Can't get a rented movie to open
I Downloaded a rented movie from the iTunes Store, when I go to play the movie I get a black screen. I have the controls to start, rewind, sound etc. have a list of chapters, but the movie does not play.

Try this. Swipe to the right from your home screen to bring up the search feature. Type in the name of one of the movies. If the move appears in the search - tap it to begin playing. Let it play for a few minutes. Then hit done. Go to the videos app and see if the movies are there now.
You can also look in the iPod app and see if the movies show up there. If so, tap on the movie to play. -
How can i get a rented movie off my computer onto my apple tv?
I downloaded a movie rental to my Mac computer right before it crashed. I need to take it to the GeniusBar but do not live close to a store. I'll take it in another week. I am wondering how can I watch my rental on my AppleTV without having access to iTunes on my Mac computer? It should be connected to my account somehow.
Contact the developers site about uninstall instructions, some need to run a program to remove stuff it installed, others are self contained and can be dragged and dropped into the Trash.
The developer is the BEST source of how to uninstall their own programs.
DO NOT use AppDelete type programs, there are just too many changes and files to catch them all and may delete a wanted and needed file by accident. -

I can't transfer a rented movie from my iMac to my iPad. It get the following error message- the rental could not be transferred to the iPad because it has already been transferred to another computer or device. I have not transferred it to anywhere device.

I rented a movie and moved it to my ipad. My ipad was stolen the next day before I ever watched the movie. Is there a way to get the rented movie back to my computer so I can watch it?

You don't use Airplay. You set up Home Sharing on both and under the Computers section of AppleTV you'll then find it under Movies (or Rentals if rented), assuming it's in a compatible format.

Apple support says they've been having trouble with their servers. You might have heard that on other threads. Advised me to try 'restoring' the Apple TV from General settings using both an ethernet cable and over the wireless with the same result. When that didn't work, asked me to wait a couple of days and try it again.
Sorry, but I can't help you with the rental issue. I've not tried that yet.

You may want to try resetting Winsock as a temporary fix.
1. To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Right click All Programs and choose Accessories > Command Prompt. Choose to open as an administrator.
Windows XP: Click Start > Run and type in cmd.
2. Enter the following command:
netsh winsock reset
3. Restart the computer and test the issue.
Note: If the issue returns, third-party software may be reinserting the LSP. -

Did you rent the film directly on the iPhone ? I've never rented films, but from : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1415 :
You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device.
If you've rented a film on your computer's iTunes then you should be able to sync it to your iPad from your computer's iTunes via the Movies tab that shows on the right-hand side of iTunes when you've selected the iPad 'device' on its left-hand side -
