Can't get comcast mail after installing Lion

Hi All,
I've read a lot about problems with Comcast emails after Lion has been installed but couldn't find anything that was just like my situation.
I just installed Lion and created iCloud last night and this morning when I went to check my emails in Apple Mail I found that one of my Comcast email addresses would not connect.
I have 4 Comcast email addresses and one other address. All of the addresses are working like they should except one of the Comcast addresses.
I can send email from the address but can't receive anything.
I seem to remember during the setting up process for iCloud I was asked to choose 3 security questions and answers and to provide an email address which I think would be used in the event I forgot my security answers, but I'm not quite certain of it's purpose.
Anyhow the email address I gave them for that purpose was the one Comcast address that does not work now, so I have a feeling that somehow the problem is with Apple and iCloud but not sure about that.
I've read lots of posts that are similar to mine but in their case none of the Comcast emails would work at all.
I'd appreciate any suggestions that I can try to fix this problem.

Problem Solved, I'll put it down to operator error.
After checking out the Preferences for Mail and for that one particular email address I found that the password had one too many digits so I reentered the password and it worked just fine.
Don't ask me how come the extra digit as I haven't had any reason to go into Mail Preferences for months and all of the addresses were working fine until after loading Lion.

Command + Option + Esc will force quit any app.
Or click Force Quit from your Apple  drop down menu.
You can also force quit apps using Activity Monitor located in HD > Applications > Utilities

Time Machine can't find external drive after installing Lion

Time Machine can't find external drive after installing Lion. I have a Laice 1 terabyte external drive that worked fine with Snow Leopard and now no show ... tried connecting it to front port and Mac Pro can't see it. Also lost Office,Quicken, and Final Cut Pro says: " You can't open application because Power PC apps are no longer supported" this is Not a good surprise!

Does the drive work when just directly connected? If so, have you prepped the drive?
Extended Hard Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

When I uncheck "SSL" it's working well, but it's not very secure. When I leave SSL, I got in "Connection Doctor" the message "Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct.", only for the SMTP. For the IMAP, the status in Green. It's also working well on the iPhone 6 with ios8 and other mac with OS X 10.9 and previous versions.
The only thing that can be involved is that the certificat used by my mail provider is expired.
With connection docteur, there is a button "Show Details". Here is the conversation when connecting to the smtp.

My computer case seems like it gets really hot after installing lion

My Macbook Pro is only 5 months old and I don't remember that the case ever got very warm. Now I can't even keep it on my lap because of the hot case. It almost seems worse after installing Lion earlier this week. I'm not positive about that?
What should I do?

The Macbook Pro shell (bottom) will get hot during long periods of use... such as playing games, DVDs, etc. Also depends on the environment you are in... There is nothing wrong with it.

Any way to import entourage 2004 info (messages and addresses) into Mail - after installing Lion?

I have just installed Lion - Entourage 2004 nop longer works (ok, I should have checked!). Does anyone know if I can set up Mail to import all my Entourage info (account details, emails and addresses)?

The thing is, sometimes when I send PDFs it's fine, and sometimes she gets it and it's a jpeg and embedded ... not consistent at all ... I didn't assume for sure it was on my end, but without sitting at her computer and looking at Outlook, which I'll do the next time we meet, it's hard to know what's going on.
I do know that sometimes when I attach a PDF, the whole thing shows up in the body of the email (like it's embedded), and sometimes it's just a PDF icon attachment, and so I know that's something happening on my end before I even send the file, but can't for the life of me figure out what.
I like Mail a lot. But it does lack features that Outlook and Entourage have that I like. For instance being able to send an attachment to the main recipient only, and not the CCs and BCCs, which I used to so that a client knew I was sending the final high-res file to a printer, without having to send it to them. And I never had attachment problems when I used those programs, but maybe that's simply a function of using PC to PC programs.

Starting mail after installing Lion

I installed Lion on my MacbookPro (2008) yesterday. Everything is working fine, except mail. When i start mail, it says (ranslated from nowegian): "Mail needs to organize he database, press continue". When i press continue it says: "Transfering data". Then everything freezes. Solutions anyone?

Can't get help files after install of CS4 Standard

The programs seem to be working fine, but whenever I click on the specific Help link the programs say there was an error in installation and I should re-install (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) How do I get to access Help?
Also, with PsCS3 the license allowed installation on 2 computers (my desktop and my notebook) but it is unclear if this applies to Creative Suite CS4. Can you clarify before I try installing on my notebook?

Well, there *is* a way to sidestep this without having to reinstall the whole suite on Windows XP (Vista too, most probably). However, this manual solution might be a chore to some since you'd have to do this for *each* of the help volumes within C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Help\en_US\.
I'll just detail what I did with the folder containing the Photoshop help files. I believe that with the others it should be a similar procedure, but I haven't tried it yet.
Within C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Help\en_US\Photoshop\11.0\ look for these two text files: helpmap.txt and helpmapBaseUrl.txt.
MAKE BACKUPS OF THOSE TWO FILES BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES (and, like me, ask permission from your boss before you do anything like this :) ). Save the files somewhere safe so you can restore them if what I suggest below doesn't work for you.

It looks like helpmapBaseUrl.txt tells PS where to look for the Help files, and those of you with the "problem" will probably find that it contains this address:
"http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/11.0"
which is why (AFAIK) pressing F1 takes you to the Web help.
Delete "http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/11.0" and paste the path to the PS help files in your machine, which (if you installed it in C:) should be something like:
file:///C:/Program%20Files/Common%20Files/Adobe/Help/en_US/Photoshop/11.0/
Save helpmapBaseUrl.txt.

Open helpmap.txt. Look for these two entries:

Maybe there is an easier way to do this, I don't know. But so far this works for me.

Can't delete e-mail after installing 2.2

Have just tried to delete an e-mail since installing 2.2 and get the messsage "Unable to move message - The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash".
Pre 2.2 I was deleting e-mails with no problem. In my list of mailboxes there doesn't seem to be one called Trash - do I have to create one ? Any one else experienced this and know how to rectify it ?

On checking the advanced tab of my mail settings - on the general settings app - my assignment of drafts, sent and deleted mailbox (under 'mailbox behaviors') was blank - I've reallocated correct server folders here for deleted mail and it works again;
from the home screen - settings to mail contacts and calendars - select the account you want to check - click on the advanced tab and set 'mail behaviors' for deleted mail - select the correct deleted mail folder.
Let us know if that works.

HT1296 How can I get ipad restored after installing ios7?

I recently went to itunes to update my ipad to ios7. Upon doing so, itunes promped me to save the content on my ipad to my computer, which I did. The update was successful, but now I can't get the content back to my ipad. Does anyone know how to do this? I try and the ipad says it is restoring ipad, but then goes back the the "Hello" status.

Can't get past password after install

Hi,I did post about this earlier this week but thought I would try again.Since installing SL and running through the set up when I try to log in the name/password
is rejected. I know I probably need to reboot with install disc to access preferences but despite trying all the different reboot key combos it still will not reboot and keeps returning to the set up chain again, any magic solutions greatly welcomed. Thanks, Bryan.

Well a basic summary of the problem is that SL has installed on my MBP but when I go through the
registration/ set up for internet, details and admin and password set up etc I can not log in to the computer as it won't recognize either username, or, password. This maybe because it had a previous owner, though I went through the same procedure when I bought the Mac a few months back so I don't
know if there is maybe a password associated with the original owner. Now if I could get the Mac to reboot with the install disc I believe I can rectify this but each time I try and reboot with the disc with start up hold C and all the others, the computer just starts up with the chain of set ups/reg details as mentioned above.So there you have it, I am stuck in a loop of putting in passwords that it won't recognize but am unable to access anything else to change anything.

Can I bootcamp snow leopard after installing Lion

So I got a macbook pro 13 inch. in July (it came with Snowleopard) so I bought lion and installed it. My question is whether I can use the snowleopard disk that came with my mac and make a bootcamp with it. Because I downloaded a few games that are not compatible with lion (powerpc) so I was wondering whether that disk that came with my mac was a recovery disk or if i can use it and make a bootcamp without losing everything

While the subject is open, please verify/deny ...
BootCamp requires a 1-partition internal disk to make the partition. If one creates a second partition for SL, then BootCamp for Windows will not work.
I would like to know for myself at least.
