Can't find my blog entries in iWeb.

I had just made several days worth of blog entries in iWeb and saved them.
I went to publish them, and now all of my blog entries seem to have disappeared.
All I see is my "About Me" page.  I see no blog entries.
My desktop file does not appear to have been updated with the blog entries either.
I'm hoping my new entries are not lost as I spent hours making them.

The "http://web.mac.com/yourname/" approach only seems to show the very first site I made. Is there any way to list all pages I have made? Without using iweb?
Well, your old page might still be there. Check in
this path:
iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/...
Do you see two folders or one? If you only see one,
then your old pages were probably overwritten. If
you see two folders, then presumably the folder names
represent your old site from the old powerbook and
the new dummy site that you just created. If so,
then you can just point your browser to this address
to access the old website...
http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/oldsite/
The new sites that you publish on your new MBP (I'm
jealous, btw) can be accessed via the usual URL...
http://web.mac.com/yourname/
Unfortunately, even if the folder containing your old
website is on your iDisk, there is currently no way
to get it back into iWeb for editing or revising.
Your only recourse is to recreate the site on your
new MBP. In the future, if you ever move machines
again, just be sure to transfer the "Domain" file
which is located in this path...
Users/yourname/Library/Application
Support/iWeb/Domain
This file is where iWeb keeps everything about the
website that you create. Transferring it to a new
machine enables iWeb to pick up right where it left
off on an old machine.
Of course, I've assumed through this whole message
that you don't have access to this "Domain" file from
your old powerbook, do you? If you do, then you're
in luck!
Good luck!

  • Linking to Adobe PDF on blog entry crashing iWeb

Help! I have been using iWeb to create a website and blog. In a recent blog entry, i linked to an Adobe PDF file on my computer. The link was functioning and working fine, and then I saved the entry and iWeb crashed. I managed to open it back up by sending photos from iPhoto to iWeb. The other pages of the website work fine, and other blog posts also work fine. I tried publishing and the site published. However, in both iWeb and online, the blog post with the linked PDF is now just blank. The PDF works fine on its own and is not corrupted.
I have tried editing the post as well as deleting it in iWeb, but every time I click either button iWeb crashes and gives me an error message. I cannot duplicate the blog post either. This would somehow be okay, but I cannot add a new blog entry in iWeb either (it crashes). other pages are unaffected. I have not attempted deleting the entire blog portion of the website yet. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the malfunctioning blog post besides deleting the whole website and starting from scratch? Bear in mind the back-up of the Domain I saved was after I saved the blog post. Is there a 3rd party app that I can open my Domain in to manually remove the blog entry, or someway to access the code to delete the data that way?

This JUST happened to me as well after linking to a PDF file but now I can't get iWeb to load up, well, it opens and I can see the inspector pane but that is all...the main window is not there and I can't seem to figure out how to get it.
I also noticed a bunch of iWeb stuff in the trash now in a "recovered files" folder.
    Any ideas?

  • Blog entry in iWeb via e-mail?

    Hello,
I have an iWeb blog on MobileMe and wondering if it is possible to add blog entries via e-mail? (This feature would be very handy if one is away from his Mac...)
    Thanks,
    Attila

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you don't have a lot of comments and posts to your current blog I urge you to give careful consideration to what Ethmoid suggests.
The "commercial" blogging sites are so much more robust and versatile and have the capability of being posted to from any computer anywhere and from mobile devices, i.e. smart phones or iPads.
You can design the site to approximate the design of your iWeb site and embed it into a page of your site like in this demo: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page.
In the long run I think you'll be much better off if you can convert now.

  • Adding Blog Entries Without iWeb

Is there anyway to post blog entries without using iWeb. I feel like I already know the answer to this, but I was hoping that there might be some way.

    Check this out:
    http://www.automator.us/iweb/index.html
You can send in blogg-postings via mail/cellphone, and have them automatically appear in iWeb by using the Automator scropts

  • Can I update a blog created in iWeb from another computer?

    Hello Forum,
While I am away from my office base, I would like to update my blog (created using iWeb) from another computer. I have a dotmac account.
I thought doing this should pose no problems, but I simply can't figure it out.....
Hope someone can help me out on this one.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Greg

When you go to .mac and log in, you should see stories there regarding the features of .mac. One of the recent ones (should still be on the front page) is Tech note: Using iWeb on more than one Mac
    Underneath this header, you'll find
"All you need to do is quit iWeb (if it’s open), locate the domain.sites file (Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites), and move it to wherever you’re going to use it. Then double-click the file in its new location. iWeb will launch, and you’re done. From then on, iWeb will automatically save your work in the new location, and you’ll be able to publish your site from any Mac that has access to it.
So, if your domain.sites is small enough to fit on your iDisk, you could keep a copy there and use it from any computer that has iWeb 1.1 or later installed to update your blog.

  • I can't find iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie, or iWeb

I just bought a used iMac G4 with Mac OS X 10.3 Panther on it and it was used badly I gues because all this junk was loaded on it but I can't find a reason why iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie, etc. were not loaded on my Mac.

    Hi,
First of all, Welcome to the  Discussions Forums!
Your post sounds as if you do not have the original disks or a retail copy of Panther 10.3, correct?
The retail Panther disks do have iLife apps included. My set (retail box 10.3.2) came with iLife apps iMovie 3, iPhoto 2, iTunes 4.
When the original owner purchased the iMac G4 it would have had the apps bundled with it. If they are missing now it sounds like the owner deleted them from the disk or did not install them. Originally, I think, iDvD only came on Macs with superdrives.
If you let us know which disks you have, if any, perhaps we can let you know if you can install any of the iLife applications from them.

  • Which holder can I find all the template for iWeb?

I would like to customize the existing iWeb template, but I cannot find where iMac store all those templates. I'd appreciate it very much if someone can tell me which holder iWeb hides its template.
    Thank you.

From within iWeb, just click on Add New Page at the bottom and all page templates are displayed. Choose the one you want and you can then add or take away or do anything you want with it.
If you want your own design entirely, I would suggest that you start with a blank canvas with a white template. Then you can do whatever you want.

  • Can't find address book entries in Entourage after migrating from G4 Tiger

I was able (with some help from these discussion groups) to successfully migrate from G4 Tiger OS to a MacBook Pro. This is my husband's computer and he really needs the address book entries. Interestingly, some did appear, but not all.
I'm not sure where they reside in the files.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

Please post questions regarding Entourage on Microsoft's own forum for their Mac products, as this forum is for troubleshooting Mac OS X and Apple discussions only provide support for Apple products.

  • Retreiving lost blog entry with Time Machine

I was working with a new blog entry, when iWeb suddenly quit unexpectedly. I've never been good at hitting the save button, so all my work was lost.
I do run backup with TM, so thought there might be a slim chance that all was good, but alas...
I find the Domain.sites2 file in TM, but when I hit restore this does not change anything! It does not matter which date I try to restore from... iWeb still looks exactly as I left it last. So there must be something I'm doing wrong. Can anyone enlighten me?
    Tnks!!

to restore a file (or folder) with TM you launch TM and go back to the time you want, select the item (iPhoto library in this case) and click restore

  • Issue with Blog entry length

Okay, so i create a blog with pictures that are very long (several pictures made into one in photoshop). When i'm editing the blog entry in iWeb, everything looks fine. When i view it in the browser the page cuts off half way and moves the next and previous buttons up to where it cuts off. In iWeb i set the page length to be 4000pixels, which is more than enough...but it doesn't show up that way in the browser.
My solution right now is to open the html file in dreamweaver and change the length pixels to 3000, which works fine. The problem is that anytime i do work in iWeb, it'll automatically save it back to it's version...so i'd have to change every blog entry every time i do anything to the website! WHAT A PAIN!!!
Anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution? Is Apple listening? FIX THE BUGS!

This seems totally illogical to me, because if the picture is in the body, the footer should come after the body. I should have to extend a footer to have an entire picture in the body show up.
Either way, i obviously did it (because all your other advice is accurate), and of course it works....sort of.
Okay, so now i CAN see the entire picture, however, Next and Previous still show up mid way through the picture. yet in the editor they are under the picture. SO, i thought i'd just drag them down a ways and sort of gage how much extra space is needed. So in the editor there would be a huge gap under the picture before these arrows show up. Unfortunately, this didn't work, the next and previous buttons still who up mid way over the picture. GAH?
Is there a fix for this? I haven't really bothered playing around with it, 'cause i spent soo much time last night trying to figure out why adding another blank page caused all my other pages to alter.
Thanks for your help on all my issues Ethmoid!

  • Blog entries via email?

    Hi all,
Anyone know if the new blog utility in iWeb/.mac will support adding entries via email from a handheld device such as a blackberry?

I'd done something similar long ago, sent an email to my home machine, AppleScript intercepted the email, parsed the subject line and turned on X-10 power module. It was like having Tom Bodett at home.
As for iWeb, the concept is do-able. But at the current state, iWeb is not quite scriptable. You can add a photo blog entry, but it only has images property, so you can't enter any text for it.
    Perhaps, next rev.

  • Blog Entries Saved to Folder

    Hi all:
I hope those of you who have already used iWeb 2 can answer me. One of the worste thing of the previous version of iWeb was that when I added a new post to my blog and saved it folder, it saved AGAIN all the other unedited posts and pages too. Therefore, when I add the 301th post I have to wait for iWeb to save all the 300. And this is pure madness.
Can I save only the new blog entries with iWeb 2?
    Thanks,
    -Antonio

I have note tested this yet but I feel quite sure nothing has changed for you.
When you add an entry to your blog your blog's base page has changed it's content; you understand that it must regenerate and upload that page anew. Your archive page too has changed in the respect that it has had the last listed entry on the base page added to the top of it's parade.
It only makes sense that it would have to upload both of these. So I assume it is storing these as two basic pages. One of which, in your case, is extremely large, the archival one. It's true a better approach would be to save 300+ pages and just use url's, but apparently they have decided against this.
I might suggest that you make an entirely separate page for your archival construction and route to it from your base page, rather than letting iWeb take care of all of that for you. If your home-made archival page never changes, it won't upgrade.
So you have your base page with 5 or 10 entries, your archival page with say another 20 or so, then you have your mega-archive as a different blog page inside iWeb, and route user with a url at the bottom of the iWeb archive page.
iWeb isn't the best tool for all jobs. If I was that industrious and had a 300+ entry blog I'd use iBlog (which is a **** of a nice program) or blog.mac, also a great program. Just a thought.
    Good luck!

  • Adding blog entries via email

Suggestion: to add blog entries (text and/or photos) to iWeb via email.

I'd done something similar long ago, sent an email to my home machine, AppleScript intercepted the email, parsed the subject line and turned on X-10 power module. It was like having Tom Bodett at home.

  • My main blog page can't find its entry pages

When I make iWeb blog entry pages, the main blog page can't find them. It says "Error. The file cannot be found." (even if I just use the placeholder "Blue bird day" page without changing it!) I'm dragging my image onto the placeholder image on the (Modern) Blog entry page but the main Blog pag can't find it or even the placeholder image on an unmodified new blog entry page. I am publishing to a file and ftp-ing it up to my ISP but I get the "file cannot be found" message even on my own hard drive before uploading. What's wrong?
The blog page of my site is:
    http://www.christopherrauschenberg.com/Site/Blog/Blog.html
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Well, not sure of a complete solution for you, but I have found a specific problem.
From the main blog page. . . the link it gives for New York is
    http://www.christopherrauschenberg.com/Site/Blog/429B84A8-BD4B-4B30-8A66-017811D F742E.html
However, in checking the directory, looks like that is labeled instead as
    http://www.christopherrauschenberg.com/Site/Blog/429B84A8-BD4B-4B30-_124C76.html
That would explain why it couldn't be found.
A little further checking or your root directory shows similar mismatches between various page index files and the folders containing data.
Have you published and uploaded portions at a time? Is ossible after changes we made that all changes were not published.
It might be best to clean out the FTP folder, republish your whole site from iWeb to a folder on your computer and re-FTP it to your site (making sure to enter correct url of your site on the publish screen as well).
(if you think I helped in any way, I'd appreciate it if you could mark my reply as either "solved" or "helpful" using the little buttons in the title bar of the reply. Manythanx! )
    Good luck!
