Can't find my HD on desktop

Last night I was adventuring new things on my MacBook, then I noticed that the Macintosh HD icon that is normally on my desktop, was gone. Today I have been messing around the settings trying to get the icon back in it's place. When I click on the magnifying glass in the upper-right hand corner and search HD, the Macintosh HD icon is there but instead, it's names / and is located in the Documents section. Could someone please explain to me how I can get this icon back?

Also, I did NOT install or download anything in the time-period I saw the icon was not on the desktop.

I have just tried this and no joy. There are screen shots of me trying to just copy and paste it onto the desktop.
I only see the Macintosh HD icon above the Network Icon after I find the Macintosh HD icon on the spotlight. When I normally click on Finder and and go to my MacBook folder, it does not show.

Are you on Mac OS X or Windows?
On Mac OS X look under the Applications folder and on Windows under the Program Files folder.
Both operating systems let you create your own Shortcut / Link on the Desktop.

Can't find downloaded files on desktop

I can't find files that safari automatically downloaded to desktop, they don't show in my finder when I go to desktop.
However, when changing the settings in Safari on where the files download to, I can see these files but can't access or delete them.

Where can I find Deskfinder for my desktop?

I downloaded Desk Finder form the Blackberry site, and it says I also need to download http://www.shapeservices.com/freedownload/BB/DeskFinderForBlackBerry.exe and install it on my desktop. When I try, it tells me that's an invalid web page. So I go in to shapeservices and find the software, but then when I select the model 8830 smartphone it tells me that's in invalid request.
All I want to do is be able to download WORD and EXCEL docs from my desktop and store on the blackberry. Any suggestions?

Where can I find the "Blackberry desktop software"???.....

...I have Verizon wireless and it is not listed on either of the discs I received with phone. i know it is available online to download but before downloading, i get a message stating "Note:If you did not purchase BlackBerry directly from Research In Motion (RIM), please contact your service provider to determine if this software has been authorized for use with your handheld." I contacted Verizon and they don't seem to know either. Any help is appreciated.

Can't find open program on Desktop.

Ever since updating to ML, I have been having trouble with powerpoint. For some reason, when I open a .ppt file, it opens like normal, it says PP is open and I can even print the slides, but I can not edit or even see any of them. When I go into expose mode:
You can see that it is running and you see it in the corner. BUT, when you click on the window or try to bring it to the front, it just slides back to the top left corner. Inaccessible. Then, when you go to "show all windows" on the PP app running in the dock:
When you click that, it does the same thing, slides up to the top left and is gone. I thought that maybe it was running on a fourth screen or something? With SL I had four monitors running, but I can't figure out how to adjust multiple monitors now.
Does anyone have a solution?

there you'll be able to move around your monitors to where you can grab PP and move it to the right place.

Can you please try and restart your machine and then check ? If nothing happens , please navigate to Utilities> Adobe installers to find Creative cloud installer or go to Applications > Creative Cloud > Creative Cloud uninstaller and then uninstall the product from there .
once done with the uninstallation ,please browse to Creative.adobe.com and then reinstall the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app .

Note that Firefox 24 doesn't have the "3-bar" Firefox menu button that came with the Australis user interface, but still have the orange Firefox menu button if the menu bar is hidden.

It's not completely obvious. What you have to do in Spaces is to position your cursor to the upper right of the screen, after which faint + (plus) sign appears in that area. Click that, upon which another Desktop will appear.
The + may be difficult or impossible to see with some desktop backgrounds (black, for instance):

HP Officejet 6500 E710n-z is USB to desktop running Windows 7. I am XP Pro can"t find printer

I have downloaded the network diagnostic utility. When I run it it won't let me get past finding the printer. It wants it to be hooked up with ethernet cable which ain' going to happen. The printer is hooked to a desktop Dell running Windows 7 that is my wifes. It works I am not messing with that end. Scared? No just don't need the grief if I get it where it does not work. It is putting out a signal because the setup screen on the printer says it is and better than that two laptops running Windows 7 can get print from it. I initally hooked it up wireless and this computer(runningXP Pro 32 bit) could get it to print a test page. Photos would crash. Printer would run maybe half a page and quit an spit 2 or 3 pages of gobbledy **bleep** then start over. You could hit print from the host computer and it might start printing ten minutes or so down the road. By then I had hit the print button 2 or three more times. That thing was spitting pages of half done stuff half a day later. Price of Photo paper made me wire it USB. I blamed it on slow internet. If we get 20k you are having a good day. My apoligies in advance to Leroy and Bubbas' DSL line. That is all water over the dam but I still am not thrilled so far. I am tired and my eyes are burnt to cinders reading web pages and I still can't find out what to do. I have typed every combination of computer names, network names, ip addresses into every place I know to do and I can't get the XP to recognize. I got a program called hack this that I will attach a copy. It means little to me but more knowledgable folks understand. If anybody can help it would be most appreciated. I been using flash drives to get my prints but it would be nice to be able to print a page or two every now and then.

If the printer is connected USB to the Windows 7 machine, what you can do is share it to the network (assuming the XP computer is also connected to the same network). This way the XP machine can see the printer on the Windows 7 computer and install it. The only drawback is that the Windows 7 computer will need to be powered on for the XP computer to be able to see and print to it. I have linked a third party site below for instructions on how to do this.

How did you install it in the first place? If it came with your Mac, and the Mac didn't come with Lion installed, then reinstall iLife from the Applications disc that was in the box. If you no longer have that disc, you'll have to order a replacement from Apple customer service. Either that, or restore the iPhoto application from your backups.
If you got iPhoto from the App Store, you can download it again by launching the App Store application.

Can't find my Library on new desktop

Set up a new desktop at home over the weekend and downloaded ITunes software to it. Could not remember username or password so spent quite a bit of time setting those up again but now I can't find or access my library on new or old compurter. I think I have all the stuff on my IPod but am afraid that if I sync it I will lose stuff. What's a boy to do?

Folder from my desktop has disappeared and I can not find it!

I'm hoping someone out there can help me. To put it in short, I have been typing my notes for an exam that I need to pass for my medical license for the last couple of months. Yesterday I went to save the newest document to the folder (which I had saved on the Desktop of my Mac) and it wasn't there anymore. I'm not sure if any other files are missing because that was the main one that I was using at the time. I went into Microsoft Word and File > Recent and they are all listed there but when I click to open them it says that it can not find the file and if I would like to search for it myself. I do have an external hard drive but I guess I did not back up my stuff since I started working on these notes (yeah yeah I know dumb mistake). Can anyone help? I tried using StellarPhoenixMac recovery but I don't think it found anything worth while. Thanks.
