Can't find HP Deskjet F380

Hello. I bought an HP Deskjet F380 all in one for my Macbook. Installation went fine Monday and printed a few photos and documents. Tried using it again Wednesday to print out a few pics, but nothing happened. Job operation on printer browser says it's going through, but then says job stops. Everything else seems to be in order - chosen right printer on printer utility, right paper, utility is fine, USB cord is new and firmly in place, but still nothing.
I unstalled and re-installed the printer software. Now I'm stuck at HP Setup assistant for configuration. The printer choice, that was there Monday, is nowhere to be found. Called HP tech support. They think it's the USB cord (or possibly port on either printer or MB since the printer is not being ID'd on the computer. I'm not sure it's the cord. Like I said, it's new and worked before. And it's working with an external zip drive I had.
My question: Anyone else had a similar problem with his Deskjet or 300 series? Do you think it could be a port on the MB (which I doubt) or the printer? Might there be any other factor I'm overlooking and should consider? Should I try to download a new driver/software? Or just get a new USB cord?

Have you tried turning the power off to the printer for a while? This can sometimes help with getting the HP Setup to see the printer again.

  • Does the hp deskjet f380 all-in-one can work on a mac os x 10.7.5 ?

does the hp deskjet F380 all-in-one can work on a mac os x 10.7.5 ? I bought my all-in-one F380 in october 2007 and I would like to use it on my new computer Mac OS X 10.7.5 bougt in december 2011. The DVD from 2007 seems to be unavailable now on my computer. Can you provide me a new way th install the F380 ? Thanks in advance,

Update:I use mac OS 10.10, but i scrolled down in the driver download menu and selected mac OS 10.6. There I downloadedHP Deskjet PSC and office jet full feature software and drivers v 10.3. This gave me access to full feature software including utility, customer partcipation and scanner software. HP printer software V. 3.1 then automatically downloaded when i clicked apple update in the application store. Interestingly however this is not the version mentioned in the software I use though. Post download, the version of the printer driver mentioned for Deskjet F380 is v2.05 and the version for the utility software is 5.24.2 valid till 2015. Now both my HP Deskjet F380 and  HP PSC 1310 all-in-one PRINT Thanks HP! ISSUES: HOWEVER neither can SCAN! while the F380 shows a scanning error, the PSC 1310 doesn't even pop up as a selectable device to scan with! PLEASE FIX THIS HP! • I can not find a suitable driver for my hp deskjet 1280 for OS X 10.7 Lion (macbook) Please help.

I can not find a suitable driver for my hp deskjet 1280 for os x 10.7.  Since updating my software the printer will only use basic functions and prints only black and white, how do I enable the printers full capabilities? Thanks!

Hi,Officially the printer no longer supported on OS X 10.6 or above, therefore the reduced quality due the Generic driver usage:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&task Id=120&prodSeriesId=439162&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=439162&objectID=c018563 59
However, you may try the 3rd party HPIJS print drivers which list your printer as supported and will more likely provide you a better qualiity then a Generic driver.
Be sure to install any of the 3 required downloads and follow the steps to Set Up the printer:

  • HP DeskJet 9650 Can't Find Driver

It had been working. Printing in color and doing exactly what it was suppose to do. It decided not to print in color. Went in and found out that it was using the driver for a hp laserjet printer. Can't find the driver for the hp9650 even though I installed in on the computer from the disc itself. HELP.

Right now I am able to print in black with my HP Deskjet 9650 with the driver set as HP LaserJet 1010 - Gutenprint v.5.2.3. If I change it to another HP driver such as 970C -Gutenprint v. 5.2.3 it will print in color a tiny part of the page in color as if you had double vision. There are two tiny parts of the page side by side.
Even went to HP and downloaded the latest version of the driver for my printer. What is confusing me is that even after downloading the latest version of the driver, I am not seeing it listed under the section where the drivers are listed. Seeing everybody else (HP included) just not HP DeskJet 9650. At this point I would take 9600.
I really do appreciate all of you suggestions.
Just switched back to Mac after using Windows for years. Been a great experience except for this. Wondering if I should go back to the OS that came with my Mac? Printer was clicking along in color before updating to OS X.

    Hi @panduke,
I understand that you would like to be able to email a multiple page scan. I can help you today.
I don't have access to the Cue 13 software that you are using, so I will provide a couple of ways to be able to check the setting for creating a separate file for each scanned page or not. If these steps don't match the software that you are using, please provide a screen shot of the software.
Most likely these steps are similar to your software. Cue 14 software.
Open the HP Solutions Center software for scanning, click on the Change Settings button, click the Advanced Picture Settings button, check Scan multiple photos to a individual file. Press OK.
    Lite v22 software.
In the HP Solutions Center software for scanning, click the link Advanced Settings, click on the File tab.
Uncheck Create a separate file for each scanned page.
    Press OK.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Can't find printer in print browser

Somehow my printer disappeared from the print browser. I have a ibook G4 laptop running OSX 4.11, that is connected to my desktop via a router. Last night I could not print from it (the desktop printing is working just fine). I tried the printer setup utility and no printers are listed nor are any printers found. I downloaded a print driver but can't find it when I do a search using the print browser and am not sure where to look to find it .
I also tried to add the IP manually (am sure this wasn't the original setup) and using localhost:631 (on the desktop) > manage printers, but the device URI shows up as file://dev/null.
My desktop is a powermac G4 running 10.5.7, the printer is an HP deskjet 5650. All worked great until last night.
I've tried everything I can think of and would appreciate any guidance.
    Thanks,
    HB

Hmmm, something is wrong I suspect.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

  • HP Utility won't list my device (Deskjet F380) in Mac OS 10.6.8

Hi, I just downloaded the 10.6 drivers and software for my HP Deskjet F380 printer and I want to clean the print heads, but HP Utility doesn't show the device and won't respond when I click to add a device.
The printer is connected fine and shows up in System Profiler and Print & Fax Prefs, and the ink levels show up too. It just won't show in HP Utility. So how can I clean the print heads?
    Thanks
    Sarah

OK, let's get rid of the HP software altogether:
Uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Now reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • T400 Windows 7 64bit Can't Find Printer Driver

    Hi all,
Perhaps someone can  help with this puzzling problem. Just bought the T400 w/Win 7 64 bit from the Lenovo website. It is great except one thing.
I have a Win2k T22 ThinkPad on the network with a parallel port HP laserjet 6L and a USB port HP DeskJet 970cxi. When I go to add a printer on the T400, Win7 searches the network and finds the printers. For the 6L it downloaded a driver and it works fine. For the 970cxi it tries to find a driver from MS website but can not find a driver.
When I connect the970cxi printer directly to a USB port on the Win7 T400 it finds a driver and it works fine. But not over the network? Even after it found a driver when it was connected locally?
On the network is a Debian Linux computer that can print to both printers. I turned on printer sharing on it. The T400 can find the printers on the Linux box and can print to both the 6L and 970cxi.
I loaded VirtualBox on the T400 and then install Ubuntu Linux. The Ubunu Linux can find the printers and can print to both.
Does anyone know what the heck is going on here? Why can't the T400 find a driver for the 970cxi printer but when it's connected directly it finds the printer driver and works?
    Is this a Win7 64 bit issue?
    No driver available?
    Communication problem w/printer?
Buy a new printer and throw out a perfectly good printer?
    Thanks,
    Rich
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I did as you suggested but now get a different error: 0x00000214
I googled this and found others with the same problem. Tried the solution and it worked!
    Here's the link:
    Network Printer Problem Link
In case the link gets broken I cut and pasted it here:
    1. Click Start, click Control Panel and double click Devices and Printers.
    2. Click Add a Printer.
    3. Select "Add a local printer".
    4. Select "Create a new port". Choose "Local Port" as the type of the port.
    5. In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format.
\\Network address of the host computer\[The Share Name of the printer
    Then click Next.
    6. Choose the correct driver in the driver list. If no available driver, click the button Windows Update, wait for the process finishes and then look for the driver again.
    7. Finish the installation.
Thanks! Your suggection got me to an error I could identify. And a solution. I hope others find this helpful.

  • New MacBookPro. Where can I find a driver for my Microtek Scanmaker 3600

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro (10.6.8) but to date, haven't been able to find any software/driver to use for my scanner, including the Microtek site. I have a Microtek Scanmaker 3600 that still works perfectly. I have searched forums and online sites for software to use the scanner on the new laptop and hate to think I need to buy a new scanner when the 3600 works fine. I have an HP Deskjet 930C and was able to find the software/driver to use on the new laptop. Does anyone know where I can find the software/driver to get my scanner to work?
Where can I find a driver for my Microtek Scanmaker 3600. Tried VueScan and TwainSane without success. Do not want to buy a new scanner when old one runs great. Please Help?
    Thanks!

    Thank you for the response.
I downloaded it and it keeps telling me "No Scanner Detected." I looked on their website under supported scanners, found my Microtek ScanMaker 3600 and it says "NO" for Mac.
    http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/microtek_scanmaker_3600.html
I just sent an email to them asking if VueScan does support a my scanner. I hope it does. I have been searching but am not proficient or know enough of what to look for. I just don't want to have to buy another scanner.

  • Running HP Deskjet F380 on a laptop running Windows 7

My old computer died. It was a 9 year old Dell running Windows XP. I cannot load the software for my HP Deskjet F380 on the laptop I bought at a pawnshop. I get the message that the HP software is not compatible with my version of Windows: "Current OS: Windows XP 64 bit; Supported: Windows 2000, Windows XP" -- this is wrong. I'm running Windows 7.
Is there a work around for this. I love this model. Please advise.

    Hi,
Where do you get the driver ? From the old CD ? If yes, the CD knows nothing about Windows 7. Please download Full Feature Software and Drivers from the following link and install it on your Windows 7 machine.

  • TS1292 i can't find options of none payment method in my account

i can't find options of none payment method in my account

There are two possible drivers, HP Deskjet 5550 (HPA) (HP) and HP Deskjet 5550 (HPA) (Microsoft).  Either of these should work, I think the HP one is a bit newer.  What is the nature of "not working"?  You could also use the HP Deskjet 990 driver.
The HP Windows 7 Printer Install Wizard at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help automatically install the proper driver.

  • Can't get my deskjet 1050 printer to work as wireless

How do I to use my deskjet 1050 printer as wireless by connecting it to my router? Windows 8 64-bit. It keeps saying, I need to install the wireless connection procedure, but I can't find anything like that. My router is supposed to be able to turn any printer into a wireless.

Even though this printer isn't wireless, there is a way to to use it wirelessly! Here's what you need:Google Chrome on whatever computer you're trying to use the printer froma Google account so you can sign into chrome DO THESE FIRST STEPS ON THE COMPUTER THAT THE PRINTER IS ALREADY CONNECTED TO VIA USB CABLE okay so what you have to do is open up chrome and in the top right hand corner there is a little button looks like three stacked horizontal linesclick that and sign into google chrome (a gmail account works or create a new account)then what you have to do is click that same button and go to settingsscroll all the way down and click advanced settingsonce again, scroll all the way down until you get to Google Cloud Printclick manage and then click add printersit will go to another screen and you should be able to search/add the hp deskjet (this may take a little patience)once everything is connected, all that is left is to print go to the customize and control button (that 3 horizontal lines button in the top right hand corner in crhome) go to settings > advanced settings > cloud print > manage and click the hp deskjeton the left hand side click print and click upload file to printthen pick whatever fille you want to print and WAHLAA! its printing (as long as ur printer is powered on of course)this way you can print wirelessly without losing formatting like you would if you uploaded it to google docsnow you can print to this printer from any computer as long as you are signed in from chrome and the printer is on! • I can't find a wifi printer on my imac

    Hello,
I can't find a wifi printer on my imac. It's always linked automatically to wifi printers before. It's an HP deskjet, I've tried downloading drivers for it, but still no joy. Any ideas what I should do? Thanks,

In future posts, please tell us more of the details - which printer, which Mac, which OS X version, etc. Have you changed anything lately?
First thing I would try is Reset Printing System (and after, try adding the printer again):
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system - Apple Support
Read here about which printers are supported, and how we Normally get drivers now (Not by downloading directly from Manufacturer):
