Can't get anything to work right

I just got Logic for a new Powermac G5, and nothing is working right. While my speakers are working, audio plays back but doesn't come through the speakers.
I'm not veryu interested in the MIDI options, I don't do any work with MIDI and want to use the program to record acoustic instruments, running them through a mixer then into the computer. I can't find any way to record these with Logic, and the "arm to record" button won't show up ANYWHERE.
If anyone has any help on either of these, please let me know. I need a convincing reason to even keep this software....

Album artwork.... just can't get it to work right.

I've searched google, I've searched this support community and I've just not been able to come up with an answer.
My album artwork just won't stay put. Some of my albums have artwork and some don't. I've done the "right click" and "get album art work". I've downloaded an app to find art work for the drag and drop method into the "Now Playing" window but it just gets eaten by Itunes (it appears in the window and magically disappears). I've even done the "get info" on multiple tracks and drag and drop into the "artwork" window of the info pane and while it sticks and stays put nothing happens when I press ok only to reopen the info pane ( "get info" on multiple tracks) and it's as if I've done absolutely nothing. My permissions are fine. My music files are a mixed bunch of MP3 and WAV but this isn't a factor as some MP3's have artwork and some don't, as well as my WAV's.
I've searched in and out, high and low but I've just not come up with anything that gets this in order. The problem isn't getting the artwork it's getting Itunes (10.5.1) to attach it to the albums and display it. My Mac OS X is Lion 10.7.2. Can anyone help?

Looks like it does have something to do with WAV format. I got the missing artwork on the MP3's working (by simply dragging and dropping...don't know how that didn't work before) but it's true that the WAV format does not support artwork (as stated several time here in this support community). What threw a brick in all my thinking is that some of my WAV's do have artwork. After some searching though I deduced that the WAV's with artwork showing are albums you can obtain from the itunes store while those that you can't don't show. Even some of the albums that I I copied in WAV that you can obtain from the Itunes store but have minor differences don't show artwork (eg. itunes sells the extended track album while i have the original length album)
I find this rather silly to be honest since there is a work around. I guess the question now is, where is itunes storing the artwork for the WAV files that do show artwork and can I tap into that so it does show for those WAV's missing the artwork?

Artist spent alot and can not get anything to work

I thought it would be strait forward; but it is more like a backwards tango!
OK, I can't get the media once down loaded from my cam to load into final cut.
I have a JVC GZ-HD7U that records in Mpeg2 and when I down load from the cam to my desk it reads Mov00?.TOD. When I import this to Final it reads " unknown file format ( I may be off on the wordage;I am bit madddd at the moment)
Maybe there is some one out there using the same set up as me? What would be cool, is you have a easy answer.
My new MacBookpro has Quicktime and Jvc I did their thing to this plus Final cut offered a down load of it. You would think after all this and how much I have spent I could take over the world with this program; but oh no, I even tried ctrl clicking the media I downloaded in Quicktime (the only place I could view it but do nothing with it) and saved it as a QT movie.
Then after converting it to quick time media; but no where near the 3.6 GB I downloaded, Did it load into final cut. Then once there no image, nothing, zip, nota, ssooooo confused.!!!
I have watched the dvd tutorial and read the pdf etc. Still lost
If any one can help or direct me in there right direction, I would be relatively thank for a long time!!
Why doesn't final cut load and read TOD or work with QT from it. What a waist. I am not any where near Rich and could return this all now due to the way I feel and i am in my 30 day period with it all.....a darn shame

Unfortunately, Ian is correct. Your options at this point are
1) return the camera for a tape-based one (best option if you can)
2) search the discussions at length to see if anyone else has found a workaround
3) buy iLife 08 and use iMovie to import your clips, then transfer them from iMovie to FCE. iMovie 08 has the ability to capture off card-based cameras.

I was trying to update my ipad operating system and I thought it was done but when I unplugged it from my computer the ipad has the apple logo and a long hollow oval under the logo and I can't get anything to work. Any suggestions?

When I disconnected it from my computer the ipad went blank then the apple logo appeared midscreen with an elongated oval across the screen under it. Now nothing on the ipad works. I think it was backed up on my computer but I can't find anything that will allow me to sync the two or regain functionality on my ipad. Any suggestions?

I would put the ipad in recovery mode and redo the update, once that is done you could restore the ipad from your backup and you would not lose any data.

HT204053 I have an old email address for my apple id, the email is discontinued. Now I can't get anything to work, like simple updates. Where or how do I change the old email to my new one so my account will open again

I can't get anything to work properly in Beta 4.0.3 help?

Tabs are not working properly, when I open a Tab up I get blank screen and when I select a site from Bookmarks it loads on the first tab instead of the tab I opened up. and when I click the X to close the Tabs I opened it won't close. and everything else ceases to work. I can't open Feedback to submit feedback about this bug, nor can I access Add-Ons to see whats Enabled and what's not.
I should of stuck with Beta 4.0.2 instead of upgrading to Beta 4.0.3 because everything was working fine then until this new update destroyed Firefox. I'm going to have to use another browser until this is fixed, because I can't use a browser like this. There's just too many bugs now. :/

That could be an add-on that is causing the problem, there were some changes to Firefox between beta 2 and 3 that would break some add-ons.
Start Firefox in [[safe mode]], in the dialog that pops up select the option to "Disable all add-ons" then click on "Make Changes and Restart".
Then in normal mode you should be able to access the add-ons manager and you can then check for updates to the add-ons. You can also re-enable them one at a time, re-starting Firefox each time to identify the add-on(s) that are not working. Also see the [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article.

Need help to print in PDF format using Adobe Reader with FireFox and a FileOpen plug-in. Can't get anything to work.

call the same smartform(Function generated from smartform) in your bsp application, get the otf outof it, convert that to pdf and show it. follow your previous thread and check the blog mentioned there.

Help! I unplugged my Ipod and now I can't get anything to work...

So, I made a mistake. I unplugged my ipod, when it said "do not disconnect".
Now, when I plug it in to my laptop, Itunes freezes up, and doesn't sync.
That means I can't restore the factory settings.
Plus, everytime I plug it in now, it says "do not disconnect."
What should I do? Should I reformat the Ipod drive? (it's an Ipod Photo)
Any help appreciated.

Did you get a response with a solution? i'm having the same problem, and my iPod mini won't connect to my car with the USB cable, which I think is related to the same problem. My iPod mini screen reads "do not disconnect" when it is plugged into my computer and I can only access my music w/ iTunes. Please let me know what you found out. I also have a nano, which is doing the same thing. Could be my computer is corrupted?

Can't get anything to work

I have just build a K7N2 Delta L system with an AMD 2600+ CPU.
My problem is that I don't seem to be getting any power to my drives. I have 2 HDD's and 2CD/DVD ROMs installed, but even when I unplug all but one drive, I still get nothing!
The PSU is brand new (300W).
Please help!!!

If you have a volt meter you could measure the power on the plug that fits into the drive from the powersupply. Its the 4 prong plug. That 300w supply will most likely not do it for you . go bigger Much bigger like 450w if ya can.
If you do measure make sure all drives are connected then probe one of the plugs. Are the fans running? is the monitor lighting up ? what happens when you hit the delete key as the system posts. will cmos menu appear?
does the lights on the front of the cd/dvds light?what happens whan you push the eject button on those drives?

I just downloaded LR to my IMAC ( i am new to apple products) and when I tried to open LR a alert pops up saying "an error occurred when attempting to change modules." I can't get anything to work in LR but Photoshop works fine.

if anyone has any ideas to why this is happening I would love your help.

Can't get anything to work on G3 Blue & White

First off I was given a mac G3 without a hard drive, I installed a Western Digital 20gb hard drive into the machine. I have a copy of OS X panther that came with it but im not sure if it belongs to this machine. However, when I booted up the machine to the CD by pressing C the screen comes up with a grey screen with a dark grey apple in the middle and it just stays there. I am a "first time" mac user I am so used to PC's. I tried to boot to the disk so I could perform "Disk utility" and format the hard drive as it used to be a hard drive out of PC.
Next issue as I thought it was the hard drive and replaced it with a unformatted hard drive. and tried to use a restore software dick from a G3 Then the screen showed a "happy mac on a folder with a blinking question mark"
so I tried holding down optioncommand+pr" to reset the PRAM. So I rebooted trying to boot to cd and still the blinking question mark comes up.
Liek I said before not knowing mac or osx I need help. I want to try out this mac before I make the plunge to buy a G5 or better.

Any Mac that has been off power for a while is likely to have a dead PRAM battery. So holding down Command option P R at startup, and continuing to hold those four keys until you have heard 4 chimes is a good plan. This will set the parameters to their factory defaults, which will hold until the power is removed. A properly-functioning battery will maintain them across power outages.
After the fourth chime, if you then quickly release the 4 keys and hold down only the C key, it should try to boot from the CD. It may seem to take forever to do this. The "Smiling Mac" is an indication that good boot blocks were found on a Boot device. The Dark Gray Apple is not present inside the Mac at startup, and must be loaded from a Boot device. Its appearance is a sign that the Mac is attempting to boot Mac OS X. You should shortly see the 12-petal "flower" or "gear" or "clock" thing spinning around.
Mac OS X 10.3 Panther will be a very nice OS for this Mac. You may be able to install with less RAM, but it will ultimately need 256 MB or more.
The flashing question mark says Either: it could not find the preferred OS Type, in the preferred version, on the preferred Boot Device -OR- the PRAM where all those preferences are stored has become corrupted.

Can't get apache + php5 working right

I was following the LAMP tutorial, but PHP doesn't seem to work.
This is off of a fresh arch install.
Did the following:
pacman -S apache php php-apache
I then add 'LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so' to httpd.conf and restart the server
If I navigate to the server, I see "Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8k DAV/2 PHP/5.3.0 with Suhosin-Patch Server" at the bottom. Seems like PHP is there and working.
I then create a test file phpinfo.php with the following: <?php phpinfo(); ?>
If I try to load that file, it displays its contents.
If I add 'AddType application/x-httpd-php .php' to httpd.conf, nothing changes. Should be working according to the wiki article. I'm so confused.

That is weird indeed. Actually, both paths should work as the Include directive accepts both absolute and relative (to ServerRoot) paths.
I'm baffled as well.

Can't get ANYTHING to work!! Help NEW to iPod

I bought an ipod nano off of ebay. nice deal, but of course battery life couldn't be guranteed. when unit arrived i didn't know how to turn on ,but i must have hit the correct button because it came on. i then had children issues and when i came back, ipod battery completely depleated. I have downloaded the current ipod software from apple and i have verified i do have a 2.0 usb on my computer. ipod doesnt charge, doesn't show up in ipod or my computer and when i try the update it doesn't hightlight for me to either click "update" or "restore" I have the original usb with it and i did just order a new battery yesterday. I did find out that the ipod is still under apple warrenty. What does anyone make of this. Any suggestions? If battery is depleated should it still be able to charge via the usb cable. I am new to this ipod so any help would be great!

Have you tried holding the MENU and SELECT (center) buttons until you see the Apple logo to reset it?
