Can't find iweb

I am looking for iWeb on my MacBook.  Is it currently available?  Please advise.

Your unique question is asked on a daily basis on this forum.  Suggest that next time, you do a forum search before posting.
Otherwise the answer is the same as Roddy's - go to the Apple store online and purchase the iLife 11 boxed set that contains both iWeb 09 and iDVD or go and look on Amazon and you might get a copy more cheaply and then just install both iWeb and iDVD onto your machine in the normal way.

iWeb was discontinued about 2 years or so ago; you can still find it if you want to buy a retail version of the iLife 09 suite available at online resellers and ebay.

  • How can I find iweb domain files?

Hi everyone.  I'm in a bit of a state!  I built a fairlybig website with iweb 1 - http://www.lakesweddingmusic.com - on my old Macbook (10.4.11) which died a few months ago.  I now have a Macbook Pro(10.8.2) and have imported iweb 3.0.2 (I think that's the version) from an iLife '11 disc, along with iDVD.  I tried the newly imported iweb 3 and it worked well. However, my mistake was to test it out:  I opened a new file from a template and called it 'blank'. Now I want to get rid of this test file and load up my already created website -lakesweddingmusic.com.  However, now that I've traced my old Domain files on my old Mac's hardrive, which fortunately, was left intact after the rest of the computer died, I can't get rid of this test file I created.  My problem is I can't find the new domain file that I created in order to test out iWeb 3.  If I delete the file in iWeb, iWeb won't close and neither will the mac Pro close, unless I do a 'start button shut down', which seems to be the only way to close iWeb when there are no files in it.  Then , when I reboot and open iweb, up comes the test file which I deleted!  So it's got to be somewhere on my new Mac.  I've searched Users/Me/Library/Application Support - but the only iweb folder there is the one I created which houses the Domain file which I copied from my old Macbook hard drive!  I've tried searching for 'domain' but only get the file with my website on it.  I simp[ly cannot find or get rid of this new file.  Any suggestions as to where it might be hiding would be most welcome.

In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • I can't find iweb in finder

I paid the 99 bucks and used iweb once in feburary. I wanted to unsubscribe but can't find ilife 08 in finder. Will I be automatically charged for iweb? How can I unsubscribe.? I don't use it. I can see iphoto and itunes. Should I reinstall ilife?

If you paid $99 to subscribe to something, that was presumably MobileMe, not iWeb. Support for MobileMe is here:

  • Where can i find iweb

We have been using iWeb for our family business for site development and maintenance. Lately, we bought new iMacs for our offices and we suddenly realized we cannot buy iWeb from apple anymore. It is nowhere to be found!!! Our site is useless now!!! Why? What happened. Where can i find the iWeb program? Please, help!

First of all, thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately, the iweb program was only installed on this one device which got stolen. We have backup discs of the site itself but nothing that contains any iweb (dmg) file, so as to transfer it to the other computers. As to the old installation disc - i believe it is long gone, so it cannot be done.
I am sorry that my ignorance annoys you, but I cannot help you there. I visited this forum, searched it with "iWeb" as a key word and i landed here, so.......
I understand i probably didn't do it right, but if i were a pro I probably wouldn't be needing your help now, would I?
I'll do a search again through the forum, but meanwhile my question remains: "where can i find/get/buy/etc. iweb"?
P.S. I tried to find it on the app store - i might have messed up there too - but it isn't there.

  • Can i find iWeb '09 (the programm itself) somewhere. It seems Apple doesn't sell it nomore?

I publish my professional site with iWeb '08 (the DNS is elsewhere, the content is on mobileme).
Now, since mobile is going down, I want the content on the DNS-server (or the servers from the party where my DomaineName is registered)
I can't do it with iWeb '08: it only can publish to mobileme.
It seems that this is possible with iWeb '09 (to publish it on any server) but i can't find the programm anymore.
Has Apple removed this from it's store?
Is it any where else for download available?
    Thanks!
    Peter.

You will need to purchase a box set of iLife '09 or '11 you need the actual DVD in order to install the latest version of iWeb
    iLife '11 [OLD VERSION]
    iLife '09 [OLD VERSION]

  • Can't find iweb file created in iWeb 06?

I just uploaded the iLife 08. When I open iWeb my previous work was missing.
where oh where has it gone? If I go the the internet address it is there but the new iWeb wants me to create a brand new site. I realize that I must re-publish my previous work but I can't find it. any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forums!
PDF files are not editable. It sounds like you need the original PowerPoint files, and not the PDF versions that were created from them.

  • Can't find iWeb on macbook pro

hi.  new to this so please be patient.
just purchased a new macbook pro 15, running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74).
want to design a website but cannot find iweb.  looked on apple website which took me to app store and ilife.  i have imovie, iphoto and garageband so i assume this is the full package but I cant find iweb icon :-(  what am I doing wrong.  typed iweb in finder but not found.
    please help.

iWeb had been discontinued.  While you could still find it on retail iLife discs, there's little point in starting a new project using something that is no longer being developed.  What is your skill level at web design?  If you want something similar to iWeb, that does not require a high degree of expertise, you could try RapidWeaver.

  • Can't find iWeb under Application Support and

therefore can't find my DOMAIN file to copy it and back it up. I've used Spotlight, but to no avail.
    HELP!!!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If the Pref Setter approach isn't helpful (it should pinpoint the location) a search application that will search where Spotlight won't isFind File. A tad slower than Spotlight but searches "everywhere".

  • Clean install and can't find iWeb files

Apple techs helped me do a clean install after a remote hacker incident ... the talked me through the moving my data etc. I find some 4 yr old  iWeb files and I have reinstalled iWeb - but I do not know how to "open" the old files - it looks like it's an original version of the old website I created. I have no recollection what information I need (or how to) get the structure back onto the website. I always saved a backup of whatever I published, but now see nothing with newer dates.
I need help to connect iWeb and my website. I feel like an idiot!
    Thanks!

If you have a domain file with your site in it you can do the following:

NOTE:  with the Sandbox/Gatekeeper of Mavericks you may have to go to the System/Security and Privacy preference pane to be able to launch the iWeb Switch Domain application:
HOWEVER, if you don't have a domain file with the site files in it you'll have to start over from scratch.  In that event, it would be wise to follow Ethmoid's suggestion and migrate to another application like EverWeb, etc.

  • Please Help! Can't Find iWeb Domain File!

Hi! Need to know if I'm jacked up or if a miracle can occur!
I created a website in December using iWeb. Site was published and everything was fine. When I went to update it yesterday, it no longer shows up in iWeb! All of the supporting files are on my iDisk in the Web/Sites folder. However, when I searched for the domain in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb files and double-clicked it, a different site that I was training on opens up. The training site's supporting files are in their own folder on iDisk. Also, the training site was named differently than my published site. I did a search for all domains and opened them, but none are my published site.
Is there a way to get back the domain file or do I have to recreate the site again?
    Any help is appreciated--thanks!

Roxanne, when I do a search via spotlight mine doesn't show up either. Your domain.sites2 file is likely seen as a system file. Have you done a search via finder for a filename 'domain' that is of the kind 'system'?
If not, then do this. From finder, select command+F. When the finder window opens, search 'this mac'. Click on the 'kind' button, and if it is available select 'system files'. If that is not an option, then at the bottom of the list select 'other'. That will open up a new menu of items to include under your search items. Scroll down until you find 'System files'. Select the check box to the right of 'System files' so that they will show up in your search results.
When you go back to your search window you will now be able to search for files with the name 'domain' in them. Select 'System Files' in the 'kind' drop down menu, and then make sure you select 'ARE INCLUDED' in drop down menu right next to where it shows 'system files'.
If you'd like, click on this link for a screen shot of my finder set up to search for a system file with name domain.
I hope it turns up for you!

  • Where can I find iWeb's stock files?

Hello! I was wondering where I can find the stock photo files that are put as placeholders in iPhoto's themes. I was wanting to use them outside of iWeb, and can't seem to locate them!
Thanks for you help. God Bless!

    Copy this line :
    /Applications/iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Themes
Then, in the Finder do Command-Shift-G.
Paste the line and hit return.
Right-click the theme of your choice and choose Show Package content.
    Open the Shared folder.

  • I can't find iweb folder in application support

    Hi
I formatted my macbook. Before format I back up domain.sites2.
Now I want to import domain.sites2 to new macbook (I mean formatted macbook)
I read forums and I saw that I have to copy+ paste this file to  library/application support/iweb
But there is no iweb folder in application support.
I double clicked domain.sites2 while located in desktop; İweb opened but I can't see my older pages.
    Please help me

Leave the old domain file in the iWeb folder and use the following app to see if it will let you open that particular domain file.
To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script"/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"
    delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
Due to Sandboxing by the operating system you may get a message that the app can't be opened because it's from an unregistered developer. In that case you can Control (right) - click on the app and select Open from the contextual menu OR create your own app from the code above using Applescript Editor.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

For Mavericks, 10.9 ,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
You only need to run the app once or if you want to open a different domain file.
