Can't find songs in ITunes!

Why is it that I cant find some artists in ITunes? For instance, ITunes has no Beatles material to download except for Beatles songs being covered by other artists. There is also no Smiths and no Radiohead... whats the deal? Why are some artists available and others are not?

*Why are some artists available and others are not?*
Because their music hasn't been licensed for download from the record companies they are signed to. In some cases where they have control of their own licensing the artists themselves haven't agreed to release their music for download by iTunes and others will have signed up to other services.

  • HT203167 can't find songs that iTunes says i have already purchased

I go to the iTunes Store to purchase a song and when I find the song and click on it to purchase I get a message saying that I have already purchased this song in the past.  Do I wish to purchase it again?  I click on cancel and go look for the song in my Purchased Folder and can not find the song. This has happened on a few songs.  How do I get all the songs that I have ever purchased to show up in my Purchased Folder?

  • Can't find song in iTunes

Downloaded a song to PC laptop from Amazon and iTunes can't locate it, but it's in MY MUSIC, I tried dragging it to iTunes and after several attempts, succeeded and dragged to my 5th gen nano. But now it's gone again.
Do I have to do something special to put the song into iTunes. Most of the songs in My Music default to iTunes but not this new one.

    Hello Jim,
If you wish to have music automatically copied to your iTunes Music folder upon importing, make sure you have this option ticked in iTunes Preferences under the Advanced tab.
This will guarantee that any time you import music from outside of iTunes, it will automatically place a copy of the song in your iTunes Music folder.

  • IMovoe 08 can't find songs in iTunes

I am trying to add music to a movie in iMovie 08 and when I browse songs in media browser it gives me an error:
+The song "XXXXXXXXXX" could not be used because the original file could not be located.+
It does this for all my iTunes songs. When I play them in iTunes no problem and no error. Only in iMovie.
    Any ideas?
I'm gonna reboot and see what that does.

Just delete the song and then go through the process of downloading the purchase again.

  • Can't drag songs from itunes onto anything (desktop, flash drive, etc.)

    This is weird.
All of a sudden, I can't drag songs from itunes onto the desktop, any folder on my hard drive, my flash drive, or my spare hard drive. On a health computer, if you drag a large number of files, first they land as white icons and they fill in as they get transferred. With my computer, the white icons stick around for a few second and then disappear. The first time I try, I can transfer 1-10 files successfully. After that it stops working. Here is what I've done.
1] Upgraded my system from 10.3.X to 10.4.5
    2] I upgraded itunes from 7.0 to 7.3.1
    Has anyone seen this before?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Jeff

Since I can not edit my own post I'll have to reply to myself... Sorry for the "spam" on the forums.
I DID find something out (while playing with this some more)...
Try and copy as many songs as you can with UNIQUE titles. I've noticed that when you drag the songs in iTunes to the desktop (or a folder) the file it creates/copies is named like so: "songtitle.mp3."
Apparently the Finder and iTunes don't play well together [enough] to prevent several files of the same name from appearing - in most OS's I've played with (Linux and Windows, in addition to other Apple & Mac OS's over the years) there's a mechanism for handling this... Windows just adds a number to the end the of the second (and all future occurring) file(s) of the same name - as does most Linux builds I've used... Apparently the Finder in OS X just doesn't do anything - at all - when it discovers this "name error."
What I had to do (I was copying my Christmas music - do you know how many "Jingle Bells.mp3" files you can have?!) was make many folders or manually rename EACH FILE one by one so that others could be copied in the same place since the file name would always be JUST THE SONG NAME and the extension (and I do tend to keep my files in higher bitrate MP3 format for easier shuffling from OS to OS as I tend to use (in case you've not noticed) many different ones at any given time).
So, try avoiding any songs with the same title (or altering the title in iTunes somehow), or make separate folders to keep the same song name files from being created in the same place; and see if that doesn't clear this problem up for you - it did for me. ^_^
    And sorry for being so "wordy" on this post. ^_^;

  • How can i buy songs off itunes that you can't get on the Canadian version but you can in the u.k. version

How can i buy songs off itunes that you can't get on the Canadian version but you can in the u.k. version
I would really like to get these songs (not illegally like most people) because i really like them but they are only in the U.K. or Irish version of iTunes and I'm on the Canadian version
If anyone can tell me how i could possibly get these that would be great thanks

OS X is the same no matter where you buy it.  You can switch it to Japanese or one of 30 other languages in few seconds via the system preferences.
If you want a Japanese keyboard as well, you can select that when you configure your purchase:

  • Can't find devices on iTunes

Can't find devices on iTunes libraries, after turning on home sharing ?

Home Sharing only allows you to share your iTunes library from computer-to-computer or from computer-to-iOS devices not from iOS device-to-computer.

  • Can you erase songs from iTunes, but keep them on the iPod???

Hi, I'm a newbie and tried to post this question earlier, but I'm not sure if it worked.
I'm wondering if there is any way to update your ipod, then take some of the songs on itunes, but still plug your ipod in later and keep those former songs on the ipod even if they're not on itunes. I'm thinking this isnt possible. But I wanted to make sure. I have limited HD space, but a 30GB ipod, so I was considering my options.
    thanks!
    angela

Set the iPod to sync manually; you can then delete songs from iTunes without them being deleted from the iPod automatically. You should keep another copy of the songs if you do this, as they can easily be lost if they are only on the iPod.

I have downloaded 2 rented movies. I can find then in my downloads but can not find then in iTunes. I read the others that have had the same problem an I can't find the rented in iTunes

    Hey rangermikegsm,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’re concerned because you don’t see your rentals in iTunes, but they appear to have downloaded. Take a look at the article below and check the Rentals tab in iTunes on your MacBook.
About renting movies from the iTunes Store - Apple Support
    Find movies you rented previously
Find your movie on the device you used to rent it.
On a Mac or PC: Go to the Rentals tab in the Movies section of the iTunes Library.
On an iOS device: Go to the Rental tab of the Videos app.
Using Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation): Look in the top shelf of the main menu.
    Ciao,

I am using Garageband and saving my tunes as iTunes files but can´t find them in iTunes on my computer after syncing. Where are they?

My answer in the older thread is still valid
Maybe the "iTunes Music" folder is hidden.
Please open Terminal and issue the following command
    ls -ladO /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music
you should get a line similar to this
    drwxrwxrwx  13 yourusername  staff  hidden 442 12 Mar 21:49 /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
Numbers, date and time may differ.
If you see hidden then the folder is hidden. To unhide "iTunes Music", in Terminal issue the following command
    chflags nohidden /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music
