Can't get computer to see galaxy note 3 hard drive?

can't get computer to see galaxy note 3 hard drive?

One last thing to add into the mix.
As you know your Router will have to probably need to be manually confiqured.
Your Router has an IP address of 192.168.1.1
The 1st port to the first machine should have an IP of 192.168.1.2
The 2nd port should have 192.168.1.3
Each corresponding port needs to have assending IP addresses.
Checking the paperwork that came with your Router will explain how to manually confiqure it.
Sometimes a complete System reset will also help.
Modem Router and Shutting off all the machines.
When powering back up start with your ISP's Modem and after it has aquired the signal and lights then you can power back your Router, and the same there wait for it to reacquire the signal and the lights each will take a minute each. Now you can restart your computers one at a time and try them. You might want to double check the cable on your troubled machine and also try switching the ports on the router and if none of this works it sounds like a bad Ethernet Card.

  • I can not get imovie to see my external hard drive it is an HP media smart server

I can not get imovie to see my external hard drive it is an HP media smart server and I need to be able to house all my video on this server but it access in imovie.

amanda0509, I think you need to reformat the disk to something iMovie is able to work with. iMovie won't allow you to copy or move projects/events to a disk that is not formatted as a Mac OS Extended disk. Once you format it however, it won't be usable by a Windows PC. Are you trying to acces the media smart server by your Mac and also by some PC by any chance?

  • Mac-format to PC-format: How can I get my music off an external hard drive?

I had a mac-formatted iPod for years, and all of my music is on an external hard drive that is hooked up to that computer. When I got a new iPod after mine was stolen, I had to get a PC-formatted iPod. How can I get my music off of the hard drive and onto my PC (and eventually my iPod)? I tried uploading the files into my iTunes account on the Mac, but they don't show up in my account on the PC. Most of the music are CDs that I copied onto my computer years ago, and had on my old iPod. Help!

Your Firefox profile would have the data. You can find it at:
    *C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>
**The file you want is called ''places.sqlite''
You can copy that file if you want to restore your bookmarks to your current Firefox by going back to ''C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>'' and overwriting the current file. Keep in mind, doing this will erase your current bookmarks.

  • 2 computers at home working with the same files i keep on an external hard drive to free up space the internal drives. I have an airport extreme time capsule to back up both computers. how can i get it to back up the hard drive plugged into time capsual?

I want to run both my macbook pro and imac from a single external hard drive.
i bought a time capsual and set it us as my network and plugged my external hard drive into it. so now both my computers can access it and work on the same image and film files. the time capsual does a lovely job of backing up both my computers and my wifes. but i cant get it to back up the external hard drive that is conected to it. ive looked on the forum and it seems to me that its not possible, which seems odd to me that mac would enable you to plug a hard drive into the time capsual but not let you back it up, what is the point in that!?
so my question is can i back up the external hard drive with time machine, and if not how do i set up my home network so that all my computers can access the same files and time machine will back everything up?
I did the upgrade to maverics on my imac which has caused me a major headache as now all my apature albums have been updated to 3.5.1 but my macbook pro can no longer open them because im unable to upgade it to maverics, but thats another story.
If anyone can help me with my time machine issue i would be very greatful.
    many thanks

The TC for whatever it is promoted as,, is still a simple hard disk in a router. It was designed for laptops to use as a backup. A desktop can use a USB drive, faster cheaper and more reliable than a network drive but the laptops need a network wireless storage. Hence the TC. It is NOT nor was it ever designed to do the job you are trying to use it for.. it is not a NAS.. it has no internal backup.
What is more Time Machine has no ability to backup network drives no matter what their format.
So the solution is to either use a real backup software.. eg Carbon Copy Cloner which can do far more than TM can or ever will. It is around $40 so hardly expensive. But since the TC was never designed for it, this will be slow.. and the next question is where are you going to back to. Using the TC as backup location for your files is less than great. Primarily because all your files are still on the same device albeit on different disk. It is also because mixing data and TM backups is not so great. The TC cannot be partitioned although you can alleviate some of the issues..
    See this info.
    Q3 here http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
Let me go back to the question.
so my question is can i back up the external hard drive with time machine, and if not how do i set up my home network so that all my computers can access the same files and time machine will back everything up?
Fundamentally the TC is the wrong place to do this.
The right place is to plug the USB drive into the iMac.. since it is a desktop machine and you are probably not lugging it around. Simply share the USB drive to the network.
The MBP can then access the USB drive, and it will be around twice the speed of networking to the same drive on the TC. TM on the iMac can then also backup the USB drive to the TC as part of the normal TM backups.
The only thing is the iMac needs to be turned on to allow MBP access.

  • Can I get files off of my old hard drive?

So, I've been going through a whole lot of trouble lately with my late 2011 Macbook Pro. A little over a week ago it wouldn't start up, and after attempting the recovery process I learned that I had a corrupted hard drive. The problem was I had a partially written 50000 word novel on there which I hadn't backed up. I'm aware that that was incredibly stupid of me, and I usually always back my work up, but I guess because I'd just purchased this macbook in July I didn't expect to have a problem so soon. Anyway, I took it to the apple store and by hooking it up to genius bar OS instead of my own they were able to get into my hard drive and they let me extract the files I needed, and then proceeded to replace my hard drive which took about four days. I just went back to look at the novel after getting the computer back today, and I realized it somehow only got half of it; maybe it was in two documents or something that I missed, I'm not sure what happened, but it's missing a hundred pages.
So, long story short, I need to get back on my hard drive again. They gave the old one to me, but the last thing I want to do is go through the whole entire process of switching drives again, because I need this computer to work on and it would undoubtedly take forever to do. What I'm asking is, does anyone know if there's another way to retrieve these files? Would the apple store be willing to let me load it onto a different computer so I can still keep my own to work on? I know it's probably a long shot, but I'm about ready to give up and this is my only hope.
I'll be returning there tomorrow afternoon, because apparently on top of all of this they did something to my battery while replacing the hard drive, and now it's coming up as not available and it relies entirely on the power adapter to function. So they've got to fix that too. Just my luck, isn't it?
    Thanks.

There are several ways to get data off an old drive, some of which have already been mentioned:
USB drive adapter cable (best choice if you only need to do this rarely, too fragile for frequent use)
External enclosure (choose the 0GB empty case)
Drive dock (I keep one of these around to read old drives that are in the closet, so I no longer need the other accessories. Super handy accessory, much more reliable than the USB adapter cable.)
There are also write-protected forensic drive docks intended to examine and rescue data from drives without altering the contents, but that's probably more than what you need. They're mostly for data recovery shops.

  • HT1270 How can i get an upgrade on my mac hard drive to a bigger one and where?

I need help on upgrading my hard drive on my 11 inch macbook air to a bigger size, where do i get that kinda help?

The Air doesnt have a hard drive, rather a SSD,  the largest is a 512GB SSD, which is very expensive.
OWC (other world computing) sells them.
However your notebook is not a storage device, consider offloading static files to an external HD, as it needs to be the case regardless for data backups .

  • Snow leopard installation disc won't boot. Can I reset computer to boot from internal hard drive at startup?

I recently installed snow leopard on my macbook (mid 2006). I used system preferences to set the snow leopard boot disc as the install disc, and now my computer won't boot. It stalls at the apple icon with the grey screen. Is there any way I can set my computer to reboot from my internal hard drive at startup without having access to system prefernces (a keyboard code or something)?

Thank you so much for responding.  I actually just pushed the trackpad button at startup.  It ejected the install disc and automatically booted from the internal.  I am sure your method would have worked as well.  Thanks again!

  • Can I get my bookmarks off an external hard drive that I use as a backup? I have Windows 7 Home Edition Premium.

I have been backing up my computer with Windows 7 Home Premium onto an external hard drive. I have been using manual backup when I hook up the external hard drive. I've tried looking for the Firefox folder but can't seem to find it. Was it saved with all the other files and folders and if so how do I access it?

  • I have a G60 laptop with Vista. How can I get download to install on new hard drive? FT468UA

Hard drive is in Chinese I want to change it to English. Or reinstall Vista on a nother hard drive.

Sorry, there is no download of Vista install. You have to make a Recovery Disc set to reinstall Vista. However your copy is licensed for Chinese (I assume) so that is what you will get with a reinstall.

  • I can't seem to get my Windows 7 Box to "see" the NAS where my music and movies are stored.  This ran fine on W XP.  After I installed iTunes on my new machine, I can't get it to "see/recognize" the NAS drive.  5 other computers can.  Any Ideas ?

I have a mix of Apple and Windows Boxes.  The primary NAS is a 2TB Buffalo Unit.  The back-up NAS is a QNAP with 6TBs (set up as Raid 5).  Until I removed my old 32 Bit Dell machine today, all the rooms in the house got excellent delivery of audio or video, via Apple TVs, which then run into DACs and amps, and the  rest of the gear.  The 32 Bit Box was failing on some boots, so I got a new machine.  I installed 64 Bit iTunes on it, but cannot get it to recognize the NAS Box. It's like the setting took, as I can see it, however, it "appears" that iTunes is looking elsewhere for the media.  I would really prefer not to reload all 850 CDs, and redownload the 56 movies from iTunes.
Is there something that changed in 64 Bit iTunes ?  years ago, iTunes would sometimes boot and really want to find the music under Documents and Settings..... but that seemed to sort itself out.

  • Can I prevent FCPx from seeing an external hard drive

I have a USB external harddrive that I use solely for backups that I want FCPx to 'ignore' as there are some old FCPx events and projects on it. I have to unplug before I launch FCPx as its slows things down big time! This then causes hastle as SuperDuper then throws the dumby out of the crib when its schedule is not kept!
    Thanks
    Drew

There are a few names that lead FCP X to treat the drive as a camea. I am not sure if it has to be capitalized, but I'm guessing not. The FAT file system is not case-sensitive, nor is the Mac OS Extended file system (although it preserves the capitalization, it does treat names like 'VIDEO' and 'Video" and "video" as equal).
I did not know that the projects would still show up.
There is, of course, another workaround. This one will still have FCP X see the drive (so, for example, you can't eject it without quitting FCP X first), but neither the Events NOR Projects will be seen.
Quit FCP X if it is running.
Create new folders titled, e.g., "Final Cut Events (hidden)" and "Final Cut Projects (hidden)" at the root of the drive (right beside the regular "Final Cut Events" and "Final Cut Porjects").
Move the events and projects to these new folders, leaving the original folders empty.
Now FCP X will see the drive but there will be no events and no projects in it.
When you need them, you can just move them back to the original folders. (again, when FCP X is NOT runnimg) - it doesn't have to be all or nothing, just move what you need.
The $5 application Event Manager from Digital Rebellion can do this trick of enabling and disabling of projects and events somewhat more elegantly, by merely checking and unchecking boxes. But behind the scenes it is merely automating the manual procedure described above.

  • My iMac does not see the new Toshiba external drive in Finder or Disk Utility.  How can I get it to see the drive?

My iMac does not see the new Toshiba external drive in Finder or Disk Utility.  How can I get it to see the drive?

    From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Power Adapter
and uncheck the box labeled Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible, if it's checked.
If the drive has more than one interface (USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt, eSATA), try one of the other interfaces.
Check that the data cable is securely inserted at both ends.
    Try a different cable.
If you're connecting the drive through a hub, connect it directly to a built-in port on the Mac.
If you're connecting it directly, try a different port.
Disconnect all other devices on the bus, or as many as possible.
Test the drive with another Mac. Test another drive with this Mac.
If the drive is bus-powered, but has an AC adapter, connect the adapter.
Start up in Recovery mode and launch Disk Utility. Is the drive recognized?
Start up in Safe Mode and test.
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If the drive doesn't work under any of the above conditions, and if another drive does work with the same Mac, then the drive is malfunctioning.
