Can't find the same sound

I am trying to find the sound "Ambient Synth Piano" on my Intel A5 computers (GB 11). It is on both my older imac (GB 09) and on my mbp (GB 11).
I have clicked on the part in the edit list where it says "show all".
When I do a global search on any of the above computers, for that sound, it does not show up.
Any ideas?

The JamPacks are no longer sold separately, and they are not part of the additional GarageBand contents. And not all of the old installer CDs for JamPacks work with Mt. Lion, some installers use PowerPC code.
What I have done, is buy MainStage 2 from the App Store. It will install all five JamPacks in the same location where GarageBand is looking for the JamPacks. So by installing MainStage you will be able to use them in GarageBand as well, without any special setup for GarageBand. The price for MainStage 2 is moderate - about 30$ for all five JamPacks. I found it less trouble to invest in that than trying to migrate the old library files from old my Mac. Christoph may be able to help with that - I think he just recently migrated the JamPacks.

You'd have to think through this, but it seems like if you are using Outlook, and the items vanished from the Outlook client as well as the server,that you could re-populate Outlook using iTunes.

Tom is right, BUT! ...the newest version of Compressor (41.) allows you to do just THAT! ...to export custom sizes.
It's easy. And... once you set it up, you can export DIRECTLY from FCPX, provided you've saved / added this scheme as a "destination" in the FCPX app.

How can I use the same Sound variable for multiple sounds?

I need my program to play many different mp3 files at different times. I'm reading that you can not load different mp3 files into the same Sound variable. But there must be a way around this right? Can I Unload mp3 files some how? Or can I delete the Sound variable and declare it again? I don't want to have hundreds of Sound variables so what do I do? Thank you.

delete doesn't work in as3. you must remove all listeners and references including nulling the variables. for displayobjects, they need to be removed from the display list.
p.s. you don't need to create a sound instance until you need to load an mp3 using one. so, if you're waiting for user input to start loading an mp3, you should wait for that input to create that sound instance.

Can't find the original sound card

I have an HP Media Center m7334n desktop pc with xp multimedia. It came with a Realtec sound card, and I installed a second C Media sound card to use with an external interface. It was set up so that the Realtec handled all sounds for the pc such as watching video or listening to audio, and the second sound card worked only with the selected external device.
For some reason, I no longer have sound for audio or video through the Realtec. The C Media card still works fine with th external device, but I get no audio through the PC speakers. I have tried plugging the PC speakers into a different PC and they work fine. I have also tried plugging different speakers into the HP pc, but still have no audio. Also, I can't 'see' the Realtec card when I go to Device Manager. I have tried resetting On-board Audio to Automatic in BIOS, but that did not help.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

I suggest reinstalling the Realtek driver. Also, check to assure that all boxes are checked correctly in the Control Panel.

My external hard drive is 'seen' by my iMac and I can go into the Finder and open files and folders. I am using the hard drive for Time Machine back up. However Time Machine says it can't find the drive. Same thing has happened with Final Cut Express.

You cannot have time machine backups on your hard drive if you intend to use it in FCPX.

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

Nothing happens after i install is the "Launch Firefox now" checkbox set, the same message comes up.

Use AirPort Utility 5.6 which contains the features you need. It is compatible with Lion as well as Mountain Lion, however, the installer app will refuse to install it on Mountain Lion.
This dilemma is easily solved though. You simply need to extract the app from the installer package using a package extractor like Pacifist.

If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
Mountain Lion will not allow you to delete its existing version of AirPort Utility. Just ignore it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist.
Note: For those with Leopard or Snow Leopard systems you need AirPort Utility 5.6.1 (this is confusing - a later AirPort Utility version for an earlier OS X version - but it is correct).

If "Realtek High Definition Audio" is listed under the "Sound, video and game controllers" in the Device Manager then that is your sound driver. Some people have had luck with uninstalling the Realtek HD audio driver from their computer via the Device Manager (be sure to check the "Delete driver software for this "), and then reinstalling it. You can get the latest version of the Realtek HD audio driver from the Realtek download site.
Many of us who have the Realtek HD sound driver have had to make several tweaks to improve the sound. Opening the Realtek HD Manager and enabling Loudness Equalization and setting the equalizer to Powerful helps with some of the low audio issues some of us have experienced with the Realtek HD sound drivers.
