Can't find flash player to play downloaded videos

I've downloaded the latest version of flash player successfully, and I can see it on the control pannel, but it won't appear on my list of programs, or when I try to play a downloaded .flv file.
I use Windows XP Professional, version 5.1, 32 bit, Mozilla Firefox 24.0, Flash Player 11.9.900.
As a note, all videos play fine when I use Firefox, and I've already tried all the solutions offered on this page:

You won't find it in programs because it ISN'T one. It's a browser plugin, and will appear in Add-ons for Firefox (or Plugins for IE)
You can Download the Windows Flash Player 11.9 Projector  which is a standalone player, but it lacks most of the controls like videos have in a web browser.
You'll find FLV files play A LOT better if you use  VLC Media Player.
I've used it for FLV, MP4, MPEG, MOV, WMV, and AVI playback for years.

  • I have a Mid 2009 Macbook Pro 13 with no restore disk; it has OS 10.8.4 I believe there is something wrong with the OS due to I can not install flash player to view Youtube videos and the when we plug in a Bose headset the sound out will work sometimes

I bough a used Macbook Pro mid 2009 that came with OS 10.8.9 it didn't have a backup restore disk with S/N W8******66D
When trying to view some youtube videos; a window would pop up saying "it needs adobe flash player is required for video play back get the latest flash player" but after downloading the file and during installation would have errors and will not installed.....tried to reboot and install again.....but still the same.
The othe thing I had noticed is when using a good Bose headset with mic the sound output would noticed the headset and then switch from headset to Internal speekers and headset.....thinking that there might be something wrong with the plug in port of the computer or the headset.....the headset works with no issues on my iPad so there must be something wrong with the computer.....tried to move the plugin around the port but no change....while the headset is plug in can hear a short clicking noise and the sound would get lost and back again......but with nothing plugin to the port there is no issue with the sound or mic.
Thanks for your feed back......it looks like I have two different issues one is a software issue and the outher is a hardware issue

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

  • I can't get flash player to play flash videos

I just bought an 24" 2.16 Core 2 Duo iMac and migrated my accounts from my G4 PowerBook and G4 800mhz iMac.
I go to websites such as Jay Leno's garage and LeftLaneNews ( http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/11/17/ford-bold-moves-22-professional-drivers-o n-a-closed-course/#more-4422 ) and the Flash Player 9 videos don't play. No erros. It just acts like it is forever downloading them and ... nothing.
I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.8 and Safari. I found the Flash uninstall for Mac OS X on Adobe's website and ran that (with all browsers closed" then downloaded and re-installed Flash 9. It shows that Flash 9 successfully installed.

Just to make it clear. I still can play Flash videos.

  • Can't find flash player

I just downloaded and installed the flash player but it dosen't appear as an icon on my desktop, dosen't appear on my programs list and when I search all files it says no results found. When I try to open a flash file, it tells me windows couldn't find a program that would open it. It does however appear on the add/remove programs list in the control panel. What's up? OS xp32bit. browser IE 32bit. player version 10.1

Hi, Glad you were able to Install that. Now I don't know what these videos are, but some websites/videos use the Shockwave Player also. Whether this is needed in addition to the Media Player, I'm not sure. I would not think so, but you could read about what the Shockwave Player does.
Another thing, is the hardware acceleration feature. Many users have turned it off. It is turned on by default.
That test site link in one of the above posts is where you can go there, right click on the Flash logo. Click on Settings, then Display Settings and you will see where you can turn it off. Try that and see if there is any improvement.
    Thanks,

  • Can't find Flash Player location

I have a flash video file (.FLV) on my desktop.  When I double-click to launch, Windows pops up to ask for a program association, naturally.  But when I browse for Flash Player, it isn't listed.  I could navigate thru Windows Explorer to the file - but I can't find it! (At least, it's not in Windows\System32\Adobe or Macromed - neither of those folders exist).  Control Panel>Uninstall Programs shows both Adobe Flash Player - ActiveX and AFP - Firefox Plugin as being installed - but no location is given.  And Control>Change File Associations does not even list a .FLV file type.
Where is AFP 10 installed to?  And how can I associate the file type?
Win 7 Home Prem 64-bit, Dell AMD Quad-core

U do have immense patience. I know that, bcoz mine'z almost fizzled
Add ons: (after my last update, some info has changed...This is the current one)
    Shockwave Flash Object: Enabled
    Shockwave ActiveX Control: Enabled
    Adobe PDF Link Helper: Enabled
    Adobe PDF Reader: Enabled
DLM Control: Enabled:: Publisher: Control name not available
    Then some Microsoft Add ons
In between all this I came across Flash player 8 (not adobe) in my Backup files. And I removed it. I tried searching for it and it does not show, so I am assuming, it has been removed.
There was a Adobe download manager, which i uninstalled...Therez no other DLM as of now, but as u see in the add ons, it shows ( so am pretty confused here)
Yeah...also, i have to keep deleting my downloaded files in windows folder, everytime i download.
And no, therz no message while installing. it says successfully installed. I  tried from the site directly and still nothing.
And thanks so much, for all the patience.

  • How can i find flash player 11.2 for android?

    Hi.
I know that adobe doesnt support android anymore. But why?
Is there a possebillity to get the version anywhere?
    Thanks for your help.

Android doesn't support Flash. Adobe continued making security fixes up till September of this year for older versions.
If you have Android 4, there isn't a Flash Player that's current for it.
You can find older versions here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
People will tell you that you can "sideload" it, but you void the warranty on your Android device if you do.
Android recommends using "Dolphin" or "Puffin" browser to view Flash content. Since playing Flash content uses so much processor, it drains bateries and shortens their life dramatically. Dolphin and Puffin use server side rendering to reduce the load on your Android device.

  • Can't find Flash Player on Symbian OS

Please, make it (Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22.87)for Symbian OS. You can! I know it. I trust in you!
    On English:
Peoples, I ask, who can knows, whether is such programm (on a site has not found) on like Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22.87 versions only for smart Nokia N82 that it was possible, for example from the same device to leave in vkontakte.ru, to look through there video, to listen to the songs left on a page and to play flash-game new the priest  "the Farmer". Or may who can make it?
    Thankful in advance.
The program can be popular that who constantly sits in contact. And not always a number is a computer, whether and so it would be desirable to check up " " the farmer " " all vegetables on a place.. Or to look video, to listen song from the page.
Realization of my idea each tenth user of a smart (according to the most conservative estimates), it very conveniently and interestingly will want to itself!
Please, make it (Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22.87)for Symbian OS. You can! I know it. I trust in you!

Those error messages sound very unique. And you did a clean reinstall of OS X?  Makes no sense..
Here's what I think you should do..
    1. Open a web support case at http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer (there is no phone support for Flash Player, webcase only)
    2. Take screen shots (using the Grab utility) of each error message
    3. Submit those screen shots as attachments to your web case
    4. Post the case number to this thread
    5. Post the screen grabs as attachments to this thread
I'll try to check up on it.  You will probably get the usual tier 1 support email. Just insist on being escalated, and make sure they don't close the case.

  • Not finding flash in samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 with android 4.0... where can i find flash player?

hi, i just bought a galaxy tab 2 7.0 with android ice cream but i don't find adobe flash player
    where do i find it?

    Hi,
The list of Adobe certified devices can be found here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet-apps/flashruntimes/certified-devices.html
It does not look like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is an officially supported device. Also, on the page above I found the following statement.
"Please note: Flash Player will not be certified for any device OS beyond Android 4.0.x." Ice Cream Sandwich is version 4.1.

  • I have a windows nokia phone when can we expect flash player as a download for these mobiles

when will we be getting flash player for windows phones

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

  • Flash Player only plays one video on Fox News

When I first open Safari and go to Fox News videos, it will play the first one but after that, it goes black and shows nothing.
I tried uninstalling and installing the newest version but still nothing.  I can watch videos everywhere else but here.
    Any suggestions?

The videos that DO work are most likely HTML5 which requires no plugin.
Spotlight search "Flash Player.plugin" and trash EVERYTHING in the results.
Go to: [user]/Library/Preferences (Hold the "Option" key when you click "Go" from the Finder menu to access this folder)
    Trash the com.macromedia.Flash Player.app.plist file.
Trash the Macromedia folder from there as well (the WHOLE folder).
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Flash Player folder and the Flash Player Install Manager folder.
Go to: Mac HD/Library/ Internet Plugins.
    Trash the flashplayer.xpt file.
    Empty the trash.
Download the offline installer: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac /install_flash_player_11_osx.dmg  and run it.
If after all that, it still doesn't work, we'll need to look at other plugins you have that may be causing a conflict.
I have Safari, Firefox, Opera and Chrome, as well as a few "off brand" browsers and Flash Player works in all of them. Late 2012 Mini, Core15, 16Gb RAM.
