Can't find init file for Database

Hi,
I just installed 9i R2 on Redhat 7.3 and when I create a database with dbca, the db is created and up running fine. However, when I shut the db down and try to restart it, it says 'Can't find init file for Database "db_name"'. Anyone got any ideas?

While connected as sysdba issue :
CREATE PFILE FROM SPFILE;
--This creates an initSID.ora file under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs.
You can edit this file to modify any init parameters.
To have the effect this these new parameters startup the database with:
STARTUP PFILE=$ORACLE_HOME/initSID.ora.
To create spfile with the modified values use:
CREATE SPFIL FROM PFILE;
Once you create the SPFILE and when you start the db, SPFILE will be used.

For some reason itunes can't find original file for music. If I have purchased from Itunes do I have to re-purchase?

I keep losing music from my library because "itunes cannot locate original file". Why does my computer lose this? If I have purchased in itunes, can I copy again for free? how? Thanks.

If you are losing music which can mean the database in iTunes is not stable. Maybe you should do under File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate Files.
Thanks and I did find the link, it now states that they have been downloaded but how do I copy thise files into my itunes or how does my itunes find those files? Again thank you for your help
Downloaded means you already have it in iTunes. If you've deleted them then you will see a cloud symbol. Click the cloud symbol and it will download into iTunes. (iCloud is your backup for all your purchased items)

HELP - iMac can't find system file for start-up

Hi,
My Rev. B iMac (running OS 9.2) suddenly can't find the system file. I was working in MS Word for Mac when the system crashed. Upon start-up the computer couldn't find the system and showed a flashing question mark in an old floppy disk icon.
I started from my original OS 8.5 Install disk and ran disk utilities. That fixed a problem that was detected.
BUT the flashing disk continued at start-up.
I tried to "re-bless" the system folder as described in the Apple iMac trouble shooting guide, but no luck.
All my data is still on the hard drive, I just can't get the machine to start from the hard drive -- it will only start from the Install CD.
Any ideas on how I can get it to start up?
I really don't want to reinstall OS 8.5 and then go through the upgrade to get back to OS 9.2 again if I don't have to!

Installing OS 8.5 is not needed, since there is no update available to take any version of OS 8 to any version of OS 9. An OS 9 install must start with a full-install CD; for your model, that means any retail OS 9 Install CD (white label, gold 9).
What version of OS 9 was on the hard drive - OS 9.2.1, or OS 9.2.2?
What version OS 9 Install CD do you have available?

Il vous faut le module LAbVIEW PDA pour avoir accés à ces foncitons(ci-joint le lien). Sino, vous pouvez créer votre propre driver.

i can't find the source file for newsservice.NewsServiceProxy in JMS Web Service. The
newsservice.NewsServiceProxy is required for client to post news to server and received news from server. But
i can't find where the file located in the newsservices.jar provided in that tutorial.

You will have to generate this file. The steps to generate this file has been provided in the Install file present under NewsService/doc/Install.html (once newsservice.jar is extracted) - Running the NewsService client application section - Step 1.
Follow the instructions, and you will be able to download the zip/jar file which contains newsservice.NewsServiceProxy within it.

Can't find .udc files for Indesing CS4

I've tried to change the spelling/dictionary settings but I can't find the .udc files on my system? Can it be downloaded from somewhere?

The dictionary settings in the preferences have nothing to do with the default language. The let you choose which vendor, if there is more than one, to use for the dictionary.
To set the default language use the language drop-down in the character panel. Do this with no docs open and it will be the default for all new work. In existing documents change it with nothing selected to make it the new document default, and select all the text and change it onece more to assign the language to what you've already set.

Windows 8.1 Preview cannot be uninstalled. However, if what you want is to remove Windows completely, start up in OS X, open Boot Camp Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities) and follow the steps to remove the Windows partition.

I Can't find ppd file for HP LaserJet M1120 MP in my MAC OS 10.5

I can not find a PPD driver for HP LaserJet M1120 when I add the printer in my MAC, I have tried to use other PPD drivers, for 1220, 1200, and tryied to use generic laserjet driver etc. Almost tried all PPD drivers on the list...
I hope someone could have some hints on what PPD driver to use, or have a PPD driver for LaserJet M1120

I do see the share printer, so it works to "add it as a new" printer, but it do not automatically detect correct drivers som I am trying different drivers, but it do not work. As said, I do see the printjob come up on the printerqueue on the PC.
Then I saw below on sourceforge.net, regarding gutenprint drivers for this printer, seems that there are non gutenprint drivers, and probably not in the future either..
I am also in contact with HP support, but they are really useless in providing help/support...
So a bit tired on this!. Thank you for your hints and tips!

The Gutenprint drivers do not support this device. There are Mac OS X drivers on the HP website.
This printer seems to use a host based driver with JBIG based on what I can find in the software technical reference for the product. It is doubtful that Gutenprint will ever support this printer.

Where can I find the files for my custom amp presets?

I've gone through and created a tonne of custom amp presets in Garageband that I would like to manually backup. Does anyone know where these files are kept by Garageband?
I have located the presets that come with Garageband in Library / Application Support / GarageBand / Instrument Library / Track Settings / Real / Guitar Track
I need to find where all my tweaked presets are saved!

your own Track Settings are kept in your User Library in your Home Folder:
/Users/your user name/Library/Application Support/GarageBand
If you are using MacOS X 10.7 or later, your user library is hidden; probably that is why you did not find the files.
To reveal your user library in the Finder use the Finder's "Go" menu: Click "Go" in the main Finder menu bar, then hold down the "Alt/Options" key ⌥, until "Library" appears in the drop-down menu. Click "Library" to reveal it in the Finder and select the "Applications Support" folder, then the "GarageBand" folder. This will contain all your custom Instruments.

Where can I find log files for users logging into network homes?

We're running an open directory master and are using AFP on another server to host our network homes. I was asked to find a log of users logged into their network homes on a specific date and I'm starting to wonder if that's actually a log that exists. I've checked the OD logs and in one of the password logs I can see users have authenticated but it doesn't say specifically to what (so it just lists they logged into something). The AFP logs just show specific files being accessed without usernames. So what am I missing? What log would I check?

File Zilla is a dedicated ftp client that you use to upload your published web site to your server.
I would suggest that you perhaps consider using Cyberduck instead as this might be easier. Cyberduck is a dedicated ftp client in the same way that File Zilla is.
To be able to upload what you need is your published website. Open iWeb and select the site that you want to publish and then select publish to a local folder and your site will then be published to your desktop. You then upload this to your server using Cyberduck or File Zilla.

I been searching for over a year for the .lso for the Motifi XF, can anybody direct me by link where I can find them please? I see them everywhere for Motif XS, but the XF is different.

Garageband can't find audio files for each instrument

Every time I try and load a software instrument I get a message that says the wav or aiff file can't be found. It asks me if I want to search again but it doesn't let me search manually. Where are these files?

Thats weird. I can understand getting that message if you are trying to load a 'blue' audio loop, but not a 'green' software instrument.
The audio loops on my machine are in two places
1. Machintosh HD>Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Apple>Apple Loops for GarageBand AND JamPack 4 Synphony Orchestra.
2. Machintosh HD>Library>Application Support>GarageBand>AppleLoops>JamPack 2 & 3.
If you have not loaded any JamPacks or 3rd party loops and are just using the standard loops that come with GB then option 1 will be where your want to have a look.
