Can't find printer brother printer

Can't find printer brother printer

I've been using my networked Brother printers on SL since day 1, actually since before day 1. No problems with IP printing and CUPS drivers at all. I've also been able to set up the scanner function over the network very easily.
I've set my printer to a static number, tell the printer installer to use IP printing, and type in the IP number and the Mac finds the printer and assigned the driver.
Have you tried "Resetting" the printer system by right clicking in the printer list box?
Yes, I did try resetting the printer system.
Obviously something is wrong because I can't add the printer. When I hit the plus sign it is not there unless I set up a Mac to share it.
Thanks

  • I can't find a wifi printer on my imac

    Hello,
I can't find a wifi printer on my imac. It's always linked automatically to wifi printers before. It's an HP deskjet, I've tried downloading drivers for it, but still no joy. Any ideas what I should do? Thanks,

In future posts, please tell us more of the details - which printer, which Mac, which OS X version, etc. Have you changed anything lately?
First thing I would try is Reset Printing System (and after, try adding the printer again):

Read here about which printers are supported, and how we Normally get drivers now (Not by downloading directly from Manufacturer):

    Help

OK, using these instructions: https://www.broadbandadvice.org.uk/Website/Routers/HG532.htm  change the channel to 11.
Now, if and when the printer is connected with a vaild IP address, let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • HT4356 I've done all the above and iPad still says it can't find an air printer ..

I've done all the above and iPad still says it can't find an AirPrint printer.... Turned off/on printer and iPad ... Prints wireless ok in my Windows PC...

    1. Buy a AirPrint enabled printer; see list below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
    2. Run the CD provided and setup as network printer; this will setup your printer to the same network as your iPad

    3. Start printing from your iPad without wire

  • I have a brother MFC-J835DW printer and my ipad can not find it to print?  They are both connected to the same wirelss network via a Linksys router.  Any ideas?

I have a Brother MFC-J835DW wireless printer (which is on the list of supported printers for Airprint), and have both the IPad 2 and the printer connected to the same wireless network.  When I try to select the printer to print fromt he iPad, it cannot find the printer.  Any ideas?

The first thing to do is to make sure that your printer has the latest firmware. You can download the firmware updater from Brother:

  • Can't find driver for printer

I have an HP PSC 750 connected to an airport express base station. It shows up in the printer browser when I click the add printer button (it says Bonjour under the connection type). However, under the 'print using' drop menu it won't auto select a driver and I've tried several HP drivers that were in the list and they did not work correctly (I just got pages of random letters and numbers when I tried to print). So I installed the software from the HP website and if I connect the printer directly to the computer this works fine. However, not with airport express - the HP setup assistant has a thing that searches for the printer and it can find it when connected directly to the computer (USB) but it can't find it on airport (it has a TCP/IP option for typing in the network address of the printer but I'm not sure what that would be or if thats even applicable to this case). So I guess my question is: Can I even use this software with the printer on airport or do I need to do something else?
Thanks very much for any help!

henry, i've noticed you've solved several users' problems printing over airport. i'm hoping you can solve mine: i have a g5 imac running os v10.4.2 which cannot seem to print via airport express' usb to an hp color laserjet 2600n. when i run printer setup utility there is no driver selectable for the 2600n (however there is when it's connected directly to the imac via usb). when i select a generic hp color laserjet driver, the 2600n shows up via bonjour in my print dialog box, but nothing ever prints. meanwhile, my g4 powerbook running v10.3.9 can print to the 2600n over airport with no problems (and its printer setup sees a driver for the 2600n via rendezvous). i've contacted hp support and they've deemed it an airport issue. any clues? thanks!

  • OSX can't find shared windows printer

    Hi,
I use a shared printer on my windows 7 PC to print from my Macbook. But this stopped working when I upgraded to Mavericks.
To fix this, I removed the printer from my preferences, but now I can't even add the printer anymore. OSX finds the windows computer, but doesn't list the shared printer. I double checked all sharing settings on the PC, all is fine. OSX simply doesn't find the printer...
Is there any explanation (and solution) for this?
    Thanks

Hi, thanks. It never asked me for a password until now.
Another issues came up though; the windows 7 PC is a passwordless login.
When I try to set up the printer on my mac though, it doesnt let me log in with the password line empty.
I keep getting the message that the windows computer refused the request.
I double checked though, the user account on the windows PC does not have a password...
Do I need to set up a password for that account to make this work?
    Thanks

  • Can't find any Bonjour printer in XP

On my iMAC, I installed a Canon MP750 printer, which works fine for my iMAC.
I shared the printer on the iMAC via system preferences.
I installed Bonjour 1.4 on the 2 XP machines in the network.
In the bonjour wizzardhowever, I can't find any printers.....
The command dns-sd -B ipp.tcp results om my IMAC in:
Timestamp A/R Flags if Domain Service Type Instance Name
    17:07:08.184 Add 2 4 local. ipp.tcp. Canon MP750 @ iMac
On the XP-machines I get no result at all. So for some reason the printer isn't visible for the bonjour wizzard on the 2 XP-pc's.
I disabled the firewall on the XP-machines.
I spend many hours reading tips etc, in trying to get this to work, but without any result yet.
I hope someone can help me to solve this, so I can print from the XP (SP2) pc's to this printer.
    Thanks !

I had the exact same problem. Printing was fine via Bonjour in Parallels, but didn't work anymore after switching to Fusion. I solved it, though, by following the instructions from the vmware education site:
    http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=3193&ui=www
Disable your pop-up blocker, then click on the "VMware Fusion 1.0 Printers" tutorial. If you are using Bonjour, you can skip down to step 9 in the presentation.
For me the crucial step was releasing and renewing the IP address that my VM uses, but there are a few steps, so you should watch the tutorial to make sure you are on the right track.
    Hope that Helps

  • Can't find my canon printer

Unable to find my canon printer even thou only used yesterday, can anybody help

Restart your printer and your WiFi router by removing power to them for 30 seconds.
Also make sure that the firmware in your printer is the latest from the manufacturer.

  • Can't find my e-print account anymore.

    Using E-print; can login anymore.
I made an account, tested and worked, and thought it better had another name.
I changed the name, since then it doesn't work anymore, and worse I can't login to the eprint-account anymore.
A new account can't be made because the printer is already coupled to another account. I can't recouple the printer to a new account without knowing the combination of account an password of the old account.
    How to continue ???

    Hello homeprint,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I gather that you are unable to log into your ePrint account and are unable to add your printer to a new ePrint account.
What make/model/product number of HP printer do you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
How is the printer connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
What operating system are you using on your computer? whatsmyos.com
Do you have an HP ePrintCenter or an HP Connected account?
Have you customized the printer’s ePrint email address?
    Thank you.

  • Can't find options for printing without color!?

Any ideas for finding options for black and white printing on an iMac 10.7?  I don't want to waste the color cartridge.

I've been working on Macs since OS6. Just moved all the way from Tiger to Lion. Seamless aparrt from printing Black and White. I have a few thousand CAD files which I print regularly. They're drawn in various colours on a black screen but obviously when I print them I want them in Black & White. Not Greyscale.
Previously I've hacked around this using a custom Quartz filter which I can no longer select from the Print dialog. Save in Preview, apply a filter, reopen and print? A few hundred times? Not very helpful.
I tried setting up an Automator print workflow but it baulks at the printer by sending a Letter format file not the A3 or A4 that's in the original Print Setup dialog.
Oh - the printer is a Xerox Workcentre 7425.

  • My iPhone can't find my AirPrint printer and my iTunes library

My iPhone doesn't find my HP 5510 with airprint and remote doesn't find my library. With my 2 pcs the printer work in wifi and usb mode, and also in eprint mode (eprint works also with the iphone). I thinks it's a problem of comunication. I've got a modem only with 2 ethernet. I connected in 1 ethernet my desktop pc, and in the other I connected an access point (d-link dap 1360).
    Help?

The D-Link DAP 1360, from what I can tell, does not have an option to turn Bonjour/ Multicast on or off and that could mean it does or does not support the service. I do not see it present in the interface, the link is below for an emulator.
    http://www.support.dlink.com/emulators/dap1360/101/st_device.htm
As far as your modem, I assume it is a modem combination wireless router.  What is its make and mode?
Some good first steps are to power down your iOS devices and printer, then unplug your routers/modem. Power your modem and routers back on fully, then power your iOS devices and printer on and try to AirPrint again.
