Can't find purchased music?

During a recent i-Pod synch on my computer, I may have mis-chosen an option. Bottom line, previous purchases are no longer on my iTunes nor my iPod, but they do show up on my iTunes account history. How do I get them back?

Same thing just happened to me. I synced my ipod and suddenly twenty something songs I bought two days ago disappeared off of my ipod and itunes without a trace. What really angers me is that I've bought a good $300 in music off of itunes over the past few years, and it makes me wonder how many songs disappeared that I never even noticed. Not good Apple. You guys are doing an excellent job of pursuading me not to purchase music through the itunes store. Amazon has just as good of selection without the buggy DRM.

  • New Computer - Can't Find Purchased Music

I've recently moved my iTunes Library to a new computer.  There are three or four music purchases which I do not appear in the migrated librariy.  I can see these purchases in my iTunes Purchase History.  How do I recover these purchases?

Since your question has nothing to do with itunes U,  you may want to post in a more appropriate forum.

  • I synced my ipod to my laptop and now I can't find my music on my ipod it's all gone and some of the songs I purchased thru itunes

I synced my ipod to my laptop and now I can't find my music help.  I called the support but was told that that help expired.  I did not even know I had that offered to me HELP!!!!

You may be able to redownload your iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
BTW, did you sync to the laptop before? Yu can only sync to one iTunes library. If you sync to to another library the iPod will be eerased and it contents replace with what is in the iTunes library on the computer.

  • I can't find purchased songs in Music Library or in Recently Added.  The purchases are on my account.

I can't find purchased songs in Music Library or in Recently Added.  I have searched my library but they are not there.  Itunes says that all recently purchased items have been downloaded.  Where are the songs?

I don't know how, but this problem resolved itself for me.  If you don't see the downloads go to Documents, My Music, iTunes and then scrounge around to see if you can find a file with new downloads in there.  Then you can drag them to the iTunes icon.
Then try shutting down iTunes, and your computer and restart to see if this issue fixes itself.  I know, only a Mackie would think that a computer could fix itself.

  • Can't find my music purchased

However, in your Finder's preferences, under Sidebar, do you have Music and Pictures checked off?

  • I can't find the music I purchased via iphone4 from itunes on my laptop

I am using the same account to log in that I use on my phone. The only thing I had was a download of the digital booklet. The music is on my phone still. I also can't find the music I purchased on my old phone a few months back. that is all lost. please help... thanks

If the music was purchased using iTunes on your iPhone you will need to transfer it from the iPhone to the laptop. When iTunes is up, and your iPhone is connected and showing under devices, right-click on the name of your iPhone, and select transfer purchases, all of the purchases will transfer to the laptop, but will still be on the iPhone.

Music and other purchased media doesn't sync to your Mac from iCloud, it must be downloaded to your iTunes library, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.
If they are on an iOS device, they can also be transferred to your iTunes library by opening iTunes on your Mac, authorizing iTunes for all Apple IDs used to purchase the media in Store>Authorize This Computer, then connecting your device to your computer and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.

  • Why can't i purchase music from an overseas store

Why can't I purchase music from the US ITunes Store when based in AUS. I can't even find the music I want in searches unless i search overseas.

This has been covered here many times already, but once again: Apple has no choice in the matter. It's due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders.  Quoting from This Business of Music (10th Edition) (by M. William Krasilovsky and Sydney Shemel et. al,  Random House LLC 2007) (and thanks to the Mimico Kid for the reference) :
The difficulty of establishing workable business models for digital files (...) extends to where they are sold and where they are played. This is the issue of territoriality, and it is an illustration of how the Internet makes it necessary to reexamine basic assumptions that have been taken for granted (...).
(....) In the music business the primary problem is that copyrights are national and therefore specific rights are tied to national laws and the interpretations of national courts.
(.... T)hough we can one day hope to see the development of common standards with respect to copyright, the fact that the music business is building upon a history of nation-specific contractual relationships means that the goal of universal international standards is not, for the forseeable future, a practical one.
(...) Adding to the difficulty (...) the copyrights themselves may have been assigned to different companies in different territories. The best hope for a cleaner start and a simpler future is worldwide recognition that digital uses are in fact - and should be in law - totally new.
The content owners don't like cross-border sales of CDs either, but there's nothing they can do to stop such sales. They can, though, and do stop cross-border download sales, since if the download stores refuse, the rights holders won't license the tracks to that store.
So unless and until the record companies, et. al,  all get together and agree to allow download stores to sell cross-border, there's absolutely nothing Apple or any other download store can do.

  • I have an iPod classic, 30GB - I can no find the music I have synced

I bought another computer about 2 yrs ago. I have not been adding any new music to it, but I can not find the music I have synced with my iPod. I hesitate hooking up my iPod to the computer. Could I lose mu music?
         Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks. Jim

If you have signed into iTunes on the computer using a different Apple ID that was used to originally download the music, that's why it's not loading in iTunes.
On the computer with iTunes open go to the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Sign in with the Apple ID used for those purchases.

    You can't do that.
And before you decide to store any music that you own on a computer at work, talk to your IT department. Many organizations do not permit it for legal reasons. Standard policies are that anything stored on company owned computers is the property of the company. It could not be legally stored on their machines unless you transfer the licenses and all copies, physical and digital, to the company, meaning you no longer own the music. If they were to be audited and could not prove that they own the music, they would be subject to copyright violation penalties. Just use your iPod when you're at the office if you want to listen to music.
