Can't get a handle on the Digisnif Driver"
Has anybody had this message displayed before?

That is not very helpful!!
Uhh, if you have a problem with Matrox hardware i think indeed it is helpful to point you in the right direction, iow to the Matrox User Forum. I did not do that to offend you.
Or maybe i shall re-phrase what i wrote to make it more clear:
...search for an answer in their User Forum or create a new thread in their User Forum about your issue: http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support
Point being, if you search and/or post in the Matrox User Forum about the well known digisnif-issue you will get the help you need to solve your issue. If you mention what Matrox hardware you do use it would have been easier to find a more detailed answer, but you did not and i did at least try to help you. I think that's helpful.

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
This handy article from Apple explains how
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support''
don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

    From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Power Adapter
and uncheck the box labeled Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible, if it's checked.
If the drive has more than one interface (USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt, eSATA), try one of the other interfaces.
Check that the data cable is securely inserted at both ends.
    Try a different cable.
If you're connecting the drive through a hub, connect it directly to a built-in port on the Mac.
If you're connecting it directly, try a different port.
Disconnect all other devices on the bus, or as many as possible.
Test the drive with another Mac. Test another drive with this Mac.
If the drive is bus-powered, but has an AC adapter, connect the adapter.
Start up in Recovery mode and launch Disk Utility. Is the drive recognized?
Start up in Safe Mode and test.
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If the drive doesn't work under any of the above conditions, and if another drive does work with the same Mac, then the drive is malfunctioning.

Where and what kind (brand) of external, mobil hard drive can I get to back up my PowerBook G4 without the Intel processor?  I have 93GB of Memory and operating system OS X 10.5.8. Thank you.

Gee, I hope I understand this right, you can get a Terabyte from Walmart for around $120.00.
There is one major problem with the drives you get from just walking into a Walmart or Costco or Best Buy: They are usually one interface only, and that interface is USB. That's not a problem for new Macs with USB 3, where mass-market USB 3 drives are a great and cheap solution.
But for regular transfers with older Macs, I have always found great benefit in using a drive with multiple interfaces that bridge old and new Macs and PCs. The USB version in the PowerBook, USB 2.0, has always been a slow solution. It's slower than FireWire 400, FireWire 800, and Gigabit Ethernet. For my regular backups on G3/G4 Macs and most MacBook Pros, FireWire or Gigabit Ethernet have always been the way to go because they just save so much time over USB 2.0. Maybe not for small incremental daily backups, but when moving large collections of music/videos/photos, or especially when migrating to newer equipment.
That is why like the others here, I greatly prefer the OWC drives with multiple interfaces. The slow, awful USB ports work well for old FireWire-less Macs and for PCs, while FireWire 800 and eSATA get full-disk backups and mass transfers done in a fraction of the time as the poor soul waiting for USB 2.0 to finish. (Today's multi-TB disks can take hours to copy even with FireWire 800.)
If the priority is to save money over saving time, a cheap USB drive is fine, and USB 3 will be much faster than FireWire when you get a new Mac. But I've long valued the ability of a multi-interface drive from OWC to plug into any Mac or PC put in front of me and be able to transfer data using whatever the fastest option is.
I wouldn't worry about formatting drives from non-Mac stores since that takes about 10 seconds in Apple Disk Utility.

  • How can I get a replacement internal DVD drive?

I bought a refurbished Toshiba P55t-A5202 a few months ago.  The internal DVD drive seems to be failing and doesn't always recognize dual-layer DVDs.  Some DVDs recognize and play fine.  Others aren't even detected and the system thinks no disk is in the drive.  I would like to replace the opical drive.  I am comforable opening up the sytem and swapping the drive, I just don't know where to buy the replacement part.
Does anyone know who to contact about getting a replacement internal DVD drive?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Which exact iBook model is it?
You can choose from this list:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ibook/index-ibook.html
Apple may not have the replacement discs at this point, but it's worth a try. You could try giving Apple a call and see if they have them available. If they do, they will send them to you for a fee.
You will need the serial number of the iBook when you call.

    Good luck.

  • How can I get Time Machine to eject drive

Since I installed Mavericks, I can't eject my 1 TB Seagate external Drive that I use for Time Machine. I get a message that it is in use by another program and can't be ejected. I can only eject by "force ejecting". Drive is connected via USB. Time machine appears to be working ok, I just can't easily eject the drive, which makes me a little nervous. If I turn off Time machine and then plug in my drive then it ejects just fine. If I mount the drive with time machine turned on and then turn it off, the disk has to be force ejected. If I have TM turned on when I mount the disk and it is turned on when I try to eject, it has to be force ejected. Any suggestions?

Why won't Apple deal with this?  It apparently has been going on in other versions as well.  What a pain!

  • Can't get some LCDS ES Test Drive samples to work in Tomcat

I can't get many of the Sample Test Drive examples included
with Livecycle Data Services ES 2.5.1 to work properly with Tomcat
(both version 5.5.25 and 6.0.14). I've tried both on Windows XP SP2
and Mac OSX (10.4), but I get the same errors on both platforms. I
can however get the Sample Test Drive from LCDS to work fine with
the JRun server on Windows (included with the Windows version of
LCDS). I've setup the JRun server in a similar fashion as Tomcat
(see my steps below) and everything works fine. I haven't been as
successful with Tomcat. Can anyone point out where I'm going wrong
    with my Tomcat setup?
    I am using Java 1.5.0.
Here are the error messages I get when trying out the LCDS
    Test Drive examples on Tomcat:
Sample 1 - Accessing data using an HTTP service (after
    pressing the "Get Data" button):

    at mx.messaging::MessageResponder/status()
    Samples 2, 6 and 7 work fine.
Here are the steps I took to setup Tomcat. I've tried this on
    both MacOSX and WinXP:
    1. Download and extract Tomcat from tomcat.apache.org (I've
tried both version 5.5.25 and 6.0.14)
    2. Install Livecycle Data Services ES 2.5.1 and copy
    flex.war, flex-admin.war and samples.war to [tomcat-root]/webapps/
    3. Prepare tomcat for Livecycle Data Services by following
    the instructions here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/es/lcds_installation.html
3a. Add Java Open Transaction Manager (JOTM) from
    http://jotm.objectweb.org/.
Copy the JAR files from [jotm-root]/lib to
    [tomcat-root]/common/lib/.
3b. Create a context file for your web application and
register JOTM using the Transaction element, e.g. for the samples
    WAR create a [tomcat-root]/conf/Catalina/localhost/samples.xml file
    and add the following lines:
    <Context docBase="${catalina.home}/webapps/samples"
    privileged="true"
    antiResourceLocking="false" antiJARLocking="false">
    <Transaction
    factory="org.objectweb.jotm.UserTransactionFactory"
    jotm.timeout="60"/>
    </Context>
3c. Increase the maximum memory to at least 512MB. For
Tomcat, this is achieved by specifying the maximum heap size for
the JVM in the JAVA_OPTS variable in [tomcat-root]/bin/catalina.sh:
    -Xmx512m
    4. Run the tomcat server ([tomcat-root]/bin/startup.sh for
Mac OS or [tomcat-root]\bin\startup.bat for WinXP) which extracts
the 3 .war files into their respective directories in
    [tomcat-root]/webapps/
    5. Goto the Samples Test Drive in your web browser at
    http://localhost:8080/samples/testdrive/

    Thanks Leif,
Yes, set it to the location jndi path.
A piece of info is that the 903 oc4j release notes states that global conn pooling doesn't
work. Infering that the j2ee/home/config/data-sources.xml data sources aren't pooled or ??
I just tested so called local connection pooling, where I edited the data-sources.xml that
gets packaged in the ear, to include the min/max params and re-ran my test.
Still, the AM creates a new conn, it's to a new socket, and closes the conn when done. Causing
each conn to not be pooled, rather opened then closed to the DB box. As verified with lsof and
netstat, checking the ephemeral port # on the DB box side, always changes, meaning it's a
new socket and not an old pooled conn socket.
    ???? What the heck??
Surely if the AM conn check out / return code works properly, OC4J's pooling JDBC driver would
pool and not close the socket??
Has anywone gotten JDBC Datasource connections in BC4J to actually be pooled under OC4J??
Since I couldn't get this to work in my early 902 oc4j testing, and now can't get it to work
    still under 903 OC4J, either it's my config or BC4J AM's code or OC4J?
Any thoughts on how to figure out what's not configed correctly or has a bug?
    Thanks, curt

I have tried to removed the drives between my tryouts by using:
    # pacman -Rnsc xf86-video-<driver>
Running the newest Xorg without xorg.conf but have tried a few with xorg.conf (Xorg -configure) and even hwd -x and used both the vesa and intel output...

I bought a product that had a smaller than normal disc with drivers on it.   I put it into the disc drive to install it.  The computer didn't recognize it as being in there, and I can't get it out now.   Help!!!

You're not supposed to put small discs into a slot loading drive. You might have to visit an Apple Store to get it out.

    Hey,
In your case i would contact Toshiba memory support. You can give them a call or write an e-mail, have a look on Toshiba memory page:
    http://www.toshiba-memory.com/en/service_support.html
Have you created the password using U3T software? On the same Toshiba page there is a FAQ article how to remove U3T Launchpad software.

  • Can't get a handle to the text input bean I just created

I create text input bean this way
    OAMessageTextInputBean bigBean = (OAMessageTextInputBean) pageContext.getWebBeanFactory().createWebBean(pageContext,OAWebBeanConstants.MESSAGE_TEXT_INPUT_BEAN,"BIGBEAN");
and right after this I do
    OAMessageTextInputBean bigBeanJustCreated = (OAMessageTextInputBean) webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("BIGBEAN");
    It is not found!
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,

    Sumit,
Thank you very much for quick response.
    Your suggestion did work.
Could you please clarify something for me - while working on the problem I realized that I can add text input bean to either PageLayoutBean or message Component bean? Is this correct?
And one more query if you please - how can I get all the beans(text input beans) under a parent messageComponentbean?
    Should I say something like
For example, in previous example the beans that I am creating are under messageComponent bean
    OAMessageComponentLayoutBean componentBean = (OAMessageComponentLayoutBean) webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("MainRN");
    Enumeration e = pageContext.getWebBeanValueNames(componentBean);...

  • Can't get OS on exterior FW drive to boot after restore OR archive & instal

I had a crash on one exterior FW drive that had my backup 10.3.3 OS on it (just used it for emergencies and for those applications that couldn't handle anything higher.) Did a complete restore using retrospect and all files appear to be intact, but the drive won't boot. I tried:
Checking and unchecking "ignore permissions on this volume"; that had helped with the original crashed drive in the past to get IT to boot; no change.
Tried booting from the original Panther install disks and repaired permissions on the new drive with restored OS; no boot.
Tried booting from the original Panther install disks, with the intention of attempting an archive and install of the non-booting OS; installer WOULD NOT let me install on that disk, red exclamation mark across disk and "continue" button ghosted out.
Tried checking "ignore permissions on this volume" once again; tried installer once again... would not let me install on the restored drive.
The new drive is a FW 500 gig drive; could that have something to do with it? The installer was willing to let me install on my other external 450 gig FW drive, but I don't want the OS on that system, I want to update the restored OS on the 500 gig drive so I can boot from it like the drive I replaced.
Is there a way to "bless" the OSX install on the 500 gig drive and get it to boot without archive & install? Or if not, to get archive & install to install it on that disk!?!?!?!?
    Thanks!
    Leslie Bell

That would have worked, but it also would have cloned over all the library and application additions to the 10.3.9 OS. What I basically wanted was a nice simple clean 10.3.3 OS install that I could use in emergency cases (secondary boot drive.)
What I did was finally shift all my data around, plus relied on backups, and just formatted and installed the basic Panther OS from my original discs on the 400 gig hard drive that would let me install it on.
And then put all the data I had to juggle around back... still doing that as a matter of fact and will be doing it all night long (had one big video editing project that has to be copied back over.) Not to mention updating various program data new locations.
But I have the backup OS installed and working now.
I'm not sure, but possibly the reason it wouldn't install on the 500 gig hard drive is it's an external Seagate, with a backup feature if you push the on button while it's on (hold to shut off.) Maybe something about that implementation of that feature made it impossible to install on that drive. So I made it my basic data drive, and turned the second Iomega 400 gig drive into a re-installed clone of the Iomega 250 gig drive that crashed.
Only took five days, but next time I'll know to install the OS first and not just try to copy over an entire drive via retrospect backups, because now I know that won't boot. (From a USB installed backup drive, no less!!!)
    Thanks!

  • Old ibook has died; Can I get my thesis off hard-drive and on to macbook?

    Howdy,
My trusty old ibook has finally died (which is understandable; it is some six years old and has been around the world with me, and has served me well)... however, i didn't have the foresight to get some very important files (my thesis among them) backed up elsewhere...
When I attempt to turn on the ibook, the screen stays black, i hear one or two chirps, and then nothing... if i put my ear close, i can hear the extremely soft sound of something spinning (the harddrive, i assume).
I have attempted to access the ibook harddrive by connecting it to my new macbook via firewire and starting up the ibook while pressing "T", but to no avail; it does not appear on the macbook as a disk, or anything at all.
Is there anything else I can try to access the important data on my ibook, and transfer files onto my macbook? Thank you so much for any help and advice... it will be much appreciated!
    love,
    dewfall

    Dewfall:
Ronda's suggestion to try Disk Warrior is a good idea. Actually there are three excellent directory maintenance and repair utilities (including Disk Warrior): Tech Tool Pro, Disk Warrior and DriveGenius
These all do a great job of repairing directories and have revived many a seemingly dead HDD. TechTool Pro and DriveGenius do a number of other things, and even they you purchase one of these and it does not work, it is a good tool to have in your toolkit. I own both TechTool Pro and Disk Warrior and use one or the other at least monthly.
However, your main concern at the moment is to rescue your data, and if the drive is viable at all, placing it in an enclosure and connecting to another mac will help. The directions linked in my earlier post are very explicit and helpful. The enclosure linked there is the best price I have seen anywhere, and it does have the more reliable Oxford 911+ chipset. If you decide to remove the HDD here are few tips you may find helpful:
    • Print out the ifixit directions as well as the screw guide ahead of time.
    • Be sure you have the right tools. You don't want to damage the screw heads or you may never get them out. And the Torx 8 screw driver is critical.
    • I use small medicine cups one for the screws in each step. I nest them so that the last ones out and the first to go back in are on top. You can use an ice cube tray, egg carton, dixie cups etc. (Some users report cutting up the screw guide and placing the applicable section in each container.)
    • Be very careful pulling out leads. Hold the lead as close to the plug as possible and wiggle (the plug ) to loosen its grip. Don’t hold the wires and pull as that can damage the cable, or worse, in some instances pull the wires out of the plug. Use needle nose pliers if you can access the plug, or nudge the plug with a small instrument to help loosen its grip.
    • Use force gently in removing parts. Separating upper and lower case takes some doing. Use a plastic tool (spudge) so as not to leave marks.
    • Refer to the screw guide when reassembling computer. Putting longer screws in the wrong place can perforate the circuit board.
Please do post back should you have further questions or comments.
    Cheers
