Can't find where a program is open. The package is empty. I can't move the program to the trash. I want to uninstall and reinstall this unresponsive program.
I want to uninstall an unresponsive application. The application cannot be moved to the trash because it is open. The application does not show any package contents in the directory. There is no response when I try to open the application. Running the installer appears to update the app. Force quit is not an option. app: Dropbox 3.0.3, OS X 10.7.5, Firefox 34.0.5, MacBook 13 in early 2008, Core 2 duo 2.1 Ghz Penryn, 2 GB RAM.

When I try to start Firefox, I get a message that it is already running, but not responding and that I should close it before trying to run another Firefox. But I cannot find a way to close Firefox program that is not running as far as I can see. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, but that did not work. I had following problem: When I tried to search for a song in the Itunes Store I kept getting message "Accessing Itunes Store" (even though it appeared I was already in the store) Everytime I typed a character in the Search box the Accessing Itunes Store message would pop up

Don't know where to go from this point. HELPI have the same issue. I took it the genius bar and called talked to tier 2 phone support. They have standard thing where you uninstall all apple software in a certain order and then reinstall 64bit itunes. That did nothing (tried it 4 times).
I've gotten two clues so far.
One is that at the store if I plug someone else's iphone 4 in then itunes acts the same way. So it is not the phone. Two is tier 2 phone support told me to try syncing it with a fresh user account (an admin one). I did that and itunes was just fine, it did not freeze.
So there appears to be some conflict with the software, music files, whatever that is on my current user account (also an admin account). I ran virus and malware detectors and found nothing. Now I'm going to try putting my music, movies, apps, etc in the new user account and see if the phone will sync then.
I know its not much but thats where I'm at. I hope it helps. -
I put office for MAC on my macbook air--it somehow shows up twice and documents load out there depending on which one you pick. I need to get all of the office installiations off and reinstall but it appears to leave one out there. When I go to applications I cannot see it but I can see it on the icon line on the bottom of the screen. How can I reinstall Office for Mac so there is only one installation on my computer ?
Unfortunately the information given to you by r8er is incorrect, deleting the Office folder from Applications only partially uninstalls Office.

I can't find my data file, in order to back it up. After going to Documents - Palm One, the only thing that looks like a user name is a file with no data. Somewhere there has to be another file with all my data, since data is available when I open the Palm One software on my computer. After backing it up, I want to uninstall and reinstall the Palm One software. I'm hoping this resolves my inabilty hot sync. Thanks! Lauraflavin.

Make sure you are dealing with the correct product for the serial number. If the serial number is for a full creative suite then you need to get the suite, not the individual application, and vice versa.
Unrelated to that, in case it helps, here is a link to another site. You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

Can no longer open firefox; profile showed lock-uninstalled and reinstalled, still cannot access
For years I have used Firefox-suddlenly it will no longer open (can access sites with another browser). After spending hours reading forums, self-helps, etc I tried looking at the profile and it had a parental.lock shown on it. I am the administrator of the computer so I know it is not computer related. I tried deleting the lock (which I appeared to be successful at, rebooting the computer but still could not access Firefox.
I then uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and am getting a message to close the previous version of Firefox. The update will not launch.

I uninstalled and reinstalled but the program still won't open. I was trying to download an mp3 file last evening. Instead the site tried to install a new audio player. I did not want it so uninstalled it immediately. I think in that process something was deleted that I need for iTunes but I do not know what. How do i figure out what is gone and recover it?

Try downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hour on my Lenovo.)

I can't get itunes to open from my desktop. When I click on the icon nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing. Why isn't itunes working??
On my PC I had a problem where the iTunes store would only display a blank white page, I managed to display my account settings, but nothing for music, etc
I treid this and it has immediately sorted it out...
start>programs>accessories> right click on Command Prompt and run as Administrator
then simply enter 'netsh winsock reset' and return
after restarting the PC and loading up iTunes the store was there fine ;-)
