Can't get decent photos from new HP 6940 printer

Thanks to all for their patience with a total newbie. I have tried a search of the forum for the relevant info, but frankly don't even know enough to frame a decent query.
When my old Epson printer recently died, I bought an HP 6940 on recommendation of a salesman (mistake #1?). I have PSE v4.0, and had always gotten very nice prints from the Epson.
The results from the HP have been atrocious, both in color and B&W. Just no tone subtleties at all. The canned 'printer test' pages that come out are very nice, so I figure the machine is capable of decent results when properly set-up. The pull-down menu pick for Adobe printing cites a 1998 date!
Can anyone offer some color management pointers for adjusting within the HP driver software (is the proper term "color management"?)
Thanks to all,
Bill

Thanks, Barbara - I am using HP photo paper and the #99 cartridge.
The Epson printer driver did just great. With HP, there seems to be a tremendous bias toward yellow - skin looks jaundiced. Reducing yellow values even slightly, however, throws skin tones into a glowing and nuclear red.
This is a photo with huge dynamic range, admittedly: a flash picture of a child's face in a dark room. Attempts to render the somewhat "blown-out" face by 'selecting' the face and reducing its contrast and brightness with PSE throws it into unhealthy yellow.
It may just be that the range is too great for this modest printer. I should probably look around the 'Net for an HP printer discussion forum...

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up.
    - Restore the iPOd from that backup.

  • How can I get all photos from the camera roll onto the photo stream so they will share between iphone and ipad?

How can I get all photos from the camera roll, and all new pictures taken, to get on the photostream so they can share between iphone and ipad?

When turning PhotoStream on with photos available in the Camera Roll, only photos captured by the iPhone or saved on the iPhone are placed in the PhotoStream.
For all photos that were in the Camera Roll prior to turning PhotoStream on, import the photos with your computer and add the photos to your PhotoStream on your computer.

How can I get all photos from iPhoto to automatically back up to iCloud from my Mac OSX Version 10.6.8 operating system.  Not enough memory to upgrade.

You can't.  iCloud is not for general file backup from a Mac. It's for backup up and syncing data between mobile devices and and Macs and  The following is from this Apple document: iCloud: Backup and restore overview.
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your (mobile) device using iOS 5 or later. Once you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .....
    What is backed up
You get unlimited free storage for:
Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books
Notes: Backup of purchased music is not available in all countries. Backups of purchased movies and TV shows are U.S. only. Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
Some previously purchased movies may not be available in iTunes in the Cloud. These movies will indicate that they are not available in iTunes in the Cloud on their product details page in the iTunes Store. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
You get 5 GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
    App data
    Home screen and app organization
    Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
    Ringtones
    Visual Voicemails
But not from a Mac.  If you want to backup your photos and other important files I suggest you get an external hard drive and use  it with Time Machine.

How can I get the photos from iPhoto copied to a disk in the order I want??

To ensure a custom ordering, sort the files in an album and rename the files with a sequentially numbered filename.
    File > Export > Version/Originals
    Then use "Filename > Sequential"
or "Filename > Album name with index"

I can't get my photos from my iPhone to my iPad ?

How are you trying to do this?
Are you using iOS 6 on each device? If so make sure PhotoStream is turned on for both devices. Do this in Settings.
Then copy the photos you wan to transfer to the iPad to the PhotoStream. On the other device open the Photos app, select the PhotoStream and share the photos you want to the camera Roll on the iPad.

i can't get my photos from ipod to pc.how i can get this?

You'll likely need the assistance of some third party software such as the one below to get the job done.  Keep in mind that your photos will no longer be in their full resolution, but instead will be the scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod.

  • Can I get the photos from my ipad developed?

I was wondering if there was a way of getting my photos from my ipad developed?

Sure, you can import them to a computer and then send them to your printing source. There are some third party apps (I don't know them, because I do the first method) that will allow you to send them to the third party company and print them out.

  • New iphone5 and can't get my photos from iCloud to show up. Why

I got a new iPhone 5 and I can't get any of my pictures from iCloud to show on it. They are all there on my iPad. Why can't I get them on the new phone.

Photo stream photos are only saved in iCloud for 30 days (even though up to 1000 will remain on your devices until deleted).  If your photo stream photos are over 30 days old, they are no longer in iCloud.

  • I can't get my photos from old to new device

Unfortunately when my new 5S was set up by the folks at the provider, they accidentally set it up as a new phone so none of my information that was stored in the cloud came over.  I have one by one added all my apps but for the life of me can't figure out how to get my photos to my new device.  I backed the old phone up on iTues so the photos are there.  I tried chatting on line with Apple and they were no help.  Any suggestions will be appreciated

Restore your iPhone with the Backup on iTunes. Don't back up your new phone first, because that will delete the back up with your photos in it.

  • How can I get my photos from my iphone back?

I had lost my iphone 5 about a month ago. I purchased a new iphone 5 and began taking photos. When I accessed itunes, I clicked the restore button, and got all my apps and photos from my stolen phone back on to my new phone. How can I get back the new photos I have taken?

Unless you did a backup of the phone prior to the restore, you don't. Remember that restoring to a particular date and time will restore the device to that particular date/time, so anything after that point is deleted.

  • How can I get the photos from my old icloud backup on to my computer?

I got a replacement phone and now there are 2 iphone backups.  There's the old phone with the pictures on it I would like to put on to my windows 8 pc.  I can't figure out how to get them.  I can't restore them to my iphone because I already have another file in icloud for that.  How can I get the old file with my pictures on to my computer??

You can only access them by restoring the backup to your phone.  You can backup your phone (such as by backing it up to your computer using iTunes), restore the old backup, transfer the recovered photo to your computer (iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer), then restore the backup you made earlier to return your phone to its current state.

Why can't you simply "import to libray" from iphoto in Lion targeting your photos on the external disk?
