, but I assume that you are trying to copy photos from the iPad to your computer (as opposed to syncing photos from your computer to the iPad), possibly using the windows camera wizard ? If so then the message is saying that it can't find a folder called 'New folder' on your computer which is presumably where it copied the last set of photos to (?). I don't use the wizard to copy the photos from iPad (I do it manually via windows explorer) so I don't know how it works, but aren't you able to tell it to copy the photos to a different folder on your computer other than one called 'new folder' ? This page gives basic info for copying photos from the iPad to your computer http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 (it is not done via iTunes).
If you want to copy photos to the iPad from your computer then there are instructions on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236 - that is done via iTunes using the Photos tab on the right-hand side of iTunes when you've selected the iPad on the left-hand side of it

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

For me it's a little faster than 7.1 to initially show the dialog on an open (by a small fraction of a second), but about the same as 7.0. It's a bit slower to open an image into Photoshop once the button has been hit, though.
I haven't seen any difference in the control response - it was interactive with virtually instantaneous response before for me and 7.2 was the same. An image quality issue, where the new Defringe feature doesn't quite work as well as its predecessor has caused me to drop back to version 7.0, though, and I do enjoy the faster opens.
I posted a set of instructions for benchmarking your performance at the following link, though there is nothing there about control responsiveness. You may want to go through that process, and also measure your control responsiveness. If you can show that your system opens up Camera Raw and does the actual conversions at the same speed as others' systems, yet has vastly slower control response, that could make your point that you have a specific problem.

Unfortunately no - Photos use extensions and the vendor (adobe) will have to implement the extension to allow external edits in PS or PSE
For now you must export the photo, edit and then import - not great but a work arond
And you can continue to use iPhoto until Photos meets your needs - launch it in your applications folder - if you need assistance on this see Why won't my iPhotos open?

Nobody can know. You have not provided even the most basic system info nor any proper version info about ACR and whatever. Eitehr way, ask in the ACR forum.

I accidentally highlighted my camera raw folder and it's contents in my library on my Mac. Please help me get it back.

I opened my library on my mac and was looking for my settings file under camera raw and I didn't see it. As I was looking, I accidentally highlighted the camera raw folder and it's contents, and when I let go, they were gone.
unfortunately my laptop has been off backup and I can't restore thru time machine.

I am trying to install some presets from mastinlabs.com, and in their instructions it says to do the following:
open library
open application support
open adobe
open camera raw
open settings
I don't have "settings" in my camera raw folder.

Itunes can't find my music folder

I can't install Itunes....it downloads fine from the exe file but when i try to open itunes it gives me the error msg that it can't find My Music folder. I went to the support page and it told me that if i couldn't find My Music folder to create one in My documents and download/install Tweak UI. I did and followed all the steps except when it asks me to click on My computer, then special folder and can't find the My Music folder to move it. I am using Windows XP....Please help. Has anyone ever had this problems?

it's stupid, you have to hold down the shift key while you open iTunes (don't just hold it while you click, keep holding it until iTunes actually shows the library dialog).
