Can't fine internal power supply form new sound card

Just installed  an asus xonar dx sound card in my slimline s5670t desktop. The problem I am having is that I cannot find the 4 pin power supply I need on the mobo. Can anyone help me out?
This question was solved.

These are the motherboard specifications for your PC.
You probably need to look for a 4 pin molex  or floppy connector coming off the power supply.  If your don't see a spare connector then you will need an adapter to split off from a molex connector or even off a sata power connector.  Look carefully at the power cable going to the hard drive.  This is where you might try a Y splitter power cable.  www.newegg.com probably has want you need.
Maybe this adapter would work.  I can't say if the connector is right for tapping on the sata drive for power or if the cable lengths are long enough.

  • New internal power supply and iMac still not powering up

I recently purchased a new internal power supply for my Intel iMac and after being installed by a local Mac repair shop it still will not power up.
Are there any other issues that could cause an iMac not to start up? The logic board?

I did try to reset the PRAM and SMC before the iMac went completely kaput. But now, even with a new power supply, it won't even turn on. Maybe my replacement power supply is damaged somehow. But the repair shop said my original power supply looked like it was in good condition. Maybe they can test the original one somehow?
So my question is still: If the power supply is good, and if the hard drive is good, but the computer will still not turn on, what is left? Could the logic board be the only remaining culprit here? Are there other factors that could cause my iMac to not start up?

  • Can I swap the power supply on my iMac G5 without any unwanted side effects?

    Hi All,
I'm new and have searched related posts, but have not found an answer to this exact question.
I have a first generation US version iMac G5. The label says that the power supply is 100-120V. Can I swap the power supply using an internationally rated power supply (100-240V) from a later version iMac G5 without any unwanted side effects? Such as the iMac G5 ALS power supply?
I live China and would prefer not to rely on an external power suppressor or convertor. I would prefer to plug and go.
    Thanks,

No such model number. Check the full model name-number, and also give us its part number, from the Toshiba label on the bottom.
To the best of my knowledge, no such thing as an 'internal power supply' on a laptop. Maybe it needs a new battery? A new motherboard? Maybe you should double check exactly what the 'Geek Squad' diagnosis was.

  • Does the Ipod touch third generation have an international power supply?

does the Ipod touch third generation have an international power supply?  Am going to travel in Europe and want to know if I need to use a convertor with it or if it has the international power supply and I can get by with the appropriate plug adapter.

They are charged via your computer's USB port. As long as you have a USB charger it will work with the Touch.

  • NEW SOUND CARD NEEDED FOR HOME PC, HOW TO CHOOSE AND INST

I am running Windows XP on Home PC bought 2003. The sound card is integral with the motherboard. Now the soundcard is not working. I have done tests, including headphones to output jack in the PC, no sound. No mute buttons are ticked. The speakers seem fine. So question is: can I buy a Creative sound card, and put it in the PC myself? I have Video Logic ZXR-500 5. Channel Speaker System. Motherboard info: Gigabyte 7VAX, KT400, DDR, 8X AGP, USB 2, LAN, 6Ch AC97. Sound Card info: Onboard 6 Channel AC97 Audio. The company who built the PC have closed down. I would like to use my PC to play CD and listen to Radio, Video cli
    ps.
I do not use it for gaming. Please let me have your advice. I could pay somebody to fix the new sound card, which I should like to buy from Creative, but also not sure which sound card to buy, or if this is possible, since the existing soundcard cannot be removed. Maybe I could try an external sound card via USB? Many thanks. Halton

    Hi Halton,
For listening to music and internet radio any of our cards should be fine, the budget cards are for instance
    Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit
    Audigy SE
    Audigy 2 Value
Regarding disabling the onboard audio, I can't give you a set of specific instructions, as this can differ per motherboard. Usually you can get into the BIOS by holding the Delete key (when specified) during the boot process. The BIOS screen is usually a blue background with white text. Onboard audio could be listed as "AC97" (which you set to enable or disable). If your PC or motherboard came with a manual, it may have some detail on how to change this.

  • [VIA] KT4AV seemingly dead after installing new sound card!

    Hi all,
I recently fitted a new sound card to my system. following this my system wouldn't start - it wouldn't even get past POST (i'm getting the 4 red LEDs on the D-Bracket for "cpu incorrectly installed or damaged"). I've takenb the card out again, and no change. i've removed and reseated the CPU, and no change. I've even changed the CPU for another that i know is working fine, and (you guessed it) no change. I've also tried resetting/clearing the CMOS (nothing).
The main thing i should stress is that my system was 100% fine before this. never locked, rebooted or crashed.
    My system is:
    KT4AV mobo
Athlon XP 2800+ (and also a Duron 900 for testing, as above)
    2 x Crucial DDR2700 512MB sticks
    Radeon 9800 Pro (Saphire)
    Q-Tec (yes - i know!) 550W PSU
Could the CPU socket have been damaged/burnt out or something?
    Hope someone can help, cheers
    Jon...

the first thing i will suggest is.... try another (better) PSU. borrow one off a friend. you may find that the board powers up again

  • INstalling new sound card on HP Pavilion a1029_uk

    Hi
Due to the issues raised in my other thread
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-PC-Sound-and-Audio/Suddenly-no-sound/td-p/607655
I've gone and bought separate sound card (not from HP admittedly) but can't get it to install as the install software keeps crashing.
Could it be that I've not totally got rid of the on board motherboard sound chips (that no longer work) are somehow interfering in the process.
I've tried to do the install both with the and without disabling the on board audio in the BIOS settings (turning this off does seem to remove everything including Sound Manager, volume control etc) but it makes no difference.
Do I need to leave this one but remove sound manager and the device drivers manually and if so, how do I do this as Sound Manager isn't included in the "Add / Remove Software" list.
So the question is: Is it possible to totally remove all systems access to the on board sound set, so I can use a PCI sound card instead.
    Technical stuff.
    HP Pavilion Model: a1029.uk...
    Windows XP (SP3)
(not working) on board sound : Integrated High Definition audio Realtek ALC 880 chipset 8-channels for Full Dolby 5.1/6.1/7.1 surround sound support with Dolby Pro Logic IIx
Trying to install Sweex SC002 5.1 PCI Sound Card
    http://www.sweex.com/en/assortiment/sound-vision/sound-cards/SC002/

Just to let everyone know I've solved this one.
It seems part of the new sound cards that hooks around the back of the PC to hold it in place is slightly too short, and/or the wrong shape, so when you put on the plate on my HP Pavillion that holds all the PCI cards in place, this pulls the soundcard slightly out of it's slot, up at the opposite end with the smaller pins so although the computer can detect there's a PCI card there, it can't tell what it is.
If I leave this plate off, and allow the hook around part to hang free, the card works.

  • 6712 New Sound Card Freezes PC

I have a KT4AV-L MS-6712 that has worked great for several years. I'm running XP SP3 with 1.5GB memory and an XP2500. All software is updated/current.
One channel of the on-board sound device has become very weak and distorted so I installed a new C-Media 8738 sound card. After installing the driver for the sound card, playing audio from WinMP, RealPlayer, YouTube, whatever - gives me a couple of seconds of audio then freezes the computer. Mouse and all are locked up.
I made sure to disable the old sound device in BIOS after removing the AC97 driver and setting the new sound card as the default device.
The driver for the new sound card is current. Nothing unusual appears in the Event Log at the time of the freeze.
What am I missing? Your ideas/suggestions are appreciated.

  • Can I use the power supply from a 1.83GHz CD mini with a new 2.53GHz mini?

Because I'm too lazy to remove the old power supply, I just want to swap out my old mini for my new one.

I did this for a month, for the same reason as you. Both power supplies are are 110 watts -- although you can double-check that, if you like.
Eventually I did make the change, I guess because I didn't want to put "new wine in old skins".

  • ATX vz µATX Power supply form factor.

There are two types of power supply (socket??) available in the market nowadays. They are ATX and µATX.
    - How are they differing from each other?
    - Are they interchangeable each other?
Say I have MSI785GM-E51 mother board which has ATX form factor while the power supply is µATX, can I use them both/powered the M3A785GM-LE/128M with those ATX power supply?
Or can I convert the µATX to be ATX form factor?

The motherboard mentioned is mATX not ATX 785GM E51. M=mATX (µATX). It's made to fit the smaller cases but can also be used in the larger mid-tower & full tower cases if that's what you have.
µATX PSU has a different size case and mounting dimensions to fit the small mini tower PC cases and also the smaller HTPC cases. Power connections are pretty much the same between the 2 but mATX generally don't have as many power plugs for HDD & ODD.
Due to physical dimensions and different mounting they are not interchangeable.
There are many variables involved in selecting a PSU beginning with what type the PC case itself requires. If you need suggestions on what to get we need to know what CPU, on-board or dedicated graphics you will use, how many HDD's.

  • Humming sound coming from power supply after new battery update?!

i've heard of MB whining.. but not power supplies...
it's new with the latest battery update.
it stops when i touch the power supply.
it also stops when the processors rev up.
    is this normal??
it's annoying as ****, and it never used to do it.
    any help will do.

    Hi, Dan:
I don't have your model PC, so here are some generic instructions.
Turn on the PC and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the F10 key to gain access to the BIOS.
There should be a menu to Save Defaults and Exit, when you go to exit the BIOS.
That is all there is to it.
I can't find your model number to give you the link to the audio driver from the support and driver page.
If you have the IDT audio chip, below is the latest driver for it.
Or let me know what model audio device you have and I'll see what I can find if it is not the IDT audio.
