Can't get a wifi connection

Can anyone help me. I am struggling to get a internet connection on my ipad 2. My home wifi is working (mac book working fine), but despite my ipad showing i am connected to my home wifi, Safari says "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the inbternet". I have tried resetting my network settings and also rebooting, but am still struggling. anyone out there help me please ?

Despite the WiFi sign you may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address when the iPad requested it. To check on this use Settings. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address shown there starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix for this can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power to the router for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

    Yes, I did try to go on my settings>wifi and was waiting for any wifi signals to pick up, but nothing shows up. But on my PC I get a whole list of networks to choose from. Regarding my neighbor, I already have her password that is why I was able to get it on my PC, the problem is that the mini Ipad is not picking any signal neither can it locate me when I go to maps.

    Ok, so, a couple of things:  Denisefromwaleska and I have the exact same size/type/color iPod.  Now wishing I'd bought the black one maybe...
    Second, Airport is an Express and I have a second one that I carry with me when I travel.  Tried to connect my Airport Express to the internet and could not although the iPod did recognize the router and tried to connect to the internet for some time, unlike my previous problem.  Updated firmware on my travel router, still could not connect to the internet.  Going to try to set up a manual Static IP on the travel router here in a few and conect through it although I predict the problem will persist. Back on the Christmas Present Airport Express router, it is back in play and working fine for all devices save the iPod.

    An 'uninterruptible power supply' that automatically steps in and takes your computer
    off the grid momentarily, will work in cases of brown-out (under-power) & surge (spike)
    and it does so at a fast rate. Most of these also offer a way to customize sensitivity to
    a certain degree, depending on model and should there be a valid reason to do so.
    An old-school surge protector, even if it has a few fancy LEDs, is no protection. And
    for less than a replacement logic board or an hour of authorized Apple repair, the UPS
    is a fairly good investment. Backup battery is user-replaceable in the better made units.
    Most of them offer extra ports that do not use the battery-backup power feature. If you
    need to have more items run when the power switches up/down or out, you'd need to
    consider a larger capacity backup power unit. In some instances, the makers of these
    (for a time, perhaps even now) did caution users to not install more than one UPS per
    room when the same leg may have inadequate grounding, since these can dump the
    excess surge power from several different UPS units and overload the ground.
    That said, the gamble is yours. I've found to have and use these is some protection
    and when away from the computer. Most settings for controlling them appear in OS X.
    No additional software is required. Other settings may be on the UPS front panel.

        Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you had problems in the are you're in AkJohnDye. I checked your coverage and I do see we have an extended 4G coverage. This means you're able to use your phone but it needs to be activated in a 4G LTE Verizon Wireless coverage zone. I apologize.

    If you have a wired connection to the iMac and you are asking about using the iMac for the Internet connection for the iPad, you will need to use Internet Sharing on the Mac.

  • NB305 - Cannot get a WiFi connection

    Bought a new NB305 today. Set it up (seemingly) OK, but I cannot get a WiFi connection.It recognises my home network, but will not connect. Troubleshooter etc. cannot solve it.
    I can connect using a T-Mobile dongle though.
    The netbook is running Windows 7 Starter and I have a Belkin F5D8632-4 v1 router. Is there possibly a compatibility issue between Windows 7 and the router? I have checked the wireless drivers on the netbook and both are latest versions.
    Having spent the last hour or so searching through this forum and others, and tried various things I am now at a loss.
    Any ideas?

    In my opinion there shouldnt be a compatibility issue between Windows 7 and your router. Normally you can connect to router with every operating system.
    So it would be interesting to why you cant connect. Are you prompted for WLAN password and are you using the right one?
    Maybe you did activate the MAC address filter on router so you have to allow the MAC address of NB305 firstly before you can connect.
    Have you tried a firmware update for router?

    I have been on the phone for Apple since 5:30 Eastern Time today. We are still on the phone with them. It is 10:14 PM. We are going to get a new phone because the ios6 has major problems! The wifi connectivity is a serious problem. Apple is aware of it. More people need to do something about it. I am willing to start a class action suit against them. I have means to an attorney pro bono. If you are having problems using your iphone 4 or 4s with wifi and ios6...I suggest you spend time calling a senior advisor and get a new phone sent to you. They know they messed up but they can't fix it.

    I assume that you cannot connect to the internet because you don't sync to WiFi. Perform the following steps in the order listed and see if you can connect then.
    Go to Settings>WiFi>Tap the blue arrow next to your network name>Tap Forget this network in the next screen.
    Reset your router. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.
    Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
    Reset your iPad. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
    Go to Settings>WiFi>Tap your network name, enter your password, tap Join.

    I'm not computer literate. I'm told this has to do with the airport sharing but it looks to me like the airport sharing has to do with reading OTHER wifi connections on my iMac. I don't need that. The iMac is connected to the internet just fine. My iBook and my iPhone don't get the wifi connection that it used to get and I can't figure out why not.     More information would be helpful. Your iMac is connected to your ISP's service with Ethernet? And you are sharing that internet connection for the iMac with other Apple devices from the iMac's AirPort card? Do I have that correct?
    If so have you shared that internet connection according to Apple's protocol for doing so?
    My Mac mini is connected to the internet by Ethernet cable to my ISP's gateway. I am sharing the Ethernet connection to two iPod Touches via AirPort from my Mac mini. This is how Apple says to configure a Mac to share the connection;
    1. In Sys Prefs/Sharing highlight Internet Sharing (do not check the box)
    2. Share the connection from: Ethernet (from the dropdown menu)
    3. To computers using: AirPort (check the little box)
    4. Press the button AirPort Options...
    5. Name the Network
    6. Use Automatic for the channel or assign a specific channel
    7. Encrypt the network with one of the choices
    8. For sharing with a non-Apple device; PC laptop, MP3 player, etc, you must use only a 5 alphanumeric character, 40-bit WEP password or only a 13 alphanumeric character 128-bit WEP password. That does not apply if you are setting up sharing for Apple devices only.
    9. Press OK
    10. Check the box for Internet Sharing
    11. Answer any dialog boxes that pop up
    Any other forms of configuring sharing the ethernet over AirPort ususally results in various issues.

    If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar.  Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar

  • I can't get a database connection.

    Background: I've already built two sites with databases using DW CS6, PHPMySQL, and the same hosting company, so I know they allow remote connections. (I'm developing using the remote host because I've never found a tutorial for how to move it all from local XAMPP to my host - but hey, it's been working fine so far.)
    I set up the database using CPanel Databases, added the user and password, no problem. Went into PHP MySQL and added a table, logged out and back in, the table is there as defined.
    In DW, I double-checked the testing server, tested the connection, and it connected successfully.
    Then I opened a page for editing and added a database connection (all as I had done on the previous two sites that work fine). I named the connection, entered the user, the password and tried to SELECT a database. No luck. HTTP Error 404. I manually added the database (the only one) and clicked test. Again no luck. HPPT Error 404.
    I double checked the testing server, double checked the DB information, and nothing seems to work.
    Any clue what I'm doing wrong? Thanks so much if you can help.

    Okay, this is really getting weird. As a typcial computer nerd, I know there are many roads to success, so if one doesn't work, try another.
    Trying a different solution, I opened a test.php page and wrote the following code:

    I went to the DW MbrConnect01.php file (the name of the CONNECTION file that Dreamweaver creates when I tried to make the connection through DW), and verified the database name, user name, and password were correct -- I copied and pasted them from the code above to make absolutely certain there were no transcription errors. Here's that file:

    Yes, I checked the server using an FTP browser for the presence of the required files, and they are there.
    Does anyone have a clue what's going on here? I would absolutely love to use DW's DB automation tools, but none of them will work if I can't get a DW connection to work.
    I notice that my code uses mysql_connect while the DW-generated code uses mysql_pconnect (which is deprecated), could that be the culprit? How do I fix it if so?
