Can't Find iCal

When I first set up my Macbook Pro in January I decided to use Microsoft Entourage for all of my calendar data. I deleted iCal from my dock. Apparently I must have deleted it completely because I cannot find it in applications or anywhere else on the computer. I just bought an iphone and I am finding that it needs the connection to iCal to download appointment data. So, is there a way to either restore iCal or maybe it is hidden in a place I have not thought to look. Please help.

    JdSG,
Are you using iCal with OS X? If so, what version of OS X are you using?
iCal>Calendar>Publish...only works with MobileMe or a private server. These publishing features are only available with "On My Mac" calendars. iCloud uses Shared calendars which are made available to all authorized devices using CalDAV. To the best of my knowledge, you will not be able to use a http url with a shared calendar.

  • How can I put icons back on my doc? I can't find ical anywhere?

my doc is missing many icons and I can not get them back. I can not find the icalendar anywhere on my computer.

The program iCal should be in the folder named Applications, the one visible when you first open the hard drive's icon.
To put an icon on the Dock, locate the program and then either one of the following -
    • Run the program (double-click it). It's icon will automatically appear on the Dock. Right-click or Control-click the icon, and from the Options item in the popup menu that appears select "Keep in Dock" - doing so will prevent the icon from disappearing when the program is quit.
    • Drag the program's icon to the Dock, anywhere to the left of the dashed line. Wait for the icons there to move aside, then place the icon on the Dock.

  • Where can i find iCal E-Mail Invitation Templates?

I can't find the path /usr/share/caldavd/share/email_templates/invite.html (or any equivalents) described in this Thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3371815. Maybe the path has changed with OS X Mountain Lion Server, but i nearly searched the whole Filesystem. Does anyone know where the Templates are located?

  • Can't find ical in time machine

If i'm in ical and turn on time machine, tm goes to my finder window. Several discussions suggest going into libraries in tm but ical is missing from my libraries.

if you restore that whole folder it will override you current ical data and replace it with what it was at the backup time. an alternative is to locate and restore just the event you want in the backup. it would be in a calenar folder/events inside the Calendars folder. it's an .ics file. you can quicklook them from TM interface to see which one you want to restore. once the .ics file is restored drop it onto ical.

  • Can't find iCal URL after my hard drive died!

So after buying a brand new iMac G5 in November, only to hear my hard drive fail on Monday, I bought a new MacBook Pro today.
Only now, I've lost the URL to my published iCal.
I've entered the path ical.mac.com/username/calendar to no avail. Any tips?
    Thanks in advance,

    Andrew,
The address should be: http://ical.mac.com/yourusername/Calendarname, or webcal://ical.mac.com/yourusername/Calendarname.ics.

  • How can I find the URL for an iCal calendar in iCloud so I can make a link to it on a web page.

I have a single iCal calendar that I want people to access through my webpage.  How can I find the URL so that they can view the calendar without having to subscribe to it.  I converted to iCloud from .Mac and I can see that changes to this calendar are not showing up.

Mmmh.. i see... I don't know wether it is possible for people just check calendars without subscribing to them... I have been sharing some calendars in my website (maybe you can have a look at it in order to check wether it could be a possible solution for you)

UPDATE: I had 36 Safari windows open and minimized on the dock from my last session; 20 of those windows failed to open b/c Safari "couldn't find the server"; I just went to the URL bar of all 20 pages and clicked return, and all 20 pages loaded perfectly, without dropping any images or losing formatting. This is a puzzle!!!

  • How to delete previous invitee from apple iCal invite list? When inviting "Joe" an old Email address shows up. This person is literally dead! (may he rest peacefull) and I can't find his Email address to delete anywhere. Not in my address book

When sending calendar invite to "invitee" an old address appears. This guy is literally dead (may he rest in peace) and has same first name as person I send to all the time. So "dead" guy always pops up. Can't find his address to delete anywhere -- not in previous recipients, not in my address book, does not "auto-populate" when I try to send an Email. Still shows up everytime I want to send iCal invite. Spooky. Help me delete this guy from my iCal invitee options so he can truly rest in peace. Thanks!

  • HT2513 I have an iCal calendar downloaded and I can't find it in any calendar listings. I've read the above article, but I can't even find my iCal window (don't know where my applications folder or dock is and a search of the iPhone turns up nothing)...

I can't find my iCal window to try to get rid of this iCal calendar I downloaded, but want to delete. I can't seem to find the applications folder or dock that I've heard the iCal window is in. A search of the iPhone won't turn either up. Can someone please help?

have you tried rebooting your computer?

    Hey Shady K,
It sounds like you've removed the iCal and Widget icons from your dock and want to get the back there for easy access. The following document goes over dock basics and there's a section (which I copied below) that goes over how to get those icons back on to the dock. Essentially you'll just find the application's icon in your applications folder and drag it back.
    Mac Basics: The Dock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2474
    Adding and removing Dock items
If you want to add an application to the Dock, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock and drag the application icon to the Dock; the icons in the Dock will move aside to make room for the new one. If you want to add a file or folder to the Dock, just drag its icon from any Finder window (or the desktop) and drop it on the Dock. The resulting icon that appears in the Dock is actually an alias of the original item (it's kind of a pointer to your original item). If you drag an application or file onto the Dock, you'll be able to open it anytime by simply clicking its docked icon. If you drag a folder onto the Dock, a Finder window of the folder's contents will display when you click the folder icon in the Dock.
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon an inch or more off the Dock and wait a couple seconds, then release; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. There are some icons that you can't remove from the Dock, such as the Trash and the Finder.
Don't worry, you aren't permanently removing the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back in the Dock, locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder (or with Spotlight), and drag it back into the Dock.
    Hope that helps,
    David

  • Where can I find missing calendars in iCal?

I shut down my computer a couple of days ago, and when I restarted, my iCal showed only events listed under the default "home" and "work" calendars. I can't find any record of the several other calendars I had going ("classes," "meetings," etc.) Where has this data gone? I also see no record of any of my "to do" entries. Basically everything that wasn't under the default is gone. What do I do?

    Salewski,
What calendars are displayed on your CalDav account? I have not used that service and am wondering if any of your data is retained on that server.
What folders do you have in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder?
There are two kinds of computer users: Those who have lost data and those who will.
Backups are an important part of data retention. TimeMachine for example can retain hourly/daily/weekly backups. It is included with Snow Leopard, but requires an external hard drive. You can also use other backup software such as SuperDuper, or Carbon Copy Cloner to provide you with a bootable backup. There is also a Backup application provided with a MobileMe subscription which can provide offsite backups.
it seems like iCal isn't a safe place to store important information if you need to back it up every time you shut down, right?
If you are not using any other forms of backup, I would have to agree with that statement, but this is what Apple says: "You should perform regular backups of your system and keep multiple backups of important, irreplaceable files. Without multiple backup copies of your files, your files do not exist anywhere except on your Mac."
For future reference check out the backup recommendations in this link.
