Can't get computer unlocked
I downloaded the game Runes of Avalon 2 from the App store last night and could never get it to open - error message that it had closed unexpectedly and when I clicked on re-open the same message appeared. I removed the game from my launchpad and downloaded it again with the same results. I removed it again and sent an e-mail to the developer and he responded this AM saying the conflict was with Mavericks and suggested that I re-start Mavericks and that would solve the problem. I downloaded the game again and then did a re-start of my computer and when it came on it was locked up. I couldn't open anything on my desktop and the Dock would not come up. I did two force quits with the same result so I finally did a re-start in Safe Mode and removed the game. Now, even with the game removed from Launchpad, my computer is still locked up, even after a re-start from Safe Mode. I need a plan B, please.

I read something on another thread and it suggested holding down the menu button and the middle wheel for five to ten secs until the locked screen goes away and the apple shows up. Then it was unlocked. This was the only thing that worked for me.

When your account becomes disabled, Apple provides the following recommendation:
"This message means that someone tried and failed to sign in to your account multiple times. The Apple ID system disables the account to prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your information. You need to reset your password, following the instructions at the Apple ID website".
Visit iForgot.com and follow the instructions there.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

thank youOnly the original cellular provider can authorize unlocking. You will need to contact them to determine if they offer unlocking and if the phone qualifies.

It's good to read Antoniad's post. It reassures me that I can use my new iPad as an international communication device which is the reason I purchased the thing. However, I called Verizon today (my provider of cellular data) who told me that I can't just pop in a SIM card as you suggested. He also said that he was from the "Pre-Pay" division of Verizon and he was certain that I couldn't do what I planned to do. I was extremely disappointed as I had called Apple prior to buying the iPad and I read the algorhythm on the website for choosing an iPad before purchasing. Those sources were quite specific and the information seemed clear. I would be able to use my iPad to communicate through cellular connections while traveling on the road, literally, abroad. I was told that I could pop in a data card wherever I was, just as you indicated in your message above, and voila I was good to go. The Verizon rep definitively rained on that parade, but said that I might be able to do this if I have a "Post-Pay" account, a different area of Verizon. I haven't had the chance to talk to this division yet, so I looked to Apple's Support for answers. Maybe I will find out that I can use my iPad as an international communication device while traveling on the road afterall, however, it appears I may need a different type of account (Post-Pay), something I was never warned about. Can I switch to this kind of account? I don't know. I have to find out. If you have any information about this issue, it would be good to share since I strongly suspect there are others who bought the iPad for the same purpose that I have.

You are saying the phone is locked, but then you are saying there is no provider. The two situations cannot peacefully coexist. Contact Apple and they can tell you if the phone is locked and if locked to which provider the phone is locked. People on this board are not Apple employees and cannot get you that information.

One last thing to add into the mix.
As you know your Router will have to probably need to be manually confiqured.
Your Router has an IP address of 192.168.1.1
The 1st port to the first machine should have an IP of 192.168.1.2
The 2nd port should have 192.168.1.3
Each corresponding port needs to have assending IP addresses.
Checking the paperwork that came with your Router will explain how to manually confiqure it.
Sometimes a complete System reset will also help.
Modem Router and Shutting off all the machines.
When powering back up start with your ISP's Modem and after it has aquired the signal and lights then you can power back your Router, and the same there wait for it to reacquire the signal and the lights each will take a minute each. Now you can restart your computers one at a time and try them. You might want to double check the cable on your troubled machine and also try switching the ports on the router and if none of this works it sounds like a bad Ethernet Card.

if you buy the phone from apple, online or store, and you do not use your upgrade, in other words pay full price. You can go to att.com. scroll your mouse over the wireless tab. and click the link, "unlock iphone" Fill out the few questions it asks you and at&t will contact you by email with instructions for unlocking the phone. I spoke with at&t about this the other day and as long as the phone isnt in a contract or the contract is satisfied (termination fee paid) then they will unlock it for you..

Sounds like you bought an AT&T no contract phone. You will need to contact AT&T for unlocking but they are only doing so for current and previous account holders. If you have never had service with them they will not unlock your phone.

Contact the original cellular provider, as they are the only ones that can provide unlocking.
