Can't finish importing photos from iPhone to iPhoto

I have about 2,000 pictures in my iPhone 4.
When I try to import my photos from iPhone to iPhoto Library, it stops importing after about 250 photos. Keeps saying 1,489 remaining(something like that) photos and the picture image on your iPhoto stops or freeze there. (Normally you can see what's importing into your iPhoto)
Tried rebooting the MacPro Tower and iPhone. My computer is up to date.
I was not sure if I had corrupted photo images, so I deleted bunch of photos around where iPhoto would stall.
I have no idea what's going on. Could someone please help me?
Thanks,

Try use Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) to move the files to the Desktop and import from there.

    e) delete photos after import: NO
    f) photos imported to iphoto library

when i now go in iPhoto to my iphone device i see now a section with my already imported photos
Q: how i can delete some of this already imported Photos from iPhone with iPhoto?
    PS:
i know there is the "Image Capture" app. but i like to do this with iPhoto, because i see there the already imported photos which i can delete safely from iphone.

You'll need to create a new, temporary library and import into that with the option to delete from your iPhone. Then delete the library and go back to your current library.

  • Has anyone noticed how much slower it is to import photos from iphone to iphoto

has anyone noticed how much slower it is to import photos from iphone to iphoto in Mac OS.?

How many photos do you have in your iPhoto library? As your library grows, it will take more time to load when the app launches.Personally, I have not noticed any slowdown.
And my question was meant to find out whether you import process had gotten slower than...a year ago, a month ago, compared to other photo apps? Running Mountain Lion..since you upgraded? In the end..what? Hence, I asked.
Try being clearer next time. That way we don't have to beat around the bush when trying to help you.

  • Can't import photos from iphone to iphoto

I have an iphone 5 and so does my wife. We have an iMac with iphoto version 9.5.1. We have imported photos from our phones to iphoto many times without any problems. After we both updated our phones to iOS 8.1 iphoto will not recognize that our phones are connected to the computer. Finder also does not show that our phones are connected. iTunes still opens automatically and sync's with our phones, but I can't get any photos off our phones.
I have read several posts in the community and nothing has worked so far.
I do not see how to find my phone, or any other device, in the preferences in iphoto. iphoto does not automatically open any more when we connect our phones to the computer, but the preferences shows that iphoto should open any time a camera device is connected to the computer.
    Any ideas?

    Hi ..
You can use the Image Capture app located in your Applications folder to import photos from iOS devices to iPhoto.

  • SL & permissions when importing photos from iPhone into iPhoto

    Got a weird one here.
SL, iphoto '09, iphone os 3.
Before SL, I could import photos from the iphone into a shared iphoto library and the default file permissions on uploaded photos would be read-only to all users, and so all users of the Mac could happily see all uploaded photos.
However, since SL, the default permissions to all are No Access (changing the permissions on the underlying file sort this, but that's a tedious manual operation of course).
Strangely though if I connect a digital camera then the default permissions for photos uploaded from that are read-only to all as desired. So it does look like an issue around the combo of SL and iPhone.
Anyone got any ideas on how I can get the behaviour I want with SL?
    Thanks,
    Marlon

    HI,
    Try repairing disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Import photos from iphone to iphoto

I've been able to easily import photos from my iphone to iphoto by connecting my phone to the computer via USB cable.  However, it does not seem to be working.  I have the older version of iphoto (I believe it's version 9), and when I connect my phone it is not automatically asking if I want to import.  I've checked my preferences in iphoto, and have it set to open when a mobile device is connected.  When reading other posts similar to this issue it seems that there is a "device" section over to the left, which I do not have in my iphoto.  I know the USB cable is working because I can see my phone is connected to my itunes on my computer.  I would like to take my photos off my phone to free up some space.  Thanks!

    Hello bbb34vball,
Since that article didn't help, I would suggest trying the steps in this article next:

  • Viewing and Importing photos from iPhone to iPhoto'09

Since updating to IOS 5.1, I am unable to view or import photos from my iPhone 4 in iPhoto'09 on my iMac running OS X, v 10.6.8. Can anyone help?

Your question is probably better suited for the iPhoto forum for iLife applications. This forum is for the iPhoto application for iOS (iPhoto on your iPhone or iPad).
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/iphoto
If you repost your question there, it might be helpful to let everyone know exactly what has gone wrong. Does your iPhone not appear in the list of Devices? Does it appear but no pictures are available? It seems it used to work before you updated your iPhone to iOS 5.1... Have you run the Software Update on your Mac to make sure your copy of iPhoto is up-to-date? I have iPhoto '09 8.1.2. and I can import pictures I've taken with my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) into iPhoto but I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.3 (Lion).

  • Importing photos from iPhone to iPhoto on my MacBook Pro very slow

It's taking the best part of thirty minutes to import the photos from my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.4) into iPhoto (version 9.4.3) using my MacBook Pro (10.8.2). I've tried rebuilding the iPhoto databse which didn't have any positive effect to the process. I've got 8000 photos in iPhoto and 1700 on the iPhone. I'm doing the import everyday so there's usually not more than 20-30 photos to import, any idea why it is taking so long and what I can do to speed it up?

How full is your system drive? Can it be that you are running out of disk space?
Has it always been this slow to import from your iPhone, or only recently?
If it is a recent problem, what has changed lately? Have you installed, uninstalled, or updated any software?

  • Cannot import photos from iPhone to iPhoto

For some reason I'm unable to download photos from my iPhone to IPhoto on my MacBook Pro.  iPhoto doesn't seem to recognize it as a device conected to the computer while iTunes does so it's not giving me the option to import them.  What the heck is going on and how can I import them into iPhoto?

Yes, I did solved the problem. It was not with iPhoto but with the iTunes. Once I delete my phone profile all worked. I did not write the steps down but if you do it please post it here.

  • Importing photos from iphone to iphoto isn't working right

    Hi
Every time I try to import a photo from my iphone to iphoto I get this message below for each photo and have to push the cancel button to get the image to import. It is very frustrating when I have 100s of photos to import. any ideas what's going on? I don't have a clue why it asks for a disk or a server...
Here is the message in the window I get...
"The volume for “IMG_0007.JPG” cannot be found.
Insert the disk or connect to the server volume and wait for it to appear on the desktop, then try again."
    thx

This sometimes occurs if you’re importing a file into iPhoto and there’s already a file there with the same name. Digital cameras can produce many, many files with the same name over their lifetime, so it’s not uncommon to have several files called IMG_00543.JPG, for instance. Now you want to import one also called this.
What happens is that iPhoto compares the two files to check for duplicates. However, if iPhoto cannot find the file already in the database for comparison, then you get this message. It suggests that your database is damaged because iPhoto has lost track of this (or these) similarly named files.
A simple test is to rename the file you are importing - just add a character - IMG_00543a.JPG for instance. If this then imports with no issue then you might consider rebuilding your library:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Importing Photos From iPhone to iPhoto - Lost Photos

Just wanted to mention that I lost about 10 pictures during an import to iPhoto. When I plugged in the iPhone, iPhoto popped up, as normal. I chose "Select all" and when it was done, I chose "Delete files" from phone. Then the progress bar got stuck on "Finishing import". For several minutes I let it go.. nothing. I opened the Force Quit window and it showed iPhoto was unresponsive so I force quit.
None of the files ever made it onto my iPhoto. Half of those files are gone on my iPhone, half remained. I reset the iPhone and plugged it back in. iPhoto says there are 0 photos on the phone even though there are obviously some.

I had the same problem this morning. iPhoto hung up while "Finishing" an import of photos from the iPhone, and after force quitting iPhoto, more than half my photos failed to show up either on the iPhone or in iPhoto. After reading this topic, I figured the pictures had to be somewhere, so I opened a finder window, clicked "All Images" under "Search For" in the left-hand bar and there they were, apparently filed in "Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Data/2009/Oct 31, 2009". I copied the pictures I had "lost" to the desktop and re-imported them with no problems. There's probably an easier way to do it, but that's what worked for me, and I'm happy to have my photos back.

  • Importing photos from iPhone to iphoto

    Hi,
I have over 1000 photos on my iphone. I would like to import them to my mac book pro. When I connect my phone to my Macbook and then open iPhoto it shows my phone under devices and just says loading in the top right hand corner. Since I have so many photos the Genius' at the Apple store said it would take a long time to load them up.
But how do I know if it is actually loading the photos, or if it is just frozen?
Here is a screenshot, I am used to atleast some form of loading animation. It just says loading in the top right hand corner.
It has been two hours, is it actually doing anything?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Importing Photos from iPhone to iPhoto on MacBook

I usually plug in my iphone 5s (with ios7) to my Macbook Pro, to not only sync it/back it up to iTunes, but also to import photos that I have taken on my iPhone to my iPhoto library on the Mackbook. This process usually starts automatically once my iPhone is plugged in, however lately this has not been happening. I plug in my iPhone and it syncs up fine with iTunes, but iPhoto does not automatically open like it used to & even when I manually open iPhoto, my photos are not importing from the iPhone. Does anyone out there have any advice as to how I should correct this? Thanks!

    Hey PM23_,
Thanks for the question. I understand that iPhoto is not automatically opening when you connect your iPhone. Let’s check your preferences to make sure that this behavior is configured correctly:
    iPhoto '11: General preferences

    Connecting camera opens
Choose the application that opens when you connect your camera to your computer.
Additionally, if you continue to have issues, see this article:
