Is this an Early 2011 MBP?
Try manually downloading and installing this update;
Mac OS X v10.6.7 Update for early 2011 MacBook Pro
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1368
If it is older, then try this one, it is fairly large!
Mac OS X v10.6.7 Update Combo
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
I would drag the MAS app to the Trash and restart before applying either of the updates.

Thanks Carolyn. Unfortunately, this didn't work. It turned out to be in my display monitor as I have my computer wired to my tv for streaming. Once I changed the monitor display it worked fine. Go figure

    This is entirely my complaint.
I have to sit without useable internet for 5 days when there is no fault, before anyone does anything about it ? BT visit the village to do something for another customer, mess up my perfectly working broadband, and then refuse to do anything about it for 5 days. And I pay full price during that time. Let's just hope they don't come back to do something else within those 5 days !!!
There isn't a fault with the line, it is perfectly stable. I just need somebody to use common sense and set the IP profile back to what it was.
If the system is so clever, it could at least try moving off 135k to 512k say after an hour or so.
I will try using that link though and see if somebody can do something !!
Frustrated is not the word ! If I ran my business like this I'd have no customers left. I'm pretty sure that's not the first time somebody has posted that on here

  • Help! Can't get iTunes store to open

Recently switched from an iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5. To switch all of my music and apps over, I had to update my Mac to the OS X 10.6.8. I also updated my iTunes to 11.0.5. When I did this, I was able to transfer all my music, and can still access my iTunes library. Here's the problem, I can't get the iTunes library to open. It shows it loading, but only get's halfway and stops. It has my account along the top, and even the home, music, movies, and podcasts buttons, but they only load halfway as well. It's just a white screen. There is no "unable to access iTunes store" or any sort of pop-up to explain why it won't open... Just a blank screen. My WiFi is working and I've tried multiple networks to make sure that was not the problem. I can also still get onto the store from my phone using my account. I tried to see if logging in with my sister's account would make a difference, but it still did not work. I've tried all of the suggested ways through the iTunes support and haven't found the problem. I'm not sure what the best way would be to fix it. Any suggestions?!

I have exactly the same problem! Please help, it's driving me crazy!

  • Mac Pro...can't get App Store or Facetime

I have a Mac Pro, running the most recent 10.5.8 software.  I'd like to use Facetime, and was assured by Apple's ads that the Mac App Store and Facetime would be included with the most recent software updates.  The Facetime App is supposed to be in the bridge, after purchase.  But, I can't get my Itunes to let me buy the App....it only seems to know I have an Ipod and Ipad.  Does anyone know how I can get hooked up using Mac Apps, and ultimately Facetime?

Maybe MacBook Pros are somehow different?
To clarify you don't have a laptop/notebook, and you have Snow Leopard.

  • Can't get App Tray to open

    Hi all
A lot of people have shown me a new capability on their iphone/ipod touch/ipad where there is an App Tray that shows all of your open apps, that you can call up by double clicking the home button.
My iTunes says I have the latest software installed on my ipod Touch, but I can not seem to get the App Tray to open.
Does anyone happen to have any insight you could offer on this?
My battery drains quickly and I suspect it's because of open apps, so I'd like to get this to work.
    thanks so much in advance!

That is only avaialbe for the 3G and 4G iPod.  SInce you have iOS 4.2.1, you may have a 2G iPod since that can only go to 4.2.1.  If it is 8 or 16 GB, then it is a 2G.  Identify here:

  • How can I get App Store to ignore updates?

I'm sick and tired of being prompted to update to pages 5 which I utterly loathe. I keep trying to control-click the update which used to give the option to skip that update, but now I can't seem to get that menu item. Is there a way to do that now?
I'm assuming I'm missing something exceedingly obvious that's going to create a "Doh!" moment.
    Thanks!

Try unchecking all the boxes at System Preferences > App Store.

  • Can't access app store or itunes after upgrading to iOS6

I upgraded my iphone to iOS 6 and now I can not access the app store or itunes, I have tried to use the new maps application and it odes not download the area map at all. This is very frustrating...

What happens when you try to access/use/download apps?
If there is an error message, what is the exact wording of that message?
Has the iPhone been jailbroken or modified to work with other than
    the original wireless provider?
Were any of the beta versions of iOS 7 ever installed on the iPhone?

  • Can not get App Store icon my Ipad front display

    Thanks for your support,
till i can not find out the App Store icon in my ipad home screen,
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable installing apps.
    i check it On,
if i want to enter then need to enter passcode, but i do not know the passcode.
    please give me a solution.
then i try by Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
this ok, but in my ipad no icon for Apps Store.
    awaiting your confirmation reply.

I don't think you understand. You only needed to check restrictions in case you had been using restrictions. If you we're not using restrictions, then you could not have disabled installing of apps. There is no need to turn it on, IF it was turned on and you were not using it.
If you were not using restrictions and you reset the home screen layout, and neither of those worked for you, something is wrong. What you are saying doesn't make sense.

  • Can't get App Store to use my balance not my m/c

My account shows a balance, but the App store insists on using my m/c and it won't let me delete it either. What do I do to use my existing balance to buy apps?

If you make a purchase (including any applicable taxes and fees) that exceeds the total cost of an app then your ciredit or debit card is charged for the balance.

  • Mac App Store Connection Failed After Mavericks Update

    Hi y'all,
immediately after I updated my Lion to Mavericks (10.9.1), I could not access no more Mac App Store: as I enter my (valid and active) Apple ID credentials, I receive a "Connection Failed" message (in red, in the same login dialog, under the user id field).
So I've tried to set to "Always Trust" all of my Class 3 Certificates in my Keychain, I removed all of the Mac Appstore plist files (appstore and storeagent), I've also tried to remove the network preferences plist file to reset my network interfaces preferences, I've also deleted the ocsp and crls cache files, and I've setup the ocsp and crls certificates preferences in my Keychain Access to off.
I obviously checked out my App Store account and it's correct and active - I'm also currently using it on my iPhone, iPad and iPod with no problem at all!
Anyway I wanted to try creating a new App Store account from the Mac AppStore itself: after I validated it, I tried to login into Mac AppStore... with no success!
So, NONE of the above mentioned attempts solved the problem, and I'm WORRIED and astonished wondering HOW APPLE COULD RELEASE A MAJOR O.S. UPDATE THAT SMASHES THE MAC APP STORE, WHICH IS ONE OF THE CORE APPS OF THIS O.S.!!! I use Mac OSes since many years and I never had O.S. problems (only some minor issue with third party applications out of Apple's scope and solved with some simple workaround).
CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME? :-)
    THX IN ADVANCE,
    DANI

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
