Can't get bluetooth headset to wake up s-voice

I picked up a bluetooth headset for my motorcycle helmet and I can get them to connect without issue. But in hands free mode, or using s-voice it won't let me active the feature by voice using the headset. It makes me tap the phone to activate s-voice and then works ok. But trying to tap on my phone repeatedly while it's in my jacket pocket at 65mph to get it to work really isn't a good option....
How can I get the phone or s-voice to recognize a wake-up command from the headset?

Be careful, orc! We don't want you focusing too much on your phone at 65mph. Although Bluetooth is a great way to communicate hands free, it may not provide the ability to use every voice function that's specific to the phone. S-Voice is controled direct by the device, so the phone needs to be able to hear your command but can't through Bluettoth without that initial wake up. You're doing everything right, but it's simply a limitation of the Bluetooth functionality.

  • Late 2013 MBP/Fusion/Boot Camp partition w/Windows XP (!), can I get Bluetooth working or should I give up?

Hello and please bear with the length of this post.  I had an old MacBook Pro (2007 Santa Rosa) that ran Windows XP in a Boot Camp partition just fine.  One thing Windows has that the Mac doesn't is a free OBD2 app that lets me communicate with a Bluetooth OBD2 scanner to reset my check engine light and read the codes.  This scanner uses Bluetooth.
A few months ago by a stroke of good luck I got a new Retina MacBook Pro.  Windows XP will not install on it, only Win 7 & 8 (I don't have the install disks anymore anyway).  I did not want to buy a new Windows just to run this one program (the only Windows app I really need).  I thought I could possibly run my old Win XP Boot Camp partition (now in an external USB3 case) under Fusion, and it turns out that I can indeed do this.  However I can not get Bluetooth to work – Win XP, under Fusion, does not see any Bluetooth hardware.  I got some help on the Fusion forum – I was told to uncheck the Share Bluetooth devices with the virtual machine box and check the Apple Bluetooth USB Host Controller box to connect Bluetooth to the virtual machine.  WIn XP, under Fusion, does not seem to see any Bluetooth hardware.
My question is, do the Boot Camp drivers originally installed when I first used Win XP on my old Santa Rosa MBP have any role here?  I was thinking I might have to update those drivers since I'm on a new Retina MBP, but the update notes specifically say the newer drivers are for Windows 7 and 8.  I haven't tried to install them yet – maybe they'll even refuse to install, I don't know.
If I'm truly wasting my time trying to get this to work I'll fork over the $40 for the Mac OBD2 software, although I really only need it for a "single use" (trying to pass a state inspection, lol!).  TIA for any help!

Please ignore the last message - I was hoping I could delete the thread but it looks like I can't.
After a little more investigation I've decided to give up this quest and pay the $40 for the Mac software.

  • Cant get bluetooth device to wake computer

Hi, i have winows xp on my macbook. Im using an external monitor with the laptop lid closed. So i was wondering if there was a way to wake the laptop up from hybernation by using my external keyboard and/or mouse. As at the moment i have to open the laptop lid and use the track pad untill it starts up and recognises the bluetooth devices again. I can get it to work flawlessly in OS X, just not in XP.
so can anyone help me an tell me how i can get my wireless bluetooth mouse to wake windows xp?
    Thanks.

Same problem here. Mac OS has an option to wake on bluetooth devices, but windows doesn't seem to have such an option. There is a Microsoft Knowledge Base article about this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266283
    that describes the solution as
"To resolve this issue, see the documentation that is included with your computer. Alternatively, contact your computer manufacturer for information about how to configure the BIOS. "
In other words, there would need to be a BIOS setting in boot camp that would allow the Bluetooth receiver to be active in the sleep state, just as there is in Mac OS. Maybe there is such a setting, but I haven't yet found it. I'll keep looking.

  • Re: Portege M800 - can't get bluetooth installed in Windows 7

Hi, I have a portege M800 PPM81C-07602D. It came with windows vista but I have reinstalled it to windows 7, and now I can't get the bluetooth drivers to install. I've tried the old vista drivers as well as the newer windows 7 drivers, but whenever I run the install I get the message "Please plug in the bluetooth device and click ok button."....If I click ok it just pops up again. I don't know why it wouldn't be finding the internal bluetooth....I dont think there's a physical on/off switch for the BT anywhere, and I looked to see if it had been disabled in the bios but there was nothing in there about it...so...I'm out of ideas.
Anyone have any thoughts I can try?
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Toshiba Bluetooth stack can be installed if the BT module is enabled properly so use FN+F8 key combination to enable BT module.
After doing this BT should be recognized and installed properly (you will se BT entries in device manager).

  • Can't get Bluetooth to work

I can't seem to get bluetooth to work from the Desktop software.
I can pair my laptop and my Storm and transfer my contact to the PC outside of the desktop software but when I go into the desktop software and select configure bluetooth it doesn't see my Storm device.
    Any ideas?
    Best Regards,
    Brian

on your PC, you need to uninstall the Bluetooth stack from the third party, and have the drivers from Microsoft installed.
Otherwise no Bluetooth in the Desktop Manager.

  • Anyone Get Bluetooth Headset from On-Line Store?

We see several posts about them being purchased in Apple retail stores, but has anyone that ordered the Bluetooth Headset from the Apple on-line store received shipping information or actually received one yet?

Thanks- I thought on-line orders would ship before or at the same time they arrived in stores but I was wrong.
I ended up getting one at the Apple store 2 blocks from my house and then cancelled the on-line order at the same time.
Works pretty good but the fit is loose even with the foam cover.

  • Skype for Android can't use Bluetooth headset in a...

When i've unchecked the "Call audio" checkbox in my bluetooth headset settings of my android device (Samsung Galaxy Note 2) and left "on" only the "Media audio" checkbox, then skype uses my bt headset only untill my call has been answered. After call recipient has been answered my call, skype starts using my phone speaker.
It's a shame, that i can't use my stereo bluetooth headset (in a2dp mode) in pair with my phone's microphone.
Does somebody have a workaround for this problem?
    Thansk for your attention.

According to the A2DP, where P stands for that states that the BT microphone is to be used.
You (and Skype) should study the profile, since this allow e.g. contacts and a pile of other things to be shared say with your car´s Bluetooth. For audio, the phone can use the Bluetooth for Audio (stereo or mono) and microphone (usually mono, but stereo is upported).
Bluetooth is pretty advanced protocol, that even cover the power of the radio, so you batteries both on the headset and on the phone will last longer if you keep them close. The profile supported indicates the device category - laptop computer, mobile phone etc. The number will usually refer to the version of Bluetooth, here 2, while headset now are in version 4. There are a lot of confusion about this, and a number of applications on the Playstore is just at the best utter nonsense, but can also cause damage. Many of the problems posted here may be related to installation of faulty "apps". Your phone should in newer versions of Android support A2DP as they come.

  • HT204387 can I get bluetooth software on my 2nd gen IPod touch

Can I use Bluetooth on my 2nd gen IPod

Yes if you update to you iPod to at least iOS 2 or 3 or so. The 2G can go to iOS 4.2.1. You need iTunes 10 or later on the computer. You indicate you iOS 1.x. That indicates that you have a 1G iPod, That iPod does not have BT.

  • How can I get Siri to insert a pause (,) when voice-dialing a number?

I join a lot of conference calls with my iPhone.  The conference bridges have phone numbers that follow this pattern:
    (123) 456-7890,1234567#
How can I get Siri to insert the pause (,) character, and the pound (hash) sign, into the phone number when voice-dialing?
When I say "pause" Siri inserts the word "pause" as a literal string:
         Example: (123) 456-7890 pause 1234567
When I say "comma" Siri will insert a comma (,) into the dial string, but the Phone app ignores everything after the comma and does not dial it:
         Example: (123) 456-7890, 1234567   results in only this being dialed:  (123) 456-7890
When I say "pound" or "hash" Siri inserts the words "pound" or "hash" as literal strings:
         Example: (123) 456-7890, 1234567 pound     instead of (123) 456-7890,1234567#

If it is your own conference bridge you can create a new contact named "My Bridge" and enter your 1800 number along with a "wait" command and pass code and #.  It would look something like this 1-800-555-5555;12345678#.  This way when you tell Siri to call "My Bridge" she'll dial and then you'll notice an option in the lower left to dial the pass code.  Press that and you're all set. You can do the same for frequent conference bridges you connect to.  Hope this helps.

  • Unable to get Bluetooth Headset Profile working with mic on Toshiba BT Stac

    Hi.
I am having problems using my Motorola HT-820 Stereo headset, with the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack installed on Vista Home Premium 32bit laptop.
I am unable to get the mic to function at all, so cannot use it for Skype / VOIP calls etc. Features such as the A2DP and AVRCP work fine, and I can listen to music via media player without issues.
I have read in a FAQ on this site, to make sure I use the Custom Setup option rather than Express Setup when adding the device, but it doesnt seem to make any difference, am I missing a step here?
In the Windows Recording device properties, I can see the option listed for Bluetooth Mic, but even setting it as the default device doesnt work.
I know from connecting my headset to my Desktop PC which uses the Widdcom bluetooth stack, that i can use the Headset/mic function, but this stack seems to work differently, as in I can select the headset option within the bluetooth settings, but I cannot see such an option withing the Toshiba stack - and i think this is where the problem is.
I have updated to the latest Toshiba stack from this web site, but this has not helped any.
Any help here would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Matt

    Hello Matt
Unfortunately I can not help you with this but if I am remembering well here on BT section someone already asked something similar. Please take a little bit time and check BT section on this forum.
You can also visit FAQ section on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
