Can't find music I've added to my iPhone 6

I have an iPhone 6 w/iOS 8.1.2 (just updated).  This has been an annoying problem for months--with some music, I add it from iTunes for PC to the iPhone, and the iPhone file on my iTunes for PC (version 12.0.1) shows that it's there, but it's nowhere to be found on my iPhone. Likewise I've got a few music files that I didn't add to the iPhone and iTunes for PC doesn't show as being on the iPhone, but there it is on the iPhone--it plays just fine. (My wife has them on her iPhone but they've never darkened mine.)
I can put the music in a playlist as a workaround but shouldn't have to do that. It's never been a problem previously and I go back to the 3GS days.

It's an iPhone 5, but all the other info is accurate

  • Where can I find music to purchase from the iStore?

    istore  ?
From the iTunes store on your computer, then sync the iPod.

  • Can't find music - any music - on itunes

Can't find music - any music - on itunes. Plenty of apps for iphone, etc. But no music. I know itunes has music. Just no link for it. And no I do NOT mean itunes on my MacBookPro; I'm talking about itunes in the cload.

Then download the media that has been purchased.  This happens automatically when new media is purchased.

  • Can't find most of my songs on my iPhone 5. They only show up on the computer. How do I fix it?

I just updated my software and now I can't seem to locate most of my songs on my iPhone 5. When I'm in the "on this iphone" tab, I can see all of the music I've added to the iphone library. However, when I look on my actual phone none of them are there. The songs missing are a mix of purchased songs from iTunes and songs from CDs. I though originally that it was only the non-purchased songs which were not showing up, but that isn't the case.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Sarah,
It sounds like the songs have either not yet synced over to the iPhone, or something went wrong when attempting to sync to the iPhone. My recommendation is to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox.
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
If the above does not resolve your issue, see the following articles:

  • I am trying to retrieve music that I had from an iPad to my iTunes account. I'm using the same computer for synching my iPhone.  I'm logged into my iPad account, but can't retrieve music. It only recognizes my iPhone.

I am trying to retrieve music that I had from an iPad to my iTunes account. I'm using the same computer for synching my iPhone.  I'm logged into my iPad account, but can't retrieve music. It only recognizes my iPhone.  Does anyone know how I can get my music?  I know longer own the iPad so I don't have access to it, but I don't think that should be a problem.

So you had music on the iPad that is not in iTunes and you no longer have the iPad. Is that what you are saying? If that is what you are saying, iTunes won't "recognize" anything that was on the iPad, that was not purchased from iTunes. If the music was purchased from iTunes, you should probably be able to download it again for free as long as you are using the same Apple ID that you bought it with. Did you try downloading the music again?
Am I understanding what it is that you want to do? If I am understanding you correctly, you will find this to be useful.

I admit that I'm a little confused by your remark about being logged into your iPad account. You should be logged into your iTunes account.

  • Things my WM 6.1 phone did that I can't find a way to do with the iphone

    Hi All iphoners
I have a small list of things that I can't find a way to do with the iphone. I was hoping that someone would be able to help me with this. I know there must be a way to do these but I just have not found it yet.
    here they are:
Play video clips from my favorite news web sites.
search my contacts by just typing the name from anywhere in the contact list
Play music and sounds thru by stereo bluetooth headset
Sync my notes and tasks from outlook
setup different tones and alarms for new e-mail, new SMS, so on
voice announcement of who is calling if the caller is in my contacts
Download document to the phone, word, PDF, so on
Mark all e-mail as read with one button
place call from calendar if phone number is in appointment
Beam files from one phone to another
    Picture mail
Rotate e-mail while ready e-mail. this works for web pagers but not e-mail
    thanks for all the help

depending on who your "favorites" are, they might have an app in the app store which includes videos
search my contacts by just typing the name from anywhere in the contact list
theres a search bar at the top of the contacts list. you type, it searches.
Play music and sounds thru by stereo bluetooth headset
sorry, can only be achieved via devices such as the Sony TMR-BT8iP (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XRW09Y)
setup different tones and alarms for new e-mail, new SMS, so on
all but SMS is not customizable for now. but even with SMS, you can only choose from those available.
voice announcement of who is calling if the caller is in my contacts
my suggestion is to set a particular ringtone for that person. OR, you can always record yourself saying that person's name, convert it to a ringtone, and use that. (if you dont know how to create your own ringtone, a quick search on this forum should help you out).
Download document to the phone, word, PDF, so on
Beam files from one phone to another
look for "Air Share" in the app store.
    Picture mail
it can, you have to do it from the photo, not email tho.
i dont have an answer for the ones i left out. sorry. hope these help.

Don't you just love changes in interfaces?
I found the answer to my question.
When you attach a device (iPhone, iPad) to your Mac, in iTunes 12 in appears as a tiny icon in the second "row" of the iTunes display. Click the icon and the familiar iTunes display for the device appears. From there, on the Summary screen, you can see the dates of the backups of the device (iCloud and backup to the computer). You can also use the button to backup to the computer.

Import it into an iTunes library and then sync the iPhone with that library. If desired, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and create or choose an iTunes library on that drive.

Where can I find a car charger for my new iPhone 5?

I use a power inverter which works great. You can get one that plugs into your car charger for about $30-$50 on Amazon. You just plug it into your car charger and plug the MBP power pack into that.

    Yes.

FYI .. both the iPad and iPhone must be using the same Apple ID in order to transfer iTunes purchases.

Not directly, no. iOS devices must derive their content either directly from Apple, or from a computer.
