I used to be able access accented letters by holding down that key, now it's gone. I have touched a thing in my settings bar changing my mouse settings. How do I get it back? Help me please?

Go to Settings>General>Keyboard>Add Keyboard and add the emoji keyboard. Then you access that keyboard by tapping on the globe icon to the bottom left of the keyboard area and it will toggle between your standard keyboard and the emoji and you click away!

But I have found that in most countries in the Middle East, there is no online Apple Store, per se. Apple uses distribution, and it is up to the re-seller as to whether they support online ordering.
If you are in the United States, you might want to try an Apple Store location to see how you might special order for your requirements.

Help...Can't Get German ß (Eszett) to display anymore...

I'm American and used to using a QWERTY keyboard, but I like to do some occasional writing in German. On my PC, the added alphabet characters are easy with an alternate keyboard layout selected.
I got an iPod touch recently and with (U.S.) English selected as the language I was happily able to select the extra German letters of ä,ü,ö, and ß by holding after a tap the a,u,o, or s respectively and then sliding to the select the variant I wanted. Everything was perfect...
A couple of days ago, I upgraded to OS 4.2.1 (I had 4.1.something before) and now it seems the "ß" option has vanished (ä,ö,ü are still available as before). The only way to get the ß back is to change to "German" under Settings-General-International-Language. Aghhh.
Can somebody who *hasn't upgraded* confirm that holding a lowercase (it has to be lowercase I think) "s" gives an option to pick "ß" ? And can somebody else who has "upgraded" to 4.2.1 confirm that indeed the β has now disappeared, i.e. holding the lowercase "s" offers nothing additional.
Also, am I correct in assuming that the "Hardware Keyboard Layout" only concerns an external keyboard and not the softkey keyboard that pops up on the iPod Touch itself? I tried tinkering with those settings, but they don't seem to do anything for me (no external keyboard).

Thanks for the kind responses. Yeah, I know I can hook up an external wireless keyboard, but once I start doing that, it's no longer iPod sized... I might as well have an iPad. My "need" (and it isn't a true need, just an annoying downgrade in functionality) is for doing short notes, posting to German friends' Facebook pages and the like. If I'm doing some serious writing, it's at a laptop.
Tom suggested selecting the German keyboard layout (but keep QWERTY). I actually already tried that (and tried again just now just to re-check), but the problem with that is that unless you keep "globing" back and forth between US& German keyboard layouts, the German keyboard screws up the auto-correct bigtime and amusingly capitalizes all (or almost all) nouns even in English words (sometimes I'm mixing languages). I guess I could turn off auto-correct as well, but it's probably not worth it for a minor gripe. I just wanted to see if I was crazy or if the "ß" did indeed go away for the U.S. keyboard. Looks like it did, which is annoying... not sure what it was hurting having it there....
I guess I'll act like the Swiss and use "ss" as a replacement.

Can´t access letters on virtual keyboard (anymore)!

Hello to all.
I am new to the iPodTouch (16GB), i just got it today.
And i experience the first problem:
-i can´t access the letters S E Z from the virtual keyboard (anymore).
-at first it was working, later, after some hours it happened.
Has anyone some ideas what goes wrong?
Also i get sometimes poor response from the screen, things are really slow.
iPodTouch came with FW 1.01
I upgraded to FW 1.1.1.

I seem to be in the same boat as you.
I'm new to the whole Apple thing, but decided to give the iPod touch a go.
Unfortunately the system worked great for about 30 minutes then the screen quit responding. Same issues as others have reported - slider bar works but takes 10-15 tries to get anything else to respond. Resets work for 30 seconds or so then back to square one.
Gonna return it tomorrow and stick with what has worked for the last several years. I'll keep my cheap mp3 player that actually works and my $400.

I assume i have to simultaneously press the "control, shift and zero" keys - right?

Updated iphone 4s and now I can't get my phone to work anymore?

I have the iphone 4s and I backed it up to Itunes and then retored and updated everything and now I can only get my iphone on and it keeps asking to restore it over and over again with Itunes, I hve restarted both my Mac and my Iphone and still can't get past this part.

Can't get cgi.remote_user from cfc anymore

I'm having trouble getting cgi.remote_user in cfc not
returning to Flex in a cfc to return to Flex.
The cfc returns the cgi.remote_user when invoked from a cfm
page. But from Flex just "" empty. I can access
the cfc from Flex, just can't get any cgi vars.
It use to work from the Flex app using a RemoteObject until
the other day, I had to reinstall the OS, IIS and Coldfusion again.
OS: Window Server 2003
IIS : 6
ColdFusion: 8
Don't know if I'm missing a IIS setting or if it was
something left over for an old Fash Remoting or CF setup that was
allowing this to work.

The CFC has a login query that uses the CGI.REMOTE_USER variable.

Anyway, if I invoke it using a CFM file, I get a good result,
as expected. But my Flex app see's nothing when I run it. All the
other queries work just fine. If I replace the #cgi.remote_user#
with actual text, like esc\mcneelg it works fine.

I have a BB Curve 8520 ... and I'm using my gmail account as mail on my bb - today i changed my gmail password though and can't get any more messages into my gmail account any longer now (WTF did i change my password for ???). I tried to add my gmail account as my bb says that an email address does not currently exists for my bb device ... so when i try to add my gmail account and select 'gmail' in my email setup, add my email address and password it says ! Update failed ...
Anyone any solutions to this problem pls ...

If you select a mailbox, you should get an Edit button (easier to see in landscape mode). Clicking the button will provide you with check circles for the messages. You also get Delete and Move buttons at the bottom. Check the messages you want to move and then navigate to the mailbox you want to drop them into. I think as long as you can navigate to a mailbox you can move the messages to it.
In the Mac Mail application and probably Outlook on the Windows side, you also setup rules to move messages to specific mailboxes. If the mailboxes are stored on the server, then you can have the sorting done on the server and they should appear that way on the iPad. If your later messages do not show up, you may need to have the iPad app pulled down more messages until they are all showing.

I just bought a new mac mini, wireless keyboard and trackpad. Do I still need a wired keyboard and mouse to get the thing set up? Trackpad seems to be working as I can move around the screen but I can't click where I need to click to move onto the next step...
