Can't find i-tunes library in iPhoto and iMovie

have migrated to a new mac.
Everything looks o.k.
The only thing I can't use is iTunes when creating a slideshow in iPhoto or a movie in iMovie
Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem. Have the latest versions of iTunes and iMovie. I've used iMovie before and never had this problem. I can't add any songs to a track. When I do I get this error: "iMovie song could not be used because the original file could not be located." Please help.

Look for them on your old computer, when found copy the files to a USB drive and move them to the new computer.

    Hey andcar1,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If iTunes cannot find the library, you can look on your computer to find it. The following article will assist with finding those files.
No content shows up in iTunes after updating

This article is informative and will let you know where files are typically located on your computer.

  • Free alternatives to iPhoto and iMovie

I have an iBook (2003) model running Tiger. I do not have iLife and do not want to buy it. Can you suggest some free alternatives to iPhoto and iMovie?
    I would like to do,
simple photo editing: Resize into 4'X6', change contrast and brightness, crop, etc.
simple video editing: crop small videos
    Thanks for your suggestions.

Since when is updating your software a bad thing?
When the Software Maker mucks up and pushes out a bad update. It happens. Some folks on here had their Faces processes bunged up by an update, others have graphics issues induced by upgrading to 10.6. These things happen to every software manufacturer at some time or other. And that's just two current examples. It is impossible to test every bit of software on every concievable hardware and software scenario.
I agree there should be an on/off switch, but I do think that ppl are stubborn when it comes to updating their software. I think that this is meant to benefit the vast majority of users who don't bother to update their software, than the minority who do.
And that's where forums like this are invaluable. Before you apply an update you can come here and see if other folks have an issue and then decide for yourself if you want to apply the update.
Unless, that is, you use Picasa (or Chrome, or their Search Utility). In these cases you specifically give Google the right to update the software on your machine with whatever they think fit whenever they think fit. And you cannot install Picasa without agreeing to this.
    Correct. Moving along...
Why on earth would a software maker want this unlimited access to your Machine?
They're not getting "unlimited access" to my/your/anyone's machine. They're updating a piece of software installed on your machine. You agreed to let them update the software when you installed it--this is hardly a bad thing letting the developer update their software.
Don't believe me? Read the EULA or see here:
    http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Picasa/thread?tid=27117d0828181bf3&hl=en#a ll
This is a forum link, not a direct link to the EULA. The EULA is in the software upon installing it, and on this link:
    http://picasa.google.com/intl/en_US/web/tos.html
Other oddities when in that Licence agreement:
You give Google unlimited rights to use your images as they think fit:
By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.
Correct. I've read the Picasa EULA and your quote is correct, yet incomplete. The EULA also states....
"You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services." << In other words, Google is stating, clearly, that you own the copyright to all of your content and Google is not trying to take that way from you.
....it is very clear what is considered"content" and what is "services". You do not give up any rights to your content, period. The quote you mention above has more to deal with the online portion of the Picasa software, not with the Desktop app itself--it'sunder the Picasa EULA under sec. 1.1 (the very, very top), as stated...
+1.1 "Your use of Google's products, software, services, and _web sites_ _(referred to collectively as the "Services" in this document and excluding any services provided to you by Google under a separate written agreement)_ is subject to the terms of the legal agreement between you and Google.+
Now, when you read it up close, it is saying that anything you transmit to Picasa that is public may be used in the front page advertising (just like Flickr does, _see below_). Moreover, they put this in the EULA...
+In addition, by submitting, posting or displaying Content _which is intended to be available to the general public_, you grant Google a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt, distribute and publish such Content for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting Google services. _Google will discontinue this licensed use within a commercially reasonable period after such Content is removed from Picasa Web Albums._ Google reserves the right to refuse to accept, post, display or transmit any Content in its sole discretion.+
    Here's Yahoo/Flickr's EULA....
    http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/utos/utos-173.html
+Yahoo! does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the Yahoo! Services. However, with respect to Content you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Yahoo! Services, _you grant Yahoo! the following worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license(s), as applicable_+
If you read either of them, they are both telling you the *exact same thing*--make it public, we'll use it. You can post to either service as private or unlisted, but what's the point? Plus, they are not going to use anything that is not intended for the general public (as Google's EULA specifically states) for their own advertising.
I think ppl have this misconception that Google is going on your computer, ripping your photos out from under you, and showing your kid's 4th birthday party photos all over Google Ads. Bottom line, it is only saying that if you make something Public, it's possible that it will end up as part of a gallery advertisement just as it would on a Google or Yahoo Image search.
Perhaps you're a trusting soul and I'm a jaded cynic. But I wouldn't give that right to anybody.
Hey, don't get me wrong....I've got my tin foil hat right here but there is a lot of misinformation out there and ppl take things out of context. Plus, if you think Google's EULA is "scary", read Facebook's EULA sometime. I can sooner understand people's concern over privacy than I do over the concern over copyright.

How can I transfer my stickienotes data from my imac to a new macbook air computer? I can't find it in Library as I should.

You can download CS4 here. Download CS4 products
Most comments I've seen say CS4 needs to be run in compatibility mode on Win 8.1. Windows 8.1 compatibility for Adobe Photoshop CS4 version 11
But the only way to know for sure is to try it.

  • How can I use my itunes library for iphoto slideshow?

how can I use my itunes library for iphoto slideshow?

    Here's a possible workaround:
Create the slideshow in Iphoto and add a theme and music.
Install Picasa  and it will include the slideshow on it's indexed list.
Upload the slideshow to PicasaWebAlbums and send the link to anyone you wish.
The music and theme is preserved.
Caveat: My playback pictures appear darker than usual but that could be just lousy photography...:)

  • ITunes can't find my music library. Pleas help!

I just upgraded my iTunes. Next time I tried opening it a window appeared that read: "Can't find your iTunes Library..."
I tried searching by opening start/computer/iTunes but the file that has all my music was renamed to: bd4765ae206e5a7a782a28f08509 and when I tried opening it all I found was a list of 4 files that I can't open.
I know all my music is still there because the file still uses 125 GB in my computer, but I can't seem to run iTunes or I can't seem to point iTunes into finding my music.
    Please anyone help!!!

If you did not rename that file, then I am a little worried there might be a larger problem looming (malware, etc.). If this is so, then finding the file might not even help.
I recommend restoring from a backup. If the backup was made before this file changed, then you should be fine.
If you would like to stick with what you've got, then this Apple Support article should provide you with the instructions you need: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1391

  • I created a 2nd library for my husbands music and now I can't find my original library. I did hold down the shift key to open itunes but is still comes up with the new library. What am I doing wrong? I tried several times with no luck. Thank you.

I just got an Ipod Classic recently and downloaded Itunes. Got my music on my Ipod. My husband just got an Ipod Touch. I followed the directions on how to create a 2nd library and was able to load his music onto his Ipod. My problem is now I can not find my original library. I did what the directions said about holding down the shift key while opening Itunes and it still goes to the 2nd library that I created. How do i get my original library to come up? I tried several times with the same results. Please let me know what I need to do to be able to get into either library. Thank You.

Does the original library file still exist on the computer?  Hopefully when creating the new library it was done in a seperate folder as I do not believe iTunes allows for two library files in the same location.

There's none. You need to buy it, either from the Mac App Store(requires upgrading your OS) or from an iLife 11 DVD.

  • Can't find my iTunes library after transferring it from Windows to Mac

    Hi!
I've followed all the steps to transfer my iTunes library from an HP laptop with Windows XP to a MacBook Air using the Windows Migration Assistant, but when the process is finished (after waiting for more than 8 hours), I can't find where the library has been saved.
I'd be really grateful if you could tell me where I can find it or if there's a problem with my computers.
    Thanks in advance!

Migration Assistant creates a new user with the migrated data, so it probably created another user. To access to it, go to  > Log Out, and log in the new user. Then, your photos should be in Pictures folder.
If you want to merge them with the other user, you can use an external drive or the Shared folder to transfer them to the first user

  • On a Mac where can I find the Thunderbird library?

I am trying to move my mailboxes to Apple Mail and I can't find the Thunderbird library. Where can I find the file?

Mail is probably looking for the profile folder, or one of its subfolders, and the easiest way to find it is from Help (or AppMenu/Help)/Troubleshooting Information, click Show Folder to open it in Finder.

iphoto and imovie were on the dock with the rest of them, can't find them on the hd or finder!

    Hi Darwin,
Is it possible you simply dragged them up off the Dock?
In Finder's Menu, select Go menu>Go to Folder, and go to..
    /Applications/
If either show up there, then drag them to the Dock again, if not report back.

    Please I'll be thankfull.

I stated that I did try to do all of this when I first set up the new computer...I did do the Setup Assistant numerous times but my old computer kept freezing half way through.  Even if I did it when I first got the new computer back in Septemeber, I would have had the same issue b/c my old computer has been 'broken' for a while.  My old computer can't handle doing too much at once and I think the setup and then migration functions I tried were too much.  That's why I was hoping I could use the migration function piecemeal.  I wish I could just check off the exact files and folders I want vs. having to choose it at the 'user' level...that's too much for my old computer to have to transfer.
