Can't find mail backup folder

Mac OS X 10.7.4, Macbook Air, Mail version 5.2 (1278), belongs to a friend who wants me to help setup regular backups for her emails.
There's no content in the correct place. ~Library/Mail/ contains one folder only, called AccountTypes, which is empty.
I have done searches (Spotlight: webarchive, signatures, V2, maildata etc) and have hunted through mail preferences to try to get a clue of the location of the Mail folder which contains all of the data, however no joy.
If someone has changed this location for her, how can I find it back????
There are heaps of emails in her account so the data must be somewhere on her HD.

I've just bought an iMAC 10.7.4. I'm trying to move mail to it from snow leopard - 10.6.?(can't remember)
I've done this loads of times for snow leopard machines. Can't get it to work on new iMAC 10.7.4
I'm opening the right library ~ option- finder go opening the user library
Drag and drop mail folders ~ Mail, Mail (default) and mail downloads
Preferences - i've dropped the "com.apple.mail.plist" file. (Interestingly the new iMAC 10.7.4 has another mail plist file called "com.apple.mail.plist.lockfile") I've left it there.
Normally (in 10.6) when the mail folders have been moved across along with the "com.apple.mail.plist" preference file - all i have to do is launch mail and all the mail accounts are there as if it was the same machine.
But it's not happening on the iMAC 10.7.4
Any ideas as to what i need to do ?

When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. I found the answer to my question.
When you attach a device (iPhone, iPad) to your Mac, in iTunes 12 in appears as a tiny icon in the second "row" of the iTunes display. Click the icon and the familiar iTunes display for the device appears. From there, on the Summary screen, you can see the dates of the backups of the device (iCloud and backup to the computer). You can also use the button to backup to the computer.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

First you'll need to make sure your XP is set up to view hidden files and folders.
1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
5. Click OK.

I can't find my backups on my external hard drive

Windows 7 recognizes my external hard drive, and "Backup & Restore" records that backups are being done on schedule, but I can't find the backups on the external drive, or create a folder on that drive where the backups are saved. Any suggestions?

In the meantime I'm a little unclear about the question. Whether you select your Drive F, which located on your external hard disk, to save the backup in your backup schedule? please check if there is a folder named WindowsImageBackup on your external drive.
Backup should be stored in this folder. You can try to run your schedule manually to see if a backup will be created, or if any error occurs actually.

Time machine can't find older backups

Hi guys,
I am experiencing issues with Time machine, which can't find older backups after clean install of OS X Yosemite 10.10 to my MacBook Pro 17 early 2011 model.
Important to say, I am using NAS Synology DS213j as my Time Machine backup disk.
When opening Time Machine window, I am getting only one restore date (actual date) even my TM folder contains backups since February 2014.
Curious thing is, that Migration Assistant utility can access the data when restoring my old profile.
Can anyone please advise what's wrong?

Even weirder -- the problem I described above happens only with certain windows. WIth others, I can open the earlier backups.

Can't find my backup???

I've backed up my friend's iPhone 4 iOS 4.3 with iTunes on my desktop PC. Then restored to iOS 6.0 on my laptop successfully. After restoring I plugged iphone to my desktop PC. And can't find previous backup. Then I checked the backup folder, here is located my friend's phone's backup almost 2.55GB. What should I do?

Setup the phone as a "New iPhone", don't bother synching anything.
Update software with Settings > General > Software Update
Reset the device with Settings > Reset > Reset All Settings
Setup the phone again, this time your iCloud backup should show up.
This really saved me alot of time. The Sprint tech told me to go home and hook up phone to the itunes, which would of took longer. All my apps are starting to show up on my phone same screen saver that I had on my old iphone 4s which was defective. Thanks again for all of your help.

Enter ~/Library
And select Go.
Your contents will now be visible.

Itunes can't find my music folder

I can't install Itunes....it downloads fine from the exe file but when i try to open itunes it gives me the error msg that it can't find My Music folder. I went to the support page and it told me that if i couldn't find My Music folder to create one in My documents and download/install Tweak UI. I did and followed all the steps except when it asks me to click on My computer, then special folder and can't find the My Music folder to move it. I am using Windows XP....Please help. Has anyone ever had this problems?

it's stupid, you have to hold down the shift key while you open iTunes (don't just hold it while you click, keep holding it until iTunes actually shows the library dialog).

FreeSpace cost $1 or is a free utility that checks HD space.
SpaceControl is a free utility that checks HD space.

Where iTunes backups are stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data are stored varies depending on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your periodic data-backup routine.
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press the Return key.

It looks like that the installation process of one of the applications have caused some trouble. One of them may have changed or added kext files.
For that, the Window server crashed if you try to open a non Apple application like Firefox
Start the system in safe mode by holding the shift key on power on.
If save mode is reached, perform a permissions repair with the Disk Utility.
Don't bother about upcoming warnings like "could not repair file xy" as that occur cause you use the tool on a running system and opened files can not get touched by the tool.
After repair is done reboot system to normal and try to open Firefox.
If the problem persits, please report back here.

It's not entirely clear to me, but I assume that you are trying to copy photos from the iPad to your computer (as opposed to syncing photos from your computer to the iPad), possibly using the windows camera wizard ? If so then the message is saying that it can't find a folder called 'New folder' on your computer which is presumably where it copied the last set of photos to (?). I don't use the wizard to copy the photos from iPad (I do it manually via windows explorer) so I don't know how it works, but aren't you able to tell it to copy the photos to a different folder on your computer other than one called 'new folder' ? This page gives basic info for copying photos from the iPad to your computer http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 (it is not done via iTunes).
If you want to copy photos to the iPad from your computer then there are instructions on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236 - that is done via iTunes using the Photos tab on the right-hand side of iTunes when you've selected the iPad on the left-hand side of it

In Acrobat pro 9, I can't find staple and fold options for booklets and no matter what options I choose in the print dialogue my booklet ends up with pages upside down and out of order? I am working on a Macbook pro running OS X 10.9.4. Our printers are fully capable for booklets with staples and folds. Would love some help. Thank you!

the specific page that has downloads of your products.    As far as the
alternate source is concerned I am not totally sure what the capabilities it has as
I am recovering from a hospital stay and had to send my wife to retailer to
pick this up because I am accessing email from home until I return to work and
need something to work now. I don't yet have the SW. (I would have had her
buy the actual Adobe Pro 9.0 -- but it is a wapping $499 and change).
