Can't get Apache to recognize new certificate

In trying to replace an expiring certificate, I thought I followed instructions properly -
1) entered the information for a new cert in S.A.
2) clicked "request signed certificate from CA"
3) emailed the resulting csr to our IT manager, who returned the cert from Equifax
4) clicked "Add signed certificate"
5) pasted in the cert and clicked save.
Everything appeared to work; the new information shows correctly in the certificate pane of S.A., including the signing authority and the new effective dates (beginning yesterday). Keychain access and certificate assistant apps both show a valid cert, issued by Equifax for the server.
When I try to log in to an SSL web page, however, I get the "Web site certified by an unknown authority" message. Examining the cert in the browser shows it to be self signed, with a serial number of 12:34:56:78. I've tried restarting Apache, rebooting the server, re-specifying the cert to use in the web site configuration, all to no avail.
What else? Delete the site listing in S.A. and recreate it?

Never mind. This did the trick.

  • Can't get DW to recognize new file extensions

I'm trying to get DW to recognize the following file
extensions as HTML: .pt, .zpt, and no extension.
I tried to follow the instructions in the article "Changing
and adding file extensions recognized by Dreamweaver MX": I entered
the two extensions in all caps in the :All documents and :HTML
documents lists in Extensions.txt. And (just as a guess) I tried
entering two successive commas, hoping they would be interpreted as
    "no extension".
None of these tricks has enabled me to open any of the files
from the "Files" list in DW. I just get "Can't find a valid editor
    for this file extension."

Thanks, Alan. I was indeed editing the wrong Extensions.txt.
Editing the one under "\Documents and Settings" rather than the one
under "\Program Files" did the trick (I'm running Windows XP).
Hope springs eternal, so let me pursue the question about
extensionless files one step more. I'm trying to use DW as the
editor for developing a Plone site. Plone's basic HTML files are
extensionless, and I fear it would screw up the links within Plone
if I added extensions to these file names. However: Within Plone, I
can designate DW as my external editor, and then (by clicking on an
icon in the Zope Management Interface that underlies Plone) open
the extensionless Plone files in DW (tho only in code view). How
come DW will open a file that was tossed over from Plone, but it
won't open the same file from its own "Files" list?

  • Can't get Mail to recognize Thawte certificate for signing and encrypting

I got a certificate from Thawte and double clicked on the p12 file. This installed the certificate in the login section of the Keychain. I read in several places that it must be in the X509Anchors chain in order to work. However, whenever I try to import it or copy it there I can't get past the authentication screen. I give it the password to decrypt the p12 file and that works, but then it asks for a password for the X509Anchors keychain. I'm giving it my login password, but that doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

You shouldn't have to do anything with the X509Anchors keychain. The X509Anchors keychain contains certificate authority (CA) certificates, i.e., certificates associated with CA's that sign certificates. In it you'll find various CA certificates for thawte among others.
After you've successfully imported your thawte cert into your login chain, restart mail (I don't think you need to restart keychain access, but it wouldn't hurt).
Now when you compose a message, you should see encrypt and sign buttons to the right and below the subject line. This of course assumes the email address configured in mail is the same as the one in the thawte certificate.

  • I have new 2T iomega external HD (Mac Companion) - my Mac (2.8 GHz i7 - Lion OS) will not recognize HD if hooked up with Firewire, but it does recognize if hooked up via USB - how can I get it to recognize with Firewire?

I have new 2T iomega external HD (Mac Companion) - my Mac (2.8 GHz i7 - Lion OS) will not recognize HD if hooked up with Firewire, but it does recognize if hooked up via USB - how can I get it to recognize with Firewire?

Try a different FW800 cable and also try doing a SMC reset. If neither work try another FW800 device to see if it's recognized, if it is then  you know it's not the Mac it's probably the EHD.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

    Hi Baem_leeds
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
If you change your Apple ID you will need to sign in with the new information or password the next time you use an Apple service or feature that uses Apple ID. If you have multiple devices that use features and services that require an Apple ID, you will need to sign in again on each device.

  • How can I get iTunes to recognize the apps that are missing from the library screen but still on the machine??

My apps are not showing-up in the iTunes library but they are present in the apps folder. How can I get iTunes to recognize their presence?
Library-Apps-All (only three of several hundred appear).
Apps are still present in Users-Music-Mobile Applications
    I am running iTunes 11.0, OS X 10.8.2 on a Mac Pro.
Ran Disk Utility, Techtool, Disk Warrior and then reinstalled Mountain Lion, updated it and repaired permissions. No change.
There is a file that says 'iTunes Library (damaged), which is the iTunes Database file. How can that file be re-created?
Any technical help on replacing that file with a new, fresh one would be appreciated!

It has always been very basic to maintain a backup of media and other important files.  If you chose to reinstall the OS without having a backup, well that just is not smart.
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, iTunes purchases can be redownloaded via iCloud.  Simply log into the iTunes store, select purchases, purchase history and redownload the content.
If you are not in the US.... well, seems you just learned and important and possibly expensive lesson.

  • How can I get RoboHelp to recognize my FrameMaker installation?

I have Technical Suite 3.5 installed and several RoboHelp projects linked to FrameMaker books.
The Frame books were created in FrameMaker 10. I then upgraded to Technical Suite 3.5, then later upgraded my FrameMaker to 11.
All was well, RoboHelp continued to update from the Frame book files.
Then last week my hard disk crashed. IT provided a new disk, installed the Technical Suite and FrameMaker 11, but now when I open the RoboHelp projects and try to update them, RoboHelp displays an error message that says "Adobe FrameMaker 10 is not installed. No FrameMaker documents can be updated."
When I try to relink the project to FrameMaker (File | Link), I get a similar message:  "This operation cannot be completed without FrameMaker 10. Install FrameMaker 10 and try again."
How can I get RoboHelp to recognize my FrameMaker 11 installation, which it used to do prior to the crash and reinstallation?
    Thanks.
    Jerry

We also cannot get Robohelp to recognize our FrameMaker installation.
We are using Robohelp 9  and Framemaker 11.
We are in the process of moving all of our Robohelp content to Framemaker, but our project team still needs CHM files for the next release or so.  So we figured we could move our content to Frame 11, then import the Frame content into Robohelp when we needed to generate the CHM files.
The process works great when we use RH 10 and Frame 11, but we get the following error when we use RH 9:
"This operation cannot be completed without FrameMaker.  Install FrameMaker and try again."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Frame 11 and RH 9, but am still getting the same error.  Buying a set of new Robohelp 10 licenses probably isn't an option.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Sue

  • How can I get iMovie to recognize the external camera?

iMAC running OSX 10.6.8 recognizes external HD Camera hardware, but iMovie fails to recognize the device.  I can copy files "manually" using Finder, but cannot import them directly into iMovie.  How can I get iMovie to recognize the camera?  I have already re-booted all devices and tried multiple USB ports.  In all cases the OS recognizes the camera, but iMovie does not.

OK This camcorder is a fine camcorder. I have an earlier model of a similar camcorder from Panasonic. However, this newer model has one problem. It is not compatible with iMovie if you shoot at the highest quality mode, (which is 60P or 50P - which might be called 28MBPS mode). If you shoot 30P or 30i (even 60i) it will import to iMovie. Also, iMovie can handle 1280x720P60 and P50.
It will definitely work on iMovie 11. It should probably work on iMovie 09. I doubt this camera will be recognized at all on iMovie 08, but it is worth a try. To see which iMovie you have, click iMovie/About and check the version. 9.04 would be iMovie 11. (9.08 is the current version, but it will not run on OSX 10.6.8). 8.06 would be iMovie 09. 7.1.4 would be iMovie 08.
OK So how to work around this limitation?
    1) If you have Final Cut Pro X ($300) or can justify buying it, it will import 60P and 50P from this camera. However, if this seems a little pricey to you, keep reading.
    2) If you set your camera to record in 1080P30 and shoot a short clip, then iMovie should see the camera. Then I would suggest using iMovie import screen to create a CAMERA ARCHIVE of your camera. This will copy to your Mac the entire contents of the video files on your camera. You will need them later. I am assuming you have some valuable footage on the camera that you would like to have.
    3) Going forward, the simplest thing is to shoot in 1920x1080P30 and use iMovie normally. The biggest advantage of P60 or P50 is when you need really high quality slow motion effects. In other words, after you edit your movie, everything is converted to P30 or P25 anyway.
    4) If you want to retrieve the 1080P50 or 1080P60 clips that you have shot, then there are a couple of apps you can buy to convert them to a form that iMovie can edit. Two such apps are ClipWrap and Voltaic HD. There are also various free apps, but I cannot vouch for them. Do a search on google and you may find some that work.

    A. Have you gone in to 'manage your iCloud?', and have you rebooted your iPhone. I think the idea is to delete yor previous backups and start with a new one.

  • Can't get iTunes to recognize library on external HD

I have been using my work computer as my main machine to run and store my iTunes. My library got too big so I moved it onto an external HD and pointed iTunes to it. Everything was working fine until my computer had to be reformatted recently. I reinstalled iTunes and went through the steps to point it to my hard drive, and nothing. For the life of me I can't get iTunes to recognize my library on the hard drive. I looked for a while in the discussions, but couldn't find anything that addresses my problem specifically. I'm dying at work without my music... Help!

    juan grande
iTunes keepes a database about your Music called iTunes Library.itl, it is normally in a folder called iTunes. When you use an external drive, you can choose to keep the library database in the iTunes folder on your c: drive or you can move it to the external drive. It is vital to know which you did.
The critical question is - do you have an iTunes folder on your external drive containing your library file - iTunes Library.itl?
If you do and you do the shift key start correctly, you can select choose a library and navigate to the iTunes folder on the external drive and choose iTunes library.itl.
Here is some help on the shift key start:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304447
If you kept your iTunes library database in the iTunes folder on your c: drive and you did not back it up, then you must start again with a new library. You can put your music in it from the external drive with File>>Add folder to Library, but you loose your counts ratings and playlists.
