Can't find mp4 file after changing media kind setting to podcast

I recently imported some home videos into iTunes.  The default "media kind" is movies so I changed to podcast b/c I didn't want to mix home videos with movies when surfing through lists on my Apple TV.  After chaning the media kind setting now I can't find the file in iTunes.  Any idea on how I can update the media kind info so I can see the file again in iTunes on my Windows PC?

maybe the features of the usb port is controlled by the routers setup page most routers have some ip address you type into a browser and login to the router to set them up try that
because some routers have usb for external hd some for printers some only for firmware updates (like the Apple TV (which of cause are not routers but have usb connector for the sole purpose of upgrading a crashed firmware))

  • Can't find some files after changing drive name

I keep all my music files on an external drive, and my iTunes folder (and iTunes Music folder) on the internal drive. After changing the name of the external drive, a good number of files (not all, and probably not even most, but a lot) couldn't be found by iTunes.
I'm suspecting that this problem results from having my files stored externally and separate from the internal default iTunes Music folder, but I'm hoping someone can give me some more details about this and hopefully help find a solution. Thanks.

In the root of the filesystem there normally is a folder "lost+found", in which files with strange names are found. These are the files cvfsck has collected in the recovering of the filesystemnames. It is sometimes not possible to recover the original file name and location. So this is the only way for cvfsck to give them back.
If you think the content of these files is allright, you can rename and relocate them.

  • HT4796 I can't find the files after complete!! help

Hi, I followed the directions several times to transfer my PC files to my new MackBook Pro....says complete...but I can't find the files...any idea what I did wrong? Thanks!

Check your user accounts to see if Windows created a new one. I've read it does when migrating. Check for the files in that account, if it did create a new one.

  • Email can't find iphoto files after downl new firmware mbp 17"

If I want to send pictures by mail he want open the iphoto files
Movies or music is no problem
I'm sure before the new firmware everything was fine
    Does someone have this problem?
    Can somebody help me?

With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Where can i find the files after backing-up in itunes? i'm using windows 7. thanks!

i cant locate my back-up files after running a back-up in itunes. please help.

Okay...I have some more information and perhaps we are getting closer.  On the 250GB, first I went into that disk and used Disk Utilty to re-format it once using Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then a second time, zeroing it out. I did a screen shot to review if needed, and both times it looked perfect...249GB available.  Then I went into the Time Machine preferences to get ready to backup again, and it had not excluded the other external 120GB with iTunes so I excluded it. I may has previously, never noticed in that screen that it takes a bit of time for it to calculate the information to save.  I may have just clicked on it quickly without reviewing it first.  Today I did, and gave it time to calculate.  At one point the actual 250GB itself, showed up and I excluded it too like the 120GB.  After it finished, the calculations are still it wrong - claiming it has a 200GB backup when the iMac either contains 150GB (based on when I do Get Info) on it or from OmniDisk which calculated about 100GB.  I have not allowed Time Machine to do a backup yet, until this discrepancy can be clear.
One thing that I thought I had seen or reviewed previous on the Time Machine settings was my home folder - I could be wrong but wanted to mention that.  Another little tidbit to ponder an well is that I have a files of icons that I use for the Hard Disks, and a few folders where I Get Info on the Icon and on the destination and just cut and paste.  I did that today to the 250GB after zeroing, but while I was in the Time Machine settings the change was deleted and neither the manufactures icon was there nor mine, and it has the default blue-green one the software uses.  I know, because my sister's is that way on her system-unchanged.
    Feedback?

  • Can't find original files after uploading photos through iPhoto

I'm a recent "convert," and yesterday I uploaded some pictures directly through iPhoto for the first time. Then I tried to log onto Facebook to create a photo album and couldn't find the original photos in my "Pictures" file or anywhere else. I found I could access the "iPhoto Library" option but it distorted my photos by zooming in on the faces of people in the picture!
    Where are my original files?

iPhoto used to place the photos in a standard directory "iPhoto Library" but this has now become a package, which hides access to the contents--just like in many applications--to keep you from rearranging them. You (or I) cannot directly access the contents but the "package" is just a specially marked directory. If you know a filename of one of the pictures or albums then you can search for that and it will find the file/photo. Then you have access to the directory and can go up, down, or over. It uses the same names in several of them.
The head shots you are seeing may be the "Faces" feature of the new iPhoto. They will be in a separate directory, as well as directories for original, modified, and others. Interesting, it did not find the photo names on the backup disk. Differing degrees of hiddenness? You can get there with Terminal. This is what I found in mine--notice the thumbnails used in album views:
    2001 Dir.data Thumb64Segment.data
    2002 Library.data ThumbJPGSegment.data
    2003 Library.iPhoto face.db
    2004 Library6.iPhoto face_blob.db
    2005 Library6.iPhoto.bak iPhoto Selection
    2006 Metadata Backup iPhoto.ipspot
    AlbumData.xml Modified iPhotoAux.db
    AlbumData2.xml Originals iPhotoLock.data
    Auto Import Roll 249 iPhotoMain.db
    Data Roll 251
    Data.noindex ThemeCache
Your best bet is to select the photos you want and export them where you can have the JPEGs.
After import, I export so I can use shootShifter to adjust the names to be their exposure dates in yymmdd hrmise format. (You did set the camera's date.)

  • Viewing Podcast Descriptions on iPod Classic after Changing Media Kind to Podcast

    Hi,
I have spoken word mp3 episodes as Media Kind: Music that I want to listen to on my iPod Classic 120 GB as Podcasts mainly because I want to be able to view the episode description of each to see the content while choosing which to listen to.
I have all the meta data entered, including the Description, for each episode, and in iTunes 11.0.1 OS X, I change the Media Kind: from Music to Podcast. The episodes go into the Podcast Menu fine and I can see the Description for each episode in iTunes.
However, when I sync my iPod and the Podcasts sync successfully to the device, each of these episodes is treated by the iPod as music in that when I press the center button to cycle through to the Description, the cycle sequence is like it is Music and the Description is not shown--it goes from Rating to the main screen and skips the Description.
Does anyone know if this is an iTunes or an iPod Classic issue, or if I (likely) am just missing something simple to be able to view the Descriptions.
I can get the Podcasts published successfully with the descriptions shown on the iPod using Typecast, but I have descriptions entered for a couple of dozen episodes already and I didn't want to have to do it all again if there was a simple fix.
    Thanks!!

The information you refer to is carried in the feed, not embedded into the media file, so the only way of keeping it is by entering it into the 'Comments' tag yourself in the Info pane. Unfortunately you can't copy the text you see when you click the 'i' button, so you would either have to type it all in manually or download the feed and extract the text from there.

  • Track inaccessible on iPod after changing "Media Kind" to "podcast"

I had downloaded some mp3 of an NPR piece, which was on my 5th generation iPod Nano as a music track. In iTunes, under "Music" under my iPod, I clicked "Get Info" on the track, went to the options tab, and changed the "Media Kind" to "Podcast". The track immediately disappeared. I now have no way to access it! It's not listed under Music or under Podcasts, either through iTunes or on the iPod itself after I eject it.
I thought maybe the file was somehow deleted off the iPod. I decided to test this by first noting the capacity that iTunes shows for my iPod -- 7.12 GB audio, 145.7 MB other, 91.1 MB free. Then I picked an MPEG song file that I didn't particularly care about on my iPod, and changed the "Media Kind" from "Music" to "Podcast". Again, it disappeared. The capacity numbers didn't change.
This seems really bad: my iPod is now burdened with at least two sound files that I cannot access, even to delete!
I am using "manually manage music and videos" on this iPod and I would really like to avoid wiping the iPod of the exact set of songs I like on it!

I'm having the exact same problem.
Latest software on all devices (Mac).

  • Logic Can't Find Audio Files After a Time Machine Restore

My hard drive crashed so I was forced to restore by using Time Machine. Now when I open some of my old projects they cannot find certain Audio FIles. These Audio Files seem to be files not ordinarily found in the Audio Files Folder inside the project folder, these files have the same names as the "Undo Data" Folders. These files are not physically there when I search the older backups in Time Machine. Im assuming that these are Virtual files created by Logic within the Undo Data. How do I get them to become recognized again???
    Please Help!

"audiofile.caf" means an audio file (surprise!) in Core Audio Format. IOW, a generic term for anything you might like to deal with in Logic. The implication is that it thinks you want to do something with a file (it understands you are attempting a drag-&-drop operation), but it doesn't know anything about the file — not even its name.
There are other ways to get audio files into your arrangement, so you should try those ( e.g.: +Audio > Import Audio File+ ). Drag-&-drop is just one method; the others are equally good, & if they work, we can take it from there. Meanwhile — you are sure you are dragging the actual file, & not an alias? Or some other 'not-the-actual-file' type thing?

  • Can't find project files after upgrade to version 3.0

I upgraded Aperture from 2.0 to 3.x and I can no longer find my project files in the Aperture folder?
All is working fine, I just want to copy the project files and they are not visible in finder.
    any ideas

I misunderstood your question. As you were referring to the Aperture folder and locating things in the finder I thought you were trying to find the image files external to Aperture.
As for info on the structure of the library, from within Aperture take a look at the user manual:  http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/   this is the online version its the same as what you get when you go to Help in Aperture. Pay particular attention to the first section which describes the various parts of the library and how it all goes together.
As for rating answers, if the thread is yours and you are logged in then eash seperate post should show this
at the bottom. Select the rating you want to give to the post. Remember only one post can be correct up to two can be helpful.
    regards
Not sure what you mean by  maintain files in a "creation date" format?  If you describe what you are looking for then I'm sure someone will chime in.

  • Can't find imported files after crash

I'm using FCPX with a Macbook Pro 15" (2.8 GHz Intel Core i7). I've been importing old video on mini DV media for the past few weeks. Today FCP crashed during import. None of the material was in the project after reopening. So I imported again. Same thing happened. After a 3rd attempt to import failed, I noticed that my hard drive space was significantly reduced. I assume the imported material is on my hard drive, but I can't locate it. Does anyone have an idea where it might be found?

  • Can't find .msi file after 1.4.2.05 install

I'm looking for the .msi file to do a remote installation of java through Active Directory but I cannot find it. The java documentation says that it should reside in the "Application Data"\{-long-number-} directory, but this directory is not present after installation.
I've tried installing in both local accounts and domain accounts, I've tried searching for the file during installation.. the file (or directory) just isn't there.
Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

Hi guys .. Well, I couldn't see the MSI in the UUID folder - could not even see the UUID folder. Is this before the install completes? (That is, while MS Installer is still holding the install set?) I note that Lagerweij is actually talking about _05 and not _06.

  • Can't find wireless printer after changing router

I have recently changed my router to a Virgin media superhub. This has obviously changed my network details. I had 2 wireless printers running on my old network. ?I have managed to get one working as it has a menu screen on it and it was just a matter of searching for the new network. My second printer, a HP 1102w does not have a menu just buttons. I cannot get my Mac to see it in any of the preference options

maybe the features of the usb port is controlled by the routers setup page most routers have some ip address you type into a browser and login to the router to set them up try that
because some routers have usb for external hd some for printers some only for firmware updates (like the Apple TV (which of cause are not routers but have usb connector for the sole purpose of upgrading a crashed firmware))
